[Q] custom ringtone issue? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

hello all,
i am using .mp3 files in the location /media/ringtones on the sd card but these ringtones are never consistent... when I get a call, the mp3 file does not work; sound file does not work so i only get a vibrate.
whenever the ringtones do not work i try to play the .mp3 file in the music player, it says that "the player does not support this type of file"
whenever they DO work they work perfectly fine via the music player
it seems to be whenever I plug the phone into a charger, the ability to use a custom ringtone is gone...or do i lose the sound when i use a certain program?
can anybody steer me in the right direction?

Try using the double twist media player to set your
ringtones

it could also be the format/bitrate of the mp3 file. Does it work if you convert the file to wav? Also, do you have auto-mount on? I've seen the phone think its mounted if the phone is connected to the wall.

hmm, what would be the best file format for a custom ringtone? I use audacity to edit all my mp3s
I believe auto mount is NOT on, what does that do? Sorry for the nub question

Massive problems with music after at&t ics OTA

After I made the at&t ICS OTA update I have really big problems with my music files. My music, 8 GB of mp3 files simply disappear from time to time. They are physically still on the sd card but none of the music plays recognizes them. I try google music, moto music and also winamp. Then I delete all files from the sd card an copy them again. It works but just a few days and then all players say no music found. What the hell is that?
I also cannot start the music player with pressing the headphone button when the screen is off. That worked fine on GB with an headphone button controller app, but on on ics.
Anyway to go back to GB?

same happen to me, there is a thread in the motorola forum about this, it seems that you need to format your sd card and then copy all your files again, in fact, even a factory reset to the phone may be needed.
and you can't go back to gingerbread.
I had the same problem. How are you getting the music onto your SD card? Plug your phone into your PC in media device mode. If you can't see the folder that your music is in it won't see it. You have to copy everything to your phone that way. PS I using moto drivers ver 2.2.28

[Solved] [HELP] USB DAC Audio stock 38R

When I got this device I had installed PA, and so far I had been using that with no issues. Since I heard about 38R's default extra audio stuff I decided to install it. Now, USB audio no longer works. Google music player says "cannot play audio" (flac file) and poweramp (the other player I use) starts then immediately stops if i use default kernel. *IF* I root and install Franco then poweramp can play the music via USB but it still comes out in 44.1Khz/16bit. Can someone tell me what the hell is going on with Cm11S and USB DAC support?

for me it works as it should...
i have 7.1 usb sound card. and OFC i have only on 2 channels. but not skipping flac tracks.
edit: 96khz 24bit listening now via usb and sounds really great.
maybe you have corrupted flac files... or try to flash everything again

You're getting 96/24 on USB really? dang.
Ok I fluked into the solution. I told my music player *not* to use it's own volume settings and so on (PowerAmp has an option for this called 'Direct Volme control') and to completely bypass MusicFX (or any equivalent equaliser). PowerAmp has an option for both ('enable AudioFX' in poweramp to be unchecked). THEN it works with USB audio, it's still a bit wierd the first time you plug it in (i think).
This also means 'Google Music' will not work (which it doesn't) since it has no option to *not* send things via MusicFX. Well, I never had a ROM with built in equaliser, maybe the fact that there is one in CM is causing issues for USB DACs?

you know what?? my poweramp doesnt want to play some flac's with higher qualities even when "direct" is unchecked, but play music does and audiofx built in equaliser works good with play music.
btw how do you checking real bit and freq which is playing by device?

my DAC displays the input it receives and the method (e.g/ usb. 48Khz 16 bit). it doesn't do all (44.1 is missing but gets converted to 48 I guess ?). Real idk, but the device reports it as " this is the digital signal I'm getting". As an example...on my computer I use foobar and have it set to bitperfect mode (no conversions just send signal directly to DAC whatever the bitrate etc)...when I play a cdrip my dac says "48" and "16". if I then switch to my 96khz/24 bit download of dire straits it immediately switches to saying "96" and "24bit" in the little screen on my DAC.

