Nice. What's the changelog? From where can I get future radioimage updates?

Flashing radio has a chance of bricking the phone so be cautious.
Signatures are fancy.

Actually this update doesn't brick my phone, moreover able to see some GPS fixes

He said there's a chance.
Seriously, if flashing a radio goes bad you could brick it. Like super brick. Like not coming back brick.
Make sure you have a full charge and triple check the md5 sum and all that good stuff

Can I know the source?

This is the same updated radio version that is included with the official AT&T Froyo update. Download link included on the first post of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970272
The radio.img files between these two packages are identical.

Flashed the "backup download" from first post. Couldnt check the md5sum as it wasnt posted anywhere. But I was able to verify the SHA1sum with first link in the first post against my download from the second link (if that makes sense ). As it would appear that a corrupt download could potentially damage the phone I wanted to ensure that the download wasnt corrupted. So anybody who would like to also verify that their download is safe to flash, download a program called 'Hashtab' and run it. Then all you have to do is rightclick whatever file you download and click 'properties' and then go to the File Hashes tab and it will give you the md5sum and SHA1 sum.
The SHA1 sum for this radio zip should be:
96AA7ED740030970B76E7B142E0008F16A2CB55A
If you have a match then you're good to flash. If not then you have a bad download. Its always best to be on the safe side.
EDIT: I guess it would help if I were to point out that it flashed fine and all is well!

Can I flash this over CM 6.1.1? Perhaps over the version that has FM radio?
I don't wish to risk bricking the phone.

Yeah, radio is independent of ROM version.

Is it even independent of the ROM type? Liberated Aria (with Sense) or AOSP versions.

No not dependent on ROM I'm sure it matters by what brand your phone is or where its from (At&t, Hong Kong, etc).
I flashed the radio img gene pool had up for the liberated 2.2.2 while running cm7 (phone is at&t branded)
Signatures are fancy.

Works fine with FR008
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA Premium App

To clarify, the radio firmware is entirely separate from your ROM (but it is installed in the same way). You only need to install this updated radio firmware once ever and it will remain on your phone even when you install new ROMs or restore Nandroid backups.
So in short, you should NOT flash this radio firmware every time you install a new ROM.

MD5 and SHA1 sums
MD5 (47.63.35.21U_7.16.35.11.zip) = b0a148b4cff33e4a4aef489648ebb82b
SHA1(47.63.35.21U_7.16.35.11.zip)= 96aa7ed740030970b76e7b142e0008f16a2cb55a
I also flashed the radio from the second link and its working fine on CM7 nightly.

I can only hope this will help fix some of our GPS issues.

worked fine for me!!

Flashed this on top of fr008 and works fine.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN FLASHING OR MODIFYING THE RADIO.IMG AS THIS IS THE EASIEST WAY TO BRICK YOUR PHONE
All of the update.zips work 100% of the time. There has been no report of brick and i have used all of them at least once. if you dont like a new radio flash the old one. Good luck!
the stock radio.img is from the 1.56 RUU for the SPRINT CDMA HERO
There are three Radios here. stock, 2.41.04.02.03, and 2.42.00.03.10. they are in order from release date. high number=newer. radios are risky so i suggest sticking with one. they almost never cause worse performance. if you TRULY feel your signal has degraded i put the stock in here for you to return to.
Update!2 ok so with the new release of 2.42.01.04.27 i was kinda on the ehhh bar with it. i never like new releases because they will always take something from you.
so in this case they have taken the ability to use data with a .27 kernel. so if you flash this radio, you will not get data with any rom that has .27. including the fresh toast 1.1 and all 1.5's. so its up to you. i didnt gain one thing from this radio. battery life and signal stay 100% the same. i did lose data though.
so personally i would stick with 2.42.00.03.10

Just to be sure ... I am only asking this as a precaution as I do not want to brick my phone. These are for the SPRINT CDMA HERO correct? And when you say STOCK you mean the Radio that was originally installed on the SPRINT CDMA HERO like "out of box" so to speak?... Again I'm asking to clear up assumptions. a.k.a. Is this for 1.5 as well or is this to be used only on fresh 2.0b

I updated the radio to 2.41.04.02.02 earlier today and saw my download speeds decrease by about 50%. So I finally tried to flash back the Stock radio posted here. The good news it didn't brick my phone but it also didn't work. My phone still shows version 2.41.04.02.02. When I did the flash of the Stock radio file I never saw any error message and I didn't see the message about extracting radio file. Any ideas? Thanks

