Working FlashLite (version 9 not 10) for Coby 7015 tablet: - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hello,
Had this working ok on my HSG X5A-G but with a few added libs it does pretty good on the Coby 7015. Please only do this if you have some experience and use Root Explorer or know what to do in Terminal or adb. This may not work for you but it does work if you follow these instructions:
1) Download all needed files here: http://www.mediafire.com/?0xdwq6fae45b3cq
2) Extract the 5 files (2 apps and 3 libs) and transfer them to your tablet however you see fit
3) Use Root Explorer to move all 3 lib files to /system/lib then change each of them to reflect the permissions of RW-,R--,R-- (they must match all the other lib files)
4) Install both apps normally using any file explorer or installation apps
5) REBOOT YOUR TABLET!
Open your browser (stock application) and start surfing the net. Do not attempt to go to a flash site immediatly. After you have browsed a few pages you can go to a site like: Show My Flash Player Version and it should return a version of AFL 9,1,122,0 (FlashLite version 9). If it returns this you are set and can start browsing flash sites. I have not had more than a few minutes of testing and I seem to remember there were several sites that do not work since it is FlashLite but it is a start. One of my favorit flash test sites is: Muffin Films by Amy Winfrey , I am not sure why but the short films are funny. If your tablet lags, give it some time to adjust to the new plugin. For some reason the first few times you use flash it takes longer to load and run. No you can't use Hulu or HBO but there are lots of flash sites out there other than these two.
FlashLite runs very well on the Coby tablet but if you are using any CPU software make sure your min speed is not lower than 500 and of course your max is not above 720 because Telechips refuses to release enough sources to compile a kernel. I gave up on that a long time ago... Also a cache cleaner is a good idea to have.
Cheers

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S GT I-9008 in China. No Android market application !

