What version of flash is everyone using?
I couldnt get the version of flash thats on the viewsonic site to work at all (version 10.1.95.1). I found a version under /Sdcard/Master already on the tablet right from the factory (version 10.1.120.1). I installed that and it seems to work. Its even newer than the most up to date one from the Market on my Captivate cell phone (version 10.1.106.16).

derek,
There are many threads on this topic throughout the forum. Personally, I'm using version 10.1.120.10, but I think others versions like 10.1.120.1 and 10.1.120.5 will work. These versions are not optimized for the Tegra 2. Version 10.1.120.11 does not work (at least running on TnT Lite).
thanks
thanks for the link

Are there any versions optimized for Tegra 2 yet? I've read that even the motorola xoom doesnt come with Flash installed because the Tegra 2 isnt certified by Adobe yet??

That is correct, Official version by adobe has been promised some time in march. A couple of weeks remain, but hopefully that version will not require honeycomb .
adobe flash 10.2.152.2 possible
Just discovered another version of Flash at this location:
mustikamax.com-2011-02-15-download-update-adobe-flash-player-10-1-for-android-2-2-froyo
(not an exact url due to limited number of posts but enough to find on google).
The site identifies the version as 10.2.152.2 for Android 2.2 Froyo.
Can someone investigate and confirm that is legit? Will not be near my baby til after 5pm.
Thanks

Hello dev,
For those with Canadian version of 6210, can someone upload a rooted 6201XXLB2 rom? I I notice the 6210 version in the dev does not contain the XXLB2 rom.
Thanks.
Cheers everyone especially to the amazing dev
If anyone can help with this it would be really appreciated. Guess who upgraded to the ICS Rom, found out that my wifi was unworkable, and now had to load the "regular North American Retail Rom with the Peel app etc that I cant use

I don't think the XXLB2 is anywhere to be found around here. You might just have to stick with the XXLPL release until the XXLB2 is uploaded by someone or is released. I honestly don't know if its even released. I just looked for it and couldn't find it anywhere.
I'm in the same situation I search for the LB rom for P6210 but for LA3 just uninstall PEEL soft with titanium backup

Thank you very much anyway, The Canadian version P6210 has the XXLB2. which means it has been released. Will I have no problem with the XXLPL? I am satisfied with this rom but needs to change some few things. I am just being cautious if something happens.
I did a nandroid backup of the original unmodified LB2 in clockworkmod, before I started changing settings and installing apps.
You need to have garyd9's "CWM-based Recovery v5.x.x.x" installed in order to restore this nandroid backup:
garyd9's "CWM-based Recovery v5.x.x.x" post
I notice someone posted a newer version of CWM v6 - from what I understand, the newer CWM version is not compatible with the v5 backups.
If anyone finds this useful please reply and let me know. I also need recommendation on upload sites which are easy to use (ie. no registration etc.) and won't kill the upload quickly.
Slim_thumb,
Sorry, I was out for quite some time. Thank you for posting the link. It helped me a lot. I presummed that you have tried some ICS, what could be the best ICS replacement to our XXLB2 for the moment while waiting for our upgrade turn?

Could you post you're backup for LB2 version!?

What is the big difference between XXLPL and XXLB2? I have XXLPN is it better to flash to XXLB2?

No I have not tried ICS (official or custom).

Check your PM (I don't want the upload link to be killed too soon by posting it open)
@terrandroid
LB2 is the HC firmware specific to the GT7+ sold in Canada. It is not ICS. We have not received the OTA ICS update yet.
XXXLB2 firmware
If anyone has the XXLB2 firmware, could you please post it up. I would like to go back to stock for when ICS is released. Thank you in advance.

Does anyone else with the Canadian LB2 P6210 get the message in KIES that this model's firmware cannot be updated through KIES?

Yep
But a quick flash of the latest ICS from SamFirmware.com via Odin soon fixed that problem.

Oh wait, but I thought the current ICS firmwares don't work for the LB2 Canadian version because of the wifi?
Did you backup your current HC firmware before flashing or did you just risk it?

CromDubh,
I followed the other thread of SrumerJohn in Adnroid Development and installed that ICS firmware. I am not happy about the performance of that firmware.
I am glad you find the latest US firmware satisfactory. Did you use the temporary CWM method to root this US firmware, followed by installing permanent CWM?
I did try the original UK ICS firmware but unfortunately not very extensively..(no wifi being a bit of a deal breaker for me)....but I'm pretty happy with North American version.
As for rooting, I used the same rooting method as was used for the older ICS without a problem. I didnt install permanent CWM, just the the temp, but I'm sure I'll end up with the permanent one when its time to start playing with JB