Are you saying that my phone is now using the stock radio ver 1? If you are, I don't think it is because my download speeds are still way slower then before I did the ver 2 update.
Speedtest.net app available in market:
Phone was reset, then ATK was run killing all open apps. Test run at 12:30am so shouldn't be too much tower traffic, although my speeds never fall below 1000kbps
FACTORY RADIO
Test 1 (4/6 bars):
2239kbps down 671kbps up 285ms ping
Test 2 (5/6 bars):
1716kbps down 766kbps up 326ms ping
Test 3 (5/6 bars):
2199kbps down 617kbps up 342ms ping
UPDATED RADIO:
Speedtest.net app on phone.
Test 1 (4/6 bars):
2026kbps down 510kbps up 175ms ping
Test 2 (5/6 bars):
1671kbps down 715kbps up 183ms ping
Test 3 (5/6 bars):
1847kbps down 751kbps up 174ms ping
The decreased ping time is very obvious. Web sites start loading just a hair bit faster. The results are obvious ping times were cut in half!

Just updated to newer RIL (radio drivers)

I didn't want to change the radio firmware because its the firmware that came with the inspire 26.06.04.06_M. I updated RIL and afterwards the GPS gets a very solid lock fast 9 points. I now get 5 bars, I was getting 3 and the calls are more clear.
Please see this link here. I booted to recovery mounted /system and then ran the zip file update. Rebooted twice (I know what is the deal with the twice factor?) And, everything works great now.
I figure that updating to newer drivers is a lot safer than updating the radio firmware and I was correct.

should we flash the RIL you posted if we are on gingerbread or froyo? Does it matter?? I assume its safe with any gingerbread rom since you are running one...
and to the others...all you really need from that post is the install steps, which couldn't be any easier to understand:

Installation: (Tks to siedkins )
1. Reboot into recovery mode
2. Full nandroid back up
3. Select flash from SD card - select radio
4. Should get a notification to reboot to apply the radio flash
5. Once rebooted it will automatically take you back into recovery mode
6. Mount "/system"
7. Select flash from SD card - select RIL
8. Reboot once that has flashed and cross your fingers !!!

choosing a radio is really by preference so the best advice i can give you is to experiment with a couple of radio's till you find 1 that works well for you thats what i did
it wouldn't make no sense for me to tell you to flash this radio or that radio because some radio's may work good for some & not for others ya digg
I meant no point of flashing a stock rom 2.2.1 radio when I'm using gingerbread eh?

This might be an easier way for some of you to do this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061712
This has a .zip you download that will include 3 files. The new Radio, already in a bootloader ready PD98IMG.zip file, a file called id10ts_ATT_Custom_ROM_Speed_Booster.zip (which is actually just the new RILs and the Prop Editor app (which can be removed) which is CWM flashable, the 3rd file (telephony.db) will not be needed for this process
Put these 2 files on your SD, boot to bootloader and install radio. Boot to Recovery and flash RIL. Done
On a side note - I have not been able to get GPS to lock for the life of me on the last 3 or 4 ROM/Radio combinations I've had installed. I've tried every single fix on these forums and nothing seemed to work. I was most recently running Android Revolution 5.1.3 (Gingerbread ROM) with the recommended GB radio. I flashed this new ATT radio, flashed the RIL, flashed the radio again, flashed the RIL again, and I appear to have GPS back. Finally.

[Q] Remove RIL?

So I tried to update to the latest Radio for ATT. I was getting a 2Mb up connection.
I tried getting the RIL for this as well via
http://www.megaupload.com/?f=YCU9JUCT
Once I flashed the RIL I'm lucky to get .55Mb up
Is there a way to remove the RIL? I've looked around and have yet to find a way. I've tried reflashing the radio and downgrading the the stock one...which got me 1Mb-ish. And then putting back on the newest ATT radio.
Help please!

The RIL is flashed separately from the radio. Typically you will get the best connections by having a matched set. If you want the newest radio and RIL for AT&T, click the top link in my sig and go to the second post. It has them in one zip file you can extract.
So run the radio as a PD98IMG through hboot and then flash the RIL? Just wanna make sure I'm doing it correctly.
Edit: So I went to the link and answered my own question. Thanks!
So I had the problem where I was not provided a locked APN. I chose menu and reset to default and it gave me the stock att one. And my speeds are worse then before.
Run a nandroid backup, then flash attn1's pd98img ROM. see if that changes anything.

Yep, easy as pie. I would recommend reading up on radios before you flash them. Sometimes the newest one isn't the best performing.
Yeah I'm back to stock. I couldn't find one that was recommended for cm7. And I get 3down and like 1.5 up or so. Can't complain. Its all a learning experience though.

[Q] Going from CM 7.1.1 to Liquid ICS - Backup to Restore?

