[Q] Now that I'm rooted...rom time!

Now that I'm rooted (thanks to all those involved), I want to get all decked out with a custom kernel/rom/all that. I can see that there are quite a few roms available. I don't suppose there's really anything that compares and contrasts them? Or an easy way to find them all? I tried searching for [rom] and it wasn't able to handle that.
I'm really digging Sense, and I recall seeing that there was a rom (maybe more than one?) that had Sense 3.0?

We do have a full pure 3.0 ROM that was a wip but the dev got like hella busy working 80+ hours a week so it took a backseat so he could relax, but there are also modded sense 2.1 ROMS depending on what your looking for the 2 we have both have Sense 3 elements but are not full sense 3, one of them is mikshifted-g(some sense 3 elements) and the other is supreme sense (3.0 rosie and widgets)both of which have their own look and feel but are the same base ROM

Any chance you could expand on this? I don't even know what's different in Sense 3, I just know that 3 is higher than 2.1, so it has to be better, right? I'm going to try to find threads on these roms and read up on them, but any comparison you can give from actual experience or working knowledge would be appreciated.

MikshiftedG- has Sense 3.0 messaging,lockcreen,the newest market that let's you plus1 things, has lots of extra quick settings,music widget if there are more ill be back to edit this post
Supreme Sense- is based off mikshifted G so it has the same market and all the quick settings and has Sense 3.0 messaging, weather,music,twitter3d,friendstream3d,lockscreen,Rosie(carousel),people widget 3d, message widget 3d, bookmark3d,htcclock3dwidget, if there is more i remember ill edit this too its early and i was up late making some changes lol anyways mikshifted/supreme offer up the most features out of our sense based ROMS, and they have better perfomance because they are odex and not deodex

[RECOMMENDATION][THEME]ICS Theme for Sense[Sense 3.5][ICS]

Hi everyone,
if you can't wait to taste the ICS on your device, you have three ways.
There is (as you already know) working ICS alpha port released for Desire S, but there are many limitations(touch, sound, wifi, mobile network) and the ROM is basically a work in progress thing.
CM7.1 has very nicely done theme on market which feels very close to actual ice cream but it's not Sense.
If you don't want to sacrifice the benefits of Sense(3.5) and even more the speed of Endymion 2.x, i would like to suggest you perfect compromise.
I tested ICS Sense 3.5 theme (ICE HD) from DHD forum on Endymion 2.2 and it's fantastic(fast as always and stable), just try yourself. It's like a ICS with Sense, which will not be available at least until the 1Q 2012.
It's in my opinion the perfect balance between Honey HD(which is base) and ICS theme for CM7.1 from Market.

Using RCMix3D 4.0

I have ROM endymion v2.2 with HoneyHD theme and after flash the ICS theme in recovery i'm blocked in boot screen

After update of ICE HD to RCmix 4.0 base you have to delete or replace tweaks.apk from zip from /system/app/tweaks.apk The new tweaks are not compatible with Endymion 2.2 yet. You need to use 3.3 tweaks.
I am sorry for your error state, I didn't expect the change of the base.
Just do always a Nandroid backup first, then you're safe.

If you mean the little lag if you fast scroll, it's perfectly normal, if you are bothered with this try setting in RCtweaks the fast rosie option (3D/2D or even 2D) or try little OC (something lower or equal 1.2Ghz is perfectly sufficient, by sensitive like lowveld always says).
Good luck with tweaking and customizing, it's the most fun on custom ROM (i already used CM7.1 it's customization paradise )
But always know what you are doing, and try not to brick your device(Dev forum hints are always useful) and always backup

Mine are not little lag.. one ore two second blocked.. but not always, and i don't know why

Hi,
If you have this big lag there is something wrong. Maybe the combination of Endymion 2.2 then Honey HD and after that ICE HD, you should ask lowveld in Endymion forum, or try to re-flash Endymion 2.2 and ICE HD after that. Be sure to do back-up first
For OC hints go to Endymion thread and try to find some recommendations or download OC/UV Beater 1.5 and try some different settings of governors and frequencies, just go easy on that