Hello,
just got a Samsung Galaxy S in China (under the name of samsung GT-I9008) and use it with China Telecom as the carrier/operator
Specs as follows
Model Name : GT-I9008
Hardware version : 1.0
Firmware version : Ophone OS 2.0
Kernel : 2.6.29 Zeus 1
To my biggest disappointment, the phone doesnt come with Android market but with the Mobile phone operator own device called MM ( Mobile Market) which is only in Chinese !! and very limited in terms of applications you could download.
Is there any way I could install instead Android Market ?
Many thanks in advance for your reply
Christophe
I have the same problem in middle east.
Any help please.
I helped a friend with the same phone. Basically do the following:
1. Download and install z4root
2. Download the Cyanogenmod Google Apps (EPE54B)
3. Open up the update.zip file and get Vending.apk out of \system\app\ and copy to SD card using UMS mode.
4. Use File Explorer on the phone to copy the file from /sdcard to /data/app
5. Reboot
Any luck installing Google Apps on i9008 (Samsung Galaxy S for TD-SCDMA)?
Guys,
I followed the instructions posted on this thread and other sites, to help a friend who recently bought this phone. Successfully rooted the phone. Installed the Google Apps as instructed, but they all are malfunctioning to the point of being unusable.
- Gmail - only works OK with one account, will not allow extra accounts
- Google Maps - zooming does not function
- YouTube - does not even start
- Market - gets stuck at 0% download point for any downloaded apps
If someone managed to install any (or all of these) Google Apps on their i9008, I would be grateful for instructions on how to properly install.
thanks!!
I installed after updating the official ROM to the latest version. This is 2.1 eclair rather than 2.0 based so may explain why it doesn't work for some people. In that case, using the cyanogenmod 4 gapps files may work.
Another possibility is that not all files were copied from the extracted update.zip to the relevant places under /system (yes, it is /system, not /data as I mentioned in my last post)
These would be /system/app, /system/framework etc.
I daresay that you'll need to copy all files from the folders in update.zip over to the right places. I had to delete some of the Chinese apps to make space for all gapps.
Tell me if it works for you. Cheers.
Hi ,
thanks for your input! As I am not at all an expert on technical stuff and do not want to have my phone no longer working, please let me recap :
- I have downloaded the file z4root.1.3.0.apk --> then i have to install it on my SD card and launch the application?
- Checked to download the "Cyanogenmod Google Apps (EPE54B) and it appears on ur link that there are dozens of different files according to phone models but none for the Samsung GT I-9008. Kindly let me know which one to consider.
Did your friend with the same phone eventually managed to have all google apps including the english android market by doing such installation?
Again, the specs of my phone are :
Model Name : GT-I9008
Hardware version : 1.0
Firmware version : Ophone OS 2.0
Much appreciate your help !
Best
Christophe
Yes, we did manage to get the English market (and many Google apps) running properly.
With zroot, install then run it, choose the permanent root option. It'll reboot the phone to finish the rooting.
The gapps version you need to download is listed in the Cyanogenmod 5 row (android 2.1 or eclair based) and is under the HDPI column (means high dots per inch, or just a high resolution display as the i9008 has). Any of the links in that entry should be fine if they work.
I have realised that in my last post, I mentioned copying to /system/app. This is not possible unless you do the following:
Get http://androidterm.googlecode.com/files/Term.apk install same way as zroot.
Run it then type:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
Quit out of it then copy the extracted contents of update.zip to the corresponding directories under /system using file explorer.
Same thing happened to me w/
Model Name : GT-I9008
Hardware version : 1.0
Firmware version : Ophone OS 2.0
I had to follow the instructions above
thanks for your input..
Is your phone also operated by China Mobile ? was told that it was not possible to root the GT I-9008 being operated by China Mobile.
Anyhow, will try and follow above process.
Well I have watched an interview for Galaxy S2 and they showed a new technology in it...And told that they are challenging the Android market as Android challenged the Iphone...
How about this? Any news?
Hi, now I need some help...
I playing with my China Mobile I9008 yesterday, and as I trying without sucess to find a way to install the market, I think I installed a wrong version of clockworkmod, now my I9008 is bricked (I think). Its starts but after first screen (where's appears I9008 name and so on) the boot come back to ophone screen and keep in this looping more than 20 times... full wipe and others doesn't work
In my mind if I apply again the update.zip can solve, but my file having problems showing erros, can not read the file, etc...
I tryed to find this file but I have no success...
Someone can help me? have some update.zip to my i9008ZMJI1 firmware version?
Thanks.
Install factory image
Ok, I've been trying to find a way to install CM (and the market app) onto my GT-I9008L and have managed to nearly brick my phone a number of times. The only thing I have succeeded in is rooting my phone (use Z4root) and installing a fresh factory image.
(I apologize for broken links, XDA doesn't trust me to post clickable links yet)
To install a fresh factory image:
a) Get the software from this Chinese thread: bbs.dkdiy.net/thread-12788-1-1.html
--The first message in the thread has a link to a RAR file that contains everything you need. Including all the tools & the image itself
--To see the link you'll have to create an account and post to the thread
--I was able to do it by using a combination of google chrome and google translate to work my through the free registration process.
b) run Odin v1.81 (I've tried other versions of Odin...they don't work)
c) select the files shown in this image: www .dkdiy.net/article.asp?id=633
d) the file versions in the image don't match the RAR file. The key is put the CSC file into the CSC blank, the CP file in the "phone" blank, the "all low" file into the PDA blank and the PIT file into the PIT blank
e) make sure you have selected the checkboxes in the image
f) start your phone by holding volume-down+home+power
g) when you see the yellow android digging plug your phone into your computer (you may need the samsung drivers)
h) wait for odin to detect your phone (the first box under ID:COM will turn yellow and list the com-port that your phone is connected to)
i) hit start, wait about 3 minutes, you will see the progress bar update every 5-10 seconds
j) it will auto reboot and finish the installation
To root your phone I followed the instructions on this chinese thread (use google chrome to get an instant translation):
ibbs.91.com/thread-53590-1-1. html
DUDE!!!
I think i got some good news.
I have the same problem with my new S2 bought in China, no Android market. I've been searching all around the web to try to fix it.
It is still not working for me, but i got a little bit farther though.
I find the hint here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351283
So what i did and what you can try is:
1) Install GoogleServicesFramework.apk
This seems to be the issue, as when you install it you can see the permissions Google requires, and pretty much says the can access ALL the data in your phone. (It would explain the censorship)
2) Install Android Market with any .apk you can find
3) Launch Android Market
The change for me is i can now input my account login. But it still fails connecting to google to actually login. Maybe because i'm still in china and it blocks the connection.
Could any one try this outside china and tell me if it works?
Cheers
EDIT:
By connecting my APN and Wifi (instead of wifi alone) i managed to finally loggin. I HOW NOW ACCESS TO ANDROID MARKET !!!
But not so fast. I have access to the market, but i get an error when downloading an app. So it is still not working, but getting closer. I sent an e-mail to google see if they can fix this (seems my account and my device are still not linked). Waiting for the reply...
Alright it's working now !!!
After exchanging a couple e-mail with google, i managed to download some apps.
I've been testing it for a couple hours now, works like a charm.

