Stuck at splash screen now, how ever, after i did a recovery. Gonna try again, and ill post if still doesnt work

I have a fender MyTouch 3G and tried the ICS AOSP in the G1 development section. I flashed the way the guide said to. It didn't work on my phone (no suprise since it's not made for it exactly) it got stuck in a boot-loop on the android screen but never powered down and rebooted fully just the android boot animation screen then a different boot animation screen that said android as well only a little different and then back to the first boot animation so I pulled the battery did a super wipe v2 and tried to restore I'm using clock work mod recovery. But after the restore it gave me the same error, I tried wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache still getting the error any help for a noob would be grateful. Also I was trying to restore my EzGingerbread ROM I was running just fine before.

[Q] AndroidRevolution 5.2.6 Stopped Booting. CWM Stuck in Loop. Please help!

I have an Inspire 4G. I've been running AndroidRevolution 5.6.2 for awhile now, probably 6 months. It's been running great so I haven't had any reason to mess with it. Today it locked up for no reason (no changes, no new apps, etc). It wouldn't boot beyond the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" splash screen.
I jumped into HBoot and then into CWM (version 2.1.3 RC2). I tried wiping Cache and Dialvik cache and rebooting with the same results.
I then tried a "Fix Permissions" with the same results.
I then tried a "Factory Reset". This time it seemed to give the same results, but when I tried to go back into CWM it loops... it loads the file system list at the bottom below the menu, flashes black, then does it again over and over again. I can control the menus (vol up/down, power) for the split second that they are available but then CWM just restarts, over and over again.
I was going to try Gene Poole Factory Reset tool, but it states that the /cache need to be EXT3 and mine is EXT4.
Is there any hope for me? How can I either get back to stock or at least a working CWM (3.0.2.6 or newer) to load AndroidRevolution 6.3.1?
Please help!

Download the Ace hack kit and take the CWM image in the folder tools/recovery. Rename it PD98IMG.zip and then copy it to the root of your SD card. Boot into Hboot and when prompted press volumen up. That will flash a new recovery image. Then try flashing a new Rom from the CWM...
You shouldn't have made a factory reset without flashing a new Rom.

In the Inspire 4G General forum there is a thread right at the top that explains how to deal with this type of problem. Marsdta also provides links to a Recovery img already in PD98IMG.zip format as well as flashable stock RUUs. That should get you back up and running.
I got a good Recovery installed (CWM 5.0.2.6). From there I ran SuperWipe which completed fine. Next I tried installing the AndroidRevolution 6.3.1 ROM and it failed with "Insallation Aborted" and "Status 7". After that, trying to Super Wipe or install the ROM fails and reports "Status 1". I'm trying to re-format the SD card and re-download the ROM right now. Any other tips?
Thanks in advance!

Try flashing some other rom. Maybe the file is corrupted...try installing RCmix3D or Coredroid or maybe some other rom and see what happens.
I'm getting a lot of errors in CMW along the lines of "E:Can't Mount /cache/recover/log" and "E:Can't Open /cache/recovery/log". When I try to run Super Wipe I also get "(cache is unmounted alread)". Is there some problem with how my cache is formatted, mounted, or something like that? When I try to Mount /cache manualy I get "Error mounting /cache!".
Thanks again.

Don't run the superwipe....flash the recovery and don't wipe anything. Just flash the rom...
Tried that just now. Got as far as
>>> Flashing boot.img
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img" . "boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/Android_Revolution_HD-4G_6.3.1.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Is there anything special I need to do in regards to formatting the SD card beyond FAT32 and full format (not quick)?

Do the following....try to change SD card, and don't flash Android Revolution...try to flash this:
http://rcmix3d.blogspot.com/2011/11/rcmix3d-runny-v40.html
Flash that rom to see what happens. Two options, or the zip file you are trying to flash is corrupted or the SD card is having issues...try the rom I posted, if is not working then try with another SD card....that should solve the problem
Formatting the SD card is a possible way of solving corrupted patitions....
Tried this. Flash of the rom seems to have completed but wouldn't boot beyond white HTC screen. Rebooted and still wouldn't boot past white HTC screen. Re-entered CWM, cleared data, tried flash again. This time the flash seemed to load correctly but now I can't even power on... complete brick...
Is there any chance to save my phone?

Ummmm...things are not good. But I heard that if the partitons are corrupted then you are lost. Try leaving the phone with no battery for a while. Then try to boot it...and see what happens. If it boots butvis still stuck in hboot, then return to stock with Gene Pole's tool and make a warranty claim. If you cannot even turn it on...then do the same. But if your carrier finds out you jhave been messing with your cell then you won't get much...

