I love zeam launcher pretty fast and lightweight.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using Tapatalk

I've tried most of them and I always keep on going back to LauncherPro. The application drawer is the smoothest of the bunch.

Adw ex is by far the best launcher if you get the settings right its as smooth and fast as ios on the iphone4.

I've bought, and had Launcher Pro. I liked it, but once I tried out GO Launcher, I haven't been back since.

I always go back to Launcher pro its great. I like adw ex but I wish they had the names of the transition effects. it'll make it easier to pick which one you want to use. I would use Go Launcher it smooth and its FREE, but I'm not crazy about the resizing icons or my dock when I pick a dock or an icon for the dock. It'll come out blurry and fuzzy out of focus.
But Go Launcher is great and its always improving did I mentioned its FREE. Its a tough decision but for a home replacement with all the features I would pick Go Launcher.

i have a low end device (about 400 mhz cpu) and launcher pro had the smoothest transitions than all the other launchers

Zeam is the fastest for me, then comes GO Launcher. I use ADW EX tho, it has more customization than the others, but its much faster than Launcher Pro. (For me that is)
I've also tried HeLauncher, its pretty snappy. It also has a feature that has a lot of docks. From Sense, to Gingerbread, to some of the custom Sense docks on XDA.

for me, tag home is light weight and fast, but there's little you can do to its drawer or windows.

I was using launcher pro but after running ADW EX on my wifes Eris I have switched to that for about the last week. I don't see any drop in performance and the customization is amazing compared to LP. From themes to gestures and animations, the icon resizing is great as well. If you want something no frills you can always try Launcher 7 as well. It emulates the launcher from windows phone 7. It all comes down to preference really,i actually have 4 or 5 launchers on my phone that I keep just to show people differences first hand when they are choosing for their phones.

We could all sit here and tell you what our fav launcher is and why but it would not do much good. The speed will very depending on many things. Rom, Background apps, Device, Available mem, the list goes on and on. Best bet is to try them each out and find the fastest one for you on your device

Go launcher for me... Used all 3 for sometime and Go launcher have best of both awd and launcher pro world...

As nobody can ever agree which is faster i'm going to go out on a limb and say they're all about the same!

I tried ADW ex, GO ex and some others. I don't know why, but the only launcher with real fluid animations is LauncherPro.
I also like it's widgets.
Waiting for the completely rewritten LP....

In terms of the "feel" of the launcher, LP has been for me, hands down the smoothest and best feeling launcher (I've tried everything there is to try I think). In terms of plain speed, probably Zeam.

Go Launcher
Go Launcher will be my preference

I just switched to using Go Launcher EX from using Launcher Pro Plus and I think Go is much faster and responsive. However, that's all subject to change after the LPP rewrite is completed.

Launcher Reviews (What I think the best launcher for the G2x is)

I have used the 4 main launchers on my G2X and just wanted to share my findings. I ran each launcher for 24 hours and the fallowing are my opinions.
-ADW Ex was my favorite launcher and always has been. I love the wide selection of skins available for it along with the wide array of options the launcher has. Unfortunately it was the laggiest one on the G2X. I wouldn't really call it laggy but it was noticibly choppy and wasn't as smooth as the others. These findings were odd since it ran very smooth on my Vibrant and Nexus One. Maybe it will be fixed with a update?
UPDATE**** ADW just released a update. I contacted the DEV and he said as of last night ADW is now optimized for duel core CPUs and boy does it show. ADW just took the crown from LP in terms of speed and smoothness. Using ADW actually makes the entire device faster from browsing the web to opening apps. I don't get it but it does. ADW is the clear winner after releasing the latest update last night. Try it out and let me know what you think.
-Go Launcher Ex ran a little better than ADW but it was still choppy in some areas. This was my second favorite Launcher since it has nice features and ran very smooth on my previous devices. It's not unusable but I am very picky about my launchers running smooth. I will try it again after it gets updated.
-Zeam ran very smooth but unfortunately it doesn't have as many options and features as the other .available launchers. Those of you who are minimalist will love this launcher on the G2X since it ran super smooth. Those of you who are looking for more features should stay away.
-Launcher Pro used to be my least favorite launcher but not because it had things wrong with it but because it was the most popular. I like being a little different and don't always like doing what everyone else is doing. That being said, this launcher ran buttery smooth and hasn't lagged once since I have been using it. It has almost as many options and features as ADW and Go Launcher but let's be honest. I would rather have a smooth running launcher than a choppy one with a lot of features. Those of you who think ADW or Go Launcher is running smooth needs to try Launcher pro because you probably won't notice the choppiness until you have experienced the buttery smoothness of Launcher Pro. I don't know why LP runs more smooth than the others but the only thing I can think of is that it's optimized for duel core CPU's. Surprisingly Launcher Pro runs even smoother than the stock launcher.
LP here. You speak the truth, though I don't bother with other launchers.
LPPlus. The Widgets are amazing and the scrolling dockbar is a must.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
I have tried them all and will never leave launcher pro plus.
It is always the smoothest and most stable for me.
Adw ex for me. I also liked the smoothness of launcher pro, but daily I would get more than 1 force close on it. Adw has always been solid, reliable, customizeable and themeable. It also was the first to have the transition animations. Tried go launcher which is also solid but adw trumps it.