YES!!! thank you for trying, I'm afraid im nothing more than moral support brother. good luck.
So I just put the .img files onto the root of the internal memory? Then what?
How do I flash the img files? Tried Droid explorer, nada.
I've done the same... but my tablet rejects the updated.img file as invalid and offers its deletion
I think i got it going into recovery mode:
HOLD the Down arrow key and Press the Power button (connect it via usb to a computer prior to do this) now the screen is still black but the computer will try to install usb driver for it ... where is the usb driver ?? LOL
Hello, everybody!
I've been hunting for information about this tablet for some time and decided to stop leeching info and share what I got so far (not much but could be helpful). My primary goal isn't really a flashy ROM (no pun intended, neither about flashing nor adobe flash ), but a rooted device.
Here's what I know:
First of all, my tablet is sold by a different name, but is essentially the same device as next 3, probably a generic Chinese tablet. It is called Prestigio MultiPad PMP3084B:
XXX
All software should be completely compatible between these two devices, as far as I know.
As you can see, Prestigio has recently updated the firmware to 2.1.2. It still has a lot of bloatware (fring, facebook, etc) and cannot be rooted by usual tools, but includes SlideMe app market and an updated book reader (I have used it for a couple of days now and not much is changed from the previous build). If you nextbook users want to try a different firmware, you could try this one (or at least use it in future ROM cooking).
For some reason the links on the main Prestigio website don't work, so here are the links with working files:
XXX
The most useful thing for us should be the instructions and tools for flashing. The instructions given in the .doc files work 100%, both driver installation and flash procedure are fully explained, so be sure to check it out.
Another useful thing I found are the instructions for making a custom rooted ROM for rk2818 devices, found at XXX
I haven't had the time to try those out, but I found some info about people who made it work on various rk2818 devices.
Lets make this thread useful to others, share our experiences and try to unlock the bloody thing.
Edit: Unfortunately, the forum has a spam-preventing feature which doesn't allow me to post outside links before accumulating 8 posts. I will gladly send you the links through PM, just contact me. It would be nice if somebody with higher user privileges could then post them in this thread.

I'm glad to join your initiative, hopefully we can achieve something in this thread. Just one small correction: the screen is 8.4'', which is important as it makes this tablet stand out from generic 7'' tablets.

Hello I have a Prestigio PMP3084B whixh seems to be based on the same hardware as NextBook Next3. PMP3084B even has a secondary interface which looks exactly as the one on the Next3.
I'm trying to root my device, but had no luck yet. If this Next3 got rooted maybe there is a chance for me too. Any ideas?
But Prestigio has just release a newer Firmware Build than the Next3 ... i have saw the ROM on Odys Genesis and it's a better interface than the others two

Dragon Touch
The Dragon Touch Tablet is a better looking momo9 clone. I have tested almost every firmware for momo9 and clones and they all work. You use a program called live suit to install the firmware. You can also install cm9 with the momo9 comp zip 1.2.0 by Christian Troy. Only problem is hardware keys are messed up.
[Guide - Pt.1] How to Mod Stock Firmware to Maximize Performance (neophyte friendly)

