Just updated to 2.2 and my quadrant score is 898. Ive seen folks in the 1200 - 1400 range which is almost double. It stated to use the .pit file if thats the case. My question is do i need to reload both the .tar file and the .pit or just .pit via odin

Do you have voodoo installed? If not 898 stock sounds about right.

As stated here, 900~ is normal for a non voodoo set up, enable lagfix with a voodoo kernel and expect 1200-1500 quadrant. With the AOSP rom/kernel, we're going to expect 2000+ ratings (right now the showcase shows that with their release) our build is still in the works.

No, I have not installed Voodoo - if you dont mind me asking what is it and what does it do? I have seen you guys talk about it here on the forums but im not quite clear as to what it is nor what it does.

E11. Is E16 worth my time in upgrading again? If it is, whats different?
2.1 to 2.2 is a very welcomed upgrade. I am extremely please with the speed and the small changes they have made in functionality.

EA11 was a previous "test build" of 2.2, test build only because it hasn't been released officially. EB16 is what we assume to be as close to the update that will be released from US cellular/Samsung. EB16 should be what you're running if you're running 2.2 at all.
"Voodoo" is referring to our "modded" kernel. Voodoo has many fixes/tweaks, one of which is called lagfix which when enabled changes the storage system to ext4 which in turn speeds up the system, this is the only one currently active in the EA11 voodoo kernel (which is compatible with both EA11 and EB16). Look for the post in the development forum, it's flashed in CWM. Once you have it flashed, you enable the lagfix through CWM and after booting you would see scores of 1400~ in quadrant.
i got a 1758 score with froyo eb16 pnp and vanilla froyo u guys should try it its pretty cool just some minor bugs though like no task manager, no youtube vids and thats about it i think

if you meant AOSP, we haven't got a release for the mes yet but I heard it scores up to 2000, I'm sure we will have something in time

Once again, jt1134 has delivered the goods. This is based on the EA11 leak, packaged with voodoo. For those of you that have been asking for it, here it is.
This kernel only includes the Voodoo ext4 lagfix, as without source code, Voodoo sound and color fixes are not possible. Full credit to Supercurio for the Voodoo lagfix code, as well as the scripts that jt1134 used to package it all into this kernel.
The kernel is also modified to support external bootanimations, ie: /system/media/bootanimation.zip
This package will also flash a modified recovery, which can be used with both Voodoo and non-Voodoo installations.
Make a backup. I am not responsible for what you do to your phone. Flash in recovery.

I love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well quadrant got ~1400ish with this...so happy you guys got the initial release out...thanks again
Just flashed and enabled lagfix, quadrant score 1435 stock froyo leak. Thanks a lot!
Quick question seeing as this is built off the kernel that was leaked with the froyo this should work when we get our real official upgrade release right?

Ok, dumb question here. How do I flash this without ClockworkMod Recovery installed? I don't have an option to do it from stock recovery.
Um you might need to get clockwork mod to install this.. You can probably it with odin but I dunno..
Swyped using USCC Mesmerize
Yeah, just read that in the Leaked Froyo thread. Red CWM installed.
Ok so I have to flash update.zip from stock recovery every time I need to get to red recovery.did that then flashed voodoo from red and no noticeable difference. Ntm tried to install boot animations just to see if voodoo went through and nothing happened. Im obviously missing something, any ideas?

Nice! Just flashed, rebooted into recovery via terminal (right to red CwM, thank you!) and enabled lagfix. One more reboot...sweet voodoo voice confirming it was working...
Nice quadrant and linpack scores. Very happy. Thanks devs!

Ok so I tried to reboot to red recovery to enable lag fix. got hung up at the samsung screen. So I used odin to reflash froyo, followed by red recovery and reflashed voodoo , enabled lag fix and all is good once again.

not really sure whats going on. Anyone else experiencing this?
Dont know if it matters or not but i use handcent not the
stock sms app
dont feel bad...mine only uses the default text ringtone no matter what
guessing its a froyo bug
is this kernel undervolted?
atleast your working with a ringtone. i get no notifications whatsoever. no ring , vibe , or message counter in the notification bar. odd. ive checked handcent and the orig sms apps, everything is enabled.
YAY JT! Thanks for posting Phidelt!
1500 Quadrant. Kind of strange this scores lower than 2.1 Voodoo though.
I got 1692 last quadrant run, overclocked 2.1 with voodoo.