[Q] Looking for Bluetooth file browser with media player

I'm trying to find an app that will do what I'm looking to do. Here's my story.
I picked up an android 4.4.4 headunit for my car. I'm looking for a way to sync my galaxy s4 over Bluetooth, and have the stereo see the songs that are on my s4's micro SD cards, and allow me to play whichever track I want without having to touch or look at my phone.
Does anyone know of an app that will do this, or any method I can use to have the music stored on my phone be accessible through my android stereo?
I'm currently using Plex media player/server running to let my android stereo stream music from my home computer, but I need to tether my phone to my stereo for data.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
No need...

Android supports file browsing and playing files remotely via bluetooth. You need car radio which supports this. If you want to you can use an app calles Bluetooth File Transfer. It has many features such as bluetooth ftp servers and such but it's avery old app.
My stereo does play music from the phone, however the stereo just shows the Play/Next/Previous buttons on it's display, and I need to start the music on the phone manually.
I'm looking for something that will display the song data on the stereo, so that I don't need to look at my phone when I'm driving to see what's playing. BTW, I have about 50 gigs of music, quite a large collection, and the stereo only supports up to 32gb microsd.
I looked into Bluetooth File Transfer, not exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the suggestion though.

If your stereo doesn't display songs, than it can't. I connected my phone to a stereo in a (modern) car and it could select any song.
And if it supports up to 32 GB sdcards, split your library onto 2 cards? Maybe?

All Music Players freezing up randomly when streaming over bluetooth

Using a OPO and when I stream music over Bluetooth, eventually, the music player, any music player, apollo, jetaudio, orpheus all freeze up when a track changes at some random point and the whole app hangs and locks up the phone as well.
Eventually the phone kills the app and restarts it but by then I've already run over several pedestrians and driven my car into a ditch trying to figure out why my music stopped.
This has happened on both my sony soundbar and pioneer car reciever. As such I can safely say its not relegated to one Bluetooth enabled player.
I use to use a Kinivo BTC450 and never had this issue for a long while on Android 4, but after the switch to 5 the issue popped up on my sound bar and when i put the pioneer in my car it showed up there as well.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
===NOTE===
Stock OPO 64
Never Rooted or modified
Syncs 30+ gigs of music
factory reset once since purchased, that was last month. Problem was happening before that. Factory reset did nothing.
(I am posting this because I searched for a while and found nothing related)
SOLUTION FOUND
So after a lot of trial and error, Android does not play nice with .wma files and .m4a files even though the media player is advertised to be compatible with it.
So onto the solution, batch transcoded every wma and m4a file to mp3. Easy CD.DA Extractor had a lovely little feature that made this a hassle free jaunt. It can replace any song converted, with its converted version and delete the old one, so i didnt need to manually replace every song maually. And a quick find and replace function, looking for wma and replacing with mp3 saved me from having to redo all my playlists.
Happy day

Playlists disappear after using USB file transfer

This is driving me nuts. I don't listen to music on my phone, but there is one purpose I need a playlist for.
I have this great Alarm Clock Extreme app, that allows me to set up alarms with random file from a playlist as the alarm sound. So I have set up a playlist of songs I want to wake me every morning in the Android's Music app, and it works great. I don't need nothing more.
But sometimes I need to transfer some files between my phone and the PC, so I connect the USB cable and select "Transfer files" (It doesn't say, but I believe it uses the MTP protocol, not the Mass Storage thing). After disconnecting the USB it turns out my alarms playlist have disappeared. The music files are intact, just the playlist is gone. So I have to recreate the playlist, and set it up again in the Alam Clock app for each and every alarm, which is extremely annoying.
I have found some discussion with similar problem, but the solution didn't work for me (moving playlist file from sd card to internal storage - can't do that, because on my phone the playlist is already in the internal storage).
I guess it's not a common problem, because many people would be having it, and the solution would be already known. So perhaps it's something wrong with my phone or the system? I would like to avoid reflashing the system just to check if that may or may not help. Also I'm not fond of updating the system to the newest version, because I'm afraid of getting bugs in different areas. I have been using this one for a long time, and everything works perfect apart from the freaking playlist.
Technical details:
Moto Maxx XT1250
Android 7.1.2
Resurrection Remix Nougat 7.1.2_r8 - N2G47O
3.10.105-BHB27-Kernel-V4.9
RR-N-v5.8.3-20170528-quark-Official
Do you have any ideas apart from system update/reflash?
Issue disappeared after upgrading to RR-N-v5.8.5. Just in case someone has similar problem.