Let me begin by stating I do NOT think it is worth it to flash different firmwares. The reason for this is that at this point in time there are no roms designed specifically for our device. As such any rom you flash will likely have bugs (see the above post; also I tried multiple times with multiple versions of Cyanbook, a CyanogenMod port for the Micromax Funbook, and each had the following problems: no autorotate, the internal sd (the 5.31 mb part) shows as damaged, the external sd is recognized as the internal sd, the camera does not work, and the soft back, home, and recent buttons don’t work). Furthermore, even if you should find a reasonably bug free jellybean rom, upgrading to jb would ensure the inability to use Chainfire3d, which is needed should you be interested in running games like Shadowgun or Epoch. Thus, modifying the stock firmware would seem to be the most logical option to get the most out of this tablet. At this point I would also advise avoiding Pimp My Rom, Android Tweaker, Seeder, task killers, and ram management apps; some yield less than favorable results and some conflict with V6 SuperCharger, which imo yields optimal results. So now that we have established it is probably not prudent to flash a different rom, how can we relatively easily modify the stock firmware so as to maximize for efficiency and utility???
***Obligatory Warning & Disclaimer: Although all of the following mods are proven by my empirical results, I take no responsibility if you cannot follow directions and brick your tablet :silly:, but I will periodically check this thread and provide what little help I am capable of should anyone have any issues . Also to be on the safe side I would advise ensuring at least a 50% battery level before undertaking any of these steps; an unexpected shutdown may have deleterious effects :crying:!!!
***Note: If while following this guide you find your performance getting worse (e.g. laggy, slow boot and load times) don’t worry I too experienced such things at various points and the last step “SuperClean and ReStart” will make all the mods work together as an efficient whole. Should you opt not to use V6 SuperCharger you should still wipe your cache and dalvik cache once you are done making changes, after wiping caches reboot (I would advise not interacting with the device for 5-10 minutes in order to allow the dalvik to rebuild without interference).
***Giving Credit Where Credit is Due: I take no credit for any of the following mods, methodologies, or apps (with the exception of figuring out how to extend the usb host capacities and the actual modding of the vold.fstab file not the general method). Links are provided to the relevant original posts/threads, so be sure to check them out and give the posts thanks and the threads five star ratings (don’t forget me if you find this post useful)!!! :good:
 Now on to the fun stuff (be sure to read each step in its entirety before proceeding with it; reading all the steps before doing anything would also likely be wise):
1. Factory Reset: This step is totally OPTIONAL, but it would be cool if someone did it as it would allow that individual to make an as near to stock as is possible nandroid backup that would be permissible to post to this thread/forum. Obviously you can backup/restore all your apps and data with titanium backup, rom toolbox, or a similar app. I would appreciate it as I instituted a number of these mods before I found a viable cwm (don’t know why as I never plan to go back, lol, guess it’s just a sense of completeness or something) and I imagine our buddy chris0488 would appreciate it too as it would allow him to return full functionality to his device. Note: I would advise resetting if you want to switch your internal and external sd cards (see step 7), although I believe you can just copy all the contents of your internal to your external sd prior to the switch and be good to go following a reboot, but I am unsure if this works with the asecure folder (the folder with all the stuff moved to sd card via the native apps to sd function). In my opinion, wiping and restoring later seems cleaner and safer.
2a. Gain Root: You can use the free version of Unlock Root [warning: this will change you pc’s browser homepage, add a search bar, and a few add-ons; luckily all the changes can be undone with minimal effort]. It is a simple oneclick program: enable usb debugging (settings>>developer options) and unknown installation sources (settings>>security) on your tablet, connect to pc via usb, do NOT enable storage mode, run Unlock Root and follow the prompts. Note: You need to have the proper driver installed on your pc prior to running Unlock Root; Koush recently released a universal adb driver, check it out here http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...-driver-for-windows-that-actually-works-on-8/ .
2b. If already rooted and if you did step 1 reinstall SuperSU.
3. Adding ClockworkMod Recovery [warning: this is a cwm 5 based recovery that is not fully functional on our device, it does NOT backup the contents of the external sd, but aside from that it works as it should]: Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1702299 and download the zip from the first post to the base directory of your internal sd card, unzip, install the novotools apk, run novotools, select ‘flash recovery.’ You should get a toast that reads something to the effect of ‘recovery flashed.’ To test if it worked reboot in to recovery (this can be done via novotools, settings>>backup/recovery, or by powering off and then powering back on while holding the vol+ button), make a backup, and reboot. Uninstall novotools as it is no longer of use. If you did step 1 please post a copy of this backup. Note: Should you ever do a restore and all your data is not fully restored just keep restoring it and eventually cwm will get it right (this seems to be a fairly common issue with modded versions of cwm). Also note that should you switch your internal and external sd, cwm will backup the actual external as if was the internal, which is good, but for some reason when using the standard backup option that normally writes to the external sd (post-switch this would be the actual internal sd) it writes to the internal sd (post-switch this would be the actual external sd), which is not a bad thing, it’s just a bit odd imo.
[Guide - Pt.2] How to Mod Stock Firmware to Maximize Performance (neophyte friendly)