No, this is not undervolted and does not allow overclocking. To do either of these we will need the source code for the kernel which android has not released yet. once that is released, new kernels can be built with those and other mods built in.
Well after much hassle I finally got the 3erecovery mod installed and then rebooted to install voodoo 5 stable or whatever.....so 2 QUestions.
1. Its i9000 kernal correct? At least thats what my boot screen said
2. Screen only is in horizontal position...won't rotate to vertical now....is this normal? I hope not, its annoying. Please help. Also is there alagfix devised from captivate not i9000? Or am I just not comprehending something?

Exactly which kernel did you install? There are Captivate kernels injected with with a Voodoo lagfix initramfs and there are reoriented i9000 kernels with Voodoo lagfix.

you need to download the respective apps from market just search for "voltage control" and "bln"... I've never used bln cuz I use noled but voltage control is really cool. Just don't choose to save as boot settings unless you are 1000% sure it's stable. The fascinate thread has a few posts with voltages to look at. My phone flakes out at anything over 1200mhz and will not even run 14-1600mhz without having to pull battery.

Just FYI - CWM3 would not be capable of flashing any of our flash packages as is, there is a script file located within META-INF in every flashable.zip that tells recovery how to apply the update files, since CWM3 uses edify vs. ammend scripting, our current one's are not compatible.
Phidelt has started converting the scripts (there would be 3, one for ROM flashing, Kernel flashing and Theme flashing.) However until CWM3 is used more (most people are still using the old scripts) we want to steer clear of CWM3. If you wanted that kernel (before the update which removed CWM3) you can use the SGS kernel flasher available from the market, to flash just the kernel from the .zip (it automatically picks it out)
If you do have CWM3, and want to flash something, you'll need to hop in IRC and ask around for the converted scripts - last I heard we had one complete (for ROM's) but I'm sure it wouldn't take long to get the other two converted if need be. Otherwise you'll need to revert back to the old CWM recovery.
I'm on infused 2.2.3 and i currently have Entropy's daily kernel.
I have a few questions about changing it
1) i already know i can just flash over it but, i want a bit faster one, and i wanna try to do that oc stuff... a few things i dont understand from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212485 is that it says only works on Samsung roms and not AOSP roms... firstly would i be ok being on infused? and also what does AOSP even mean?
2) I know it's a stupid question but what is a GB rom and what is the difference between it and other ones?
3)what is voodoo lagfix, voodoo sound and insecure boot?
I think that is all for now
Thanks for any help
First- yes you can flash that kernel with infused.
2nd- GB is gingerbread, its the lastest realses of android system (or soon will be for our infuse)
3rd- voodoo lagfix and sound are a tweek that helps your phone look ,run smoother, quicker, and sound better without a custom kernel but still works with everything.

in the thread you posted, you can pick any of them......Cores A and B just have different clock speeds added.
1.1 of course being the latest, but some have said they prefer 1.0. just flash it with SGS kernel flasher or CWM and you will be good. after doing so, go and get Voltage controller(free) or one of the paid apps(set cpu,Pimp My Cpu) and you will have the option to OC(Over Clock) and UV ( Under volt) that is all really.
no harm no foul, you should not mess anything up. try them out and see which one you like better. i personally liked 1.1 with the Infused Rom.

I just got the Captivate yesterday and I'm in love with it. I've been modding my Backflip for a while and I'm fairly certain I know what I'm doing. I've been trying different ROMs and I've currently settled on a rooted stock 2.2 ROM.
I want to change my kernel though, so I put my phone in download mode and flashed the Galaxian kernel via Odin, it finished and then my phone started boot looping. So I one clicked it and tried again with SGS flasher, boot loop. One click restored, tried with CWM, boot loop.
I've also tried Talon, Speedmod, Setiron and a stock kernel with all 3 methods. Nothing will flash without boot looping.
That kernel is designed for reoriented i-9000 roms

It needs to be a true captivate 2.2 kernel a lot are i9000's you just need to read the op for whichever kernel you are looking at thoroughly. 90% of the time the dev states if its an i9000 kernel.
The speed mod kernel here, forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893880 SHOULD work just make sure to wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery after install and it should boot.

Thanks guys! I think I downloaded the wrong version of SpeedMod the first time, it worked this time. Firstly I didn't know that the difference between i-9000 and i897 meant that much. Secondly, I'm not really sure how to read the kernel topics, they're confusing to say the least :S.
I'll learn sooner or later but thanks for your help everyone.
