Have you tried turning off your antivirus? Mine was deleting it as malicious.
that was it, i remeber seeing that, got it on now thanks
im having same problem with rage but cant figure out what is deleteing it i uninstalled mcafee completley theres nothing else on my computer
If you have Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer make sure to disable it too. It kept deleting the files on my Win 7 computer until I disabled it.
ya it was microsoft security essentials i got the root to work and my phone is now s-off but i was unable to flash the upgrade rom to my phone when its in bootlader it searches for the pd98img and doesnt fing it then my phone goes to
hboot usb gah im so close i can tast it but i cant get past this last part !!!!!
Having this same problem and it's really getting on my nerves lol. I have no anti-virus running and do not have the Microsoft program that you guys are talking about. Any other ideas what might cause that?

What method are you using to gain root? I think that the Ace Hack Kit V11x by Attn1 has abandoned the "rage" method" and uses psneuter now to gain temp root in order to run gfree.

Yeah and I really have very minimal programs on my pc. I clean out all the crapware when I get one and the only thing even close to malware protection or anti-virus that I have is McAfee which I killed completely through the task manager. I don't have a clue what would cause AceHackKit to just close when I open it like that. :\

I rooted using ATTN1's script (the other method aborted immediately and not in a kind way and scared me) and the quick flash and close when executing ATTN1's script was happening to me. Try <Control>-Right-click...felt kinda silly but at the same time relieved when that worked for me...I feel your pain. I also run with stripped back PC's. I have nada anti-virus for years, unless I suspect something and download Maleware bytes a couple of times and then un-install, and I never find anything anyways...I had to go install Java and latest frameworkNet before rooting. It took me two attempts...for each portion of the ATTN1 method. Script aborts, white screen soft brick, CWM black screen...each time I recovered the hand set, regrouped, verified the procedure...and did exactly the same procedure I had tried before and that is specified, because I had been reading for a month before I actually did it, and I was pretty versed in the procedure. ... anyway happy rooted now and will never go back. Worth the pain if can get through the rooting process IMO. Good luck.
Thanks to this, I forgot to turn off my anti virus. Cheers.

There are NO one click root options for the MyTouchHD. You must do it one of the ways posted in the development section. I believe Option94 on here once went to try it [create a one click root process] and and it wouldn't work correctly.
Thanks...thats what i thought..well his method was "semi-automated" you still had to run commands via terminal, but the fact my anti-virus came up with a trojan alert is what worried me, but i'll just root his MT4G the step by step way!

No problem this phone is a breeze to root. i've personally tried every method out there and had success every time.
There is a one click root method.. Via visionary from modaco.. All you have to do is turn s-off manually.

Antivirus software will occasionally flag root packages as virii because, well, they ARE exploits. Frankly, as long as you're getting it from here or another reputable site, I wouldn't worry about it.

VISIONary is not a true rooting tool. Root your phone with it then turn your phone off. See what happens.
VISIONary will give you temp root so you can permaroot it.
to the N'th degree you are correct, in the real world not so much.
Visionary has a permaroot option.... never used it, I temp root then use root.sh... takes like 2 seconds...

Rooting allows you to have permanent SU access to the ~/system files. VISIONary nor the Permaroot button allow you to do this. Permaroot your phone, try to flash anything to the /system file bank. It will not stick. It's simply just a "rooting" tool to help you gain permanent access to those file via turning the security protocol off. as soon as you turn off the phone everything goes back to normal.
I am coming from Dell Streak, I hope someone would post step by step instructions on how to root this wonderful device. Maybe the nods would provide a "How to" section keep this forum neat so that people would know where to go when they need something. Like how to root, how to do nandroid backup, how to flash a Rom etc.

Still waiting for the unlock code from cellunlocker, unfortunately, 3g/4g does not seem to work on this device as reported by fellow at&t subscribers and news also came out that at&t launched an update for my former device. Rooting
Obtaining root ("administrator", or "full") access to the device. This means you can mount its internal memory partition as read/write, which lets you do various things: have USB or Wi-Fi tethering, uninstall applications you otherwise can't uninstall (e.g. the Amazon MP3 store), install applications that need root access (such as AdFree), disable the camera shutter sound (simply by deleting the shutter sound file), overclock or underclock the CPU, install and boot Debian, and so on.
With the ability to root and unroot these days, I don't know why anyone wouldn't root even just to get rid of the bloatware from t-mobile.

so chillll...till the next episode....
First off ...seriously chill. Like the man says as long as you follow directions to the t, you'll be fine. secondly first rule of thumb when modding...anything... dont listen to any one who says "hey TRY this!"
don't try. DO.
I know it sux, but reading is your friend. read read and read some more. GO to the android forums and read there as well(im talking like android general/development)
Chill is your friend. smoke a doob, or drink a brewski, do yoga or whatever it is you do to chill out. The last thing you wanna do is work on your phone/computer/whatever in a frenzied panic state of mind.
rooting is easy.
like the man said super one click. the way to go.
drivers? zip?
check it:
dl zip to desktop. make a folder with said file name. put zip inside. unzip.
right clik and runa s administrator.
your pc will do the rest. hit run or just dbl click or whatever you gotta do
I made a folder "superoneclick" inside is the exe file which should be andy with a red glow.
BUT FIRST make sure you got usb drivers!
usb drivers? easy. No need to worry because if you dont have them your pc wont recognize the phone.
go to lg and get them. OR google. or search this forum.
DL and instal dont worry about where your computer will do that for you!
now plug in your phone
make sure usb debuging is on also probably a good idea to set the "allow unknown aplications"
do not hit "mass storage"
your GTG!
now hit S1C
it should recognize your phone
hit root!
DONE !
Woot!
easy no?
I hate to be an ass but if you are that nervous about it maybe you should wait.
spend a few days reading and when you are confortable....root that bizNATCH!
root rules but....its not the end of the world if you dont have it.
Hey,
I was wondering, is there anyway to gain temproot until we have full root? Am I right in thinking that temproot allows programs requiring root access to work e.g. AdFree?

