FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IS THERE A STABLE LAUNCHER? I mean seriously, I'm tired of my launchers crashing all gosh darn day. Before you recommend, here's the list-
launcherPro- awesome but crashes periodically (alot)
TW- okay but also crashes periodically (not as much)
adw- to laggy and slow (haven't used enough to know about crashes)
Regina- crashes every few minutes (3 max)
Zeam launcher- great- crahes least but crashes when attempting landscape-portrait transistion, and has almost no features at all
Is this an inherent problem with the Android OS?-Or, are all these acclaimed launchers just crap. Our sk4gs have some beefy hardware so performance of the device is not it.
Try GoLauncherEX you won't regret it... I use it and I love it...

yeah, I've been using GoLauncherEx for a while, without a single crash. but then again, could the crashing be a ROM issue and not just the launcher?
I've never had Launcher Pro crash on me.. just saying.
Could be a rom issue... I'm currently using the touchmuiwiz 2.0 rom... and it works wonders with the GoLauncherEx launcher

yeah, I haven't had anything crash on me at all, on TouchMIUIwiz 2.0. a freeze-up or two from too much undervolting with Tegrak, lol, but I'm surprised at how much I can undervolt and keep everything working.
i agree with everyone on the go launcher ex, great feautures effects and theme!

I've been using LauncherPro with sduvick's stock KG ROM and not seen a crash yet... methinks the problem lies elsewhere, as others have suggested.
FYI TouchMIUIwizPDT-v2.0 was incredibly unstable on my Sidekick... if you're using that I'd recommend ditching it.

I use SlideScreen Pro, with downgraded Gmail so my notifications work. Best launcher/homescreen replacement I've ever used.
Hey Guys, I myself am an active cross platform user. I'll switch from Mac to PC and from my Android to my iPhone. I love my Android and all the features but I want it to be smooth! I mean just simple transition's and apps I want to be... smoother. I currently use LauncherPro and have used many other Launchers. They just don't satisfy. Could you all suggest me some ways to make my phone much more smoother? Thank you
Flash a ROM or install one of the tweaks.
Use Titanium to uninstall or freeze bloat ware, convert your launcher to a system app, and maybe try Spare Parts for making transitions/animations smoother

hey whats up.. what rom would you flash.. like what tweeks as well.. im running valhalla final..
You can remove most bloatware easily with my SGS4G Debloater. There's a link in my forum signature, right below this post. Removing bloatware will speed up your phone.
Yeah I've removed a bunch of bloatware my phone actually isn't bad at all, I'm just curious about a decent launcher... I've read the launcher thread, but I'm not vibing any of them.. One thing though is it okay to freeze the one launcher while you're using the other launcher??

Yeah, but even if you have all of them installed and defrosted they won't really conflict. If you press the home key you can switch between them. Pretty handy for testing
I'm really liking that spb one.. But I'm not sure about spending fifteen bucks for something that doesn't get updated.. But I just love the whole layout of that launcher..

I love GO Launcher EX.
zeam its the lightest launcher on the market. Not as customizable as launcher pro but still gets support.

i like go launcher as well

I run Valhalla as well with lighting zap, zeam launcher, fast animations, and the kj6 beta kernel. My phone performs noticeably better than the 4s stock with boot time and app opening. Transitions are similar and scrolling long lists seem to perform better on the 4s. Assuming you are actively comparing the two, What differences are you noticing that tempted you to start this thread?

Is there a rom that gets rid of touchwiz completely?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
Its just a launcher, simply use root uninstaller and remove it after installing your own launcher. I strongly recommend either go launcher ex or launcherpro
I use LauncherPro (wallpaper scrolling works) and stock touchwiz.... get an app called Home Switcher and you can jump back and forth to use multiple launchers.
Problem is all the launchers except touchwiz drain battery to varying degrees... go launcher is easily king of battery drain.. roughly 3x the drain of launcher pro... choose wisely.

Very valid.. go launcher is a pos, do some research
no, I'm not the one making up random facts off the top the of mu head. I have done my research, and its why I use launcherpro and go launcher interchangably. If you're gonna make blanket statements be ready to back it up
mkay fanboi.. whatever you say
tru, I like go launcher features, but I'm not opposed to a better alternative. Still waiting on ur proof though... or was it just idle chatter

You trolling, dude?
definately lol, was all talk no substance
Maybe you are referring to go launcher with all of the add-ons turned on like notifications... That could add to drain....
To the op there are only 2 roms for the skyrocket that aren't based on touchwiz and they are both cm7. I'm currently using cyanowiz by Seanscreamz. It's good but da_g's kernel has pretty bad battery drain. If it matters i flashed three ucl modem and the gps fix

