thing is super tiny
oh but here same one I think half the price http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Keyboard-Touchpad-Laser-Pointer/dp/B004I4RW8C/ref=pd_cp_e_3
personally so far I'm eyeing Laptopmate Original KP-810-10-BTT but haven't read up on any of them enough to make an educated decision
How does the mouse pad work? I'm assuming that a mouse pointer doesn't just pop up or does it just scroll and such.

You do get a mouse pointer, I have a very similar keyboard. They're super handy too

I picked mine up from eBay last year. Works amazing. I have had it linked to my playbook, MacBook Pro, and all my phones to date. Just wish the trackpad was a bit bigger. Thats the only complaint.
I bought the Mini Rii over a year ago, and maybe I've got a bad one, maybe I'm hard on it, but it didn't last. The quality isn't great, and once the battery starts to die it gets wonky. In the beginning recharging fixed it and or cycling the power switch, but now it takes several key presses to make it wake and respond.
The power cycling wasn't a big deal, and I didn't mind, until the microscopic switch's thumb knob fell off and was lost forever. Now I need a tooth pick or paper clip to cycle the power.
Another thing it does is lose it's mind on the cap lock. Sometimes it will cap lock, without the cap lock light on, and you have to turn cap locks on (light comes on) to get lower case. If that makes any sense.
The touch pad is also less responsive now too.
It didn't cost much, but I still expected it to hold up better than it did. This is just my experience, so take it as you will.
At this point I have a half working PC remote, and great laser pointer for the cat.

Anyone tried MHL adapter from monoprice?

Has anyone with a Revolution 3.6.13 rooted Sensation 4G (T-Mobile USA) tried this MHL adapter for $10.20 from monoprice.com and how is the quality? I'm in need of an MHL hookup but not exactly sure which to get.

Tried it on the resound, and would lose internet when connected. I keep meaning to pick up the official 15 pin HTC unit. Costs more, but you get what you pay for. If this is useless, please ignore..

Yeah those are the kinds of glitches I'm hoping to avoid, as having wifi dropout while it's connected would partly defeat the purpose. I found this one also on ebay which has the HDMI cable connected, so it only requires two separate pieces/cables, though I'm not sure if using my own HDMI cable might get better results.
Be careful. For example I'm in need of one too but I don't have HDMI, only DVI.
When using MHL with DVI, you only get a picture on the screen when it updates the screen. It's black the rest of the time unless scrolling, playing a movie, live wallpapers, etc.
So I'm a little SoL.
xhigh, not sure I get the point of your post.. are you saying your tv/monitor only has DVI input? I did mention HDMI specifically in my post, not DVI, so whatever DVI issues there may be aren't an issue.

So what is a recommended MHL adapter? Or are we really to spend $30+ on the HTC one?
Looking to be able to play videos (x264) over dlna / samba or whatever to hdmi. Preferably outputting sound through the analog jack still for now.
I took a chance on the Monoprice one, and just received it this morning.. I haven't had time to test it extensively yet, but here's my experience so far...
Pros:
I was able to connect to my 1080P hidef tv without any problems.. connected to HDMI-4, plugged the usb into the side of the tv, and was up and running in literally under 60 seconds. No reboot was needed.
Picture quality is not 100% perfect, but it's nearly so... much more than adequate for viewing movies, previewing photos from the camera, etc. Audio quality via HDMI was also extremely good.
I did *not* lose wifi while connected, as some others have reported. Wifi signal remained strong. I was able to connect via SMB and CIFS and stream music and video, though I haven't tested this extensively yet.
Cons:
I'm not sure if this is normal with MHL connectors, but while the adapter was powered via USB on the side of the tv, the 500mA coming out of the tv was not enough to provide a charge.. During the 30 minutes I played with it, there was a gradual discharge of the phone, so it's not able to keep up with the rate of discharge of the phone, though technically it should prolong the battery life since it is providing some power to the phone. (Technically, the USB power connection to the MHL is to power the HDMI signal, so maybe what I observed is perfectly normal). While plugged in via USB, Minimalistic Text showed a status of 'USB Charging' which was to be expected...
Next I tried plugging the power directly into AC and not the television's USB port.. Interestingly enough, Minimalistic Text again showed a status of 'USB Charging' even though it was plugged into mains power, so it must have something to do with the fact that the mini-USB end of the AC charger isn't being plugged directly into the phone, but through the MHL dongle instead. In any case, and also interesting, the phone was again discharging faster than it accepted charge from AC, but it seemed to be a slower discharge than when plugged into the tv's USB port...
So, all in all, given my intended use which for now is mainly going to be for previewing photos, working with some documents via bluetooth keyboard, and playing P90 and Tapout workout videos, I think it's well worth the price.
If anyone can comment on the USB charging and discharge rates on OEM MHL adapters, that would be helpful.. Is it normal that the phone discharges while connected to MHL, even though it's in a charging state? If so, then I'm more than happy with the one I got from monoprice.. If, however, OEM units do actually build charge while connected, then I might consider one down the road if I find I have more elaborate requirements than I do now...
Offtopic, can anyone recommend good affordable bluetooth keyboards for our phones?
Thanks. That definitely helps! My goal is to play hours of video through CIFS/SMB/DLNA (x264), so it sounds like power will definitely be an issue.
Is MHL/HDMI purely a clone of the phone's screen or what? Wondering if there's any apps out there that can have the phone function as a remote / file navigator, and have video output only go through hdmi.
MHL is a clone of the phone's screen, so you can use ES File Explorer to navigate your CIFS shares, touch your video file, select the appropriate viewer, and it will stream and clone to the tv..
I tried it and it works great
but, buy it in dx

