RRU For linux?

Just putting it out there.
What are the chances of an RRU that runs under linux (What about running under wine)? I don't have access to a Windows PC at work (Well not strictly true but I choose not to have a Windows desktop). Just thinking how awesome it would be if I could sit in the office, flashing my Kaiser... I doubt I'd ever meet my quarterly objectives though

Can someone tell me how I must flash Linux on my Kaiser?
I would like to use Debian with a KDE (like) UI.
What do I need and how can I do that?
Thanks

Android isn't linux. Harret is.
No linux on kaiser?
Isn't there a possibility to get Linux on the Kaiser, ofcourse completely working?
I already read the Android working (kind a)-thread and saw Android is 'only' a UI on Linux.
I saw on Debian.org that there is an ARM-package. I downloaded it, but do not know what to do with it.
And how can I get everything getting work on my Kaiser?

When u find this out let us all know. LMAO
now let me be real dude linux will not run on the kaiser until somebody ports it.
This thread has gone 180 from it's original intent and therefore is off-topic.
Please use one of the existing threads about Linux or Android on Kaiser to discuss further.

Question about LG KP500 (Cookie)-flashing to Windows Mobile 6.x

Hello my friends i have a little, hopefully simple question and i dont know how to answer it^^
Why i cant flash the mobile phone LG KP500, called 'Cookie' to Windows Mobile 6.x?
Is there no way to flash a different rom to this device?
i dont know much about the processor architecture of the "Cookie" but in my opinion it's a touchscreen-enabled phone like for excample the Samsung Omnia i900..
might anybody feels able to explain me whats the different between this two devices "Cookie" and for excample the "Omnia" and why it's not able to flash it.
thanks in advance
redplate
i guess because the roms are device specific. You cant just flash a rom for a diamond on a kaiser either. Maybe with some luck you can flash android in the future when lg throws some android phones on the market.
you should have invested a bit more money and get yourself the ks20 from lg. This has winmo 6.x installed (and wlan and gps)...
You can't actually flash it as LG in most of its new devices uses the "S-Class" (as its called), interface-software,limitating the customer to do anything with it.
Can u type using ur keypad, the following
1809*#500#
and tell me on ur SW and HW version menu, what's its actually SW and HW version?
You can flash a Windows Mobile device with a Windows Mobile ROM or Android.
You cannot flash a Windows Mobile ROM to just any LG or other phones which run on their own OS. Like iphone OS ROM cannot be flashed to WinMo devices.
hey thanks for all ur replys.. very interessting btw i've found something about iphone running windows mobile ^^

so maybe someday someone wants to port win mobile to cookie^^

thanks for ur help. btw you have mixed up * and # just for info
the right command is 1809#*500#
after typing in the command i choosed the entry "version" from a submenu.
i've got the following info:
ikp500xx-00-v10e-xxx-xxx-jun-22-2009
so might its usefull for u mate... v10e is softwareversion?

Sorry for my late reply mate. Yeah, i mixed it up a bit with * # signs But as far as i saw, u found ur way . Notice that this code is only for internal purposes testing and so on, so consider that u have full acess to ur phone now and u can even hard/soft reset ur device, through the appropriate menu.
Anyway, yeah 10e is the SW version, but still, i think there are another two SW updates available already online, so i sugeest u, to install LG Pc Suite that was included in the box and seach for those and flash ur device accordingly
hi again,
at first np mate.. it's ok .. i know that hehe. i have to say "sry for my late reply"^^
and full access sounds always good^^ btw thank you very much for the code!
to the phone: im using the newest version 10z now. could you tell me plz for what exactly do you need the SW and HW version?
maybe there's another possibility to get windows mobile flashed on a LG Cookie?
thanks and greetz

[ROM] Point Of View Protab 25 with root

Hello everyone!
This is not a very popular tablet, but I wanted to share this if someone wants root on this device. For tablet details go here.
This is not a custom rom, but just a stock rom with root. Since none of the popular tools for rooting didn´t work, I managed to unpack the firmware file and drop the su binary and Superuser.apk in system.img. That´s all. Some more things and tweaks will probably come, when I figure out everything. I´m also working on CWM recovery, so stay tuned.
To flash the rom, just download the archive down there, where you´ll find upgrade tool, usb drivers and PDF instructions to flash the rom.

