Nice! I'm deciding whether to get this, Incredible S or DHD. Can you help? I'm not to concrened about the size. They all pretty much have the same specs. My only concern for the DHD is crap battery life, but it wont be as bad as my TG01. (1ghz cpu + 1000 mah)
The DHD will be cheaper though with the release of these new phones right?
What do you think? DHD or Desire S? I'm lookin for a cheaper phone. Will the DHD get the Sense update and gingerbread update? If so, i'm sold!
Cheers
price
it will be very competitive i think this is what mid-rang will be.
high end:
dual core 1gig ram + 4"+ screen 480x800 +
mid range:
single core 3.5-3.7 inch screen
low end:
600-800 mhz 3.2" to 3.5"less rgab
UK Prices
Carphone Warehouse has prices for the Desire S:
Handset only: £394.95
(Desire Z is now the same price, Galaxy S is £384.95).
Contracts on Vodafone and T-Mobile
CPW Desire S Prices
For a 24-month contract on Vodafone, free at £25/month without data; free at £30/month with 500MB.
T-Mobile, similar, but £30.64/month with "unlimited" data.
Those contracts look pricey for a phone which is only £10 more than the Galaxy S (Vodafone has the SGS free at £20-£25/month).
I expect (hope!) prices might fall in a few weeks when Orange and O2 contracts are available.

price is actually decent for carphone warehouse! their DHD is priced at £459! and the desire s is better!
Hello,

Mmmm £377.99. That does seem good for a phone that isn't out yet. Personally I think it will drop even more with competition from the dual core phones coming. I will be sitting on my bank balance for a bit longer yet...
There is also the new Samsung Galaxy S II Mini for HTC to compete with. It will be interesting to see how much that is with a 1.4Ghz processor and same size screen.
please help... this or Samsung Galaxy S i9000 (single core) i cannot afford dual cores. is the SGS still worth it?
does this have crap 2touch like the old desore or improved true multi touch.
help please!
I would check them out in a store - when it's available. Personally I would go for the DS though.

Welcome to the forum
I am agree mate, at least you can have the phones, but where I live not even available...
HTC makes a bad worldwide distribution as in Asia en Europe the give the best models and cheaper, but for the rest of the world phones are more expensive and less models we can get.
The best option is to have a friend traveling to Europe and ask him to bring the model you want.
Thatá what I made to have my Uni and I will make it again to buy the marvelous HD.
Ya that HD looked sweet if i could get one I would. I'm upgrading to a Cingular 8525 till I can get something better. I have been running a SX66 Blue Angel for 4 years but it does not support High speed internet. I will miss the big screen.
That has nothing to do with HTC, any time you buy a phone with a contract in Europe it's 10x cheaper than the subsidized prices here. That's like asking why you can get a free Samsung Omnia with Vodafone but it'll cost you $700 here in the States, and likely $350 even when it comes out through AT&T subsidized. As for the phones being stripped, really? The Sprint Touch Pro is just as powerful as the European version, and the Diamond has even more RAM and ROM. What are you complaining about? They're not stripped at all. The AT&T Fuze also has full specs compared to the European Touch Pro.
Hi everyone. Thanks for taking the time to read through this post.
I have a MyTouch 3G 1.2, and im looking to upgrade to a different phone, not because I'm not satisfied with it, but because of the dearth of roms available for it. My upgrade has to be to a phone that can run on the tmobile carrier. Id rather not get a higher end model because the only things I have for trade is the phone, an old blackberry pearl, and an old itouch. I was eyeing the HD2, but I'm not sure if I can find someone willing to trade for the above items.
If any of you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Dont do HD2!! If you like samsung wait for the vibrant 4G if you like HTC mytouch 4G! I have it and I love it
Curent : HTC Glacier (MyTouch 4G)
Dead : Sidekick iD
Sidekick 2010

iPhone 2G
Check your local Craigslist. I see "like new" HTC HD2s on Craigslist for $175-$200 quite often.
On eBay at least, your MyTouch 3G 1.2 is worth at least $100 and your iPod Touch at least $80. Not sure about the Blackberry, but from just what you have, I think you could easily make up most of the cost of an HD2 if you buy from Craigslist.
when i was in the club and tok bout my new HD2 out of my pocket the whole dance floor lit up the screen is so big and bright so i tarded to a vibrant and now just i got one probblem with it cant stop flashing new rom leaks lool
Thanks guys. I was considering the mytouch 4G, but there's nothing I can trade for such an expensive phone. I've been checking on craigslist, but it seems most people would rather get cash...

