[Q] Windows Live in Android - Android Apps and Games

Hi guys,
Looking on switching from WinMo to Android... Is there a way to sync Windows Live Contacts and Calendar in Android?
I would agree this is a noob question... But I didn't find conclusive information searching the forum.
Please... It's important for me since my main mail is @hotmail and all my contacts and calendar events are stored there...
Thanks!

Yes. I did both at one time (I'm using google exclusively for sync now). I think you can set it up either in Accounts, or set up the Exchange email service, and then in accounts you can set up the sync.
Guarantee you can do it, though. Whenever I flash a new ROM, I have to tell it not to sync my live.com contacts and calendar.

Tnx!
I will look some other "details" and will probably flash Enery Desire HD this week.
Cheers.

Thanks! I just flashed. I'm fighting some other details. But Live Account worked great!
Cheers.

Froyo missing HTC Sync

Is there any solution to get synced with outlook/windows calendar and contact?
The focus is on google applications, so if you search for ways to sync them with google calendar etc it will sync that way.

Yes I understand even if, IMHO, they can't loose integration with M$ systems...
However I used google calendar sometimes ago trying to keep synced blackberry, nokia and outlook... it made me a lot of confusion because it duplicates calendar appointments and gave me also other problems...
Now I can give it a try again.
But, what to do to sync contacts?
I found Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook.
I'll give it a try..
If you have any other suggestion you're welcome

I tried.. it requires Google Apps Premier version.. unusable due to 40€/year subscription needed!!
So I need to find another way again.

try this: http://www.android-sync.com/
It works a lot like htc sync. It does contacts and single calendar entries. they're still working on recurring calendar events.
I'm still looking for a fully working solution.
I tried android-sync but I can't get it working. App hangs during sync and I can't have feedback about sync status.
Actually I can't believe there is no official way to get my device synced with my PC... how anyone can use the phone without contacts and calendars????
Do you think this is why froyo is not an official release?
I use gsyncit http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/ to sync outlook contacts and calendars with gmail then phone obviously syncs with the gmail server. Gsyncit works very well and is very customisable. At $15 one off cost it's a bargain in my book. (prob the first software I've actually bought)

[Q] Double calender items

I have a nice brandnew Desire S, no custom rom (yet) and all original.
I'm experiencing a calender problem I can't find any info about on google.
I have both a google account with appointments, and an exchange account with appointments. When I make a new appointment in outlook, it get's replicated okay to my phone. A moment later the appointment also gets replicated to my google account, and therefore appears 2 times in my calender app (HTC).
Also when I make a new appointment in Google (on the phone or on PC does not matter) it first shows on the phone once, and later it seems to get replicated to my exchange account and it appears also in outlook and twice on my phone.
I dont want replication between the calenders, I just want to be able to look at both calenders.
Anyone an idea about what I am overlooking?
Thanks!

From within the HTC Calendar application
Calendar->More->Calendars and un-select one of your calendars....either Google or Outlook.

But that's not what I want. I want to be able to look into 2 (soon 3) separete calenders, without getting all appointments replicated to the other calenders...
But somehow the problem got solved. The described behaviour has suddenly disappeared. Pitty I don't know why ;-)

Outlook 2010 Sync of Contacts to G-Mail... BEST APP for this??

So I now love Android since getting an Android Gingerbread Tablet and Gingerbread phone... but the one thing I so far can NOT figure out how to do reliably and automatically is syncing my Outlook 2010 Contacts up to my Gmail account (which will then sync from Gmail to my android phone and tablet).
The only way I have been doing it right now is just export my Outlook contacts to a CSV.. then import the CSV into Gmail.. then Gmail syncs down to my phone.
Well this is not the 'automated' solution I am looking for. I have employees that update the Outlook 2010 contact information all day and then I never get the updates on my android phone when in the field. For me to do the CSV import thing every night is a real pain in the ass (my Outlook contact information changes daily btw).
I have a server that stays running all the time with Outlook 2010 installed... I do NOT use an Exchange server btw.. and I do NOT want to use exchange.. so that is out of the question. Basically I guess I am looking for some plugin or something into Outlook 2010 that can sync the 'CONTACTS' folder up with my specified G-mail account.. it would be great to also sync the outlook 'Calender' as well if possible.
and of course 2-way syncing would be ideal.. this way if I am in the field and I get a new contact.. I don't need to take the business card.. give it to my secretary.. who then puts into into Outlook... I would like to be able to the new or updated contact info right into my Android phone.. then it will sync up to Gmail... and then Gmail will sync it right back down into my Outlook system in the office... 2-way syncing automagically would be great!!!!
Thank you all very much for the tips!!! great forum!!!
I was just looking for something like this yesterday. I am in the process of testing Funambol right now. It seems to be just what I was looking for. I just hope it doesn't eat up battery.

