So I downloaded the Honeycomb wallpaper pack via Android Central ( http://bit.ly/eAyq0R ) and they displayed perfectly, high def, on my Galaxy S 4g. I just came back to Nexus S and all the pics with the purplish color- ONLY the pics with the purplish coloring- are extremely distorted and pixelated. I've erased, re-downloaded, rebooted, etc. Anyone know if this may have something to do with color calibration correction in 2.3.3? Anyone else have this problem?

instead of downloading them to your nexus s from that site, see if sending them from your vibrant to your nexus by email makes a difference.

Tried that, also tried downloading directly to pc then transferring to NS via USB, all same result. It's really bizarre, as it seems to be only those select wallpapers. What's buggung me more than not being able to use those wallpapers, is wondering now if it's something bigger, like uncalibrated or mis-calibrated display... really weird...

Thanks- sorry to hear the issue exists for you as well but glad to hear it's not just me or my device. After playing around with display and different wallpapers further, it seems to be distorting (pixelating, for lack of better words) deep grays and purples that are of otherwise very high definition. It seems perhaps that 2.3.3 color fixes adressed some problems (such as purplish tint to grays in low-light, such as when dimming light with desk clock app up) but introduced some new issues with these distortion problems. *sigh* Very annoying...

Just got the TF, love it to bits.
Sounds a bit daft but how do you make a wallpaper fit??? I've download a few that look really when seen on other TF's but when I select it on mine you get that box to adjust then the image seems blown up and looks rubbish given its resolution!
Not sure if it matters but running 3.2 stock, dont have root. Have tried wallpapers from here and 4walled and tried different size images.
Sorry if this has been answered a million times! i tried looking but searching the term 'wallpaper' on here = nightmare!
cheers

wallpaper wizardrii is the only app that will help you. Its free on the market and its free. Simply choose the wallpaper and select the option scrollable for best results.
Note:
This still crops images slightly, but is far. far better than setting wallpaper via gallery.
Give me thanks if this helped you out. I use it all the time
I've used it, very nice app, but still the quality is not that good.
can u give me some wallpaper to test it?
think i've got it sorted. using multi live wallpaper and it works spot on.
just cant get it to display a different pic per screen as it probably should

Just go into Multi setting, add individual setting (depend how many screen you have) on each setting you go in and choose folder picture (you should create a folder for each screen) and choose the path.
hope that helps

Hi everybody,
I notice in my tf300 screen the contrast is too much...some picture are almost white, if you watch them on a pc monitor they are normal...also the icons are very contrast, and the words of calendar widget looks dirty, not sharp. In my phone this doesn't happens.
Also the dropbox icon is very very bright...do you know if there is a kind of contrast setting in this tablet?

Are you using a custom rom? It happened to me on the CleanROM but installing the Hydro JB solve this issue. Maybe it's related to the TEGRA Prism setting.
No custom rom or root neither. Just updated to jellybean from OTA asus...but I remeber also when it was on ICS I gave me the same issues...
If you watch a movie or play a game there is no problem...only with the screen and the picture you have problems...it's definitely too high contrast...

TEGRA Prism is a function that dynamically adjust your displays LED backlight levels and probably is enabled on stock roms.
Hmm is there any way to set this feature or is automatic?

My wife's AT&T One X just started doing this weird thing where instead of the normal crop interface within the stock gallery app, it's putting boxes around any faces it detects and won't let us do a "normal" crop (with the resizable rectangle). How do we get rid of this? Just want to resize a picture and we can't.
Stock ROM, HTC Gallery application.
Thanks,
- Brett.

I just noticed the same problem with my HTC One. I don't know which moron thought this was a good idea but it need to be gone and soon! I can no longer crop a photo to just include the people. It's a lone face or nothing. Who thinks that junk is useful?

Didn't work, unfortunately. What a stupid idea. How often do people create contact photos?

Not on my HTC One with Sense 5. I turned off face detection, took a photo of people (faces aren't detected), then hit Edit, Transform, Crop. The "Touch a face to crop" message pops up immediately and the faces are highlighted. I can't custom-crop unless I go through a slow process of tapping a face and expanding the crop boundary several times, making it zoom out bit by bit.
I'm on 1.29.841.2.