I'm thinking about upgrading my Thunderbolt from CM 7.1.1 to one of the Liquid ICS ROMs found on this board. I have a few reservations so I want to do this right. I know enough to be dangerous but I'm far from an expert so any help is appreciated.
First, what I did to get to where I am: I went from a Stock Gingerbread HTC Sense ROM to CM 7.1.1 following this how-to: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Thunderbolt:_Full_Update_Guide
To my knowledge, I've never flashed any radios and following that guide worked perfectly. The ROM is a little buggy but not bad. For the most part it works brilliantly and I love it.
However, as I said, I'd like to try Liquid ICS and my understanding is it requires you flash a radio. What I want to do is ensure that I can do a full Nandroid backup now so that in case I'm not a fan, I'm able to restore back.
Presumably that would involve flashing the radio that I'm currently using and then restoring from the Nandroid backup. Is that right?
If so, how do I find the current radio file? My baseband version looks odd to me, but maybe it isn't. It's listed as "1.39.00.0627r,0.01.69.0625r". The comma (seemingly separating two version #s?) is what is throwing me off.
Anyway, I really want to try ICS but I just want a method to get back to my current state if need be. How can I accomplish this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Find the 605.19 radio and flash in the bootloader by renaming it PG05IMG.zip. The file has to be on the root of your sd card for the bootloader to detect the radio. To go back to your old radio just download the one you had and flash it in the same manner. Radios aren't as simple to change back to as a Rom but once you know how to flash a radio its easy enough. Just remember to check the md5 sum of your radio after you download it and before you flash it. It will brick your phone if you flash a bad radio. Always rename the radio after you flash it or move it to another directory so that if you need to go into the bootloader it doesn't try to run the update again.

So my assumptions were correct. I need to flash the 605.19 radio to get to Liquid ICS.
How do I know which radio I have now? How do I find it? And the Nandroid restore will work after flashing back to the old radio?

You don't have to use that radio... It's only advised. If you want to flash liquid ics then go for it. If you have some data issues then try flashing the new radio. Make a nand of your current Rom of course in case there is something that you just can't stand. I would say that if the radio you are using now works fine for you then it should still work fine.

Ah gotcha. But still just in case- how do I find the radio file for what I currently have in case I do have to/wish to flash the 605.19 radio?

Yep you can always go back. Just download that radio and flash it the way I posted earlier. I don't know if you will have problems with your current radio but I imagine you're going to have data drops with them and liquid ics. They fixed the ril using the .19 radios so they seem to work better.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Makes sense. Okay, one last question- looking at the link you posted, it looks like I have two radios (at least it's two separate files on that link). Am I losing my mind?
No. They can be packaged together or separate. They can even be mixed or matched. It's usually better to use the same two though. If you do go back you will have to flash each one of those radios to get it back the way you are now. That is unless you can find someone that knows how to combine the two in a zip.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
So if I want both back- I can flash one zip and then the other and it'll have both?

Yea. Just remember to change the name of the zip before going back to the bootloader so that you don't try flafhing the same one again.

Better receiption
Better switching between modes
Soon i will add an Aroma script with all RUU's

1. can you post a screenshot of your settings>about phone>baseband
2. can you copy your system/etc/firmware folder, zip it, and post it?
i keep getting 1.08ts after trying to flash according to instructions in OP, instead of 1.08es as this is supposed to be

im pretty sure if he posts that system/etc/firmware folder we could manually add it to the rom we use, then flash the rom and have it install that way
anyway, id like to try it
bored here
also, i cant extract the files from the radio.img,... extract.exe stops working every time

cool thanks, but i still want to see pyro43284's folder and screenshot....theres alot of files missing compared to the system/etc/firmware files cm10 has, which is the TMoUS newest radio...or maybe they didnt all extract or maybe this radio just updates these specific files in an already existing EU radio install....so pyro, if youre reading this, id still like to see those
I picked up a One S to keep me until my Nexus 4 arrives.
I love HTC phones OS but I hate the reception! I have had three HTC's, 3 Motorola, 1 Samsung and 1 LG in the last 6 months and the HTC have consistently been the worst for reception.
The current HTC, has this radio on it currently. 1.08ts.50.02.21_10.09c.50.04L. I am trying (unsuccessfully I might add) to flash a different radio (radio-0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L)
I have tried fastboot, with no success ( I can a have been able to use fastboot on this current phone without issues), I have tried from CWM and have tried with TWP without success.
Here is my setup.
CM 10 (nightly but the lastest, 10-20121108-nightly-ville)
HBoot 1.14.0004
Current radio (however while in fastboot usb mode the radio reads 1.09ts.50.02.04?, why would this be different)
You see by the picture it is dropping the signal consistently.
Any help would be appreciated.

???? It is a large file. If I install a sense rom with this change my radio if I flash it?
I still can't change my radio. I am going to flash the orginal RUU and hope that it will change my radio as it is different than what is on my phone now.
It is a large file. Last ditch effort.....
If I install a sense rom will flashing this change my radio?
thanks