I would just sell some goods on eBay or something. Sell your iPod and borrow a little and then turn around and sell your current phone.
I'm fine with the htc desire with its high customization!!
Yeah, I think you'll have to do what Omen says and sell some stuff up front and maybe borrow some. Ebay usually gets top dollar, just use actual pics rather than stock photos.
CL definitely has the best deals, right now my local CL has an HD2 listed for $200 and even a few week old Samsung Captivate, also for $200.
HTC Desire is a really nice phone. I have the CDMA version and thought about getting a GSM version to replace my iPhone, but the GSM versions are really expensive, $400+. Probably because they were never subsidized by any US carrier.
Any way you go, I can tell you the 1GHz Snapdragon phones are a night and day difference over the MyTouch 3G in performance. I find the MyTouch 3G to feel sluggish, but the 1GHz phones are very responsive and fast. Once you try one, you can't go back.
Well, I don't really want to ship stuff to people, so I guess I'll have to troll Craigslist. Is the desire also snapdragon? I don't think there are that many people willing to trade away an unsubsidized phone. Forgot to mention, I also have an xbox 360. Could you guys give me a price approximation for each of the items I have? I can't really use a computer for the rest of the week. Thanks for all your help!

I don't know about you but I am waiting for a Tegra 2 phone as I am sure we it will get some awesome games for it. That thing is a BEAST. Unless it is down clocked :/
Yep, an HTC Desire has a 1GHz Snapdragon. It's pretty much a slightly updated Nexus One. The only differences I'm aware of is it has real buttons instead of the touch sensitive ones, and a virtual optical trackball instead of a real one. I doubt you will find one on CL because the GSM versions were ever subsidized here. The ones on eBay are either CDMA (US Cellular/Alltel) or GSM ones for sale by people in other countries that will ship to the US. Of course, Nexus One is a good one too, but also unsubsidized.
As for your stuff, if you want to sell on CL, I would just search your local CL to see what others are trying to sell it for. You can expect some people will want to bargain, so if you want top dollar, I would price it close to the higher prices you see, but accept offers better than the lowest prices you see. If you want to sell ASAP, then you'll probably have to price close to the lowest prices.
Tegra 2 will definitely be a beast, but I'm thinking to buy one without contract is going to be much more $$$ than an HD2 for quite awhile.
Although if you're sticking to TMO anyway, maybe it's worth renewing your contract to get a new phone at a subsidized price. I saw a thread on another site about subsidized pricing for existing TMO customers:
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=433671&t=2604849
Galaxy S / S2 or Nexus S
Definitively !
I came from HTC to Samsung S and it is realy awsome !
My father works for tmobile, so I have the employee plan. I can't upgrade phones (at least I don't think I can). Ive seen a lot of N1s.on CL, but I wanted the HD2 because of it's high customobility. I mean, 3OSs on one phone? That's like getting windows, linux, and max osx for your desktop. If there are any other cheap snapdragon phones, let me know. And I'll get right on to posting on CL. Incidentally, are there any of you living in socal?

Was gonna recommend a Tmobile G2 but might be out of your price range.
I would get a HD2, seen them in the $200 range. I was gonna pick up one for a backup to my G2.
Decided that I might as well sell off some stuff I don't use anymore. I've posted everything on craigslist, and im waiting for offers. Hopefully ill get enough money to buy some of the newer phones.
Also, I was originally considering buying the G2, just for its 4G capability, but it has a slower processor than the HD2, and that's one of my priorities right now.
If you guys can think of any other phones that might fit the bill, let me know please. Thanks!

Your kidding right? Your reading too much into clock speed. The HD2 uses the first generation snapdragon and the G2 uses the second generation snapdragon processor. HD2 uses the Adreno 200 GPU the G2 uses the Adreno 205. You need to do more researching.
Ahaha. Did my research, and apparently the G2 can be overclocked to 1.9GHz. Any other phones that can beat like this?

I plan to buy the Sensation out right in the next few weeks and sell my G2x to make up for some of the cost and make the purchase smaller.
I have two routes.
Get this Sensation from Expansys, and enjoy 100% what HTC intended with Sense, with no bloat. Along with no Carrier branding. I wouldn't have to pay taxes. A potential to get an S-Off version as well. If I go this route I will make this the first phone I add to my collection of phones.
Or
Go in store and purchase it out right and have bloat and carrier branding, but be required to pay taxes. If I go this route I will sell this phone once the next big thing hits T-Mobile in order to reduce overall price for new phone.
I live in Nevada and taxes are usually pretty high and make the purchase price more. What are some thoughts on this?