I've read that alpha build is highly unstable tk be honest. I personally don't think the bugs I've read about are worth the flexibility of cm. A different launcher is all he needs really, or a ics skinned one. Beastmod 6 for the t989 looks pretty sweet, I'm gonna flash it later today with faux 010m kernel and give that a go
The bugs people state are picky like volume in call i could care Less it never needs to be turned down

I just thought I would share a launcher that I just came across today. It is called FTL launcher and you can grab the lite version free from the market (play store).
It is by far the fastest and lightest launcher I have used. It does not have any fancy bells or whistles and is pretty straightforward. If you are like me your goal is to have the snappiest smoothest phone possible and this really does just that.
Just thought I would share with you guys and see what you think.
I did not create, develop or contribute to this app in anyway. Just sharing with gs4g community
Will try now...
Thanks for sharing. It is blazing fast. Liking it so far.
Edited for Swype misspelling lol.

Has anyone else gave this a try? It blows Zeam out of the water IMO.
I did. It is nice and fast. But I am too used to customizing options in GoLauncher.

Thats how I am as well. I love setting the gestures for dock icons. It completely eliminates the need for me to have any icons on my desktop. The only widget I have is Android Weather. It makes for a much less cluttered looking screen
FTL definitely does not have the customization available that Golauncher, ADW, or Prolauncher have but it is WAY smoother on my phone than anything else I have tried. Thanks for the input. I was curious to see what others thought about it.
I have been using Zeam launcher since Redux 1.2 back in the Froyo days. Never liked ADW, Launcher Pro, ICS, Balancer, GB, Go, 360 or those others that are kinda' new. I will use as an alternative to Zeam (which is still my fave). Thanks for this!
Faster than zeam
But has way more bugs

Hi everyone, I just got the max HD and my complaint is that it feels very laggy Compared to my wife's s3. Thanks!
I'm running liquidsmooth and I really like it so far..... I ran PAC for a few days but it had quite a few f/c's and lockups. I should mention, I've only installed two roms... So Might not be much help..
I had a lot of lag issues with the stock 4.1.2 firmware then installed slimbean and haven't looked back.
Great ROM, very snappy.

Concur on slimbean. I haven't tried anyone else yet and in no rush actually. At some point I probably will just out of curiosity. Anyway slimbean is super nice and much more fluid than stock. I love the idea of the rom being lightweight, still no real sacrifices made. It is also officially supported and with weekly builds. I recommend real dark slim for totally pure black look.
I'm running off Liquid Smooth on my XT926 and it's really smooth and snappy but I'm experiencing problems such as certain apps not working, random reboots, and apps freezing and crashing as well.
Currently running AOKP_xt925_unofficial_2013-07-26 - very VERY stable, snappy and great options/customization
Imo Carbon and Liquid are the best, im on the 7-31 nightly (Liquid) and there is no lag and none of the reboot/freeze issues most of the previous nightlies had. Haven't had a single crash in 3 days

I recommend to try out the very new CyanogenMod nightly you now can find on the official homepage. It is not the most feature filled room but I am amazed how smooth everything is. This is exactly how stock should ought to have been. So far no crashes or any problems what so ever. If you want more features I recommend something like slimbean but cm is a really good place to start. Cm has demonstrated to me for good that the hardware in RAZR HD is perfectly adequate, if there is any lack it is only because of software.
I noticed you guys have Slimbean. I highly recommend it. I got it running on both of my devices, and If I get this it'll be running Slimbean.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288532
It's fast, sexy and it gets the job done.
I'm also back on slimbean again. There is no fault with CM. For some it will be the perfect alternative to stock. It's smooth and simple. Slimbean is perfect for me. It is also smoother than stock and in addition has a ton of customization options to play around with. I'm currently on the last beta or alpha (I'm not sure) that there is a link to in one of the last posts in the slim thread. Despite the status as experimental, it has been completely stabile since I flashed it. For me it took almost I year before I unlocked (fear of loosing warranty etc.) but I'm really happy to have done it now. It's almost like getting a new phone. I think razr HD development is thriving quite well now.
yep the official slimbean build 8 is now out. super easy to install and manage and i am an amateur.

I found that the easiest fix is just installing nova launcher. All of my lag issues were do to the Motorola launcher... Especially circles widget...

I've been very happy with Nova, worth the few bucks, and the scrolling wallpaper again if you like that!
Don't forget to reboot your phone every day or two.

I'm on Stock and it took some time, and some optimation via Autostarts, Greenify, LagFix Premium and Governor Change via SetCPU helped in some way. Additionally i'm using Nova Launcher as Launcher and used Android Tweaker PRo.
Phone is way snappier than before, so i can stay with stock.

You're correct that the stock launcher is the main problem. I've been running Nova for a few months and the difference is staggering.

Just take that ish back my friend and get a new one. I had no problems with mine. Use stability test on play to test processor my MFLOPS was 620. Let the test run for an hour or something. If its messing up post the errors on here. I ran it for an hour on LiquidSmooth with no probs.