4. Chainfire3D: This is more for gamers, however some report more general performance gains; in my experience I noticed no enhancements aside from the ability to play previously unplayable games. You can install it through the playstore or you can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427 (don’t bother with the pro version as the per-app settings do NOT work). Don’t worry cf3d is compatible with our stock version of ics, just do NOT use nightmode. The first time you run the app you will need to install its driver (just install the normal one, as I understand things I do not think the experimental one would benefit our device), which requires a reboot. Upon rebooting you will find cf3d is missing from the app drawer, simply reinstall it and you’ll almost be ready. Run a search of xda or on google and download the plug-ins, place the zips in the base directory of your sd card and install them using cf3d. After installing them you can delete the zips. Now have fun experimenting with the settings and seeing what games you can get running! Note: As noted numerous other places don’t forget to turn off all the default settings when not playing a game that requires it; the reasons being battery drain and image quality degradation.
***The following three steps require a root file manager (e.g. root explorer, es file explorer) so go install your preferred app now.
5. Adding Full USB Host API: Have you noticed the limited nature of your tablet’s usb host abilities (e.g. you can plug and play external keyboards, but you cannot communicate with thumb drives and game pads, despite the fact they are being powered)? Well the reason for this is that the developers forgot or neglected to include the requisite permission. To remedy this quandary you need to manually add it. Download the xml file I made here http://www54.zippyshare.com/v/23184268/file.html somewhere on your device. Using your root file manager select the xml file for move or copy, next navigate to the system/etc/permissions directory, mount r/w, paste, set permissions to rw-r--r--, mount r/o, and reboot. You can now use thumb drives and game pads! Note: You will need a mini on-the-go (otg) cable in order to connect with devices that need to be powered and you will need an app (I recommend USB/BT Joystick Center 6) to get game pads working unless you can manually install the proper drivers.
6. Touch Response & Scrolling build.prop Tweaks: Via your root file manager navigate to the system directory, mount r/w, copy the untouched build.prop file somewhere safe to act as a backup should you ever want or need it (root explorer will automatically make a backup for you named build.prop.bak), go back to the system directory, open the build.prop file with your root file manager’s text editor, and add the following lines to the end of the file:
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
ro.max.fling_velocity=12000
ro.min.fling_velocity=8000
ro.min_pointer_dur=8
view.scroll_friction=0
save, exit, ensure permissions are still set to rw-r--r--, mount r/o, and reboot. Note: The effectiveness of build.prop tweaks are debatable and I added these tweaks after supercharging, which also helps touch and scrolling, I think there were some marginal gains in sensitivity and speed, but it could just be placebo as such you’re probably not missing too much if you skip this step.
7. Switching Internal & External SD Cards (modified vold.fstab): Although there are a number of apps and scripts that can move data and apps to the external sd they all have downsides like ram consumption, getting killed, being tedious, being laggy, and requiring special partitions. I believe the best way to get more really functional memory is to hard switch the internal and external sd cards by using a modded vold.fstab file. Warning: This will introduce one minor bug, after you disconnect your device from your pc when using usb storage mode the internal sd (post-switch the actual external sd) will not automatically remount, the solution is simply to reboot – although this is marginally annoying it is a small price to pay and you can avoid it for the most part by using a wireless file transfer app (I like Airdroid). To make things a bit easier on you, go here http://www36.zippyshare.com/v/75650346/file.html and download the zip I made. Extract it somewhere on your device; you’ll get two files vold.fstab.bak (this is a copy of the original file you can use as a backup) and vold.fstab (which is the file I modified). Using your root file manager navigate to the system/etc directory, mount r/w, delete the vold.fstab file, go back to where you extracted the zip and select the modded vold.fstab file for copy/move, navigate back to system/etc, paste, set permissions to rw-r--r--, mount r/o, and reboot. Check to see if it worked by going to settings>>storage. Magic! Note: I am using a 32 mb class 4 Sandisk and performance seems the same if not a little better, but should you use a different class or manufacturer your results may vary. Also note that if you decide to do this make sure your actual external sd only has one partition and that it is formatted to fat32. If you have multiple partitions the switch will not work properly and I am not sure what will happen if it is formatted differently, but I imagine the switch would not work as the actual internal sd is fat32.
8. Ram Swap: Fortunately our stock kernel supports swap, which basically allows background things that are consuming ram to be pushed on to a portion of a sd card. In order to take advantage of this option you must use an app or script and there are quite a few of them (many of which require a special partition), I recommend Swapper 2 because of its ease and lightness (it eats around 2 mb of ram), plus it’s free. Install it via the playstore or grab it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821071 . Once installed, run it, and from its main settings menu enable run on boot, safe unmount, and safe remount, also set your swap size and swappiness (I personally use 256 mb/60; you can probably set the size to a lesser value as I never come close to use it all). Now go in to its advanced settings menu and enable recreate swap file and reformat swap. Finally go back to the app’s main screen and turn it on. Give it a few minutes to set everything up and you’ll be up and running. You have just expanded your ram! Note: Many of the steps in this guide could be done in any order, however I strongly advise doing this after switching your internal and external that way the swap file is created on what is actually your external sd. Warning: Swap may degrade sd card life.