For complete ICS effect you should try also the proxuser's ICS themed keyboard which is almost same as real ICS.
I personaly use SwiftKey with neon skin which fits perfectly to the theme + the prediction i can't live without
For Endymion 2.2 users remember to remove/replace the tweaks.apk in the theme archive. Just till lowveld decides to update tweaks to 4.0

Sense 4 ROMs are pretty nifty, but I'm wondering how I can make it so that, when I swipe the lock screen, the home screen doesn't come spinning at me.
I'd prefer it just to appear without spinning. I turned off animations, but that didn't help with this.
Actually, I think stock Sense 3.x might do this, too. I can't remember.

Leedroid Tweaks Doesnt Work ON SENSE 4 , They are For Sense 3.6

You'd have to head on over to the EVO 3D forums and find out; the mod was made on an EVO 3D.

For info, Leedroid will be on Sense 4. But only for the One X, as J4n87 said he wont port Leedroid tweaks to sense 4 on any other devices.

Since it's been a couple of months since I started this thread, I thought I'd repose my original question.
Have any tweaks appeared that will permit me to disable the lockscreen carousel effect on Sense 4?
I really like the various Sense 4 ROMs that are available, but I really *don't* like the spinning carousel when I unlock the screen.
I know that there's a LeeDroid tweak that does this for Sense 3.x. I'm asking about Sense 4.

Thanks for the reply, but the animation option doesn't affect the lockscreen carousel. In fact, animation is the first thing I always turn off, since I prefer a really snappy response to a lot of wiggly effects.

If you are on ordroid I know you can go into the included tweaks app and disable unlock animation under the sense ui tab of the app

Hello guys, Just testing out a new rom.
It is made off 4 Kornerz ROM from Diablo67. It is call 4KMods, It is running original kernal but is compatible with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570308 which is the underworld Sense Kernal.
Edit:The release of the 4KCM7 ROM is here only because it is going to be the "Light Weight" edition, CM7 itself is not fully functional as of this post, but will be my main priority for initializing the same Webtop experience from the Atrix/Atrix2/Razr/etc..
^^Also, the 4 Kornerz ROM base I am working will be more of the "Working Class, get it done right" ROM, meaning everything works 4G video etc..

Well I am also learning scripting and such, Maybe add a "Webtop" Like feature as well..
idk does anyone have any ideas as far as features they want there Evo to do?

Yeah, I was thinking using CM7 as a base if we were to include a "WebTop" Feature which I think we should call "The VIP Korner" Since you know I based it off 4 Kornerz ROM.
The problem is IDK what to use as far as scripts, where would I get a script that will download AND install ubuntu for you, Like an all-in-one script to do it and then include a terminal app to run it?

I would love to help, but sadly I know close to nothing about development. Would there be an issue with having terminal pre-installed, and then have the script within the ROM, and have the command to activate the script in the OP?

There would be no issues with that at all. In fact there is a rom like that for the HTC thunderbolt, but I have no idea how to port..

Why no ICS love? Whole lotta Gingerbread baking going on, not enough Ice Cream licking...don't be scurred! You wanna do something special, use ICS as a base and get creative!

I am not using ICS because it is still unstable for our device we are working on.
I will be using CM7 as the end product but I'll still be working on 4 Kornerz because to be honest I am loving the 4 corners he has put in the launcher.

