When I use games such as angry birds and air traffic control the touchscreen stops working and only starts working when you put the phone to sleep and wake it up again.... Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Angry Birds is a major habit for me, and I have played it stock and on a variety of ROMS. I've never had this issue before. I hate to say it, but you may have a bad phone.
When I had the ATT stock rom, I had some issues where certain letters would just stop responding until I rebooted the phone, then they'd work fine. I think it's a software issue, but I'm not sure.
Since upgrading to the CoreDroid ROM I haven't had the issue, so I'm HOPING that's the resolution because I hate to think there might be a hardware problem.
Yeah its a stock ROM and it happens almost immediately after starting the game. All the animations are still moving but no touch

Is it rooted? If so maybe try throwing on a rooted ROM and see if the issue continues. Coming from iPhone the screen touch experience\quality is nowhere near as good, but it seems like it's at least decent.
When I use the phone to play a game or web browse it starts to get really hot on the top half of the screen.

Is there anyway that I can to see if the phone is overheating/getting too hot?

How hot is it getting? I'm pretty sure every smartphone experiences some kind of heat from gaming or streaming videos specially when you are charging it at the same time.

No and the phone does not get nearly as hot on wifi. Really odd. Also the phone was overcloaked before but I pushed it back to just 1ghz. My phone burning me for using the browder out is not cool though. Think there is an issue?

Well there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the device since you said you put it back to 1 ghz. Really odd if you ask me. Maybe its a battery problem? Sometimes defective batteries cause overheating and can explode.

It only gets hot when I use Japan too. Never on wifi. (Well it does a little playing games) I think I will call customer support tomorrow.

I'd recommend you flash and reinstall the ROM on your phone. Sounds to me like you've still go some of the old performance updates kicking in making the device hotter!
For me your temperatures are pretty normal. When I am not gamimg my max was 91F!!

Since you claim to have been able to move around the CPU frequency, I assume you are running setCPU. In setCPU you can look at Info tab where under the battery header it also displays the battery tempt. It's normal for the phone to heat while you are charging, on call for long or gaming for long duration but if you are seeing absurdly high reading for the battery tempt, then you better have it checked.
Hmm I had a overheating issue last night, woke up to my phone making a loud noise - I had set setCPU to make a noise when it goes over 40C and it did this today in the early hours of the morning whilst it was charging.
No processes were running other than the normal Live Wallpaper, Keyboard etc.. The phone was quite hot to the touch as well, so I just turned it off.
Weird thing is I have another profile in setCPU to have the max freq at 800Mhz and lowest 100Mhz when the screen is off so don't know how it got so hot?
My touch screen some times becomes unresponsive after playing Home Run Battle and Plants vs. Zombies. Its only the touch that becomes unresponsive but my accelerometer still works. I have to restart the phone in order to fix it.

i had a lot of problems when i used advanced task killer on my phone similar to urs. If your using a task killer uninstall it and pull battery on phone then pop it in and boot up again see if it happens.
I definitely had this happen the other day. I wasn't playing any games and I don't have any task killers installed. I was in the middle of a text message when a call came through. I answered the call and then tried to resume my text but nothing was responding. I was still able to flip the phone sideways but I couldn't tap anything at all. I had to do a restart. That was frustrating and I hope it was a one time thing!
I found out that mine was a app called juice defender......it was messing mine up really bad.....uninstalled it and my phone responds....perfect now!!!!!

yeah a lot of people r complaining about hardware and software on HTC's side, but a lot of it has to do with these phones still being pretty new alot of devs havent had the time to make their apps fully compatible with our sensations
I had the same problem yesterday, everything but the screen working, however rather than rebooting, i found that i could pull the top bar down then back up and screen worked again
this is because phone is overheating and the screen gives problems.
I think another charger will resolve this problem or if its `SW problem, OTA will be released...

Awhile ago. It's on the Amazon Appstore.
My screen doesn't become unresponsive if I play PvZ, but if I play it for too long, Sense reloads when I exit out of the game.