9. Reinstall/Restore Apps: If you did step 1, now is a good time to reinstall or restore your apps.
10. Debloat System Apps: Using your root file manager navigate to system/apps, mount r/w, delete unused/unwanted apk files, mount r/o, and reboot. Check this http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Barebones web page out and use it as a general guideline for what is safe to remove. I personally deleted livewallpapers and livewallpaperspicker, replaced the stock launcher with apex launcher, and replaced the calculator, recorder, music, and musicfx apps with tiny apps (floating). To turn a user app in to a system app navigate to data/apps, select the desired apk file for move, navigate to system/apps, paste, ensure permissions are rw-r--r--, mount r/o, and reboot. Note: These tasks can be accomplished in a more automated fashion using apps like titanium backup or rom toolbox.
11. Force Apps to SD: I assume you have used the native apps to sd function to move all the apps that would allow it, but usually there are still a few large apps stuck on your internal storage (the 1 gb part). Use an app like Droidsail Super App2SD to force the larger apps that do not support the native function to the sd; experiment and see what apps can safely be moved, most games can be moved without change in performance (e.g. lag, load times).
12. Adding Init.d Support: Init.d is basically the ability to run scripts during the boot process; it is not really needed, but it makes supercharger better as you will not have to set script manager to run on boot. Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933849 and download the app from the first post, install it, run it, select enable init.d support, select verify to check if it worked, and you’re done. Uninstall the app as it is no longer of use. Damn that was easy! Note: I am not sure if the version of busybox installed with Unlock Root has the needed applet so you may want to install a newer/different version of busybox via one of its many installer apps or use the supercharger starter kit [see step 13] prior to this step.
13. V6 SuperCharger: As preparation go to the playstore and install Script Manager. Next head on over to the main thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276 and check it out; I cannot sing my praises for this script loud enough, it rocks harder than ledzep. After you read through the first two posts of the main thread go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021 and download the newest starter kit. Extract the zip in the base directory of your internal sd (if you did the sd switch this would be your actual external sd), run the StartMeUp.sh script with superuser permission via script manager, and follow the prompts (note: SuperSU’s su binary is good and will avoid errors, you should just run this to ensure busybox has all the needed applets and to add sqlite and zipalign). Now go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39519682#post39519682 to grab the latest V6 SuperCharger script and go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914159 to get the latest Ultimatic Jar Patcher Tools. Extract the Ultimatic Jar Patcher Tools zip anywhere on your pc. Next connect your tablet to your pc via usb, do NOT turn on storage mode, run the v6 supercharger script with superuser permission via script manager, follow the prompts and you’ll be supercharged in no time; as the first post in the main thread states, ‘it will hold your hand and explain things as it goes along.’ Be sure when you get to the “Jelly ISCream” phase to choose the manual option and use the Ultimatic Jar Patcher Tools (all you have to do is run the ultimatic .bat file). Also I cannot stress enough do not forget to “SuperClean and ReStart.”
If you followed steps one through thirteen you should now have a mega-dope-fresh-fly custom rom with numerous appreciable performance gains (full usb host capacities, better touch response, faster scrolling, fewer launcher redraws, faster web browsing, better battery life, faster boot times, faster load times, better multitasking, and I’m sure there are a few more that are not coming to mind at the moment). I would also suggest installing an app that hides the bottom/system bar, I recommend full!screen+, so as to maximize your viewable real estate (note: this will throw off the touch mapping in a few apps, so have an easy means of restoring it when needed). As usual be safe when hacking – make backups (after each step?) and always wear a condom (on each appendage?) . Enjoy, Have Fun, & Don’t Forget to Give Thanks!!!
a few updates to my guide
Another way to achieve the same results as step 8 can be found here http://androidforums.com/boost-mobile-warp-all-things-root/610449-ram-swapping-without-swapper2.html . It works perfectly so long as you follow step 12 and add init.d support. Moreover, this will save you a few megabytes of memory and ram. Note: You will need to edit the 99SuperCharger init.d script to reflect the same swappiness value as that set up in your sysctl.conf file; if you don't supercharger will set swappiness to 20.
Also check zep's twitter here https://twitter.com/zeppelin_rox to stay up on all the newest updates to V6 SuperCharger.
Full USB host API
Could anyone post the xml file to enable full USB host API as it seems to no longer be on zippyshare, or explain how to enable it without the xml file?
Thanks
Hi defiant07,
First, sorry for my poor English
I just bought the tablet Dragon Touch Y88 (with Android 4.1.1), and because of the limitations of internal space, I realize indicating step # 7, but the link to the file vold.fstab no longer working. Might you please make a new link or send me the modified file?
thanks
my A7 stopped booting and i contacted the company, they sent me this link.
http://tabletexpress.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=10&Itemid=107
and then tell me to download this upgrade file.
http://support.tabletexpress.com/?model=IMGfiles&file=Y88.zip
youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PagvLih2cc&feature=youtu.be
hopefully this helps in some way of Roms/modding
Is there a way to root the Dragon Touch Y88X? I tried root unlock, but I can't even get the newest version to install correctly. I've tried older versions but my device isn't being detected. I have the generic adb drivers installed and debugging is enabled, still no luck. any help would be appreciated.
does anyone have the newest release of Root Unlock minus the spyware? or any other root method?
Been trying a variety of methods but haven't had any luck being able to gain root. Most instructions relating to Dragon Touch tablets seem to be for ICS or JB, not for Kit Kat.