How about 4Korners ICS! That would be tight! Have you flashed any ICS recently? The only thing not working is video recording, FFC, and 4G. Really unless you are a narcissistic a-hole how often do you really use it? If more people devved for Android 4.0 maybe these issues could be solved to...that's all I'm saying...We are 6 months into having ICS for our Evos and still dont have a fully functional complete ICS rom , its time to quit piddling with Gingerbread and move on....how many Sense 1.0 roms do we really need with a new launcher or rosies and mods...its like beating a dead horse...two guys can't be expected to do it all[Drew and Deck]
No offense Sandix, but its just more of the same...these threads are gonna die real soon...everybody that got Evos on launch day will be moving on in a couple months when they get their upgrade...just would like to see devs take on the challenge of ICS and give us the latest and greatest...no Froyo rom will ever be better than Myns or Magnus', no Gingerbread rom will ever be better than Synergy or CM7, what's next? Our biggest promise seems to be porting other phones ICS to our phones a la CM9 and Gummyworms...I would maybe focus on bringing the Evo something special and new if you are going to spend time devving for it.

For one thing brother,1.0 is the most stable right now,thats why we recreate it soo much,everything works.Yea everyone wants something new,but look at the roms you mentioned,like CM7 and Synergy,none of those are fully functional,this video dont work,that 4g is borked,theres only soo much you can do with something thats not made for our devices yet,so everyone always comes back to mr.dependable,thats 1.0.At least Sandix is doing something he likes,maybe he doesnt like ICS or Bliss,or maybe hes just learning and Sense 1.0 is the easiest to learn from,he asked me if he could use the design to work with,so i told him yes,because hes wanting to learn,i like to help people that want to help themselves.

To everyone,
I will be moving downloads to mediafire, I'll zip up the 4kmodkornerz rom and upload there (200mb limit for free users..)
Also, if anyone would like to donate so I may purchase a premium account there (downloads are decent from mediafire) and its pretty cheap or if someone could host them on their own website or something I'd be very thankful.

bimmerman7 I can only speak for myself. I have tried a few ICS roms and while nice none are as fast as GB on my EVO and I have children and do use my camera and video recording quite a bit and it has nothing to do with being narcissistic it has to so with having videos to show the kids grandmothers and being able to talk face to face with a child who is away in school. I would like a fully working ICS but I bought the phone to use and I do. I personally appreciate both types of ROMS and their developers but at the end of the day there are things I need to do and the guys that are pumping out stable fully working ROMS have my gratitude the most.

There is one question I have about the PkMn/Venom ROM:
I used the PkMn 5.1 ROM but to me it was very laggy so I flashed CM9 RC1.

Did you use the stock kernal? What settings did you install (clock speed, zram, etc.)?

That would interest me as well. I've set CPU to 1728MHz, min & screen off on default. No 2D or 3D OC and it runs pretty smooth. Sometimes a little bit laggy when I come from an application, but I think this is unavoidable when I want to use Sense ROMs, also it doesn't bother me really...

I'm in the same boat, no access to dev thread . I'm running ViperS 1.0.1 right now without any issues. Undoubtedly, best ROM so far, after trying lot of AOSP ROM's including CM9.

Great ROM. My only complaint is the Exchange security mod doesn't work for me meaning I still have to apply the security policy restriction forcing password or PIN unlocking.
This was also the case with OrDroid too. Anyone else have the same issue?

Venom
Venom is for me the most well developed rom available for sensation. I have had absolutely no issues whatsoever since flashing it Monday.
Some US T mobile users were reporting problems with the new radio, but it seems to be working fine for me so far.

One small problem I have: I changed the icons in the notification bar to android stock icons. But now the icon for the data connection seems changes randomly. Most of the time it looks like I'm sending and receiving data constantly, which isn't the case. Anybody know how to fix this?

This Rom for me (viper) had the BEST battery life I've ever seen in a Rom! I'm amazed! Truly amazed! Thanks team venom!

viper 1.0.1 is the best rom i have used yet and on 4.0. cpu set to badass underclocked and undervolted still super smooth and great for battery. also like the customizable status bar and venom tweaks. major props to Venom Team:good:

the rom is very nice especially the twaeks they made...
but the gernal sense 4 lazyness remains. starting apps e.g takes a lot of time
using eye candy based on aokp tamcore kernel is my daily driver
