Voice Mail password - Captivate General

Hey guys, how can I set the Cappy up to input my password automatically for voicemail? I used to have my old BB set up to do this and I'd like to not have to enter it every time. Is this possible?

[APP] Tmobile Visual Voicemail for Nexus One does not work?

Does the tmobile visualvoicemail app not work on the Nexus One and does it cost anything to add visualvoicemail to my account?
Yes, it works, and no, it costs nothing, but you do need to call tmo and tell them to activate it on your account.
i just got off the phone with them and said that i cannot do this because they said "the app does not yet work with N1"
well, it is def working on my n1...i had 2 voice mails that came in on vvm....dont know what to tell you...
i just did a test...and you are correct....however last night when i set it up on my phone...2 old messages came in...however, i just left a voice mail, and it doesnt show up in vvm.....hmmm
I just want to report it works fine for me.
After clicking on voicemail, mine gets stuck in the "connecting to account: screen
I'm using google voice visual Voicemail. Does the t-mobile version do transcribing?
Figured it out. You have to disable Wifi when first activating visual voicemail.
GV is better, but its not pushed. You can set the fetch time as frequent as 5 min, but probably will drain the battery a little more.
How so I setup gv to get my cell vvm?
Google Voice is way better than tmobiles after u run the app on the phone login to voice.google.com and go to settings and it will tell u how to forward your voicemail to it.
Works fine for me, lol. I called them up and asked them to turn it on.
Works fine for me. Make sure you're NOT on WIFI. Tmobile visual voicemail only works over the Tmobile data connection.
Hmmm...can't seem to figure out how to setup gv to pickup my cell's voicemail.

Go to the settings in your GV page. It will explain it. Basically, set GV to Do Not Disturb, and set your phone to forward all unanswered calls to GV. It will automatically go to GV voicemail that way.
Where is the option for the n1 to forward them?

On your GV page, click Settings, and under the phones tab, next to your mobile number, you should see a link to Activate Google voicemail... Click that and pick your carrier, then it will give you the string to enter into your phone to automatically do it.
If you're on T-mobile, you just type *004*1XXXXXXXXXX#, where the X's are your phone number (preceded by a 1).
When I go into the call settings of the n1 and try to select Google voice as the voicemail carrier I get an error.

Read my post again. You don't change anything in the N1's settings! You do it all through your GV page and change the settings there, then simply enter one string of code into your phone to automatically forward all unanswered/unaswerable calls to GV.
Unexpected error occurred when trying to change forwarding settings

Google Voice

T Mobile Apps
I can't get any of them to work with the new plan which is a bummer cause I love visual voicemail. I can't get the my account app to recognize device. Hope they fix this soon!
Edit: You guys are right Google Voice is way better and transcribes the voice mails which is hella cool!
Try setting it up with WiFi off.
use the google voice voicemail its built in. its much better and it gives you a transcript of messages(it writes it out)

Are you sure it is asking you to "upgrade" and no "setup"? I had to call TMo and have them 'flip the switch', so to speak, on VVM.

I'll try giving them a call, just wasn't sure if it was compatible with the plan out right now or not.
try this
o enable the visual voicemail on T-Mobile, you need to do the following:
* Download the app and install it
* Call T-Mobile
* The rep can't add it automatically via the account features list -- it will error out
* The rep has to first manually update your IMEI number (of which you need to read from the back of your box)
* Then the rep has to wait for that to update (took several minutes)
* Then the rep has to go back to the features list and then add visual voicemail manually
* Try changing your phone from Unknown Device to MyTouch 3G at my.t-mobile.com and add the Visual Voicemail under Services
* If your voicemail is still being delivered the traditional way wait until you receive a text from T-Mobile (about 24 hours) stating that your account change has been updated, it will then work via the application

question about Google Voice
I just set up google Voice.
How do Is top it from routing duplicate incoming texts to both my regular message app, and google Voice
Go into your default messaging service and access the settings in the menu. Disable notifications, and you should only get notifications from Voice.
Errr... not sure if this is exactly what you were asking. You are getting texts from your google voice number on your normal phone number?

What's happening, is that all of my Google voice texts are also showing up in my regular message app. Because they're also beig sent to my regular mobile number
Sounds like something that is an issue with google voice. Probably should check the settings on that. Almost seems like there is a forwarding issue going on.
I figured it out here:

Ok I got it setup. It is working now. This is the crazy part about last time I tried to setup google voice. When you went to the website to verify your # it would call your phone then have you put in the 2 digit number it gave you. for the longest time it would not recognize the 2 digit # i would put in my phone. Now it works. Thanks for reminding me about google voice! How well does it work for you guys? Does it drain a lot of battery? I have notice my phone takes for ever and a day to charge up and the battery does not last as long as my iphone did.
Better phones use more battery.
I definitely enjoy Google Voice better than the Visual Voicemail on the iPhone. The voicemail to text tends to be pretty inaccurate, but overall it's great.