ZTE V975

Hi all.
I have a new ZTE V975 and i have it root and with gapps but i have a problem with Play Store compatibility. "Financial" apps aren´t compatible with the phone. I think that it is a location problem in build.prop
The problem is that i dont know modify it.... can someone see this build.prop archive to see if can change it to improve compatibility?
If someone want to see it i can upload it.
Thx.

Hi gargamelxda,
I've got the same phone and noticed the same thing with certain apps on the play store. Basically what I found was the device was missing a bunch of Google support files that were in GAPPS zip. Now I wasn't able to flash the GAPPS.zip file through the built in recovery as it wasn't signed correctly for this phone and there is no custom recovery available yet.
What I ended up doing is extracting the GAPPS zip file to my SD card then used the root explorer function in ES File Explorer to mount /system as RW and move the majority of the extracted /system files to the same location in the device root /system folder. Couple of things to remember though:
1) Don't overwrite anything that's already there (there was only 2 or 3 files already there by memory)
2) If the folder already exists don't copy the whole folder but rather all the files under that folder as you may either stuff up the folder permissions or create a new folder as the android file are case sensative (eg the folder "Apps" is different to "apps")
3) There are some apk files you won't want to copy like the "onetimeinitializer.apk" file as it will run the google first time initialization next time you reboot which may stuff up your settings (although if you're planning on doing a factory reset after doing this it should be OK and all the changes you've made will stick as they're in the /system folder). I also found that if I copied "LatinIMEDictionaryPack.apk" and "GoogleTTS.apk" they would constantly crash after the reboot.
4)Make sure you set the permissions after you're done copying to "-rw-r-r--" for the files and "drwxr-xr-x" for any new folders you create. you can do this individually with ES File Explorer but if you're ok with linuix command line you can do it in batches (eg all files with the apk extension) via the Android Terminal Emulator app or ADB Shell over a USB connection to a PC. I don't remember the exact command lines I used but if you do some searching on this forum you'll find them easy enough.
After a reboot the apps should now be available to install (at least they were for me) via the Play Store.
Usual disclaimer - If you stuff this up you may brick your device and I'm in no way responsible for it.
Hope that helps
Cheers

