Lots of people have been reporting problems including myself (cm7 build 29) is your phone an American version or European. Morfic is hard at work coming up with a solution though.

With logcat enabled during the boot i see this error: can't find /xbin/busybox ... and then it stops.

i believe the issue with thie kernel not booting on some phones is slightly too much voltage for those phones. after morfic and neldar figure out the issue with bln, the keys lighting when touching them, morfic is going to make a few lower voltage kernels to rectify the situation of non boots

I thought I saw a mod around for LED notifications using the back lights of the soft keys, or was I just imagining things? I have Cyanogenmod 7.0.2. Please and thank you.

You need to flash a kernel that supports bln (back light notification) and then download the paid app "bln" from the app market.

Netarchy's 1.3.0.X+ above kernels have it. And yes it will affect your experience with CM7..... affecting in a positively way. It's so much better than the stock kernel.
It has support for Voodoo Color, Voodoo Color, BLN and a lot of other goodies.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936219
NOTE: When you flash a newer version of CM7 afterwards. You'll have to flash the kernel after flashing CM7 as well because flashing CM7 replaces your kernel with the stock kernel.

Works great, and I tried the BNL, pretty cool gotta get used to it and I also like this kernel cause apparently it has godly battery life?
Also recommended and not mentioned is the "No LED" app from the market... works by highlighting one or two pixils of the screen...
I never needed to mess witht the backlight stuffs... But still Netarchy's kernel is very worth it..

[Q] CM7 based roms all cause SOD...does anyone know what's causing this?

Everytime i have tried flashing a CM7 based rom, and i've tried almost all of them, once the screen goes to sleep it won't wake up. i think that's called sleep of death (SOD), pardon my n00bness if i'm wrong. the odd thing is that when i press the wake button, the phone and even the digitizer wake up because i can hear/feel the phone unlocking when i make the sliding motion on the screen, but the screen itself will not wake up. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? or better yet any ways of preventing/fixing this?
Do you have this issue on stock?

What kernel r u using? If u flashed uv kernel try to use stock voltage, some devices don't work well with custom uv kernels
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I have this problem with all 3 kernels, stock, oc UV, and oc stock voltage .. I've had this phone for a month now, this is what makes it a waste of money for me. Even my girl has this problem with her g2x, yesterday I put cm 7.1, hers started doing it too.. and she's had 3 replacements..
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
Did u wipe ur data and format system before flashing? Try to fix permission too. Only guessing but maybe the battery is bad, as far as I know u not getting new one with replacement, so if u had same issue on stock rom that could be a problem.
I had 2 replacements but had that problem only if undervolt too much.

Well, I don't think its the battery dying but someone mentioned here before that if you look at the battery where the connectors are, there's 4 on the battery but 3 on the phone

I did wipe data, format system and even fix permissions and still same problem occurs, I don't think it has to do with the battery tho because stock OTA based roms don't have this issue...it must be something particular about the CM7 base
Also, could it be the fact that i have the WIND mobile optimus 2x? it says p999-DW on the back though
use miui it doesnt have the SOD problem cm7 did it the last time i had it (3 days ago)

Has anyone gotten rid of the green flash when you turn of screen on ICS?

I seriously don't think Google knows this issue exists within stock ICS, which is kinda were because this happens to me nearly every time I lock my Nexus S.
Sent from my Xoom
Have you installed the Voodoo app ?
Yea you can try by going to display and turning the brightness to 26. I remember doing that on the miui roms bc.of green flash on the on/off.animations

Install a new kernel, like Matr1x Kernel.
Or use voodoo plus app.

That sort of fixes it

Welcome, you're in the right place with your device. So, every ROM found in the dev section is indeed compatible with your phone.
As for start, you wanna have a failsafe recovery on your device. You will able to use it to backup/restore/flash, etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Once it is sorted, make a backup of your wind ROM, then head to the development section and choose your flavor of ROM.
If it is for the wife, I suggest pass on the ICS ROMs as for now.
Edit:
The most stable ROM is so subjective. There are a couple of thread asking the same question, read trough those please to get an idea.
There's also a thread called Wind mobile G2X users unite with some useful advice.
Good luck!

4.3 for G2X?

Hey guys,
Soo... JB 4.3 is out, and seems quite interesting and worth upgrading to. So, I have a few questions:
1) Will it be worth for the devs to work on 4.3 for the P999?
2) Do you think there will be any roms for it?
3) If no, do you think that the development for the P999 is dead?
First, let me ask you a question. Do you know why we don't have a proper JB ROM yet, or even ICS ROM...?

I'm daily driving a hackfest, and I love it. I'm sure there's many others who can live with a hackfest too.
If there was a 4.3 ROM I'd think it'd be apolkosnik to release it but with a broken radio like the current 4.2.2 ROM out.
There isn't even a hackfest version of android 4.2. There is no complete source to any hackfest for this device anymore I believe. Development is dead unless Maz ends up getting something released if he's still working on anything outside his kernels in my opinion

hmm...closest app to a fully functioning recorder that i have tried so far but still not working correctly. The video freezes up every few seconds while recording and then continues to record again and then repeats the cycle in the playback. Appreciate your tip man but I gotta be honest, I think I'm pretty sh*t outta luck if I want a fully working HD recorder for an ICS ROM on this device lol.

The SD and Internal SD are reversed, so if you have a larger SD it makes it seem like you have a large internal memory. Also the directory name for the "external" (now your 5gb internal) has changed to /mnt/emmc
