Doesn't the author frequent XDA?

I think it's because I posted it 1) Without the authors permission and 2) It's *technically* warez because I actually payed for it (and the author took down the download for it on his google code site).
The source is still there though, so anyone can still compile it....

I emailed the dev and this was his response
A great number of users are complaining about the compatibility and running performance. Considering the bad ratings, I temporarily unpublished it. I am doing a rewrite of some of the core modules. Don't worry, N64oid will be back much better in 1-2 months.
Thanks for the understanding! I won't let people down

I really hope he will make it work on Amrv6 devices as well this time...although I doubt he will...

Looks like there's nothing to worry about.

I can live with that, I just won't uninstall it from my Xoom.
I can accept that it doesn't have super performance and I'm willing to foot the bill for development costs up front by paying 6 bucks. I'd pay another 6 bucks if I thought it would help in the long run.
What I need is access to his beta circle

Glad to hear that i love this app and to know that he temporarily unpublished this app to improve upon it makes it that much better ... i cant wait to see the result from the estimated time of 1-2 months.

Aye, promising indeed. I hope he focuses on Sega CD support for Gensoid (and fixing a very minor graphics glitch in the same emu) after he's happy with N64oid. Anyone ever notice that you cant see the water in Sonic games?

It's dumb **** like this that got it pulled.
Please remember that it's an INITIAL release and that a ported emulator isn't going to be flawless right out of the gate. I thought it'd be nothing more than a proof of concept, and being 20+ hours into a couple games I'm astonished at how awesome it is.
This is one of the best devs out there, and definitely the best dev in terms of emulation bar none. You guys need to cut him some slack and don't jump the gun with unreal expectations next time.
It WILL be back and the dev said it will be better too... calm down.

Got my invite as well. So far looking good. Nice GUI plus response. I find it WAY faster than Trillian Beta, although some Skype and Video exchange might be good for next release
The end of the email reads:
"Also, please understand that the build is only for folks who have registered with us for the beta program and is not intended to be shared with any one. "
So now I ask you. Do you think its ok to post it?

That's cute, but why should someone have to Google something that someone's advertising. Obviously if you announce that something out its to garner interest, no? With that being the case, ways the harm in typing even a one sentence description? Seems pretty common sense.
And I just realized that the last two responses before that post could've been a simple description as well, but acting like someone doesn't know what Google is in an Android forum seems to take priority over posting something useful.
Anyways for anyone who doesn't know, it's a messenging client for multiple services. I love things like trillian on my pc so ill be waiting for this one

Hey guys, I am the developer for SurfCube. First, thanks for liking it...
FYI, we didn't have to code a new browser engine, SurfCube uses the built-in browser. However, we did have to do work for the cube effect, accelerometer support, orientation lock, bandwidth saver, and a lot of other features.
Let me know if you have questions.

Well dev, I say listen to your customers....you are talking to a community of devs & users that say they like your work and want it, yes we could find a way to code it, but I can say that I would be glad to pay a buck or two to have this rather than spend the time to get it up and running, and I'm sure that others here feel the same, most of us have put in the time to build things and have no issue with paying others for their hard work. Food for thought

Sure I am listening... but I am a Windows Phone 7 developer, and have no Android experience. That's why I said that if somebody wants to work on SurfCube for Android, I am willing to pay. Especially if it can be done in 24 hours (which I highly doubt - this was a lot more on WP7, which is the most productive dev platform out there).

i.e. i donate 15 bucks he puts in 15 bucks
so its not all of the community paying for his device just helping him
or maybe he should send out thank you android cards made from his blood and sweat to anyone that donates.....

Requesting binary ics drivers from nvidia

Hey guys as many of us are aware, us relying on carriers and handset manufacturers to release os updates is almost pointless. There are many other devices that are ics capable yet won't be upgraded do to carriers and phone manufacturers. What the sgs2 community did was request drivers from qualcomm and they provided. I think with enough community support nvidia will as well. We are one driver away from complete ics goodness, no more crashes or bugs. I searched Google and saw that this community has already contacted nvidia here: http://forums.developer.nvidia.com/devforum/discussion/1726/tegra-2-source-code/p1 and here: http://forums.developer.nvidia.com/devforum/discussion/comment/3236?Sort=popular
So let's group together and work as a team to convince nvidia they will be doing a great service to our community, it will only strengthen their presence in the android community by doing so.
Any developers here have suggestions on persuading nvidia to support us and have them notice us? I think their dev forum is a good start, also social media may help. I wonder how many g2x owners are still out there?
lets make our voices heard and finish what we started.

Quick edit, did anyone else notice the guy saying that Nvidia is trying to release the binaries for Tegra 2 Dual Cores in 2012? He posted this in November 2011:
Hello Android Development Community
We appreciate all the interest and passion surrounding the NVIDIA Tegra Platform and we take our support for the development community seriously. NVIDIA has been working with Google and Motorola to provide the open source community with the required drivers and other binary code to build full Android OS images for the Tegra 2 powered "Motorola Xoom". We expect Google to make those components available as part of the Android Open Source Project soon.
In addition, NVIDIA is working on a full release of Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) for our Tegra 2 Dual Core and Tegra 3 Quad Core reference devices to be made available early next year. This release package will comprise of binary code, drivers developed on our reference platforms and any patches necessary to ensure stability & performance with ICS. We hope the open source community can leverage this release for their work on all Tegra devices.

But I'm a little confused, why, then, is everyone worried about receiving these binaries? Or am I not reading this correctly?

The same issue has been beaten to death on XDA and elsewhere. I am pissed-off that those who newly raise this issue haven't done their homework, they just ignorantly post what has already been dealt with and are using up/wasting bandwidth and storage. The same for others who ask without researching/looking first to determine if the answer to their question exists before they ask. I've stopped answering questions which have been answered many times already. That may be perceived by some as arrogant/harsh/mean/etc. but that's OK, they can keep answering the same questions over and over and over and over and over... again.