Well hombre,
the one from expansys isn't 4G compatible, where as the tmo branded one is. If that's not a deal breaker than throw the S-Off dice and get the unbranded one.
Really? The unbranded Sensation doesn't have HSPA+ capability?

Check your own link man, I clicked it and read the specs.
All I saw was band compatibility and it didn't say much else other than speeds it can download and upload. I saw on GSM Arena and both have the same network compatibility (HSDPA) which leads me to believe that GSM Arena needs to update its info. Both have same download and upload which leads me to believe that 14.4mbps download is accurate. Either way, its still going to download from the network fast.
From the tech data
"Network5 HSPA/WCDMA: Europe/Asia/T-Mobile US: 900/AWS/2100 MHz Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz"
Go through customer care or radio shack. My final price was 600$ at the T-mobile store
Unbranded it is then lol. I shoulda went with you when you got it kyle lol.
I bought mine outright instore. £470 simfree from carphonewarehouse

Agreed. I love this phone, but the SGSII simply has it beat in every single aspect (besides the qHD of course).
I cant spend that much for a phone. I just cant, the amount I would make back from selling the G2x wouldn't be much to dent the total cost.
I would just get one locally, some people are selling some identity theft-obtained ones or using their upgrades to make some cash.. and they're going for OK amounts of cash.
The Sensation 4G has better reception due to the extra antenna for Receive Diversity
Nah I want a recipt and proof of purchase security and returnability. G2x was boughr off hand and I could have returned for buyers remorse but I had to ship to original owner, long story short I want security.
just putting in my 2 cents...thumbs up for purchasing outright...i've been on that cycle for years and get brand new phones every year to 14 months for half price but selling my previous handset
i bought the sensation last week brand new (unlocked, unbranded, unbloated) for AUD $499, and sold my HTC Desire for $300 (because again it was unlocked, unbranded, etc)...$200 for a Sensation is a sweet deal to me
i usually buy from Hong Kong or UK online

I know you guys are talking about buying it outright but I just had to share my experience.... I went to the T-Mobile store and got them to price match Walmart's price of 148.88 and he told me to bring in proof and he would give me back the difference, in the meantime I went ahead with a normal upgrade of 249.99 with the mail in rebate of $50 I brought the proof in the next day and was credited back $101 and still got my rebate card back of $50 making my total purchase of the phone $98.88 with a 2 year contract of course...
So,what are the off contract prices for the galaxy nexus( in other country's)
in The Netherlands.
it will be released in December(late in my eyes) and for advice price of 649 euros!
really expensive in my eye's.
thats:
887,57 dollar.
564,76 British pound.
so im looking into a solution to import it for a cheaper price than the dutch version.
we use GSM here and that means the HSPA+ version if im right.
Pricing list:
The Netherlands- 649 Eur-887,57 USD-564,76 GBP
belsimpel.nl- 599 Eur-827,04 USD- 524,13 GBP [32GB]
MOBICITY- 605,50 Eur-810,18 USD-520,69 GBP [Pre-ORDER]
British retailer Clove-588,38 Eur-813,61 USD-514.80 GBP [16GB]
handtec.co.uk-575,99 Eur-795,27 USD-503.99 GBP [16GB]
Italy-599 Eur-828,30 USD-524,10 GBP [16GB]
T-Mobile-469,34 Eur- 649 USD-410,65 GBP[unlocked 32GB][Source unknown,not 100% accurate]
No prices announced yet in the US that I am aware of.
i've seen some news says that 299 USD with 2 years contract although not yet know how much need to pay every month
personal idea , retail price is usually double or triple of contract price
and pre-order price of MOBICITY is 799 USD...
let's make simple guess
i9100 dual-core 4.3" screen without contract = 549 euros in Spain
and i9250 is better (bigger screen...etc)than i9100 , i think it costs over 700 euros at least...
and new release model is always much expensive than usual ... maybe over 900 euros in the first few weeks

I really hope Tmobile sells it subsidized. It'd be foolish not to if Google/Samsung wants to get this device into people's hands.