1. First download the Gingerbreak.apk file.
2. Save on your computers desktop.
3. Connect the phone to your computer. (do not connect using htc sync)
4. Mount SD card as flash drive as you generally do for USB cable file transfers.
5. Copy the downloaded Gingerbread apk file to SD card root.
6. You should have any File Manager (e.g., Astro File Manager) on your phone. If not, download from Market. These are generally free apps.
7. Disconnect your phone from computer and launch File Manager. You will find in the menu of the phone.
8. Follow the onscreen instructions on File Manager to install APK to your phone from SD card root. You may also use the default application installer software to do this.
9. After installation completes, open the APK.
10. Press ‘root’ button. Simple, isn’t it?
11. The APK exploit will run for some time. Usually it runs for around 10 minutes. Your phone will be rebooted. In case it takes more than ten minutes for auto reboot, please reboot it yourself. Not to panic, this happens a lot of times.
12. Your device is now rooted. Congrats!
13. Make sure that SuperUser app is installed and is running. This is very important for you to enjoy the benefits of rooting.
In order to test if your phone has been successfully rooted, just click a screenshot of your phone. That should show that your phone has been rooted.
Yeah, but does it REALLY work?

Gingerbreak exploit is patched on the SGS II so doubt that will work. Also if phone needs to reboot, no way will root persist due to signed locked bootloader. Go ahead and try but we will need some L33t devs to break this phone.

It would be great if we could get this partial root. I personally don't mind not being able to flash custom ROM, but it is very important to me to be able to use some apps that require root permissions like adfree or titanium backup. From what I understand, this 'half-root' should not be very difficult to achieve cause it is not needed to mess with the bootloader for this purpose. The only requirement is to be able to uninstall htc sync for some time.
Here also a link detailing the differences between root levels and clarifying vocabulary. I am posting this cause it has been very useful for me to help understand, so it might also serves others..

for cwm just go to the CWM FINAL thread and get the update.zip not the recovery file
then place the update.zip on the ROOT of your sdcard meaning on the card itself not in any of the folders the card has OUTSIDE the folders
reboot into recovery and press reinstall packages and you are now in CWM
p.s you dont need the recovery file from the CWM thread because whitehawkx put it on the kd1 rom already!
Malware on a phone is dangerous and it is happening on android Its just linux underneath it all. Essentially it can take over you phone as its virus like and can recover any information that you input to your phone just like on a pc.

Lol to the idea of having a virus on an android phone...means stop watching porn and downloading bad apps haha.
I downloaded Bubby's One Click program (3-21-11_RC2.exe) and here is exactly what happened:
1. I know this may be my undoing but I did not turn off antivirus, it found a virus and cleaned it. Knowing my luck it cleaned something out that was critical in the steps.
2. I got the goldcard done (website was down the other day). I got it downgraded and now I have a working debranded Froyo Inspire 4g on 1.32.405.6. But with no sound.
Now something went wrong during a command prompt part and the program did not progress. I tried rerunning the program but it does not progress as it should.
What do I do now? I am going to try follow Cyanogen steps on their Wiki but is their an easier fix?
You need to completely disable or even uninstall your anti virus. Then, delete all of the one click root files. Then redownload, and start over.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
You could push rage to your phone to root it you can still root it with the downgraded rom. You don't have to start from the beginning. Just the part that pushes rage after you turn you anti virus off and redownload the gui.
The downgraded rom does not have the right audio drivers which is why you have no sound.
Also next time please search as there are many many many threads about this.

I did a search and did not find the procedure. I also searched on the internet. The problem is I do not know how to fix it and rerunning the file does not work. when you do a search for no sound Inspire 5 threads come up and I did not know what to do still.
I will do a search for how to push rage to the phone. Remember the 500mb program does not exactly let you pick and choose the point where to start.
Edit: I will try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352

use the hack kit. you can even use the older hack kit. It doesn't really matter the size of the program, its how the program is scripted.
There are many threads of downgraded inspire with no sound, the solution is flashing a rom, though you cannot do that because you are not rooted nor are you s-off.
your options.
1. Flash back to stock and restart the whole process.
2. Push rage from adb, then run rage through turminal emulator.
3. Use the hack kit, because you can choose where to start in the proccess, ie. Pushing rage and rooting.
Try using the hack kit. Start with menu option number3.

I got it done.
I used this tutorial which involved:
Downloading Android SDK and gfree
Changing system variable path in Windows
running command prompt
doing a whole heap of adb commands.
I installed Rom Manager and flashed unity rom in and I am good to go
This is still going on??? I got one of the first Inspires when Costco was selling them even before AT&T would.
Same exact problem using the Bubby One Click method way back in February.
Had to use attn1's method from there on.
Would have thought the problem would have been fixed by now

Bubby hasn't updated that thing in like 4–5 months.

I think bubby has left the building. The only support is from other members.
