I bought an Inspire yesterday and am totally new to Android. What I do know is that I would rather be without HTC Sense. Is there a ROM that's just pure Froyo (or Gingerbread)? Thanks.

Yes. For gingerbread take a look at CM7 in the dev section.

Thanks guys. Just briefly looking over CM7, it looks like it uses ADWLauncher. Any way I can just have the stock Gingerbread launcher?
You can download the Gingerbread launcher by Eugene373 from the Market or a gingerbread theme for ADW.
CM7 Inspire 4G
Check out the Desire HD Dev thread along with the Inspire Dev thread for more options.

Does anyone have HTC Footprints app for the Inspire 4G? It's not included in the ROM I'm running and I would like to install it back on my phone.
Yes the leaked Sense gingerbread roms have it. I'm running one as we speak.

I would like this too. not included in android revolution hd 4..

I know I saw this somewhere before, either here or another forum, but for the life of me I can't find the post.
Anyway, all the custom ROMs I've used list the phone as a Desire HD in About Phone and on the Android Market. Is there anyway to get this to show up as the Inspire 4g?
The DHD to inspire 4G patch in my thread does exactly that

Awesome thanks! Will this work with any ROM or just LeeDroid?
Doesn't it do more than just the label though? It would be cool to have something that works on each version (Froyo, Gingerbread) and only does the version. I'm running CM7, but it would be nice to ID correctly.
It will apply device id's, check-in strings, gps info and the correct build.prop and locale settings, as well as the stock audio files and settings from the latest stock inspire build
Should work in any Rom but your build will show as LeeDrOiD 2.2.2

Lee your the best and I see you always there for help. That's so kind of you. We all really appreciate that.

Cm7 is gingerbread and leedroids patch is for Froyo.

Has anyone flashed Lee's HD to Inspire patch on the AR3.1 Rom? I'm on the stock radio so it matches the radio that the patch calls for. Just want some verification from someone who has done it before I jump in.
I installed rcxmix rom and it doesn't seem to have the gingerbrad keyboard, which coredroi has. Is there way to get Gingerbread keyboard??
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
It isn't the exact keyboard, but here is a free version in the market.

No its a black and blue. Coredroid has it. It's not on market... TT

Post in the Coredroid thread, after searching it.
I believe that's the Coredroid themed version of the HTC keyboard, not the Gingerbread keyboard. The one linked from the market is the Gingerbread keyboard. All the blue stuff in Coredroid is a custom theme, I believe.

It's a known bug. When you get a text, select the number and set default widget action to whatever you want, and then press save. From that point on that number will show its name. You have to do this for each contact as you receive messages from them. Once you restart your phone though you will have to do this all over again.

If you are going to stay with stock gingerbread I recommend using a third party messaging app. Chomp sms, handcent and go sms are all good ones.

Is this only supposed to happen on stock Gingerbread? I am running VU and this is happening to me. It's quite annoying!

It is the sense messaging that is the cause. A 3rd part app will take care of it

What version of virtuous unity are you running? I know on their website they are up to version 2.39. I have never used it so I don't know if its been fixed. All the current sense 3.0 or 3.5 roms that have been released with the runnymede base (1.02.401.1)or the official desire hd sense 3.0 ruu base (3.06.405.1)do not have any of the inspire gingerbread bugs. These are both versions 2.3.5 of gingerbread.

I'm new to the Sensation threads and wanted to know your views on the best ICS roms.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
If you are new to the scene I would definitely recommend Mikes Android revolution HD 6.51. It's the most downloaded ROM of all time and in my opinion the most complete. Other than that, each ROM suits everyone different, take a look at all the different ROMS and their features and screen shots and see which one you like the best.

Haha then we are on the same page, I have tried a couple but always seem to go back to ARHD because of how clean it looks. I'm waiting for a more stable release of a ics sense 4.0 ROM, maybe I'll try one now for heck of it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
IMO it depends. When I want stock 100% look I go with AR HD. If I want a customized install I go with Insert Coin. There are many other great ROMS i haven't tried (lack of time).

Yeah, I'm afraid to leave the Rom I'm using because I have a feeling this is the best now. But, what about none Sense ICS Rom? Pure Vanilla, that's a option.

elegancia is quite good, but I don't like the style of the icons, too many colors, that's why I like ARHD, because it's really sober and pure. But that's my advice!

Android Open Source Project.
ARHD for me as well.
there are a lot of solid ROMS out ther also, Energy and Elegancia are good as well. RCMIX was one of my favorites before (but seems like development stopped it seems)
I've just tried Senseless ICS. It over heats and not stable. Hope there will be a stable version soon.