I spent a few days trying to install Google Play the cyanogenmod way, following instruction on a spanish site similar to what other's have posted here. The idea is to mount the readonly systemfolder using the bootloader and insert/write systemapps into system/apps
I succeeded but for some reason launching google play was killed instantly by some resident app on the phone.
On the MIUI forum somebody called Eric Xiang built a google play apk that kills the resident blocker and installs googleplay !
xttp://en.miui.com/thread-3998-1-1.html
I now have a fully operational V975 (4.2.2) with the latest official build B06 and google play.
Out of the box the phone is unlocked but not rooted.
To root it, install xttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15286951/update.zip using the bootloader (vol+ and power on, when v975 wakes up release power but keep vol+ pressed for a few seconds more, then browse to update.zip. Obviously you preloaded the zip on a sdcard.
If ZTE release firmware B08, you'll have to root it again.
Battery life is excellent, as well as speed, camera, GPS fix is instant. I had a iocean X7 that i killed trying to get the gps working, but v975 feels a lot faster vs the X7's MTK 6589 quadcore 1.5ghz. Granted there's less pixels to move around.
One caveat : iCoyote does not install because of binary incompatibility ? This is an x86 device.
I also discovered the existence of AmazonMarket. Not as complete as GAPPS, but a nice fallback market. And most of the google stuff is installable by apk anyway, so living without GAPPS was not as bad as it looked.
Thx to Eric Xiang, his app prolly opens up all androidphones to googleplay, chinese phones can flood the rest of the world now
the above was two days of research guys, enjoy it !

Hey
I'm going to get this phone in the next few days. As far as I know, for 99%, I'm not going to have Google Play on it.
What is the easiest way to install Google Play on it?
I already downloaded B06 since I want to have the latest build.
New ROM´s
Hi, i aplied root, instaled recovery and now search custom ROM´s, Where are thete?
help
Hi... how to root zte v975?
Please help..

Alternative ROM for a RK3368 ereader

Hello! There is a new eReader on the market called Boyue Likebook Mars. It has the processor RK3368, so its a Octa-core with 2 Gb of RAM, and it seems very promising, but Boyue did a mess with the firmware, making it so limited. So maybe there is the oportunity to install another android 6 ROM there.
I searched and I found many ROMs with this processor, but not on an eReader. Aparently there are some Android TV Boxes with the same specs, and they can install custom ROMs there. I can imagine it should not be so easy as to just flashing it on the eReader, but maybe more than the half of the work is done with all the available ROM existing on internet.
Can anyone who understand all this world better than me (not so hard to happen) explain me a little about that possibility? I think maybe the more problematic thing it would be the eInk display.
Thanks in advance to everyone
I'm looking for a root solution for that too. In my case the Boyue Mimas with the very same chip.
Any luck so far?
I was posting the question because the same eReader.
I no longer have the device, but found the firmware better than what I expected,l so maybe it's not worth to install another ROM, or maybe it's not worth if you don't spend many hours customizating it
I would like to bump this question up. Reading and note-taking apps on this reader are very good but there is problem with battery usage while note taking. Even keeping the pen near the screen makes all the CPU cores run at high speed so it drains battery pretty quickly - there is probably a lot of events from wacom driver. I think if I can limit CPU speed (or running cores number) or tweak this driver some way (disable events from pen not touching the screen) it would run much longer.
Hi! I ordered a Likebook Mars and I'm expecting it in a few days, in the meantime. I've explored different options for rooting it and this is what I've done:
1) Download the new Android 8.1 update package
2) Unpack the update-10225.img file with imgRePackerRK
3) Copy the boot image to your Android phone
4) Download and install the latest Magisk Manager in your Android phone
5) Press Install → Install → Select and Patch a File, and select your stock boot image file
6) Magisk Manager will patch the image, and store it in [Internal Storage]/Download/magisk_patched.img
7) Copy the patched image from your device to your PC. If you can’t find it via MTP, you can pull the file with ADB:
adb pull /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched.img
8) Rename it to boot.img. Find the folder where you originally copied it from (update-10225.img.dump) and replace it with the unpatched boot.img
9) Repack the update-10225.img with imgRePackerRK and follow the update procedure as explained by Likebook
Instructions on how to use imgRePackerRK and dowload https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257331
It's a simple process and should work reliably. If you get stuck in a bootloop you can redo the update process with original unpatched update-10225.img to get back up and running.
Once you have root access you can flash NanoDroid-microG-22.6.91.20200821 through the magisk app and you'll get rid of the battery sucking spying google apps while mantaining a fully functional system.
Another interesting option once rooted is to monitor any suspicious app sending data in the background. Now you can debloat/disable unwanted apps and have full control of your system.