you could use this
I previously used some Outlook connector but it was buggy and doesn't sync all info from. Same thing with CSV, not sure if all information is synced. If I recall correctly, there are some limitations on Google's side.
But if you have an Exchange account set-up on the phone, doesn't it intergrate all contacts? Why the need to have them in gmail if intergration takes place on your device?
I do NOT use exchange, and will NOT ever be using Exchange..

Sorry, Outlook for me is fully linked with Exchange... Assumption, the mother of all f#ckups
Right..
So but you must be using some kind of central email server that Outlook is connecting to when your secretarry is filing those businesscards.
MyPhoneExplorer?
CodeTwo Public Folders..
http://www.codetwo.com/public-folders/
it works like an exchange server sorta.. really cool program... takes all the hassle out of setting up and managing an exchange server..
Google Apps Sync for Outlook should work fine for you. I used that and the migration tool when we migrated the company to Google Apps. It should let you specify what you want synced as well.
We did not use Exchange either.

I don't see how doing this can 2 way sync your outlook contacts folder our any contacts folder you specify.. I have multiple contact folders in outlook so I need to specify which one to sync

Outlook Exchange Calender events missing in S Planner

I have the following problem: I am using S Planner to sync with the MS exchange calendar and some events are just not appearing in S Planner. These events do appear on my HTC phone to which I also synch the exchange calendar.
Does anybody have the same problem or an idea where this might be coming from?

Do you have it selected as one of the calendars S-Planner should display?
Same problem for me - but with tasks. I flag emails in Outlook for later follow up and they don't show up as tasks in the SPlanner. Any idea why?

Of course I have it selected to be displayed and synched. Most of the events I can see, but occasionally there are events that just don't show in S Planner, but they show on my HTC phone and computer. I tried creating events on all three devices and they synched to all others, so it must be an error that occasionally happens and then specific events won't be synched to S Planner. I even cloned an event on the PC that was previously not displayed in S Planner and the clone then showed up.
I'm still puzzled, more ideas?
Other threads on this
There is another thread on this. I found that I had to sync email (1 day will do) to get all calendar/tasks to also sync.

Well, I'm syncing everything, email (from beginning of time), contacts, tasks, calendar. I tried setting the sync time frame on calender from 3 months to "all" as well, but that didn't help.
Could you please post a link to the thread you mentioned?

I have a One X and all my Exchange info syncs identically on both devices. I'm on Exchange 2010. It's most likely a setting you have applied either in the stock e-mail client or on the Exchange server-side.

Well, it could be because we have exchange 2007, I think. But I don't understand why only some events don't sync and there is no pattern to them. Also, everything syncs fine to the phone and even to the TPT.
Have you considered throwing the kitchen sync?

I had that 2 weeks ago and it cleared up???
Now the issue is, if I get an email with a meeting invite (ics) attachment, download it, click on it, a window opens and there is an icon to calendar, click on it and a little pop box says 'Success'. All goes well but It never populates my cal or my exchange cal.
Dunno but its killing me...

Sorry, what's that or where do I find it?
Exactly the same here. Any idea? Someone mentioned a similar thread, but I cannot find it.
So the painful way for me to get my Note II and S Planner sync with Exchange working was to totally remove the exchange account (I use MobileIron) and delete the account from settings.
Then add/configure the account from scratch in MobileIron brought back all Exchange calendar entries and sync was fixed, I think its something locally on the phone that gets stuck and requires the account to be removed/re-added

[Q] Outlook (Office365) Calendar?

Hi guys! First post on this forum, and I was wondering if you could help me out with a little problem here :fingers-crossed:
The place I work use Outlook calendar, and I would love to get that showing on my SW2. However I can't seem to find any apps that support anything else than the "standard" Google calendar. I've tried subscribing to the Outlook calendar with Google, but the refreshing of the .ics-feed is WAAAAY too slow (like 6-24 hours), and I need it to update rather fast. Anyone know a solution to this problem?

Thanks to the both of you!
However I landed on adding the Exchange account to the "Accounts" part of Android. After that, it was a breeze to sync calendars.:good:
