Hey guys and gals...I have a question (possibly favor if you have the knowledge and a bit of spare time)
I really like the "ocean waves" live wallpaper that came with the SGS phones and have found a free version in the market, however, I would like to replace the background to the one that I have attached.
can someone please tell me how this can be acheived...or if you know how to do it and have a few minutes, can you do it for me?
Thanks for the help
I have replaced the live wallpaper backgrounds in cm 7 live wallpaper using ninja morph, just replaced one of the stock backgrounds in the framework folder. Should work for waves too. You could also move the apk to your pc, open up APK Manager, decompile the apk on your computer, replace the file in the framework folder, compile & sign, move the apk back to phone, install. I will do it for you if you post the picture... There is nothing attached in your post.

oh sh!t...I feel dumb, sorry about that
You can try this, http://db.tt/eE3l7Jq this is a modified version of the free ocean waves I found on the market, it force closes on my phone even before I modified it, cm7 on tmo- G2. Let me know if it works for you.
*I had to resize and crop you picture.
If you upload the live wallpaper apk from your system/app folder I could modify that one, it would probably be better then using a market app.

EDIT-------------------------------------------------------------------------READ THIS
ok so right after i posted this i stopped and thought about something. im not sure if your icon placement and widgets and everything you have on the homescreens are in rosie.apk or elsewhere so DONT DOWNLOAD THIS until i get an answer because i will feel really bad if someone does DL this and loses everything on their homescreen.
EDIT--------------------------------------------------------------------------READ THIS
so please dont bash me for starting a thread with this but i really got annoyed when i added a homescreen wallpaper but the quality was horrible. so this rosie.apk has simply one new wallpaper and it is the first one. it is the google X from the nexus one bootscreen with blue green red and yellow for the X and the rest is a dark dark black.
Install-
download the rosie.apk
open a file manager with root access and copy this rosie.apk over the one in /system/app
really simple but i love the amazing quality. if people want i will replace all the home wallpapers with custom ones. throw me some ides to put in the spots.
hope you all like it
LOL dont the widgets have their own .apk? I believe they do...From what I see there are no widgets in Rosie.apk.
yes
but i mean rosie tells it where to go so unless by some goddly chance they have everything i have in the exact same place then there will be nothin but errors for the widgets.
anybody else have any info?

I was hoping the black wouldn't be so dark
it wont let me copy over to system/app. says system is read only.
why don't I just put the wallpaper on my sd card and set it that way. seems way easier than replacing my whole rosie.

You need to do a adb remount to push it over...And whats the sssh?? LOL I have all my wallpapers on my SD card and its fine for me....
any screenshots?
so still no idea what will happen if you install this over your rosie.apk so if you do MAKE A BACK UP OF THE ORIGINAL
and screenshot of the background is in the attachments. i love that its true colors and true black the hero screen is great.
anyone download and try yet?
So I can't believe nobody has posted it yet, but I have been looking all over for this, ended up finding it over at Android Central.

Looks like it does. I still have mine show up, but they force close when trying to select them. I don't care though. I love this one.
Here you go. Screenie!
If anybody wants to take this and load it into the stock live wallpapers, maybe even add the Samsung Galaxy live wallpapers in it, that would be awesome. That is beyond my capabilities right now though.

Did you get any error message in ADB or did it tell you how much data was pushed? Also, I'm assuming you went ahead and set the wallpaper manually.

This is probably a newbie question, but if I load up this APK, how do I get back my original live wallpapers? I use the HTC Droid Incredible, btw.
question to those that have it ...are there settings in this lwp like change background or maybe the color of the eye ..or what i see is what i get from the pic shown

Try this
Code:
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/LiveWallpapers.apk LiveWallpapers.apk
That will pull your old Live wallpapers. Put those where you can find them later and put the new LiveWallpaper.apk in your <sdk>/tools folder (because you can't have two files with the same name in the same directory).
Then proceed as directed in the first post.

No settings. Just the option to save it. You can probably change the back ground though by pulling apart the .apk
** EDIT **
Okay, so I tried opening the apk and replacing the droid_bg.jpg only to find out whatever I replace it with comes up as a blank white screen (I even sized it to the odd 1025x1025 size the old one was even though both of them had large white areas in the .jpg). If anybody else wants to give it a try, I am attaching the wallpaper I was trying to use. It is the default regular wallpaper from the Droid X

