Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum (and to WP7)... I've been trying to install some .xap's, I successfully unlocked my HD7 with chevron, and I deployed one .xap with no problem... then I reconnected my phone to my pc and tried to deploy a few more but I keep getting the same error (with Application Deployment tool):
"Error - Installation of the application failed. XAP package signature is not valid or the WP manifest file is invalid. Re-sign with valid signature and fix the manifest file."
Can anyone please help me out with this? I can't seem to find anything about this on the web
yeah, its odd...some xaps install fine, but a particular few that i download give the same error and its killing me

I'm having trouble finding a way to disable the certificate verification, in order to launch an old .exe file that worked perfectly on WM 2002. I've searched everywhere but no solutions worked for me.
What I've tried (and don't work):
* DisableCertChk.EXE (Only works on PPC 2002/2003 and smartphones 2002)
* Hacking theWindows Mobile 5.0 Registry
* Sign the file with signcode, and install the corresponding certificate
Any idea to make WM6.5 accept to launch my file?

do you get an error while trying to install the CAB file? maybe the problem is not the certificate verification but windows mobile version verification.
Hi, thanks for the answer. I'm not trying to install a CAB, but to execute a .exe, manually copied on the phone.

serious answer please.. I did try thoose things too and a "few" other things..
i try to load some xap files into my phone using Tom XAP Installer v1.1, but i consistently got some error messages. i tried every method and can not fix it.
1. make sure your phone is unlocked
2. make sure you connected device to pc and zune launched.
My device is 100% sure unlocked and i have every tool installed in my machine.
Finally i used application deployment tool by MS, and i got error message:
"xap package signature is not valid or the wp manifest file is invalid. re-sign with valid signature and fix the manifest file."

The XAP's are DRM protected. I know multiple ways to strip off the DRM, but that would be illegal and therefore I will not give you instructions on this forum. That would violate the rules of XDA forum.
The guy who gave you the xap used the wrong compression method to generate it.
- Rename it to .zip
- Decompress the zip
- Compress the decompressed files with Windows Integrated ZIP (Right Click->Send To)
- Rename .zip to .xap
so basically if you knew multiple ways to strip off the DRM, i can google it and do it by myself.

simply re-decompressing the file will solve my problem? i doubt.

I think you can use WP7-DesktopMarketplace
And remember to choose Remove DRM & Replace signature
Last night on 5-11 i was able to restore my samsung focus to pre nodo and unlock it and install the certificate and put the chevronwp7 ringtone installer but i keep getting an error that says cannot find file Ringtones.xml in the application xap package also everytime i try to use the chevronwp7.ringtoneinstallrt.exe it crashes it will say it has stopped working and needs to close when i try to create the xap file please help
right-click on the exe and run it as administrator if you are using Windows Vista or 7.

It's probably not the proper APK if it says that, I'd suggest getting the APK from another source.
