I have an adapter with microphone that allows any headset to be used for calls and music control, with iPhone. Tried to use it with Inspire 4G and got no sound whatsoever (regular headphones work fine, but of course, no mic or music control then). Pictures of HTC headset with mic show similar 3 ring insert, but something must be slightly different. Has anyone successfully used a microphone headset specifically for Inspire 4G, and/or an adapter that will function with any set of headphones?
I have 1 with an inline mic.
However the sound quality when I plug it in is HORRIBLE compared to just headphones.
Dont know why.
Have tested this with 2 inline mics.
I'm using a Monster iBeats in ear set with my 4G. Sound quality is great for music, very good for phone.
My inline mic will pause music but the volume does not work for music.
For phone calls, I can mute, unmute and answer, but volume control does not work.
This set on my wifes iPhone the volume control works for both music and phone and also allows you to forward itunes tracks.
I just use the volume control on the side of the phone on the Inspire with this headset.

I do not notice any difference in sound quality whether I use the Mic or not.
I'm running Rooted Stock ROM with bloat removed.
There is an app called Headset Button Controller
Just installed it and I can adjust the volume, move forward and back in music tracks and also turn volume up and down with this app installed in media apps.
Interestingly it only uses the center button to do all this on a three button headset.
In phone mode center button ends call. So it does not change anything compared to not running it.
I'll run it and see how I like it, initial impressions are it fixes what doesn't work native with the headset in media mode.

Im starting to wonder if there is something wrong with my phone now
I THINK what is happening is that when I connect my mic it switches from Stereo to Mono. Duno tho.

I have purchased this app and will say that it is great. I use the same headset that I use to use with my ipod but now I find it easier to use. I use my phone while riding the motorcycle and I feel like.I have greater control over the music now..only problem I am having is people can't hear me through the Mic on the headset. Any ideas. No it didn't work before I had the software.

Hello,
When listening to music -
Does this phone support the wired headset button on newer earbud/headsets to pause and FF to the next song?
thanks in advance
Kevin
I'm using the headset from my Nexus One and it has the play, forward and back buttons and it works great. I like it because I can plug them in and hit play without ever waking the phone

I didn't know Android phones could work with headsets like that. Is it a particular headset or will an iPod compatible headset that has the track & volume controls work? If it's a particular headset, would you give me the MFR & model?

i'm interested in this as well. i have the pair from my nexus, but much prefer apple ones.
Thanks for the response.
I use these earbuds on my captivate -
JBuds J3M Micro Atomic In-Ear Earphones with Microphone (look on amazon or other places to buy...)
They sound great and allow me to stop/ff songs on my captivate with the PowerAmp music player.
Other music players work a little differently but still support pause/FF songs from the switch on the wire, which is a huge benefit and time saver.
good luck
Kevin
These are the same ones they gave me when I bought my Nexus One... they work really well for me!

Im using my Samsung headphones from my Windows phone I traded,
and I all I am able to use is the headphone button underneath the volume control which allows me to make a call to the last entry when I double click it, and when i hold it, it brings up the voice dialer. I swear the other day, I was able to go to the next and previous songs when i hit the volume controls up or down. But now that doesn't seem to be working. The volume buttons never seemed to work with the phone, so I guess its just depends what headphones you have.
stock headphones button to control music playback and other features don't work...new device, is there a setting I need to turn on ? sound comes through just fine as well as notifcation and calls however answer button/play pause etc. dont do anything. When headphones connected there is a headphone picture in upper corner that is all. any help?
Make sure the jack is plugged all the way in and the headphones icon has a microphone. There are two headphones modes, one with the icon just showing the headphones, in which the play/call button does not work, and one with the icon showing the headphones as well as an attached microphone, in which the call/play button is enabled.

I use my phone as an audio player in my car (connected through aux), and have a problem. My problem is, in order to change tracks, I have to turn the phone on, and switch tracks. Is there an accessory that will let me do this by just pushing a button?
I saw this:
http://www.htc.com/hk-en/product/accessory/headset_rc-e100.html
But heard that it doesn't work on our phones. Any suggestions?
Motorola T505. It's s Bluetooth speakerphone with a FM transmitter. You stream your tunes and phone calls from your Inspire through the T505. Check eBay. I paid $40 for mine.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using the power of the dark side.
It seems that with that the sound will be emitted through the device itself and not through my car's speakers.
Run the tpgb rom. Has audio controls on the lock screen. Click volume key to turn on screen(another great feature), then click to skip track.

It has a FM transmitter. It can play through the built-in speaker but doesn't have to. When you turn on the FM transmitter, a small voice will tell you what frequency to tune your radio to and it stops playing through the speaker. While broadcasting through FM, the volume buttons become track forward/reverse.

From what I've read MIUI and CM7 also do this, correct? I would do this, but I'm a big fan of sense. Maybe I'll try it.

Try the Headset Button app. I can manage tracks using the one button on my earphones. Check out the trial version first.

Good luck!
Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I finally found a way to make my volume rocker skip music on a sense rom, without having to buy anything. Thanks again.
love this feature. Coming from an Iphone, I really missed that.
So I ordered the GoGroove Bluegate Bluetooth Receiver from Amazon the other day and my package was delivered today! Woohoo!
I got everything set up in my room and was very impressed. I'm no audiophile, but I noticed no difference in quality between the Headphone jack and BT audio.
So out to my truck I went, got it all wired up the way I like, and started playing some tunes.
On Batakang 1.00 and using DoubleTwist, the volume was WAY TOO LOUD. It was also pretty distorted. So I made sure the stereo, BT volume, and media volume were all at the lowest settings to no avail. Still incredibly loud.
Is this phone just loud as hell? I know the external speaker is louder than most other phones. Is it software or hardware? Is there any way I can force the volume down? (Side note, I miss the expandable volume controls after pressing the rocker in CM9/CM10)
Any help is appreciated!
Use Audio Concert Pro from the play store and it should give you everything you need.
Cheers

It sounds like something in your setup is causing it to bypass the volume settings and just play at max volume. I use my phone all the time for bluetooth audio on 2 blackberry bluetooth gateways (home stereo and office stereo) and a sony bluetooth audio car stereo and I am able to control the volume just fine from both the phone and the stereos.

I think I figured it out. I installed "music volume EQ" from Play and I adjusted all bands to -15 db. This surprisingly made all volumes much more acceptable. I noticed media volume over 8 used to sound the same, like it was maxed out, but it seems much more granular now, and lower volumes are more "normal".
I suggest this fix for anyone who is unhappy with any volumes.

I know this topic is way old, but I know what the problem is. I unlocked and flashed cm10.1, and while the bluetooth takes a few seconds to lock on, it now is at a reasonable volume, the BT volume slider changes volume, and it never jumps to 100% after connection. The Motorola BT drivers must be wonky. Anyway, that's it! Moto screwed up.

Hello,
i have one big issue that prevents me from fully enjoing marshmellow roms ,the bluetooth audio.
I have a bluetooth headset from lg hbs-730 an they work just fine with every android (this year i changed like 15 handset) and NEVER had any problem, they just works.
BUT they dont work on a oneplus with mm rom and i can't understand why.
the headset connect via bluetooth with no issue and audio comes out fine at first, but when you get heavy bass or just a lot of instruments in the song the audio lose quality and noise ramp up.
do you know why?it is fixable?
the only hint i have its that the audio control on kk,lp roms are different ,so when i push the up and down volume buttons on the phone the bluetooth audio of the phone is managed, but when i press the volume buttons on the headset it manages its OWN volume.
This doesnt happen in MM roms, when you push the volume button of the headset ord the phone its the same volume bar which is managed.