Total brick. Had to be hardware failure that initiated the downward spiral. Luckily I have an ATT DCS Center nearby and the swapped the phone out with a new(ish) one within about 3 minutes of troubleshooting. Thanks again for all the help. Not sure what ROM to flash to the new phone, though all I really want is tethering... Is there anything else out there as "stock" as Android Revolution HD 6.3.1?

Well you can just root the phone and maintain the stock rom...or there is ERBUS ROM that is just stock but without ATT bloatware and some other stuff...anyway you can just check some other roms and decide by yourself...there is no correct answer for that!! glad u solved it.

Undo Format Data?

I am a relatively new android user but do enjoy flashing roms, kernels etc
My problems began when i was trying to flash a new rom on my Nexus 5
I was trying to flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2655722 but despite doing a factory reset and wiping the dalvik cache and cache it refused to boot in to the new rom
I tried to flash the rom multiple times but without success, eventually when trying to boot into recovery to try again i was greeted with an unthemed TWRP recovery asking for a password despite the fact that i had a custom theme and multirom installed I tried to proceed anyways but was greeted with E: unable to mount storage
In desperation i tried to solve this problem and found this
UsoftTech :: WwW.UsoftTech.CoM ::
TWRP asking for password
After unboxing my Nexus 5, here's what I did:
1. Booted into bootloader
2. fastboot oem unlock
3. Flashed TWRP v2.6.3.0
4. Booted to recovery
The screen that greeted me says "Please Enter Your Password".
I can hit the cancel button below this which takes me to the normal TWRP screen. I then pushed SuperSU to /sdcard, but when I flash it it fails because it's unable to mount /cache or storage.
When I reboot to the system, it takes an awfully long time (approximately 30s) to progress past the "Google" screen, and then it just seems to sit on the booting animation forever.
Any help?
EDIT: Solved my own problem.
Hit cancel at the password screen, then go into Wipe and then do a factory reset by swiping. Then go back into Wipe and press the 'Format data' button. You have to type 'Yes', and it will take a few seconds. After that everything should work normally.

I now fear that i maybe without both a rom and all my files such as my music that was stored on my phone.
Is there any way for me to undo the damage i may have done to to my phone?
You can't recover the data. But you can push files over with ADB.

[Q] Boot loop problem after restore to stock 2.3.5 backup from custom ROM 4.3.1

Hi,
First time posting Reasonably Nooby...-ish to hacking around with android but pretty techy in general and have done a lot of reading to try and fix this myself before posting.
Setup: HTC Desire S, ClockworkMod ver 5.8.1.5, HBOOT 2.00.0002 S-ON Unlocked bootloader
I have been running the stock firmware Gingerbread 2.3.5 from new (rooted by me) running CWM Recovery ver 5.8.1.5. I took out my SD card and put a blank one in (possibly stupidly, didn't re-format first), I took a nandroid backup of the phone. Rebooted then changed a few phone settings/apps and restored the backup to test it was okay, and it worked fine.
I then flashed a custom rom (Carbon_4.3.1_1114_saga.zip) and (gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip) from the same sd card, cleared all cache, dalvik, data etc which boots and works fine except that I have major issues with the sound in that it doesnt ring, no notification sounds and terrible in call audio, so have restored my backup through CWM.
As soon as I restored my backup and reboot, the phone goes into a boot loop where by it tries to boot showing the white HTC screen, the screen then goes black it then boots into ClockworkMod Restore. I tried clearing all data, cache, dalvik cache but it made no difference. I have tried a number of things including;
I then tried flashing boot.img to the phone from my nandroid backup in fastboot but again that made no difference.
I read through and followed the boot loop post on here but that made no differnce either.
I tried copying all data off sd card, formatting (through windows) and copying data back, no difference (more of a desperation attempt).
I can flash the custom ROM back to the phone and it boots again into that rom fine
One thing to note which may or may not have anything to do with this at all, is that when I originally wiped the dalvik cache before installing the custom ROM: from my memory, it did so with no errors. Now as soon as I select wipe Dalvik cache in CWM before even confirming to wipe, I get an error: "E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]", however when I do a "wipe data/factory reset" in CWM it shows it wipes /sd-ext. (this part is something I have not much knowledge on).
I cant help thinking theres something I've missed or can do that will get this to suddenly boot. Any help would be really appreciated as I've put a lot of hours/late nights into this so far and would now really like a fully working phone back.
As a side note; I believe from reading, putting a stock RUU update back on will solve the problem but after devoting a lot of hours trying to find one for my phone, I've not had much luck as nothing on HTCdev any more and cant find one for UK on Orange (now EE). And a lot of old links are now dead. As a side question does it have to be the firmware that my carrier sent out exactly for my country, I've read you can extract the rom.zip file from the RUU.exe so could I flash one that is world wide or a uk from another network provider or my network provider from another country, and then restore my backup to my own one, would that actually work/make any difference or just fail?
Thanks for any help
