I can't figure out how to keep my google mail and calendar from syncing on my gtab. I went to accounts and sync, but I can't seem to do anything from there. I don't want anything from my mail, or calendar etc to sync. Any advice? Thanks!
Normally, once you're in accounts and sync, you select your google account, then you'll get options to selects which things you want to sync (i.e. Calendar, gmail, contacts etc.)
Are you saying that you can't select the google account once you're in accounts and sync?
I can select my google account and see everything, but there Are no boxes to uncheck It just tells me the last time everything has synced.....
Oops nm I got it figured out lol

Goto Settings -> Accounts & sync
Select the Google account
un-tick Sync contacts and Sync Calendar
That works after you setup the account but there does not seem to be a way to disable the initial sync of calendar and contacts and once I disable syncing of those items it does not get rid of any that it has downloaded.
Any other thoughts on how to disable syncing of google calendar and contacts from the start?

reset yoyr phone to factory specs. then restart your phone. when the htc setup wizard starts skip over everything. once the home screen loads go to settings, sync. now uncheck calander and contacts. now click on add google account, enter in your google information. calander syncing and contact syncing now should not occur (make sure they are still unchecked though)
Hi,
In my Desire S,
------------------Ignore this part - solved
under Manage Accounts, there is google and a few others.
I want to remove some of those others like News, Weather and Stocks.
How to do that ?
-----------------
need an answer for the part below.
Secondly there are some processes which i can see running on process monitor but do not show on the app drawer. they are probably related to some telco apps which i do not need and would like to uninstall.
Would this require rooting ? Any other way to uninstall those unnecessary apps ?
thanks
thanks
So I used to have a G1. I would just add my Gmail account to the phone and select "only show contacts with numbers". When importing Facbeook Contacts, I clicked sync, but did not "import contacts" and it synced photos with everyone. Can someone please tell me a method using the phone only to sync both of these together? I haven't had luck...
Thanks.
Oh yeah, PS This is for the Captivate, forgot to mention I do have this phone...but I guess I shouldn't let anyone assume so.
Hi,
I know you can sync your google calander to the HTC calander, however even tho i have the google account signed in and set up (I also know it works cause my contacts sync) i cant get the calander to, and when i go into accounts & sync, manual tell it to sync, it comes up syncing but nothing appears in my calander??
I also herd that in the drop down menu in calander you have pc sync, calander and then you should have option for google calander but i dont.
Have i done something wrong or need to tell the phone to do something??
Cheers
Can anyone help?
Download business calendar from market then uninstall it. It should work.
Or factory reset.
Those 2 methods work for me. Hope can help u.
Send from my awesome HTC Sensation + XDA Premium app.
Might be a dumb question - but have you activated Google calendar to be shown??
Check in the settings of Calendar which ones are shown and which ones not...
- mwie -
Yeah i have checked and its not an option in the drop down list. I only have pc sync
But when i go to sync and force it to sync still nothing.
i dont want to factory reset, thats too much hassel, i try the bussiness download.
Downloading the bussiness one actually worked, i now got the option to tick untick the google one in HTC. Im just not sure if i like the business one better than the HTC one now.
Thanks anyways im going to run both and see which one i like.
I cannot find business calendar on the market place?
Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my friends calendars not appearing.. found this thread http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=16486 see post 18 and followed that.guide.. downloaded pay app on market (SQLite editor) it searched the whole phone and found calendar.db automatically.
Hope this can help..

I'm trying to back up so I can make the leap over to Gingerbread on my infuse, so I want to back up my contacts to Google, but I can't seem to find out how. I have the Google account in the accounts page, and I have it set to sync my contacts, but it isn't showing up there. Then I changed where my contacts are saved in the Settings of the Contacts app, and they still aren't showing up in google. How do I set it up to sync my contacts properly?

In the accounts page try clicking on the account you want to back up, it will then give you a check box menu to sync contacts calender etc
On you home computer go to Google and see if your Contact show up
hope it helps!

I did do that and everything was still checked off, but it's not synced on google..
I am trying to set up Google Contacts. I imported contacts from Outlook fine. Then I synced them to my phone (Samsung Light) -- all fine.
BUT, when I went to my Note 10.1 to sync them I found that in my Google Account there is no option for Google Contacts, only something called People. It does sync GMail fine. Sync is on.
I've tried many things -- deleting the Google account and re-establishing it, clearing the contacts cache, etc. But with no optionon the Google account page for contacts, I can't even try to sync them.
Anybody ever come across this before?
Thanks.

you should have a separate app called Contacs. And in settings under account you can sync. Just use the contac app
Shaun:
Yes, I have been using the native Contacts app and syncing it with Outlook via Kies. I want to try using Google Contacts instead. I deleted all the contacts within the app and cleared all contact data/cache.
The problem is that when I go to Settings>Accounts>Google and then click on my account, there is NO option to Sync Contacts. There are options for App Data, Calendar, Gmail, Internet, People details, and Picasa Web albums -- and that's it.
Thanks

When you click on your account is it your gmail account..
Yep -- but finally fixed it. I just finished doing a hard reset of the Note, which I hated to do because it will take me hours to get it back the way I want. However, as soon as I did that the Google account started showing all the options, including Contacts.
Thanks.