Just checked lpro and I agree with you now..its smooth.
Been using ADW EX since my last device (HD2) and haven't noticed any real lag...maybe a bit in the APP drawer. I do own LPP but never installed it on the G2X because of the registration hassle (yes, I am to lazy to re-request my registration number). Haven't used it in about six months, but it seems to be getting lot's of praise. Maybe I'll give it another go...

market launchers

Hello my SGS4G community,
I would like to know everyone's opinion on which is the best launcher for our SGS4g right now?? Right now I have Launcher Pro, which is great, very customizable. However, lately it has been crashing or restarting on its own. Would like to know if there is anything in market as good or close to launcher pro. Perhaps smoother??
thanks guys

I would have to say ADW as well. I have been using it for well over a year. I have tried LP, Open Home, Go Launcher and even SPB Shell 3D and I find ADW Launcher EX to be the best, but that is just my opinion.
i use Launcher Pro and ADW2 Beta
Ive been using GoLauncher, havent had any problems, seems to do much of what launcherpro did, including autorotate of home screen. but i may have to check out this ADW.....curiosity, ya know.
+1 on go launcher. Very customizable. Haven't tried many others, but don't really feel the need to. Go launcher has just about everything you might want.

Thank you guys for all your insights. I must say Go launcher is a really sick launcher that I've tried besides Launcher Pro. It doesn't have the 3d app drawer like LP and Adw does, which sucks, but it has some really cool animations effects and is really smooth.
if you're rooted then you can try TouchWiz 4.5

What is the best alternate launcher for the G2X?

Now that I finally got my G2X updated to GB I was wondering what alternate launchers, if any, people are using and how they like them. The stock launcher is nice but lacks customization features such as resizable widgets, changing icons layouts, removing homescreens, etc.
Go launcher
I can't say enough good things about Weapon 2.3 ROM and it's included TouchWiz launcher from Samsung.
If you are running factory GB on your G2x I can assure you The Weapon ROM is every bit as stable as stock if not better, with way better battery life and a bunch of other cool gee whiz features.
LauncherPro. I've been using since May 2010.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
Launcher Pro - the widgets can't be beat, especially now with theme and icon pack support. At times I try another launcher, but I always come back to launcher pro for the widgets.
I've yet to find people, bookmarks, and friends widget comparable to launcher pro except sense ui. There are others that mimick the functionality, but they usually slow down the device quite a bit. Launcher Pro remains fast.
I think LP has the best ALL Around setup. The built in Widgets are great and backup/restore will save passwords so you don't always have to login again to Twitter and Facebook.
Unfortunately the developer has been ignoring it for some time and is starting to lack some features. While it JUST got theme support, it doesn't seem to be moving very fast. Very limited. Plus they don't have "whole" theme support so icons and widget themes are separate.
I'm using LP now but going back and forth to Go Launcher. Go Launcher has downloadable widgets that are comparable and cool in their own way. Also "Colorize Widgets" also make a good LP Widget Replacement.
So the 3 main ones are ADW EX, Go Launcher EX, and Launcher Pro.
There are other weird ones like Samsung TouchWiz, LG Launcher, Sony Xperia Launcher, etc.
Honestly just find one that works they way you want. I'm currently using ADW EX on my Asus Transformer because it recently added much needed support and features for tablets (which the others lack). On the G2x either one of the 3.
go launcher.. also has widgets.
but you can add to that with colorize widgets. an awesome pack made by an xda user.
the combination is unbeatable in my opionion.
I've grown quite fond of ADW, myself. Though, I haven't tried LP.
I also used a launcher called Crazy Home, awhile back. On top of having extra home screens, it gives you up to 3 desktops...each with 5 home screens. So, if you REALLY like home screens, you can have up to 15 lol. It also allows you to hide apps in your app drawer. I ended up going with ADW, because I could load my own icons, and use them...CH was a bit more limited.
I'm a huge fan of Zeam. I used it on my old HTC Magic because it was fast fast fast on the old hardware, and I continue to use it on my G2x.