I'm a total newbie, so I haven't rooted yet. I don't think I'm considered a "power user" yet, so I didn't want to accidentally brick my phone. I came over from blackberry, so I'm still getting used to this new system. Soon enough I'll be getting my hands dirty with this rooting business.
Anyways, I don't have the ability to pull the original Live Wallpapers... would it be possible for someone else to pull theirs, and post the APK online for me? I've been using "AppInstaller" to implement all of the APK's I've downloaded. Just been playing around with the Galaxy S LWPs. If it's a hassle, don't worry about it. I'll figure root soon enough.
Thanks for the quick reply, by the way!!
Can someone upload a version thats not .apk so i can download it on my phone, im at work
standalone version
Credit to ccunningham83 for posting this.
Standalone version
This is what I did:
decompiled,
changed the package and app name,
removed LWPs that install by default,
rebuilt,
signed
updates:
1)removed unnecessary images too, file size now 1.1MB
2)added Blue, Cyan, Green and Golden eyes!
3)added a blue eye version with alternate background.
4) 7/15/10, added grey version by request.
5) 8/30/10, by request added a red version with black background. No smoke.
6) 9/15/2010, by request added a new red version with the smoked grey background
7) 1/20/2011, green eye with colored smoke
Screenshots:
To uninstall:
Code:
adb uninstall com.android.wallpaperx
APK attached, install as normal.
MediaFire Links:
[blue] [cyan] [gold] [green] [red] [blue-alternate bg]
[grey]
[red-greybg]
[green-colored smoke bg]
Here is a video by myghtymouse19 showing all versions on an EVO:
I had issues trying to remount so copied the file to the root of SD then used Root Explorer to copy and paste as R/W into /system/apps/ then click on the the apk and install it... then youll have it. Also even though you overwrite the default wallpapers, this file is the default wallpapers file with one file added the droid x eye lwp, thats all... so your not loosing anything.
Thanks Britoso! Works great!
Brilliant work guys, especially britoso.
Just adding that this also works fine on the Desire. I just used Astro to install britoso's .apk and it worked fine. It even kept all my current Live Wallpapers and just added DROID X to them.
Hope no-one minds but I made a post in the Desire forum pointing to this thread to share the love!
Thanks again,
Oz
Well it got 4 views, but now link to the attachment is broken....any particular reason, Britoso?
EDIT: Nevermind, back up. Thanks
many thanks to you, britoso! the file worked beautifully
I was able to push the apk just fine to my N1. I'm now running Samsung Galaxy S, N1, and this Droid LWP.

can anyone post up a themed version of the stock or new MIUI rom flashable 3G indicator, themed to match this (or both):

Thanks!
Do you mean you're after:
A theme for MIUI which has the 3G icons from that theme
or
That theme with the MIUI 3G icons?

I know. I really want it lol, because i kinda hate the 3G indicator in the theme i have currently, as it's hard to see the upload/download arrows, so i just wanted a flashable indicator so I dont lose the cool notification pulldown
I can edit it with photoshop if I can find it. Can anyone give me a hint to the file path?
EDIT: Hah...ok I suck and fail.
I found the apk and edited the images. Looked great. Put the apk back together. Unistalled the original apk and tried to install my modified apk. Would not install. I'm done with it for now. I guess I will read up on signing tomorrow although I thought I had read that system apps didn't need to be signed.
I'll play with it more tomorrow.
do adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
And the images should n in the drawable-hdpi. Folder if not just look around until u find the images
Then pull the framework from your current Rom and replace your images with the images you want then repush your framework hack to the phone and reboot

If you figure it out can you pack a zip of just the 3g icon in blue as well for me?
Thanks man
Thanks for the tips. With a little help from google, I was able to figure it out.
Which icon did you need exactly? The 3g toggle or the notification bar?
well, i did it and replaced some old icons with cooler looking ones, but the 3g icons (along with similar data icons) did not show up. all of the other ones showed up. also, i read a thread where this dude got 4g icons from another rom and installed them on his phone to make it look like he had 4g, but then hours later, he experienced loss of mobile data... and now i think i am too... any suggestions?
I'm sorry I can't help you. I am learning all this myself and wouldn't pretend to know where to start on that. All I can say is that if you are going to make any changes then backup early and often.
The 3g toggle icons I was looking for were in system/app. I merely reskinned them and dropped them back in.

i wanted notification bar icon
I'm running a theme and mine is already skinned. I think either way you would still have to adb push it onto your phone. I did some googling and took a crash course on changing system icons.
Once I figured it out, it made sense (i know that sounds stupid, but after i did it, I was like oh yeah I get it now). I know that's not a big help, but I'm new to this and wouldn't want to bork your phone. Maybe someone more knowledgable will come save the day.
Otherwise I would google in terms like editing apks and adb pull adb push etc. and maybe you will figure it out too.
Hell I can't wait to ruin my phone now that I am armed and dangerous =)

Lol, i actuallly finally figured out how to extract the png's, so i am going to edit in photoshop, then replace the current images with the app ninjamorph.
*didnt work* left a huge blank space on noti. bar and when I rebooted to see if it would show, I bootlooped*
Well. I spent last night learning to resign edited apk files, so literally nothing on my phone is safe now.

