Why not use google nav built into maps? Seems to be a LOT faster.
Ill have to check it out never used it
whenever i use google nav it looses gps signal alot and from what ive read its not just because we have custom roms it seems to be a general problem with google nav...i live in the boondocks so i dunno if thats why but sprint nav is solid for me where i live hope with our update they will give us a better version of google nav or something cause i did really like the usability of google nav and the car home app
i have telenav going on Fresh 2.0
SprintNav it's so slow on Damage's 2.1 ROM ....
I installed it this morning while I was at work..
im running damage's..installed telenav and when i logged in,it said i had a 20 day trial n after that i have to pay 2.99 a month or somethin...i immediately went to the cancel subscripton thing..and installed sprint nav..logged in,went it ok...installed telenav again and the 30 day trial thing DIDNT show up...just wondering if ill still be gettin charged at all?..i have the simply everything plan..i hope the first installation of telenav wont get put on my bill..any1 info would be greatly appreciated...
I'm running telenav on damage 1.0 and have had no problems with it.............

I need to know if I can use an Android phone JUST for the PDA functionality - It would be used on WiFi only, and never for phone calls.
I know the simple answer seems to be 'yes', but has anyone actually done it? I'm worried that some phones might require activation before even getting into the phone (like my Fascinate did.) I know you can dial a keypad combination in the dialer to override that, but this is going to be for my 68 year old father who just wants the advanced GPS functionality (logging, geotagging photos) for use with offline GPS programs like CoPilot or Sygic, along with whatever other non-internet-connected apps he might want to use.
Furthermore, I've heard that AT&T & TMo phones will display an error about a missing or inactive SIM, but I've not heard whether you can move past that and just use the device as a mini-tablet.... I've been a VZW victim since the Droid's hit the market, so I don't know if this is a concern or not.
So, bottom line, my question is this - if I buy a no-contract phone (even [gasp] one with a bad ESN from eBay) and never activate it with the cell provider, can I use the device as just a PDA, and are there any special considerations I've overlooked?
Thanks to all who offer help!!!

I have an att Captivate NO SIM that I play with all the time. I even use GrooveIP to make phone calls via wifi over Google Voice! You dont HAVE to have a SIM in the phone for it to function!
Anyone else use the AT&T FamilyMap service?
I've been unable to get the service to locate my phone at all with CM9 on it, curious if other ROMs have proven to work with it. The GPS works great and I can get a fast fix in google maps, but when I try to locate the phone from my PC using familymap it fails to find any trace of it every time. I'm thinking the service requires the phone to ping something back over the data connection that isn't present in CM. I've got the familymap app installed on the phone as well and while it will locate other devices in the list it won't find itself using the app.
Thanks

I have the same issue. The only roms ive found to work are stock or LEAKED att roms. Which are att roms that havent been released... I have tried flashing ATT stock radios over on custom roms but it still doesnt work. I am as of right now trying a stock debloated rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066436 I am not sure if it will work but im hoping.
Not trying to annoy...
But If you cannot find a rom that supports it, (and I have not come across one that does) You might want to try google latitude that's found in google maps. There are also other apps out there with which you can share your location with specific people. And how often its updated. In my opinion they all basically do the same thing. But to each his own.
Hi there,
I am from China and before getting my nexus 5 I owned a galaxy nexus, in which Google now works well just when phone is switched into En-US.
Now for nexus 5 this does not work.
someone uses a AT&T SIM card to enable google now.
some turns the phone into airplane model, turns off location and connects to VPN network to enable it.
Some says "Ok Google" then follow the instructions to enable it.
It seems that all these does not work for me, is there a easy way to enable Google now.

What worked for you? I had to uninstall Google search with titanium backup, install Google search 2.6, enable google now, then update to the latest version of search to have google now enabled in China. This is kind of annoying though as you can't flash otas if you do this because it modifies some system files. If you do my method you'll have to reflash the system image to update manually. So I'm wondering if you could share your method here.
Thanks!
sorry, I forgot posting, I just did the same as you did.

Hi, I usually didn't use navigation. But last day I tried to use it but navigation is working fine but no voice guidance at all. Then I checked my friend's note 3 which is also haven't any voice. Is there anything else I need to enable to get voice navigation. Is there any alternative free app can provide accurate voice navigation?