Works just fine for me on CleanROM 6.5, and on past ROMs I've been on. Crop "frame" starts at a face, but I can resize and reposition it, as you would expect to. Face detection is "on" in camera settings. I don't think this is an issue with the way the feature is designed, but maybe just a glitch on certain devices/ROMs or a setting issue.
I'm using Galaxy S7(non-edge). I'm dealing with a screen color uniformity issue (as you can see here).
I showed the device to guys at Samsung to create a technical report in order to get a replacement. But they can't even see a problem with my display. Since they didn't even bother the images I showed they asked me whether I can see a problem by playing some videos and all. But I said it's difficult to notice the problem when displaying various colors at once. Otherwise they asked me whether I can show the problem within the system(not with any images and videos). So I opened the Internet(Samsung stock browser) in 'Secret Mode' went to tabs section and displayed that screen(grey background) by closing the foreground tab. I want to confirm that there is no gradient on that screen. Can any of you guys post a screenshot of that screen?
Thanks

Funny! I fell for it. It won't let you take a screenshot when in secret mode.
Try using HW buttons or Pixolor app please
Dude these idiots at samsung have no idea.
I had the same issue MULTIPLE TIMES!
amoled screens are not all equal and I almost always notice some minor flaw in every display.
My current one has pretty even color but there are 3 dark horizontal lines going across the screen in different areas. Kind of like shadows under the glass thats bery subtle but definitely visible when browsing stuff and scrolling up and down.
Just call and ask for a warranty replacement over the phone

Recently got the Pixel 3a and love it. The only thing that bothers me, on dark wallpapers, the notification bar has a greyish backdrop under it. Is there anyway to remove this from both the home screen and the app switcher screen? Nova launcher seems to clear it from the home screen, but the app switcher still has it.
I can't attach photos to show, but just set a pure black wallpaper then look at the top of the screen.
Could you try using a different launcher? I think Nova Laumcher has a option to show/hide shadow on desktop.

Unfortunately, I don't have a solution for this, but I still wanted to add, that I had my 3a sent in for repair partly for this exact behavior.
I can't link a photo atm, but on a solid black wallpaper I could see ~4 brighter bars at the top of the screen, and something similar at the bottom (like LCD/LED displays suffer from clouding, but technically impossible on an OLED). I recommend you to turn on the screen rotation of the Pixel Launcher, because it follows orientation, therefore proving it's not a hardware issue per se.
Like you said, it doesn't appear on screenshots either, so it is beyond recognition of screen capture. Another software layer maybe.
Could you also carefully check dark greys and blacks of any video? Those colors seemed to be muddy for me, especially noticeable when using a black filter dimmer in CF Lumen.
Also, I might add that my Pixel didn't have this issue for the first months, it suddenly appeared and was even gone for one day before sticking.
So yeah, I guess I had this exact issue as well, let me know if you find out anything and I'll make sure to let you know how my repair went.

Do the attached images show the issue you are talking about? Adding to my post above, that I contacted the Google support chat, and after some troubleshooting they told me to send it in for repair.
Still waiting for it to get back, it has been more than 2 weeks now (including holidays).

Yeah, you can see the grey gradient at the top. It's like a backdrop on the status bar. Yours looks a bit worse than mine though, as mine doesn't stand out as bad as yours. What that is called, is gradient banding. And I checked some dark videos for you and don't see it in videos. Also, my grey backdrop at the top doesn't have banding, it's a smooth gradient. You can google gradient banding to see examples of what it looks like.

Gotcha, I always described it as if a gradient got its color depth reduced, good to know there is an actual term for that.
And thanks for checking the greys. My whole display was affected by this issue, rendering darker tones what felt like yellowish/greenish, looking muddy.
And to reiterate, it became like this from one second to another, so if anything broke, you might be affected before noticing, because for you it looked like this from the start, from what I understood. I hadn't had a chance to compare it to another 3a, maybe that's something for you to check, just to be sure.
Still, I'll let you know when I get mine back, if the repair helped and if they found the culprit, or if I'm going crazy entirely.

Yes, just an edited Pixel Launcher.
Quick update as promised:
I have my 3a back and they told me they replaced the device instead of repairing it.
The banding is now gone (of course), but the drop shadow is still there, although barely noticeable. Hopefully the other suggestion worked out for you.
So thanks for telling me about banding and sorry for a possible confusion. Really glad to be back on team 3a though.
