Customized Rintones - HTC Inspire 4G

Is there any way to assign mp3s as a rintone? Any App that will allow diferent songs for different people or groups? I have the HTC Inspire and can't seem to find an app for that like I found for muy HTC Fuze.

load mp3 on phone then use the excellent free Ringdroid app from the market to turn it into a ringtone.

You can assign mp3s as ringtones as long as they are not over 300kb. Mp3 Rintone Maker by luckyEva lets you download music then edit it. To assign a rindgone to a person just go into people>touch the person you want a ringtone for> and pick a ringtone for that person.
edit: you beat me to it gunny.

Zedge ringtones and wallpapers is a good place for stuff. Its in the market and free.

Ringdroid is a free app that allows you to edit a full size mp3 to a 30 clip that you want

i store all my custom ringtones here: On your SD card create folder media/audio/notifications/ringtones/alarms. put them all in the alarms folder. this also bypasses the 300kb for me.

I'm able to select any of my .mp3s as ringtones without an additional app. My mp3s do not have to be less than 300K. I just assigned Drake's "Best I Ever Had" (filesize - 5.91MB) mp3 to my fiance by opening my contacts, selecting her, scrolling down to "Ringtone", then it allowed me to select my music from my SD

Do you have an Inspire? In the Inspire contacts are listed under "People", I tried edit and did not see ringtone option.

how can i select music tracks as the ringtone please? When i go into options, notifications and alerts the sample tracks appear in the list but my own music i've put on the phone isn't there? Also could someone tell me how i can get the alerts etc as loud and as easy to recognise as possible as i keep missing calls etc. i've put all volumes up to max and turned vibration on whilst ringing .. anything else i can do?

Put the mp3's on your storage card or drop them in the windows folder in file explorer, check sounds & notifications and your music should appear under the ringtone tab
Use the "File Explorer", go to your musicfile and tap and hold on it, and you can set it as ringtone

To use an mp3 as a ringtone you need to drop the files into My Documents/My Ringtones
For alert sounds use the windows folder.
I was having the same issue but does this mean the ringtones that i have on my SD card will be taking memory space from the device. I dont want to use my device memory for my music and ringtones. I found out that i can just add them directly to my Storage Card, but if i add them to a folder within the Storage Card, once i go to select a tone from the drop list it wont show any of my custom ringtones.
I've probably held down on a music track and seen "Add as Ringtone" probably a million time but when I read the initial question there was no chance in hell I would have even thought of it.
Thanks for reminding me.
I have the Touch Pro for Verizon and it has an MP3 Trimmer app. You can use this app to import an mp3 and trim it to the part of the song that you want, and set it as a ringtone.

You can put your ringtones in a folder on your micro SD card, I have mine in: \Storage Card\My Documents\My Ringtones
and they show up in "Sounds & Notifications"
But just as mrvanx stated above, you have to put them in: \Windows to have them show up for alerts, like new text messages.
I also use Audacity to trim my music files for ringtones, it works great.

MP3 Ringtones - how set it up?

Does somebody know how to force Leo to play ringtones with mp3 extension? I already added some mp3's to windows/rings folder, but system doesn't see them.
its probably easiest using the MP3 Trimmer on the phone under the "MULTIMEDIA" folder...
Put the mp3 file in the "My Documents"-folder in the root of the mobile, not on the SD-card.
That is to say:
root/My Documents/mp3file.mp3
This mp3-file will work for both ringtone and sms-tone.
Hiya!
I am very curious if my Random Ringtone app works on the Leo.
If anybody wants to try it that would be appreciated.
If it doesnt work I would of course make it work.
Thanks in advance...

Meery Nwe yaer!
I have a folder called "my ringtones" in my documents on the device (not the sd card). Try adding some mp3's there! Works for me! You also wanna trim ur mp3's using a PC app couse the mp3 trimmer in WM sux bigtime!
Big thanks for You buddies for Your help but unfortunatelly - none works on my device. I already try to put my mp3 ringtone to My Documents and My Ringtones (later) folder as well, but system still doesn't see my mp3's . What's going on?. It can't be so difficult! Tell me - how do You set up Your ringtone on Your device? Settings/Sound&Display/Ringtone (or Notification Sounds)?
OK. After Soft Reset UMISS'es method works! Own ringtones are visible for system in My Documents folder. Thank You pal.