Looks like Pricing for the HTC One S (US Tmobile version) was leaked or so tech article reads. Same price as HTC one X on AT&T w/ 2 year contract and $50 rebate. Should have been cheaper IMO.
http://www.bostonherald.com/busines...hone_users_in_ecstasy/srvc=home&position=also
Sorry if this is not helpful to anyone.
I'm more interested in the Retail off contract price. That's listed at $599 right now. Also it looks like the T-Mobile version isn't the MAO version. I was really looking forward to the MAO version despite all of the issues with it.
What bothers me the most is that AT&T will probably sell the higher classed HTC One X for the same price off contract. So Tmobile is overpricing their HTC One S seeing how it very obviously lies a tier below the One X according to HTC.
I understand it's Tmobile's flagship phone right now, but you still have to price it according to everything else on the market and not just what is available on your own network... that's how you lose customers.

Agreed. I am a little disappointed but I guess I will just deal with it... Thanks for the link.
Yeah bigger screen and higher resolution. Also LTE... so if you consider the things that people look for in a phone as screen size, processor, screen resolution, storage size, and network speed... then the AT&T HTC One X has larger screen, higher resolution, and faster network speed. So 3 of the 5 things people look for in new phones are a "generation" above the Tmobile HTC One S.
I don't really care about most of those things within reason which is why the HTC One S appeals to me. It's the right balance. That being said it's still lower end than the One X... even in the version AT&T is getting.
This is a huge Tmobile fail imo. Most of us will suck it up and buy it anyway, but like I said... that's not how to make a customer happy.

its not just bigger, its a IPS panel with 720p, which make it the best on the market today. One X also has NFC
also looks like no MAO after all the hype. Is that a good thing.....I dont know.
I just wish I knew if ATT coverage was same or better then Tmobile in Boston area, then I would just switch to ATT and get One X with pretty much zero compromises vs One S
AT&T 3G frequencies?
Anybody knows if the T-mobile HTC One S version also supports the AT&T 850/1900 3G frequencies? The T-Mobile support forum says yes, but the specs on the website do not specify them. If it does, then I would buy it full price, unlock it and use it on the AT&T network (the international unlocked version of the One S is missing the 1900 3G band).
Thanks.
Cell companies price all new phones at the same price off contract. An off contract phone should be no more than 400.00 to 450.00. They price them high so you feel like you are getting value with a 200.00 on contract price.

Best deal out there so far. you can pre-order it now too. But you have to select a data plan from them when buying that will run you $35 or 65$ a month. Cheaper to go through T-mobile.

Except AT&T LTE exists in about 15 markets right now and T-Mobile 42mbps HSPA+ is in over 150.

LTE is a joke on ATT and Sprint, but T-Mobile hasnt even started rolling it....
I wonder how is ATT's HSPA+ network. I am always afraid to switch to ATT, I just dont know a single person with ATT network in Boston area
I have two issues. 1. Screen size (like everyone is saying) 2. The bigger issue for me is the potential lower resolution for hooking up to a monitor. Although I don't know if movies will have the same resolution, I would love to hook up a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse while connecting to my TV for web surfing and more. Right now I bring my laptop and do that for watching movies and internet video presentations on the web for family, friends, and work. The thing is, for the price, I might as well buy a tablet with hdmi out and keep my old phone for tethering purposes.
Additionally, with smartphone makers listening to the market for future innovations, the message is muddled by carrier contracts and business models. In other words, carriers needs will overshadow consumers, and companies like HTC will wonder why their market share isn't doing better for the "allowed" upgrades. IMO, this is why tablets like the kindle and nook are so limited (using nook to type this).
Does anyone know what the early upgrade price will be?
I just ordered it from best buy, kept the same plan I had Unlimited Data throttled at 5gb. $199 free shipping. $223 after taxes and upgrade fees. Ships out the 22nd and says will be at my door step the 24th. That's according to Best buy. Will see.

I think early upgrade fee is like $404 or something close to that. If you have been a longtime T-Mobile customer they will usually give you a full upgrade if you ask for the customer loyalty dept. Ask what's the best price they can give you on your plan and phone because your interested in switching to At&t for the One X.
They should hook you up. I've done this 6 months ago and they gave me a $200 account credit and full upgrades on 2 of my lines when I wasn't due for almost 14 months. Been with T-Mobile for 10 years best at trying to keep customers.

its doesnt say it will ship on 22nd, it says AFTER 22nd. the rumors were that One S will be available on 25th
"BELLEVUE, Wash. — April 18, 2012 —Today, T-Mobile USA, Inc. and HTC Corp. announced the highly anticipated HTC One ™ S will be available at T-Mobile ® stores nationwide on April 25"
I know the release date. Just going by what my receipt said for the extra 4.99 I paided for express shipping. Either way I still get it.
