[Q] Inspire 4G rooted Revolution Rom - HTC Inspire 4G

Love the Rooted Inspire,(Thanks attn1) though the speed goes from 2985 DL in the morning to 200k DL on Friday night, besides that,Unlimited free tethering is awesome. My Question is how do I stream to the TV if the thing is never going to support "Micro USB to HDMI"? I have seen the commercial where it is done wirelessly? If I dont have a DLNA or whatever its called compatible TV is there a Standalone "converter" that has HDMI out and accepts the Inspires Video Sharing,I would like to be able to hook the phone to my projecter through whatever cable or wireless device I need,So How do I do It,Buy a Samsung??Please dont tell me that I just started to get this phone really dialed it,Ilike it better than my Iphone 4,way better than the captivate! Cant imagine they are not going to support video out via a simple cable adapter??Help,Vegas

look up htc media link!

Get a new wireless ready blue ray player.... cheapest way to be able to add Dlna. This will allow you to stream everything from your phone as well as pc to your tv and be able to control everything with your phone.

Sound working ?

Sound is Good
Yes Sound if Fine,Thanks for asking. The advertise this Phone as Surround Sound + Dolby 5.1 and there is a Huge Silver Speaker Bar on the top of the Phone on the Side with the Screen which Puts out very Little sound for a device with the "SRS" Logo on the Back. Its fine through Headphones and when plugged into the "Aux In" that is on my Clarion NZ409 Head Unit wired into the Mercedes 10 Bose Speaker and Bose Amp System ,there is a noticeable difference when you toggle the DOLBY button,I am not sure if it is better or worse ,just different. Thanks,Vegas

About this DLNA Business...
So,I am looking at 120.00 US plus Shipping if I want a Simple Video Out Connection from my Inspire,I guess I am burning DVDs that the Kids can throw away after watching them once if I want to stream movies in the car. Is there any other "Media Server" solution available,I assum someone will reverse engineer the thing and sell it out of Hong Kong like all of the other Electronics out there on the Market,Man between the Atrix with its 300.00 "Dock",and the Inspires "DLNA" Media Server" I am starting to wish that I went with the Samsung Infuse,I am stuck for a While,I never learn my lesson with buying the minute a Technology becomes available I guess,With the Exception of 3DTV of course,I am not falling for that just yet,Thanks All,Vegas

[Q] Do we like this FM Transmitter/charger?

This little adapter is really well-reviewed on Amazon. Satisfied users mention Droid, EVO 4G, Incredible, Nexus One, etc. but no Charge.
Seems reasonable to expect it to work given such widespread Android compatibility but does anyone have firsthand experience?
I have had that one for a while now. It worked great on my D1 and now I use it on my Charge. Streams music and it sounds great. It has a volume control on it also. You can charge your phone at the same time. One of the best buys I have made.
Thanks, mon. I'm off to order now.
Just so I understand, you use the headphone jack for audio, USB to charge.
Rather than playing through the USB alone?
If I had an easy way to connect in my car, I'd go ahead and sub to spotify. This could be it.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Actually I only use the bluetooth connection for sound. That way I can stream music and if I get a call I can hear it over the car speakers. I use the USB to keep the phone charged. I have never used the audio cable. Have you received it yet and if so how do you like it?
I'm thinking of picking this up, I'd probably wanna use a cig splitter since I don't particularly care that the usb port on this is only 650mah. Is it strong enough to run music and nav and keep the phone charged? or recommend a cig splitter so we can use the official cig charger from verizon?
I can't answer that question yet. I should get my car dock today and I haven't used it for nav yet. I have used it to stream music and voice.
Received mine yesterday but haven't had a chance to mess with it. I'm really hoping it charges effectively, I'm getting ready to search and/or post here about how HUGELY I'm disappointed in the Charge's battery life.
let us know hehe, thinking of either this or getting a new head unit for my car with bluetooth built in. Right now I use the aux jack on my radio, but I want to get rid up as much excess cabling as possible. Any fan of cable tidyness would agree hehe.
lol I am a total nutcase....was going to get this accessory but figured...why not just upgrade my head unit to one with bluetooth......and while at it picked up new speakers to replace the stock ones......ARGH, coulda just spent the ~$50 and been done with it instead of the $478 for the new HU, speakers, and install (which is tomorrow ^.^)
Don't follow in my tracks, save your money and get this LOL
Now that is one approach to a problem I am not sure I would have even thought of, lol.
Let's see... spend $50 or 10 times that??????
I can see your dilemma.
ya but spending 10 times as much nets me a much nicer audio systems with integrated awesomeness.....hehe I get it installed in an hour I'll report back.
Anyways to keep this post on target...we need more testers for that fm transmitter! Get on it folk!

