The latest kernels from jt are safe.

You can flash the ec10 kernals that are for touchwiz. They will work. The only one I haven't tried is the "coma volt" one. I'm currently using the one from nemesis4all that is oc'd and uv'd and it's going great.

ComaVolt works great! OC kernel is smokin fast, but with overclocking some phones (random ones) may not like it and have issues.

Heinz 57 Gingerbread

Has anyone tested the new Heinz 57 Aosp Gb ROM from Rom Manager?? If so, how is it??

Its pretty much an AOSP build. Doesn't have any add one or anything like that. Its seemed pretty smooth although I only ran it for a little bit then when back to cm7.
What I meant to say instead of AOSP is Vanilla. Its a straight up vanilla build at this point

From what I could tell. I didn't run it very long. Just to see what direction it was going and so forth. I tried out a few things and such and didn't have any issues. I did have force close hell but that was just because I didn't wipe data before flashing. But that was my fault and after I wiped data and reflashed it.was fine.
Make a nandroid backup and if you dont like it you can always restore it. I will say it has no reboot in recovery in the power menu. You have to use terminal to get into recovery

Cool, sooo basically its the same as the vanilla build in the Fascinate Forum?

[Q] Pimp my sgs4g

Okay, so I'm on stock 2.2.1 with root. I've never flashed this phone, but I've flashed some friends different androids for them. I was wondering what the best rom is right now, and anything else that I need to do like kernals or tweaks to make my phone as badass as possible. Can anyone help me?

Valhalla is your best bet.
I believe you need to flash GB bootloaders first as well as honks kernel for GB ROM's. There's plenty of wonderful guides in the dev section. The one by FB is probably the best.
Good luck.
The GB starter guide is ths one he is referring to.
Its all up to you which ROM you want. Miui is pretty hot right now. Valhalla is great and so is audiophile

Best ROM Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266320
Kernels: drhonk's Froyo and GB kernels
Tweaks: I think all of the GB ROMs are optimized now. The only tweak for GB is SASv7 beta by dsexton702. As for Froyo, there's a lot more tweaks. ICBINB KD1 has all of them. I'm not sure about Audiophile, although I'm sure it does. Black Ice and Bionix Frost are pretty basic though.
Just be sure to read the Bible. Flashing on this phone is very different.
I love bionix frost. It was so fun to tweak because it is super stable

Just flash a kernel that supports Voodoo, turn Lagos on and you're good to go. Check Rootzwiki for more up-to-date info.

new to the droid charge world

recent got a droid charge and was wondering what is the current crowd favorite for ROM/Kernal combinations. on the Fasscinate i've been usings TSM Res/SuperClean with KGB kernal so trying to see what the player picks of choice would be here.
thanks
I'm currently using Imnuts' PBJ kernel and the Eclipse ROM, and I'm loving it
A lot of us like the Eclipse ROM
http://eclipserom.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=82
PBJ kernel is popular as well due to CPU tuning options, although I personally use Imoseyon kernel because it has been more stable for me.

I would choose Eclipse or Tweakstock with PBJ kernel.

I'm currently using Eclipse v1.1 EP4D and imnuts' 115 PBJ kernel converted to ext4 filesystem.
Tweakstock with object with voodoo

I'm also using Eclipse with Imnuts PBJ kernel. Make sure to use one of Imnuts's older kernels to convert to EXT4 before flashing the newest one.
been seeing people saying to flash imo's 4.x kernal for the conversion, then flash the pbj kernal
I've tried all thats available... Keep going back to Tweakstock with experimental kernel.

That's the way most people go. Post a thread in the Q&A if you're not sure about something. There's a lot of knowledgeable here people to help you out.

This. Exactly this.
I was all TweakStock until the new Eclipse came out. I haven't even considered anything else since, and my battery life on PBJ is beyond anything I've ever had on this phone. There's no comparison for me now: Eclipse on PBJ.
Good to know I have considered re-rooting now there are more roms out. Sounds like eclipse is the wary to go.

Quick question about SetCPU

Does SetCPU do any good for my phone if I'm using a stock kernel? Right now, I'm running WeaponG2x with stock kernel.
Also, if I do need a custom kernel to use SetCPU, can someone recommend a good kernel?
Thanks.

You could underclock/undervolt and set profiles, but not overclock. There are only two OTA based kernels for G2x, Dragon or Faux.
Dragon:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1246419 (I prefer this one)
Faux:

Quick and straight to the point, thanks so much. Oh, one more thing, what's the main difference between those two kernels?

Probably the only difference is which one your phone works best with. You should try them both out for a couple of days nd then stick with whichever u like the best.

I'm using a dragon version for CM7, very stable very solid.
For weapon you'll want to use faux's kernel. He has a thread in developement somewhere with his gingerbread, froyo, and weapon roms
