[Q] [Help] HTC Desire wired headset compatibility - Desire Accessories

So I just bought HTC Desire and noticed that my wired Nokia WH 205 headset does not work (distorted sound, works ok only when headset button is pressed, normal functions do not work obviously).... and it worked fine with Samsung I5700 (also android)
From what I've read it seems that only iPhone headsets are somewhat compatible with HTC Desire so if anyone could confirm:
all iphone headsets will work (headphones +mic)
with all iphone headsets the main button (receive call/end call/ next track) will work
other buttons MAY work
Are there any software fixes/ROMs that help with headset compatibility?

I can confirm that all Nokia and Sony-Ericsson wired headsets I've tried (4-5 models from each) does not work
(I know this is not what you were asking, I hope it helps anyone reading the thread)

For now I can confirm that apple headset works (main button+mic, not volume buttons)
I'll test with EP-630i in few days
PS and to disable redial (double headset button click) use this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kober.headset

EP-630i does work with HTC Desire

If anyone finds a good headset with additional (working) controls (volume maybe) please add info here

I have a htc legend with a nokia headset and a similar issue, the mic apparently works, but sound is low unless I'm pressing the button
from androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/39853-wired-headsets.html
Just a note-- Not ANY will work. It should be compatible with headsets that work on iphones, but not ones made for Nokia (the ground and mic wires are reversed, so you won't get microphone if you use a headset made for Nokia).

is this correct?

yes, only iphone headsets will work

he says it doesn't work because the wires are reversed, but when I press the button it works fine, also plugged in the computer works fine too
I would guess this would be a software problem

What bluetooth headsets will work with the touch diamond?
other question: why should there be any headsets not working?
i have a really cheap but nice looking samsung headset, no problem to get paired with the diamond. should work with any other headset, too!?
My existing is just a cheap iTouch bluetooth headset and it works perfectly.
I don't think Diamond has any problem to work with other brands.
I have an old Motorola Bluetooth headset (4 Years) and it will not pair with my Diamond. Looks like its time to upgrade to a Jawbone!! hehehe
i have the jabra bt3030
its a stereo bluetooth headset working on A2DP
works great and looks awesome!!
So can I listen to music through any bluetooth headset (that has headsets to play music)?
My Plantronics P590 works like a charm

Say something about the sound, it is better (or/and louder) then original HS or same quality?
Here you go!

Theres a app called btAudio (keep a google-eye open for newer versions) that does exactly this, it will send ALL sound to the headset, despite of what windows had in mind for the sound (as in if it was gonna use headset or build-in speaker)
Tho, it sometimes chokes when you dont shut down the app before you disable the bluetooth headset or phones bluetooth function, but i guess that kinda makes sense (its even sayd in the program to not do that, but im a sucker for trying such things hehe)
And another thing, this happend for me too (taken from comments on some site, linked below)
The program runs well however if you try to make a phone call with the blue tooth ear piece while the program is active the program is not available after the call is completed.
I had to reset my phone to enable the program again. - source of comment
Guess thats related to windows not being to happy theres multiple apps using the headset, lets hope for a next version which auto-disables when calling and re-enables when u hang up.
I'm waiting for this one (Jabra BT530, due end August according to Play.com)...
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/16778.htm
Got the manual that Jabra put up on their support site for a day or two before taking it off. Manual says it also supports A2DP and can stream music.
And what about battery life? Could somebody using bluetooth stereos write how long the Diamond can last, and what is the overall impact on battery life while listening to music?
I use this headset, its got very good sound and is also nice and comfortable, since i have my tragus peirced i cant wear "normal" headphones!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DRBT20...6?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1216998998&sr=8-6
It also works on my pc and my PS3 as a wireless headset/mic!
I have proper enclosed stereo headphones Dell DH-200 with volume control, next and previous track plus play/pause buttons and it all works fine with HTC DT. The only think I am not sure about is which profile it is using, the sound is not as good as when I have it paired with my laptop, which would suggest a low speed profile as opposed to HQ.
You can change the bluetooth profile in Schap's Advanced Config. I've set bitpool to 70, max to 76 and min to 64. Now the sound quality is waaay better.
I can't connect my Jabra 320's (worked with SE W880i) to BT Stereo, it only see's the headphones as a handsfree unit on the HTC
Jawbone. Nothing else comes close (for hands free anyway!). And the new one even matches the Diamond... sort of!
Has anyone suffered the sound periodically dropping out for a second or two, mainly during the first minutes of connection but still persisting now and again several tracks down the playlist?