where are you getting it installed? im thinking of getting a headunit too but i dont know how to install it and im really bad with cars.
ya, get the professionals on that one...even if it is best buy...at least if they **** up its on them. After using my new stereo for 2 days, I have to say this....nothing beats the aux input cord.....bluetooth streaming is too poor, wicked hissy. still nice to have the bluetooth only for phone calls though.
Funny, I have never had the hissy sound over bluetooth. My streaming with the GOgroove Flexsmart X2 has always sounded as good as the radio and I have the Bose system in my Trailblazer.
thats weird. it may be the bluetooth adapter I have *shrugs* it sounds beauuuutiful through the line out on the car dock into the aux in on my HU, but if I only use it for calls oh well, it works hehehe
I'll chime in to say that bluetooth streaming in a rental Ford was superb. No static or hissing, full Spotify goodness.
I'd take my unit it back, if I were you. Shouldn't be problematic.

ive been using this one from walmart
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Scosche-FM-Transmitter/16652629
its inexpensive and works really well. I bought a few others from bestbuy and they always sucked and had poor sound quality for double the price, i saw this at walmart one day and said "what the hell" and picked it up, i was very surprised at how well it worked. It has a small profile, and even plays mp3s off an SD card if you want, though I have never used that feature. It has a remote as well.
I just bought a 2nd one for my wife, and ive been using mine for about a year now, its rock solid.
highly recommended. Also... its walmart, if it ever breaks just bring it back
It looks like that one from WalMart is a FM Transmitter only. The one we are talking about in this thread is not only a FM Transmitter but also a Bluetooth connector to our Phones so we can hold a conversation and hear it over the vehicles radio system. So it looks to me that it does everything the WalMart one does, except for the memory card slot, and much more.

thing is super tiny
oh but here same one I think half the price http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Keyboard-Touchpad-Laser-Pointer/dp/B004I4RW8C/ref=pd_cp_e_3
personally so far I'm eyeing Laptopmate Original KP-810-10-BTT but haven't read up on any of them enough to make an educated decision
How does the mouse pad work? I'm assuming that a mouse pointer doesn't just pop up or does it just scroll and such.

You do get a mouse pointer, I have a very similar keyboard. They're super handy too

I picked mine up from eBay last year. Works amazing. I have had it linked to my playbook, MacBook Pro, and all my phones to date. Just wish the trackpad was a bit bigger. Thats the only complaint.
I bought the Mini Rii over a year ago, and maybe I've got a bad one, maybe I'm hard on it, but it didn't last. The quality isn't great, and once the battery starts to die it gets wonky. In the beginning recharging fixed it and or cycling the power switch, but now it takes several key presses to make it wake and respond.
The power cycling wasn't a big deal, and I didn't mind, until the microscopic switch's thumb knob fell off and was lost forever. Now I need a tooth pick or paper clip to cycle the power.
Another thing it does is lose it's mind on the cap lock. Sometimes it will cap lock, without the cap lock light on, and you have to turn cap locks on (light comes on) to get lower case. If that makes any sense.
The touch pad is also less responsive now too.
It didn't cost much, but I still expected it to hold up better than it did. This is just my experience, so take it as you will.
At this point I have a half working PC remote, and great laser pointer for the cat.

MHL Cable Discussion Thread

I wanted to make this a discussion thread for MHL cables. Currently, I have a Rocketfish MHL Cable and I love it. It doesn't have to be plugged into the wall via micro usb for it to work, unlike my ONN brand cable.
Other things I would like everyone to discuss, is quality and content. I love the quality of picture that mine displays, pretty sure it's 1080p, but how about other brands?
Now for content. Has anyone been successful in getting a MHL Cable to work with protected material? For example, when I hook mine up and try to watch NFL Mobile, it says "HDMI Is Not Supported". Is there a Rom that will work? Maybe an App to download? Xposed Framework module?
Also, speaking of nfl games, has anyone been successful in getting a Super Nintendo emulator working with hdmi and two controllers for playing multiplayer games?
Basically, let's discuss anything and everything MHL for HTC One M8!!!
I never put much thought into MHL, but came to this topic hoping to learn something. I found your cable on Amazon, and a lot of people are saying it doesn't work. Others are saying it does, but with an adapter. Together, the two add up to the cost of a Chromecast (which I have no experience with), so, what does an MHL cable do that Chromecast doesn't, aside from charging your phone, of course.