TV interfering with phones

Ok, this may be a stumper for most but I'm not that smart and wanted to see what the genius's on here have to say. I have a a Verizon GS3 and my wife has the original Stratosphere. I recently got a rear projection TV off craigslist and it seems to work just fine. (Panasonic PT-61LCZ7) It uses a little different technology that your normal halogen bulb for illumination. It is call LIFI technology. Apparently it uses plasma and microwaves to produce light. Don't ask me how cause I don't know. Now here is the interesting part. When the TV powers on, the GS3 will not make or receive phone calls/text messages for about 3-5 minutes and at the exact moment my phone starts working my wife's (Stratosphere) will stop working with the same symptoms. (can't receive or send calls/txt messages) My phone will continue to work just fine but as long as the TV is on but my wife's phone will not work unless she leaves the house. I think it has something to do with the microwaves from the TV but not sure. Since the phones will mess up at different times I'm assuming it has some sort of radio/frequency block from the TV. Is there anyway to adjust the frequency on the phones so that the TV does not interfere with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
sadly there is no way to change frequencies on the phone. Very interesting to hear of a projector that uses microwaves though... kind of strange.
I'd search the AVS forums for the tv and see if owners of the Panasonic have the same issues and maybe solutions.
Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion. I'll give them a try.
And don't forget the tinfoil hat so you don't cook your noggin with those microwaves.
I would check and see if the tv power cord is grounded correctly and that the ground on the tv chassis isn't loose. The wall plug should have three contacts two vertical and a u shaped equipment ground. Some old plugs only have two and people use an adapter. The adapter is supposed to have an eye to put the screw that holds faceplate on plug, when screwed to cover it makes the metal of the plug to make an equivalent ground.
You may be able to take phones to another room and bring in after tv is already on, and see if it affects it.
Last most tvs have a "shield" thats is grounded to keep any stray signals/frequencies/etc. from being transmitted or received. It should be connected to the chassis also for its ground.
Be very careful when working with electricity.
On the plus side: Your wife won't be talking on her phone when your trying to watch a ball game/ufc/movie/etc. lol

Can connect ps3 to my laptop screen ?

I dunno whether this is the right place to ask about the ps3 and lap.. So i just want to ask apology if I'm on a wrong section. Okay let me get into my question..
Is it possible to connect ps3(ie,play station 3 to my lap screen). From past i play games connecting to my TV, but nowadays mom started watching many drama serial on it. So i would like to buy a new TV but recently i was thinking whether i can connect it to my laptop. So please mind answering. Thank you

Normally laptops have VGA and HDMI out ports that both are "out signalling" ports. There's no way to get image signals in the laptops except for USB that is useless in this case
You should probably get your own Plasma, and plasmas are better in lightning
ps3
Sasan_blue is right about there being no way to use the vga port, but you should look at this. http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20067551-285/how-to-connect-your-computer-to-your-ps3/
If I understand your question correctly, your short answer is yes.
The long answer is that you'd have to pull the LCD out of the Laptop, and figure out the pinouts on the LCD screen and an HDMI wire as a PS3 utilizes it. So it's not easy, and you're better off doing it with a spare computer, NOT a laptop you're using.
Definitely can be done if you're brave enough and know how to search for things; this bloke's done it before with a Wii.

[Q] HDMI Switch infrared remote?

I have an Hdmi switch as my TV only has one Hdmi slot.
I have 4 things plugged in such as laptop, chromecast, playstation, sky TV.
My question is regarding the remote for the switch. I've got a infrared receiver that goes with it (plugs into what looks like a 3.5mm jack)
The remote is Crap. You have to get really close to it. So if I'm sitting down, I usually have to get up or lean really far forward.
I've tried making an infrared remote on my LG g3 by making it learn the signals from the remote. It says it successfully learns them, but it doesn't actually work when I press the button from my phone. Even up close. Why is this?
Also, is there a better infrared receiver and remote that I could possibly use with this?
Or is there a better, more expensive switch? It's just a £10 generic one from eBay really.
Thanks!
Anyone?
No?
This is a shame. Thought someone here would know