Go launcher or ADW

So recently I have have been looking at these launchers. I mainly use go launcher, but I want to hear community feedback on each. I need a launcher that is very light on RAM (G2X has 512 mb ram, 1/4 is dedicated to gpu). So which one do you use and why?

Just like you I'm using Go Launcher because of its smoothness and because you can customize it as you wish. I've also used ADW and LauncherPro before but in my opinion Go Launcher feels smoother. I don't really know about how much RAM they use. Guess I didn't really paid a lot of attention to it

I use go because adw crashes every time I type a text on my phone. But used to use adw on my old phone.
I tested ram use and on my 512mb phone adw used about five mb more ram than go but both are as smooth as each other.
You didn't mention it but if your choice is purely ram use based zeam launcher might be worth a look as it used an average ten mb less ram than adw or go and is still pretty customisable.

Adw is smoother, but I use go due to its useful widgets.
It's smooth and has great dev behind it who updates regular. Best of all it's free.
Both will serve you well if you don't need the widgets that go provide then use adw.

I personally prefer GO to ADW Launcher ... 1000 times ...
It is much more customizable and complete! then we can add GO Locker, GO, GO SMS Contact with different themes to choose from a wide choice! so is all complete with launcher GO!
I recommend and use it forever!
Sorry for my English ...
Go Launcher is the way to go in my opinion.
But it really is all about preference. I recommend trying them both regardless of what people use.
I have at one point or another liked both of them but Go Launcher stole me away with the calendar widget.
It's only up to you. Go Launcher provides much more ''GO'' widgets but your phone will look like someone's else. If you are skilled in graphics or photoshop editing, I recommend ADW Ex where you can literally make everything on your own. I have been using ADW Ex for a couple of months and it's very smooth, stable and like I said fully customizable.
I have been using Go Launcher EX on my rooted Nook Tablet and it seems to work quite well; although the task manager widget does occasionally crash. I have not yet seen anyone respond to the question: How does RAM usage of Go Launcher compare to that of ADW. Has anyone done this comparison and care to share with the group? For some reason I have not been able to get ADW to install properly on my NT yet (need a little more time).
ADW issue on Nook Tablet
Disregard - Like TabletGeek, I too rooted my Nook Tablet but with ADW as the launcher. It works almost perfectly.. The only issue I have is on boot up or navigating to the home screen, I get a "Problem Loading Widget" error. If you go to the all apps screen, it works fine. I've looked all over for a cause but can't find anything that might be the issue so I'm wondering if jumping over to Go is worth it. I'm also not sure how to get from a rooted NT with ADW to load with Go. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Adw is smoother, looks clean (icon graphics) runs great

I have tried ADW, LauncherPro (used for 6 months) and finally used GO Launcher. I have been using GO exclusively for over a year now and love it. Its free and has a ton of add-ons and themes and the GO Team is constantly making updates and improvements. I think there has been like 3 updates just this week alone. Anyway my vote goes to GO Launcher. I use the ICS theme and its pretty sweet, and GO has a ton of performance options.
Definitely Go Launcher
I find GO Launcher to be very sluggish and slow, using FTL or Zeam myself for the speed increase.
I doubt GO Launcher can be sluggish on an Xperia Play WodgeFTW...
It's got decent RAM and a good processor.
I was always a huge fan of Go Launcher but I got sick of it recently (it occasionally failed to load my widgets after a reboot) and wanted a change.

Actually, I find go launcher needs to be restarted every few hours or so for unless I'm running cm7. The stock roms don't seem to be able to run it well. Also, my ZTE Blade which I bought for £89 off contract has more ram (512mb vs 400mb on the play) was able to run it considerably smoother without needing it to be restarted, and it's really mystifying why Sony decided not to have 1gb in there to begin with.