I'm hoping to learn something too. I'm going to buy a chrome cast tonight. I did some searching on the web and found out that I can use my HTC One M8 to screen mirror or mirrorcast to my TV. Someone out their has created an App that enables mirroring with any rooted device. Link is here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567717826
The guys over at Wal-Mart were nice enough to let my play and connect a chrome cast up to my phone. After downloading the file, I was able to watch NFL Mobile Network and Stream Twitch to a TV without any problems. There was a slight lag from what the phone showed, but nothing terrible as the sound and video synced up perfectly on the tv I was testing it out on.
I'm glad I got those two apps to stream to a TV. Not sure if an MHL Cable is going to offer anything more than a chrome cast. I'll see if I can tell a difference in quality or lag input. Thanks for bringing up the chrome cast. I know the HTC One M8 mirror option isn't supported yet, but with the phone being rooted and the extra app enabled, I can now stream anything and everything from my phone to my TV.
I haven't had any experience at all with MHL but do have a few thoughts about it vs Chromecast. I come from a long list of Motorola phones which all came with a dedicated HDMI port. If MHL is the same thing as HDMI, Chromecast is the way to go. At least for me. Since getting the ability to mirror on Chromecast, I really can't think of any advantage of using HDMI. There's a couple of really good advantages for using Chromecast though. Assuming MHL works the same way HDMI does, using it doesn't allow you to do anything with your device while mirroring on the TV. If you do something on the phone, the TV displays it. Also, the screen on your device has to remain on all the time. If you happen to use/stream Netflix or Youtube or some such thing, the screen never shuts off. However, if you use Chromecast for those types of things (or other apps that support it) you can still use the phone to play a game, browse the web or whatever it is you want to do. It has no effect on the movie you're playing. A big plus is you can also turn the screen off while streaming a movie or whatever. If you turn the screen off while streaming a 2 hour movie while using Chromecast, the battery drain is next to nothing compared to HDMI (again, assuming MHL is the same). If you mirror with Chromecast, then things are pretty much the same. The ability to turn the screen off or browse the web, etc.while streaming media is a huge advantage for Chromecast. At least, the way I use my phone, it is for me.
I apologize if my post is somewhat off topic but I figured since Chromecast came into the conversation and I do have experience with HDMI, I'd put my two cents worth in. Just my thoughts on the subject.
FWIW, this cable works on my phone.

Best MHL for HTCOne M8
Hello , I just purchased an MHL cable for my phone and it only works intermittently. You mentioned the rocketfish. Is it reliable and doesn't cut out?

Connect nexus to TV via USB??

Just wondering if this is possible? weve been having sound cutout issues huge, at least every 30 seconds or so but at times like 4 times within 10 seconds, no matter which source, app, hdmi cable or hdmi port on the tv. we have no "middleman" surround sound or anything, its just hooked direct to the player, and to the tv. (ive read some take out the middleman and its better but we cant do this, its already done)
i was reading somewhere that some suspect theres an hdmi issue with alot of the players themselves... so i got to thinking what if i wanted to hook the player up to my laptop, how would i hook it up? Can i make hte player think the usb on our TV is really a computer? and go about it that way? Im curious to test if via USB would sound better even if we sacrifice visual quality a bit
i tried my phone cord but the tv didnt detect it...
anyone offer any advice?

Paring to tv via hdmi

I need help pairing my s8 plus to my tv via hdmi cord. I have google chrome cast but that requires internet. I live in a new apt and I'm holding off on internet as to not have another bill. I would like to be able to watch YouTube and showbox on my tv from my phone. I have a usb c to hdmi adapter and a hdmi cable. The adapter is from radio shack so it's not an official Samsung one. I can sometimes get the screen to mirror but no audio. And it seems like anytime hdmi is detected, my mobile network turns off. Basically like it's an airplane mode.
Any help?
might be something with the adapter. Know anyone else with a similar phone that can test? I got one off amazon and it works flawless. Audio, video, data, etc.
Which adapter did u get exactly? Link please? Did u get the official samsung one? It could be mine as mine is a generic radio shack one. Does ur s8 still operate on mobile data when hooked up so u can steam YouTube and such without wifi?
Yep, was able to play youtube no issues, connected to LTE.

I got this one but also if it helps saw this thread today where a guy tested a handful of others including flat out USB C to HDMI cables (I prefer an adapter so I can plug my phone into charge too.)
EDIT: I decided to click on all the ones he had curious what he tested. Not a single one is available for purchase LOL. What a waste of a thread.