Try calibrating your battery.

There is a rogue app in your drawer. download watchlist app, it will keep track on other apps which are hogging your system.
Battery calibration won't and doesn't do anything useful... its more then likely an app or something running constantly. What's your screen on times? Post a screenshot of your battery usage.

Today I didn't hardly use my phone (no work) sat around on the computer, paid some bills watched some movies and TV, sent two text messages and read 3 emails battery was at 65% after 3 ½ hours... 3 of which was idle time and screen off. Never had it so bad before.

Anytime. That's usually the first thing I do when I install a rom based on lg stock. That app runs constantly eating data and ram. You will usually gain almost 1mb of open ram by just deleting it.

What the hell is qem_warlock .it's been on my kernel warlock since I unplugged.
I pretty much don't play games and don't stream music or anything like large data usage. I call text browse and read articles and such, XDA and Facebook is about it for other usage though, light in most eyes, and I under-clock the phone to 700's usually.

i can confirm this helped battery life, thanks! also if any of you still have telenav on the 2.3.4 update, getting rid of that helped me out too
I have had a look online to see if others are having my problem but can't seem to find anything on it so thought i would ask here.
A few months back i created a thread regarding lag issues on my nexus 5 more specifically app drawer opening/closing lag, well after flashing back to stock, unrooting and factory resetting a few times the lag was still there UNTIL i turned off auto update apps and the lag dissapeared so i figured it must be an app so after a while of trying to find out which one it is i found out it was the updated google search causing the lag for some reason so i uninstalled the updates and the lag dissapeared and now i have had auto update off for a couple of months.
Well now i want to turn auto update all apps on again and update the google search app to get ok google again but again after updating the lags back so had to delete it once again, anyone got any ideas on why this is happening? I have already tried rebooting the phone which didn't make a difference so i wiped dalvik and cache again this didn't make any difference
Bump

Yes the lag is there when opening and closing the app drawer. The only google service that causes this is the google search app, when i uninstall it through play store it just uninstalls the updates so i lose the ok google hotword feature but the lag is completely gone and the phone is buttery smooth, as soon as i update it again the lag starts.
I'm on a rooted nexus 5 4.4.2 running a stable release of faux kernel that's it everything else is stock

Can you switch to ART and see if the problem persist? If you are not comfortable switching, you could flash the Dalvik+Bionic library optimization. I found it very smooth, compared to stock Dalvik.
Also, scale down Windows animation and Transition animation to .5x in developer options.

That's a crude way of putting it, but yes. In a way we're all trying to mask our phone's shortcomings. Seeing that even though we all have the same phones, yet some are better than others, some encounter more problems than others, some have better battery life than others. You can't come in here and expect your phone to be perfect with no problems. Sometimes we find a fix, sometimes we find a workaround. It's hard to pinpoint the problem without much in-depth troubleshooting, but if it "fixes" the problem, than that should be sufficient for now right?

If that was the case, this whole forum would not exist. Every phone is different, even if they're the same model. We tweak it and mod it to our liking, and we never stop trying to bring it to its optimum ability.
Yes ART is unstable to some apps and mods. Before rooting my phone, I was on ART for a few months on stock. It was very smooth, and surprisingly didn't have any incompatibility issues. After root, in order to have Xposed, I had to switch to Dalvik. There was definitely some lag issues. I also experienced them with the app drawer, similar to yours. But to circumvent that, I flashed the Dalvik+Bionic libraries and it was as smooth, if not smoother, than it was while I was on stock ART.

So your saying that let's say we both bought the same phone in this case the nexus 5 and when we turn it on it's brand new so nothing installed on it yet but one phone has lag but the other is as smooth as butter would you consider that perfectly normal or would you think something is wrong?
I have been running ART for a few hours now and unfortunately the lag is still there, once i uninstall the google search app updates it goes back to being as smooth as butter same as when i was on dalvik but like dalvik once i install it again the lag comes back