Is there any way to pack the png's so that I can flash them or install as an apk?
Anyone know how I'd do this? I already have the edited png's.
Can I send any of you guys the folder with the icons and you can help me out with this?
Thanks again
It seems the easiest way to change or theme icons is to not unzip them. Just open them with 7zip and make your changes, then close it. They will stay compressed and all of the info and size will remain intact.
Once changed you will have to resign the apk or zip file.
I spent the better part of 2 hours reading up on it using these forums and google, but I do not in any way feel knowledgable enough to instruct you on the finer points. There are oodles of topics on editing apk's and signing them when you are finished.
The steps seem pretty clear:
1. download or pull apk
2. open with 7zip
3. make changes keeping sizes and file names the same
4. close
5. re-sign the apk or zip file (most likely have to delete the existing files to the original signing which will be replaced with your own)
6. push or install the zip or apk (make sure the original app is uninstalled prior to reinstalling the changed app)
There are various methods and tools. The most helpful thread I found on signing is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473580
I hope this covers it all and is helpful to you. I am new at it and can only tell you to backup everything and if you are unclear on any of it, then don't attempt it.
Read all the posts related to it. There is great info and plenty of feedback on known issues or mistakes others have had.
Help!
I'm trying to theme the widget of the subsonic apk.
I downloaded the original apk. I then proceeded to decompile it, add my custom widget graphics, recompile the apk, and sign the file. I was able to install the apk with no issues. I was even able to add the widget to my homescreen, and it looked fine. But every time I open the program, I get an immediate force close. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
If someone wants to take a crack at it for me, I've attached the original apk, and the graphics from the drawable-hpdi folder. I'm probably missing something here, so I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
Okay this is driving me nuts, I've tried everything. Here's the widget background.

first off the new png's are not the right size. your png's are 32px and they need to be 48px. i cant edit them at work so i will try again when im off but for now try this

let me know if it installs or not.
No such luck, won't install.
Would LOVE a more aesthetically pleasing widget, my subsonic server is my new favorite feature for my mobile!
Subsonic is amazing! I just despise the widget. Its so ugly.

Bump for more help... I think I've attempted everything. I noticed that for some reason when after recompiling the apk, the button images have been switched to 32x32 pixels and the drawable-hdpi-v4 folder is renamed to just drawable-hdpi. I don't know what it going on. I'm using apktool.
hey sorry man. i just got busy. hey if you have all the pngs the right size then i would rename it and sign it. some apps are just very hard to mod and install

I had the exact same problem as you did trying to get that wallpaper back...
I really do like it a lot & I think it's the best of the entire bunch that is included in that ROM.
The long answer to your question is in this thread, second post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480248, which states,
How i can get the blue eye (or any other) wallpaper again?
Which ROM was it in? Do you still have the .zip?
- Pull the system/app/Launcher.apk
- Unzip it. Yes, apk is a zip file.
- Look in res/drawable-hdpi folder.
Although I did manage to open the apk file mentioned above, I did not see that particular image at all. I even tried a bunch of other files, and of course, it wasn't there, either.
Needless to say, I managed to find the wallpaper I was looking for on another of lumin30's posts and I saved it to my harddrive.
*************************************************************************************************************************
I stand corrected. If you follow lumin30's instructions, (written directly below this post), then you will indeed find that exact file. It is called, "default_wallpaper.jpg". From what I can tell, it's the only wallpaper that is in that file.
*************************************************************************************************************************
I know that some images need to be resized depending on the launcher that you're using. I kept having problems with my wallpapers fitting correctly when I was using Go Launcher EX.
I read around on the Internet & found a post suggesting an app called Wallpaper Wizard ii. It's available on Google Play Store for free. The good thing about that app is that you can use it on whatever image you want.
Before you give up, perhaps you should give that a try.
The default wallpaper is found in the \system\framework\framework-res.apk.
Then in framework-res.apk --> \res\drawable
I tried the picture you posted but when I try to use it as my background, it's a blurry and not the whole picture
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
I pulled it straight from the ROM for you.
I use this one...

Got any more backgrounds? I'm looking for brighter ones since all icons in VB are kind of dark. Thanks!
does anyone know how to put the whole background in?? because it forces me to crop it and i dont want that
Whenever I used Wallpaper Wizard ii, I just set it to "scale" & it looked good to me.
I can't tell you for sure what all that did, but I was satisfied with the results.
Good luck & don't forget to let us know if you find something that works better for you.
Put the wallpaper in framework-res.apk in the res/drawable-hdpi folder then reflash the rom
i found it, do i just post it anywhere in the folder??

Couldnt he just push the .apk to /system/framework and boot to recovery and fix permissions? That would avoid having to reflash and download apps right?