The ICS version is slightly faster and more fluid than HC in terms of screen transition and opening apps, but my biggest problem is the Flash video performance. Interestingly, I had no wifi problem with the UK ICS version (this problem must be router-related).
I have problem with Flash video playing in the browser in both firmware versions. Not all video sites are affected equally - eg. Youtube 1080p does not play smoothly (used to play smoothly in original HC); Vimeo HD completely stutters (used to play smoothly in original HC).
Adobe apparently stopped supporting Flash and it disappears from Google Play store. I tried several older versions of Flash 11 (and even 10) posted as .apk (eg. at apktop), but none of them work smoothly (some of them even force close the browser) - and yes I did get the correct ICS version of Flash player.
I use Dolphin browser, and I tried the Flash video with the stock browser but the result is the same. Therefore it has nothing to do with the browser.
I have since gone back to my original HC through nandroid backup.
P.S. I followed StrumerJohn's guide to flash permanent CWM onto the US ICS version, and it works. However, at your own risk always.
I understand this might be a dumb question, but once you install a rom on your phone can you update your phone's software like normal to a newer version(if there are updates to be had) or do you have to install a new rom instead? I currently have Android running on my HD2, but my girlfriend wants a WP7 rom & she was curious if, once she had it installed, she could update it to the newest version naturally as updates came out or if that might ruin the rom. Again I know this question is probably very novice, but I thought it was a good one.
The HTC HD2 has a fully functional WP7 Mango and it won't get updated to Windows 8 (Like ALL the phones including the Lumias)
So there won't be any updates avaliable.

Thanks for your reply Georges! I guess I was just curious if I ran a rom that was based on an older version of WP7 for any reason(like 7.0), if I could do updates on it from Microsoft or if I needed to just flash an entirely new rom. Also, if I can't update then I suppose I was wondering if you could supply a link to a really good WP7 rom thread that is running the newest version. I checked the Microsoft site and apparently the newest version is 7.10.8773.98 (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/howto/wp7/basics/update-history.aspx). I found this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1665651), but it seems to suggest you need to have a Lumia phone. Not sure.
Hello. I just bought my motorla xoom. Its a pretty old tablet but i still prefer this than those galaxy tabs.
When i try to update, it says it has the latest version but then in the system it is still 3.2. How do you update this tablet? Is it not allowed yet?
Information on my tablet is:
Model Number:
MZ604
Android Version:
3.2
Firmware configuration version:
GAS_ASIA_HUBBLEWIFIHKTWNGEN_P007
Kernel version:
2.6.36.3-00042-g3c1a41e
[email protected] #1
Build Number
H.6.6-27
I hope someone can help me.. im just new at this..
I just bought mine too. It arrived today actually. It came with version 3.1, and, as soon as I went to software updates under Settings, it updated to version 4.0.4
I believe it depends on which country you are.
Unless you want to GEDify your Xoom (as I will do very very soon), then you will receive always the newest updates directly from Google.
BTW, I'm from Brazil.

It is rolled out to everyone in every country, bot NOT at the same time. One day you will get ICS and then JB...
Gedify comes from GED which stands for “Google Experience Device”. A “Google Experience Device” receives its updates directly from Google, without any customization or modification from the device manufacturer.
This is only possible if you flash the US version of Xoom's rom.
MZ604 here in Brazil, there in Philippines and in the US, is MZ604, so there's no problem doing that.
I'm doing it tomorrow!
BTW, if I helped you, hit the Thanks button!
It's done! And Jelly Bean is freaking amazing!

Hey man, i sent my xoom back since i had some problems with my macro shots.. they dont seem to focus well. and when i try it with flash, i only get white pictures. is that normal?
Can you also send me links on how to root-flash-GEDify xoom? if possible though without unlocking bootloader... thanks man...
Unfortunately I won't be able to help you with this... I rarely take photos... even with my Sony smartphone that has an awesome camera.
But I can take some photos to test and see if this is normal. Then I post here my views.
Rooting your xoom won't be possible without unlocking the bootloader. Unless you search for methods using exploits. But those methods didn't work for me but it might be worth a try. So unlocking the bootloader is the best way to root. It's save, pretty easy and you also have the ability to install a custom Rom later on to get jelly bean (I am currently running the cm10 nightlies)

Can you share your Firmware Version, Kernel Version and Build Number as well? After updating to 4.0.4, did your Xoom still have the "Quickoffice HD" app? What I have read from the forums is that GEDifying your Xoom would loose this app since the US-based Xoom does not have Quickoffice HD buddled with the device.

I got a couple of these 10.5 v 7 ones for the kids. One reconditioned one from Amazon and one from a local user. Both have been factory reset and fully updated but the one from Amazon will not update past 5.3.6.4 but the other one (which is older) is at 5.6.4 and seems much smoother. How do I update the first one to the latest firmware? I keep hitting the update button but it says that it already has the latest firmware!
Can anyone help please?

Fire OS 5.3.6.4 is actually 5.6.3.0, but Amazon messed up the version number. I've not heard of this newer version before, so it could be in a testing phase for only some people. I'd recommend you to wait until the tablet updated itself. Maybe it will also appear on the update website first.

Hello, everyone!
Brief history:
I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, 8", model SM-T330, which I basically use for work. Lately, the app I use the most has launched a new update which only works on android 6.0 versions and newer. Since the latest update available for my tablet is the android 5.1, I tried searching online for alternative ways to update it, so it can suit my needs (which is btw how I ended up finding this forum). However, I only seem to find the updated kernel (6.0 and 7.0) for the SM-T330NU. I have done some research on these models and it seems that the only difference between them is that the later was designed for the north american market, although all the specs are essentially the same.
Quick question:
Anyway, is there any possibility to update my tablet with the SM-T330NU kernel? Will it work or is it more likely I'll have my tablet bricked?
PS: I don't plan on buying a new device if there is a slight chance I can get it updated by any means necessary.
Thanks in advance!
You could think to flash a custom ROM. Which app is this? If it's an app of videocall, neither custom ROMs can help since blobs are of lollipop and can't support Android 6.0+ apps.
