I have loaded up Vegan TAb on my Viewsonic G tablet with no major issues. However, after a file copy it is giving me a "Damaged SD Card" and asking if I want to reformat. I'm taking this to mean it will reformat the internal SD card. Is there anyway to recover without reformatting or should I do a Factory Restore with Clockworks or recover from my initial backup?
Tablet is working fine even with the error message. Any tips or ideas on this issue?
Thanks!
Well to impatient I guess. I went into Clockwork and did a factory restore, but that didn't work. Then I went back into Clockwork into system and mounts and formatted the SD area. Now can boot into Vegan Tab and mount via USB. The drive is wiped clean. I take it that the 13GB's you see is just for data storage and that APP and OS is on a separate partition?

My SD card won't mount.
It is probably the sbf I'm using. I tried updating my stock rom to official 2.2.2, but when I booted up an SD card icon was in my status bar. When I go into "SD card & phone storage settings", the option to "Mount SD card" is there. But when I press it, it tries to prepare it, and tells me that it is "safe to remove". Back to where I was before.
I tried flashing to Nordic, and other ROMS, but no joy.
What do you recommend?
Should I factory reset when flashing?
Android system recovery doesn't show a problem of mounting the SD card fyi.
ALWAYS wipe before you flash an sbf! I do it from recovery and immediately pull battery and boot into bootloader to flash. I had this SD card issue once while playing with tons of various roms. It has something to do with address mappings being screwed up. I would wipe all from recovery and reflash sbf
Would this also help if I'm getting a sd card not mounted error ? It's mounted but only for a short time... then apps that access the sd card say it's not mounted/ inserted.
Take the card out and check for error's on a pc..
In the process of upgrading ICS ROM's I think I messed up my CWM recovery (3.2.0.1)
I mistakenly formatted staging and pretty much everything else that can be formatted within the mounts and storage part of CWM.
Now recovery cannot see my Micro SDCard, it can't mount it either. Nor can I mount USB storage.
I tried installing the nvflash version of the rogue recovery, then reflashed the older 3.2.0.1 recovery from Roach to see if that would reset things, but I'm still having the same issues with not being able to access my MicroSD card.
I want to stick with this recovery as I don't like having all the various ROM files on the internal card (which is why I bought a 32GB external that I can keep all of the stuff I download from XDA).
So my current attempt is to go back to HC by using the revolver NVFlash, which I am hoping fixes my recovery also.
EDIT: this didn't resolve things for me either!! Argh! Still can't mount the MicroSD card.
If it doesn't, can anyone offer suggestions?
Thanks!
The Team Rouge recovery read from external micro sd card as well.

Thanks...but for some reason my TF can't mount the MicroSD (external) anymore, whether it's Roach 3.2.0.1 or Team Rogue.
I've nvflashed back to revolver 3.11 HC, and the SD card shows up fine in the ROM, but not in recovery.
Something has gone wrong and I am not sure how to resolve.
I wonder if putting the device completely back to stock (unrooted also) would help?
I would try and format your sd card again on a PC, try sd formatter
https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/SDFormatterv3.0.zip
Just copy the content of the micro sd card to a pc, format and copy it back.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I'm guessing there's no hope, but if there is, the geniuses here on XDA will certainly know the way. My TF101 almost got bricked late last week (e.g., recovery bootloop and ADB and most APX methods did nothing) and I was miraculously able to get it booting up again normally, but in doing that my internal SD card was totally formatted. As a result, I lost all my backups from CWM. :crying:
The question is there a way to recover the backups from the internal SD card? I know there are programs that can help get deleted files off a hard drive or SD card, but not an internal SD card that I was able to find.
If it helps, I'm using Megatron and THIS CWM (which is why I can't access my backups since it saves to the internal SD card). I can however access my old backups pre-touch CWM, but I unfortunately flashed Megatron for the first time after I flashed the touch CWM.
Thank you!

I don't know about any way to get back deleted backups from an sdcard, but why don't you flash Rogue XM Touch Recovery? It works very well and will use either internal sdcard or external microSD card. I think it can even use USB drives.
Hi guys. It's me, the stupid guy who formated his SD on Marshmallow with the "Internal Storage option" and then changed the rom . I didn't know all the encrypted stuff!... Well, the problem now is that i have a SD card formated with internal sotage option but i haven't the exactly rom with i did the formatting, only an old backup (before SD formatting). When i put on the SD card in the old backup, it says that cant use it, must format all the stuff. So...
Is there any way to access all my SD data? i tried with the old backup, doing a wipe data... nothing works.
PD: Sorry for my ****ty english
Up!
Any ideas?
You tried putting your SD card into a PC? it might read it though but if it doesnt you have to do the formating. All will be wiped but you can still afterwards try Recuva (program for restoring data) and when downloaded put your SD into your PC and then start it. that would be your best bet.
Ok, so I'm not very knowledgeable with newer Android tech. I recently purchased a Poco X3 and figured I would help keep it from becoming bogged down by formatting an SD card as internal. Right aware after the formatting was done, my phones stock internal memory has merged with this SD card and many of the apps either installed on internal or SD storage now crash upon opening. I'd like to revert this formatting and get my normal stock phone storage back but I have looked all over the phone, along with several file managers and I am at a loss. Can anyone help point me in the right direction here. It does not matter if I have to lose everything on the card, I can format it in my computer so I am only worried about getting phone storage back to stock without a complete reset and wipe.
I'm not sure why you want to do that to begin with as the data bandwidth to the SD card is a lot slower than to internal memory. Use the SD card as a data drive and keep the OS and programs on the internal drive.
If your critical data is backed up, a reload is the easiest way. Nuke it and start over.
If you can't do that you have at the best a lot of data to rearrange...
Yeah I had no clue what I was getting into. So now I am trying to reverse it, apps are crashing terribly. Even when I remove the SD card everything is all messed up. It's a 128gb device with a 256gb card... With card its saying there is 512gb?! I'm just hoping if anyone knows what could fix this, the SD card I can reformat...what about the device storage though...
Also forgot to mention....the device is acting as if it's full... Cannot even save a screenshot
check this thread, maybe you'll find some usefull info there