I've tried to put the files anywhere in the My documents folders, but no joy

Hello
Do NOT waste valuable space from main memory for the mp3 ringtone which placed in My documents or /Windows.
Place the mp3 files in the root of the SD card without folders. It will show up and works great and You do not have to worry about flashing any custom rom. The files in the SD card stays.
Good luck
Happy new year

Pegasus,
Sometimes life is so simple. Thank you very much, your solution is the ONE. Works wonders.
reg. fred
for ringtones, u can have the mp3 in anywhere phone or SD memory, directly choose the file to be used as a ringtone in the file explorer...
for other notifications or messages or alarms, convert the file to wav and copy it to /windows folder ...then go to settings->menu->all settings->sounds and notifications n select the tune for the specific event.
HTC HD2 or iphone?
Hello guys. i was getting ready to buy an HD2 but now i see that simple things like diffirent mp3 for calls or for a caller or sms, alarms etc. are configured so hard, along with other hard questions like the difficult customizing of the hd2 have started make me thing again of the iphone. You people that alredy have an HD2 what do you suggest me? i do really care much about the easyness of synchronizing and the ability to synchro with other progs other than outlook. What would you suggest me?
Keep in mind,
if u use this Ringtone App u can change your ring directory as well as have multiple rings for each alarm.
thanks,
Keith
I used Mp3 trimmer to cut a song short. Now I cant seem to remove it from the device as I cant find it anyway. But it is still shoing up on the ring tone menu.

I dont seem to have a Windows folder on my HD2, but when trying to make the folder I was told I cant as it alreayd exists. Tryping the address into the bar tells me that it doesnt exist.... So I assume Windows Mobile Device Center is crap.

There's nothing difficult in changing the sounds. As you can see, there are many ways how to do that and they all work (for most users). There is nothing more simple then just copy your desired ringtones to windows folder and then just set it up.
Buying an iphone would be a terrible mistake, it's an old and inferior device compared to HD2.
MP3 Ringtone on SD Card
It's not recommended to save MP3 or any other big files into device memory. copy your MP3 files only to your "Storage Card".
It's so easy, just copy your MP3 song(s) to "\Storage Card\My Documents\My Ringtones" folder (and if you don't have "My Ringtones" folder just create one).

HTC Ringtone trimmer app not accessible?

i know the app exist straight out the box but for some reason it does not show up in the app drawer to use it.. when inside "manage applications" its listed but doesnt give you an option to do anything with it..
has anyone been able to use this app?
i use this a bunch to trim mp3s and asign them to my fav contacts.
Ringtone Trimmer
To use the Ringtone trimmer go to the media player or "Music" app. Find the song you want to trim (easiest way is to play then pause it) Menu>Set as Ringtone>Trim the Ringtone. Hope this helps.
Nice.. This helps tremendously. I guess it's not a dedicated app like on other htc devices. I tried snooping around the music app and seen the set as ringtone option but thought that would set the whole song as a ringtone.... Good find. Thanx
does not show up
When I go into the music and select to make it a ringtone, it does not give me the option to trim it. I'm on the aria, is there another way to trim?
I found that some songs let me some don't

I wonder why this happens.
I always delete the ringtone trimmer from every rom. Try using Ringdroid from market, it is free and much more useful.

Music app

OK so I want to use the stock music app (music player) so I mounted my phone and made a new folder called music on the SD card(internal)
Is there any way to have it see only that folder? Rite now it shows all music on phone including ringtones. I normally just would run a shuffle mode.
Thanks

Yea I'd like an answer to this one to. I poked around a little but couldn't make it work.
(BTW OP GM for the win. Nice!)
Do you have your ringtones in a folder titled ringtones? I did this on mine and seem to remember them not showing up in my music player when I was using it.
I (and many other people with the captivate/galaxy s) have had issues with the stock music player, although not directly related to the issue you mentioned. I believe that Meridian does what you are looking for, but doesn't look quite as nice as the Samsung app. I can't check because I decided I liked the look of tunewiki better (it doesn't have the ability to choose your folders.)
Yes ringtones and notify sounds have there own folder.
I found a apparently that seems to do it pretty well. Mixzing. Only shows my full lenght songs
Still if someone know a way let me know
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I'd also like to know how to fix this. I have stuff in my music player that's like... my photos? I don't want to use an alternative because I love the little pull-down interface on the locked main screen for controlling the native music player.
Oh this is easy. Just open notepad, choose all file types and save a file called ".nomedia" without quotes, and with period. Then put that folder in all places where you dont want applications to grab media. I put it in my ringtone folder and my gameloft folders (because gallery was showing game photos)

Search music for ringtone

I'm just setting up my MI 5S Plus and I'm used to using a custom ringtone that I always put in my music file. When I go to set the ringtone, I click the + at the bottom and what looks like some of my music MP3s come up but the one I want as a ringtone isn't listed. It's listed in the music app where I can search for it but I can'[t set it as my ringtone from there. When I try and add it from settings there is no search function that I can see and it isn't listed in my music. In the file explorer app I can search for it and find it easy but I don't see any way to set it as my ringtone. Suggestions?
Well I answered my own question. I couldn't set the MP3 as my ringtone from the music or file app that comes with the phone so I installed ES File Explorer, found the file, opened it with the ES Media Player that is part of the app, and there was the option to set as ringtone. So if anyone else has this problem this was the way I finally was able to do it.