I could probably do it, but then if you would like to change the volume you would have to go all the way through the settings to do it, so I don´t think this is a very good idea..

Yeah, your english is very bad, but i think I understood..
I´m not an expert in this Android stuff, on the contrary - I´m just starting to learn this, so don´t expect something big from me. I understand Linux very good, and try to use that knowledge on Android, with a lot of Googleing and reading.. Hopefully, I will come up with nice ROM and CWM Recovery soon and won´t brick my tablet..

CWM for Custom ROM?
Do Jelly Bean 4.1 for our device!
Do you have any idea how i can get adb working with win7 x64 on this device? I've tried with the official adb driver included in POV's firmware updates, but they're not detected as a compatible driver by windows. I'd like to help you in creating your next roms and mods. I know linux well enough, and i develop c/c++ and java. pm me if you're interested.

CWM based on this one:
https://www.sites.google.com/site/dutchtabs/clockworkmod-for-rk2918
But no Jelly Bean or any other ROM from scratch, because I´m not a developer.. Maybe sometimes in the future, cause I don´t have necessary knowledge for this yet..

Those drivers don´t work, I´ve tried it too. If I figure it out I´ll let you know.. I´m using Windows only for flashing the firmware, that´s why I´m actually trying to get CWM working on this tablet so I don´t have to use Windows any more..
I´m repeating: I´m not a developer, I´m just using Google and doing some hacking to do my work. I don´t code anything. If you´d like to make a custom ROM from source you´ll have to make it alone, because I don´t know much about it for now.

It would probably not work, because it´s not the same tablet. You could end up with a bricked tablet.
To all of you guys - I´m sorry I´ve been away for a while. I got a job, and had to move to another town, so had no time to hack the tablet any more. I´ll post some usefull instructions and links if some of you want to start to develop for this tablet.

[Q] I want to build CyanogenMod 10 for my Samsung Galaxy Chat B5330 myself. Help!

Okay so I've bought a samsung galaxy chat B5330 device back in feb'2013. Don't ask me why cause I conciously bought it. So I realised after searching for 6 months that there is no interest of developers in this device. so I have taken up the initiative to 1) Build CM 10, 2) Port CWM, 3) Root the device myself. However I don't have much idea about building android. I've rooted and flashed Custom recovery n ROMs to my dad's phone before and I'm a geek so I learn things quickly about computers n phones. So I'm nor a complete newbie neither a Master developer. Therefore I need help of those devlopers who will be kind enough not to discourage me. Anyone can root a device which is more popular because it gets vulnarable too quickly so there is no point in telling me that "you should have bought a device which has developer support". I am interested to be a developer myself n that challenge is really so tempting to me. So here are my questions which I don't have exact idea about.
1) I have a computer of the config -> AMD fx 6100 hexacore buldozer 3.3 GHz/4 GB RAM/500 GB HDD/Windows7(32) & Ubnuntu 13.04(64). Can I do the job of building roms from the source with this config in the first place?
2) Does galaxy chat B5330 support 'fastboot'? if yes then How can I boot into fastboot mode? I've tried with adb 'reboot-bootloader' but the device just restarted normally. So I don't know How can I get into the fastboot mode?
3) CM developers are really kind enough that they have put alot effort into making the wiki. I've got precious informations about building android from source and all. But I have a confusion. There was mentioned fastboot is necessery for building CM. So if my phone does not have fastboot should it mean that I can't build CM for my device at all?
4) How much data do I have to download? Do I need to be connected to the internet always while editing local file? n If I use 'repo sync' to update the code always won't my editings get overwritten by stock code again?
so these are few basic questions I have for now. I know I might not get any response at all. But there's no harm in trying. thanks

The best way to start is to use another Rom as base (get permission first) then start tweaking it with scripts, apps and build.prop tweaks. Once you start to get familiar with the basics, start experimenting with different tweaks. Since you are going to create a Cyanogenmod 10 Rom from scratch, I give you best of luck and hope many people will use it!