You mean VISUAL Voice Mail. I have been using YOUMAIL for years and it works great. I used it in place of my iPhone VVM which was always flakey on my jailbroken iPhone. YOUMAIL does so much more.
Quick question about the Google Voice option. Not trying to thread jack and I apologize if it sounds that way. When you switch GV over to your AT&T number, did it do anything to your account? I thought I read that it was like porting out your number so it would kill off the account that was tied to it. Thanks guys

It does. If you port to Google it will shut down your mobile account just as if you ported to another mobile provider. Also note, there is (at this time) no way to get your number OUT OF Google (unless things changed over the last month or so).

I dont think so. All you are doing is forwarding your # to them for voicemail. to take your phone off forwarding to gv you just do something like ##61#, ##62#, and then ##67# if i am correct. But I think that is on the iphone. Not sure about android.

If you "switch (port)" the number as the poster asked it will cancel your mobile provider's account. You CAN port a number to GV now. If you don't switch/port it the caller has to call your GV number (not the same as your mobile number) for your cell phone to ring to use GV. If you just want GV voice mail that is a totally different thing. To do that, like with YOUMAIL, you setup "conditional call forwarding" which forwards only UNANSWERED CALLS to your GV voice mail.
i have had issues setting up gv on any att rom. waiting for the rogers rom to drop! the i9000 and i9010 and i9088 roms all had zero issues on the captivate setting up gv. the att roms still give me the att vm notification and it never shows in my gv mailbox, then i try to call voicemail from the dialer and it asks me for my gv 4 digit pin. i dont know why i cant get it to switch to the gv notifications and my vm doesnt show in the app, it's rather frustrating!
youmail on the other hand is setup as call forwarding and not in voicemail settings, it works perfectly but i miss the gv transcriptions, even though the voice recognition sux, i can get the jist of the message without listening to it. youmail has a similar service but it is a pay service.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. I have been using google voice for about 2-3 years. I only use it for v mail. I have my att v mail number forwarded to a google number and I get v mail, text and email. Works perfectly and the translation in texts is pretty good, although there are usually some pretty funny transpositions.
ahh found the issue, though i dont think i had to do this on any i9000 rom for my captivate (i never got it to work on the captivate rom) log into gmail from a desktop web browser, go to http://google.com/voice (voice.google.com will redirect you here as well) and look in the phone tab, next to your cell number in small blue text it says activate voicemail. when you click the link it brings up a mmi dialer code that will automatically change the forwarding numbers according to your gv number and activate the gv vm box for new mail. this step may be accomplished by the app on international roms because i dont remember ever needing to use my gmail page to set it up before. it might be a matter of permissions, maybe att disallows apps from running certain mmi codes in there roms?
the settings>callsettings>voicemail page is just for the voicemail number that you use from the dialer when you hit 1 or the vm button, even if this is set it doesn't forward to this number without the mmi code being run. the settings>callsettinge>voicecalls>callforwarding page has the forwarding numbers but setting these manually doesn't work for gv because though the calls do get forwarded it wont activate the mailbox, it needs the mmi code to do this.
the code for me looked somewhat like *004*xxxxxxxxx66# im worried it may be unique to my gv number so im not sharing the whole thing as im still not sure how these codes work.

I'm using GV. I had issues trying to get it to work at first. I tried a few things to get it working. First I just changed the section in call forwarding to my GV number. Seemed to work ok. But if I remember correctly To get it actually working I had to go to my google voice account on computer and go to settings. Then select deactivate google voice on this phone. It then gave me the code to type into my phone. Then I went back and hit activate my google voice number. Again it gave me the code to enter on my phone. After that I just went through install and setup for GV app on my phone.
The deactivating and the re-activating did the trick.

Awesome! Glad you got it working.
Or, if you switched carriers (and opted for a new number) like me, you can just disable the old number. I forgot to deactivate the old number before shutting off service to the phone.

Goign from Visual VM to google voice

Hey guys,
I started using visual vm, and it worked fine. However, now I would liek to go back to google voice mail. I was able to set up the fwd'ing etc. works good. Im able to get the vm's from the google voice app.
I have it set to show vm's in teh call log. when I click on it, it takes me to the verizon visual vm app. any way to change this? or am I being nit picky....
Thanks
When was the last time you used GV? I stopped using them a long time ago cause it stopped working on my phone for some reason and transcriptions sucked. Found YouMail - they handle your voicemail way better and have fancy greetings. transcriptions are clearer and the developers actually work on improving the app.

I have Google Voice for my business number and have used it for over 5 years. I also use the Voice Choice app to allow me to make outbound calls from either number.