[Q] problem using the p500 headset with PC

i have bought a 3 wire + ground connector and then splitted it into mic. and speaker connectors, so that it can be connected to the comp.
- i tried my nokia 5230 headset. everything worked perfectly. sound was stereo and mic was working.
- i tried lg headset. sound was mono and mic. was working
- now i kept the headset button pressed and tested. sound became stereo now, mic stopped working but volume in left speaker was less than that in right speaker. is it because the button is located on the left speaker wire?
well, is the headset provided with p500 a non standard one, unlike the nokia headset?
and how do i make it work in PC?

[Q] WP7, what you can control with your headset

Hi,
It's hard for me to even find a title that makes sense for this thread since I'm not a native English speaker. I struggled also on where to post this one, so i hope I did it right.
I've been searching for a better quality headset replacement for my Trophy since the HTC ones not only fall from one of my ears but the sound quality and isolation leaves a lot to be desired. That said, they at least have the functionality of controlling the volume and answer-end a call.
So actually I have 2 questions:
1) The HTC headset allows to answer/end a call plus volume control. Some Samsung focus users reported that they can skip tracks by double or triple pressing the answer button. Now I wonder if these functionalities are Hardware or OS dependant. Is there any documentation on what WP7 is capable of handling?
2) Does anyone know of a higher quality alternative to HTC's headset (wired), with at least the same functionality, but proved to work on HTC WP7 devices? (I've seen recommendations on Android HTCs but I rather not assume they work in WP7 devices, too much money to be wrong )
Thanks in advice
The best thing for you to do, would be to get a set of Bluetooth (A2DP) headphones. These will also include the microphone so you can listen to music, control the music player (skip track, play/pause, etc) and take calls.
With anything else except the HTC headset, I don't think you can do anything but listen to music.
EDIT: Another advantage of Bluetooth headset is universal compatibility- they'll work with just about any phone/computer with bluetooth
i would also recomend an bluehoot headset.
im using the nokia bluethoot stereo headset
http://www.pixmania.com/ch/de/2478328/art/nokia/bluetooth-stereo-headset.html
it works with calling, music scipping, play, pause
I'm using SE MW600 with mango and everything perfect,
able to control music, accept the incoming call, use voicecall, speed dial , display the caller-id and song name.
and the most important..
It's can use you own headphone.

ps. caller-id doesn't work in NoDo but work great in mango.

Using the Nokia BH-503 and it works like a charm also.
For reference the headset I use is the Samsung SBH-650, it lets you use your own headphones too which is excellent for me as I wear glasses so the annoying neck-or-headband style that BT headphones normally are doesn't work for me
Thank you all for your replies.
I'm particularly interested in SE MW600 first and the Samsung SBH-650 as an alternative, because they allow you to use whatever headphones you like best. The first seems to have killer features, especially the display. The second seems to be cheaper, which is always good .
EDIT: Actually I've found the SE to be cheaper than the Samsung...

What WP7 device do you got?
Just reporting back that the SE MW600 works like a charm just as Perlnx described.
Thanks for the advice!

[Q] Headset compatibility / headphones behavior

I have the following question - the headsets of all modern phones, especially
the smartphones have a standard 3.5mm jack, so you could use any 3.5mm
headphones in order to hear something. But what about remote control buttons?
Will for example the buttons on a SonyEricsson headset, connected to an
HTC phone work?
I think, if it is implemented on a firmware level, it won't work, but if intercepting
the button signals is implemented in the player(s) itself, then perhaps even the
remote control buttons should work on other phones, if supported by the
player.
And what about normal headphones ? Are they usable for phone calls ?
Can you just listen to the other party through the headphones and your
voice would be transmitted by the standard microphone of the phone ?

From my experience, microphone + headphones work from every device if they have a 3.5mm jack.
Control buttons usually don't work from a device to another, because their signals are hardware specific.
Normal headphones are usable off course only to hear stuff from your phone.
In call, your built-in microphone will be used.
If I am wrong, someone please correct me.
Thanks, you helped me a lot

[Q] Jabra Sport Corded mic and button are not working

Hello,
Bought a Jabra Sport Corded to use with my Xcover 2 (Rom: 10.2-20140204-UNOFFICIAL-skomer) and made it work using Jays headset controller. Evertying worked fine.
After a couple of hours I tried to test the mic and buttons again and it didn't work. The headset is recognized by the phone (it is playing music and I can adjust the volume), but the mic and button aren't working. Already tried different headsetcontrol apps and have tried resetting the phone but the problem stil occurs.
Does anyone know how I can get the mic and button working again? Any help is appreciated.
