Anything else that needs to be done to change these system apps, it went over fine this first time when i used x recovery to push it then noticed i'd made a mistake it just re downloaded market itself over the top when i opened it. Now cant push it with ADB. any way to stop the market updating and take my modded one ? its not a newer version of market just newer download lol. Not really sure what needs to be done editing these apps. Just changed the greens to blue. 2.1 ROM
Hello All,
I use a Viewsonic gTablet with Brilliant Corners ROM 1.3.0 installed, I thought it was supposed to come with the latest market version ( 3.1.3 ), but mine didn't seem to..of course I've already fixed that. My issue now is that when I try and install a new app. on my gtab, my device seems to be identified wrong. i downloaded and installed the Android ID Changer successfully, but I can't seem to change the items I want to change correctly with it. I also have installed the Root Explorer app. installed on my gtab, I can get into the system/build.prop folder and view everything ok, but i don't see any way to edit in there. It was my understanding that a 'text editor' was included with the root explorer app., but either I can't find it or don't know how to use it. Can anyone help me ?
Thanks,
David
Have any O3D expert meet an problem when downloading an Apps from market?
I just found an Apps which is a analog clock, I cannot download and install it as it said "This device is not compatible with this item" from market website.
When I search it from market using O3D, the apps is not shown in anywhere!
But I use a Acer Liquid (It's smaller screen, same resolution, Android 2.3), it can display either from market or market web-site!
The analog clock apps:

Thanks for your reply! May I know which version of O3D you using? I tried 2.3 V21A original FW and many different CFW (acurarom, King, Baxter...) but no help.

I'm using baxter rom from Echts but what I think the real solution is that I have edited the build.prop file with the correct values that LG forgot to include on the v21A update.
You can try to use my patch on this thread and see if that works for you.
Don't mind that the thread is saying that it's for skype. Just try it an let me know.

Thanks for your help.
I modified but no help. I got a hint from that post and flash back to Android 2.2 original FW, it work! The apps from market can be download. Only flash to 2.3 is not compatible.
May I ask a stupid question, your baxter FW is a 2.3(GB)?

Yes it is gingerbread. I had a similar problem and what I did was to reinstall a 2.3 ROM. Then all the apps were working again. I recommend you reinstall a GB ROM after a full wipe and see if that works.

It works! I reinstalled 2.3 ROM. May be the acurarom has some bug. Because after I reinstalled 2.3 ROM and baxter, it still no problem. Once I install acurarom after baxter, many apps cannot find in market and incompatible such as "Smile shooter analog clock", "Maid live wallpaper", etc. Sadly, I just a newbie and have not enough permission to ask in development group
Anyway, thanks for your help~
Its an DPI related issue with new market.
Well I am facing same issue on new Market, it doesn't support dpi other than 240. I have no idea why google put dpi check on the new version of the market.
Anyway if any one want to know how to solve it. First you need to revert your dpi to 240 and restart the phone, and then go to manage Application under phone settings, click on market, and clear data after force closing it. Restart the market and Voila!
Cheers!
Edit: On other note download maket enabler from market if you need to install an app that is not available in your country of the market.

I've solved the dpi problem by deleting "com.android.vending.updater.apk" from the system/app folder and installing one of these themed market apps

I extracted the problem ROM zip file and get the build.prop, it contain this line:"ro.sf.lcd_density=240". I think the dpi should be 240 but still having problem. In another "works" ROM (Baxter), it does not contain this line but it works.

Tried but not work.
I made a zip file with "com.android.vending-1.apk" which is Market 2.3.4. And delete "com.android.vending-2.apk" and market updater using RootExplorer. Then install the zip from recovery. But finally no help. Some apps still hidden.

Remove the old one from /system
Check to make sure its not in /data/app/com.htc.fm-1/...
If that folders there remove it.
Reboot.
Ensure its no longer in your app drawer.
Place the attached apk in /system/app/
Change permission to 0644 (rw-r--r--)
Reboot again and it will now be installed.
To shed a bit more light on your situation, you installed a system app, even though it installed to /data/app/ the app is still presumed a system app, the app is a non uninstall able app. Therefore the option to uninstall is not available via normal means (settings--apps---fmradio-- not option to uninstall)
So that's why you can not uninstall it via normal means. And the reason it will not install as a update is because the signatures are different meaning someone (HTC or third party) used a different signature when signing that apk.

thank you ! that worked . thanks for explaining why it wouldnt work . may be helpful in the future !
Hi
I use an C200 android 4.4.2 headunit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...nlink-ownice-android-head-unit-4-4-2-t2899282
I have some issues with the original rom. I want to include root and change some apps.
I also want to change device identification.
I have an mountable image of the system partition. I was able to use the supersu update.zip and integrate it by hand.
Root is working fine
Now I wanted to integrate google play updates:
com.android.vending.apk
com.google.android.gms.apk
Therefore I placed a copy in system/app/
The problem is the updates are ignored. In the same folder is an app GmsCore.apk
Do they interfear? How do I have the apps to include the updates?
How can I proceed? I'm beginner and don't know where to continue.
The next issue I have is I can't install navigon app because it's not compatible with my device.
I can use "market helper" and set it to Tablet, Nexus 7, Asus, Germany, Vodafone. With this settings I can install the navigon app.
Now my idea was to change build.prop and change:
ro.product.model
ro.product.manufacturer
ro.product.local.region
Unfortunatly this doesn't help. The app is still market as not compatible.
How can I find the reason?
Thank you very much.
