had OTA update on Optimus S, Z4root crashes.. - Android Apps and Games

Hello, i have a Sprint Optimus S and ove rthe weekend Mar 19-20 i received an OTA update. My phone is running Android 2.2.2 and the SW Version is LS670ZVD. I tried using Z4root 1.3 and it crashes everytime on acquiring shell.. i tried it with developer mode on as well as airplane mode and vice versa.. any thoughts on how i can get this to work?

Hi, me too. I have an LGP500 Optimus One and Z4root will not work on mine either....stops at the same palce as yours. I did upgrade my ROM using LG update some time ago so I suppose this is what is killing Z4root. I have 2.2.1 Android.
Be greatful and would donate to whoever fixes this!

Update update blocks it,
Sent from my LS670 using XDA Premium App

The updates blocked apps like z4root from working. Superoneclick click works fine though.

I have a lg optimus s as well. Over the weekend I rooted and installed a custom rom I had to revert to v9 root it install xionia custom recovery then force flag the update via lg updater tool then install my rom. Long process but worth it.
androidcentral has a reversion guide on forums
Root with z4 or superoneclick
flash a custom recovery of your choice (androidcentral)
Flash update using lg update tool warning: do not use the sprint wireless update say no to it
Enjoy

Motorola Bravo Showing Superuser After Upgrade

Hello, forgive me if I posted in the wrong area. I'm new to the forum. I have a Motorola Bravo that I rooted using z4 while running 2.1. ATT released an update for the Bravo to 2.2 Froyo and I installed it thinking nothing about it. Now I seem to have superuser installed even when I do a factory reset. I've also lost root access. Please help. Would like to revert back to the 2.2 without su and start from scratch.
I got it. I just re rooted the phone and then unrooted it.
what did you use to root? z4 isn't working for me anymore.

Um...you got your terms wrong. OTA is Over The Air. This update is 100% via the mobile network channel. The LG Update is PC based, requiring you to be hooked, via USB, to a PC/La[top.
If you do the LG Software update and are rooted, you will remain rooted. The update does not remove data. Be advised that you may have to revert to Stock Recovery to get the update though.
I got the update with a Rooted Stock ROM and standard recovery.
Remember, LG Update and OTA are NOT the same thing. They may be using the same file for update, but the update process is different.
So far, if you get the LG UPdate, you will not get the OTA
Also remember, to take standard precautions, like backup, and, follow the instructions to the letter. Some people have experienced problems with the Lg Update. We 'suspect' they may not have followed the complete instructions.
1. Stock Rom, Rooted ok
2. Stock Recovery
3. Updated USB drivers from LG
4. Do NOT disconnect phone from cable at 4%. There is a pause here that could take several minutes.
Most reported problems have come when the above were not in play.
Good luck.

[Q] stuck on lg security error on my lg optimus l9

I had a problem on my lg when i tried to flash a new custom rom, using a rom flasher not sure which one it was but all of a sudden it rebooted and the lg security error apeared and cant get it to start tried hard reset but didnt work. I also tried the lg mobile support tool. I did get it to sw mode aparrently i already have installed the newest version so it wont upgrade because there is nothing to upgrade. Also tried to upgrade recovery but it pops up that there is no items to fix.
Note: it is rooted. Has cwm installed but the one i downloaded was for an older version of android so its not compadible. It is unlocked if that helps. Everything can be recovered so dont care if data is lost just want it to boot up aka work!! Would really apreciate any help on getting it to work.

[Q] ATT S3 i747 lost root

I have had my phone rooted for about a year. I updated my phone 2 months ago to Quantum kitkat 4.4.2 and I seem to have lost root. I can still reboot into custom recovery, update and install zip files, create backup, etc. yet the phone has lost superuser. I have tried re installing SU via app and zip. It says "the SU binary needs to be updated" Every way i have tried has failed. I have tried rerootin using Framaroot and through terminal emulator using motochopper. none works. When I updated to the newest Kitkat 6.1 kernell yesterday in recovery it said " phone is not rooted would you like to root?" when i said yes it stayed in endless boot loop.
HELP! How can I get root back without factory reset and staying on Quantum kitkat?
Samsung SGH I747
android version 4.4.2
Try this go to settings about phone tao the build 7 times now it should say developer options now enabled go to developer options find were it says root access and make sure it says apps and adb then reboot and try to install SuperSU let me know if that helped

[Q] "ROOTED" message in download mode, can't go back to stock

Hi. I'm using a T-Mobile LG-G2 with firmware version D80120g. I used AutoRec to install TWRP, but now I'd like to go back to stock everything so that I can get the OTA upgrade to Lollipop. I was planning on using this method, but upon trying to use download mode, it tries to update the firmware, but hangs at 0 percent, while saying ROOTED in red letters at the bottom.
Is there a way to either a.) Go back to stock without use of download mode, or b.) Fix this "ROOTED" message so that it can update the firmware normally and enter download mode properly? Any help is appreciated.
EDIT: Here is a picture of the error on download mode that I'm talking about.
Have you tried the LG Mobile Support tool to update to the latest OTA?

Thought about it, but I wasn't sure if doing that would give problems since I'm rooted and using TWRP. I've heard of OTA updates bricking it if you're rooted, but I didn't know if using the Support Tool would do so as well. Will it cause problems to do so? Thanks.
I had no issue updating a rooted and a unrooted phone from 30a and 20g respectively. I'm not sure if anyone has had the issues your concerned about. But in my limited use of it, I'm running both phones fine and loss no data, just straight upgrade with the tool
