Does selecting the "wipe data" via clockworkmod recovery also wipes my stored pictures and music or does it only wipe all the OS data?

Nothing will wipe your stored pictures / music or SD card unless you partition your SD card.
Wiping factory settings is the ONLY one that would wipe your OS data.
If you want a full wipe.. wipe dalvik / factory / cache.
Wiping dalvik / cache won't do anything but if you're experiencing slowness, wipe those.. you dont really lose anything

Anyone know where pictures and videos are saved on our G2x? I've loaded a few different roms already, in CWM Recovery 3.0.2.4 did a wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition but my pics always still show up.
Is it under mounts & storage that I need to erase?
I see cache, data, sdcard & system.
Should be under /sdcard/DCIM
hey guys yesterday i just flashed my sensation to S-OFF and flashed the rom to leedroid 3.0 for the first time so i have a question if i want to move to another rom what i gotta do first?Just reflash the other rom?or i need to do other things before i move to the another rom?

All you need to do is wipe your data and wipe the cache.
and Flash the other ROM's zip file!!

I´ve made a nandroid and then I do a Full Wipe.
wipe data, cache, AND dalvik cache in recovery
make a Nandroid backup first, Then wipe data, cache, Dav cache etc..there are many good tutorials on this site to help you on this... good luck!
From RECOVERY: Make a Nandroid Backup, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik cache, and from there you can flash whatever ROM you want from your SD CARD.
Also i found that using ROM Manager, you can do a backup (like Nandroid Backup), it saves the files on the SD CARD and you can also copy the file to your computer (in case your something happens to your SD CARD for example), and whenever you want if you don't like the new ROM that you just installed or you are having problems with it, you can restore your previous ROM.
I've been using for some time now LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.3-Port-R5 Ginger Sense 2.1 and it's great.
Why wipe cache and dalvik as well? You guys realise dalvik cache is stored in the cache partition?

you don't have to wipe dalvik cache if you don't want to... you will just have to deal with any problems you run into

I have a quick question. What do all the wipes in ClockWorkMod actually wipe?Specifically, what do the following actually wipe?
- wipe data/factory reset?
- wipe cache partition?
- wipe Dalvik Cache?
I did do a search, and have installed many roms, and although I follow all the instructions, I have never known what these actually do.
Wipe data means your ROM setting and date and time such things will be deleted
Wipe cache means wiping the cache of user and system apps.for every application it allocate some space for cache that well be removed
Wipe dalvic cache is wiping compilation cache.in Android having a dalvic compiler.

Wiping data means deleting all the apps unrelated to system application, and in addition, it also deletes most the saved data for all applications (from /data/data) folder.
Wiping cache means deleting all those files left by installation process or any other temporary mean. In general it is safe to do so without getting anything reset.
Wiping dalvik cache (/data/dalvik-cache) means deleting all the cached files generated by compiler. In general it is safe to do so without getting anything reset. This is also epic useful when you face force close error. It may have something to do with the dalvik cache.
Is wipe data and factory reset the same?
I see a lot of roms say wipe cache, wipe data, and wipe dalvik cache. In TWRP on my Note 2, I see wipe cache and dalvik cache but not data. Is wiping data the same as factory reset? If not should I just ignore "wipe data"?
I'm sorry for this very basic question. I've tried to read some thread, but I haven't understood if wipe data (CWM 6.0.1.0) deletes also the internal sd (music, download and so on) or not.

In my experience..if you do full wipe/factory reset, it only reset or delete system file..

I've read (but the thread wasn't about GT plus) that CWM wipes only system files and leaves all the user files in the internal sd. On the contrary, stock recovery and android factory reset should wipe the internal sd too.

Also called userdata, this partition contains the user data - and here that the contacts, messages, settings and applications that are installed by the user are saved. Erasing this partition is essentially performs the data recovery device to factory defaults, returning to the state it was in when the first restart, or after the installation of an official update or a custom ROM. When you run wipe data\factory reset is clear in practice this partition.
/sd card
This is not a partition on the internal flash of the device, but the SD card In terms of use, this is the storage space used to store media files, documents, etc ROM on it.
Delete this partition is completely safe, enough to have done before a backup of all data that affect on your computer. We must bear in mind that even different applications installed by the user save the data and settings on the SD card, and then delete this partition will make you lose all of these data.
If it is not directly selected "Format sd ", the internal memory will be deleted and the data such as photos, videos, backup, etc. will remain.
For cleaning system , enter Recovery Mode wipe data/factory reset , wipe cache partiton ,wipe dalvik cache,format /sdcard!

Can i don't wipe the "internal storage"? By doing this, my previous rom, will be completely erase or not? What i should wipe in "Advanced wipe" for install custom rom and delete all things except my media files?

You don't necessarily have to use the advanced wipes, what you are trying to do can be done with the default wipes, the default wipes are: wipe data, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. The default wipe can be done just by selecting the "Wipe" option, then, on the next screen" at the top it will say "wipe data, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache", at the bottom, there will be a slider, just swipe the slider to perform the default wipe. You can do the same wipes by choosing the "advanced wipe" option, then select the data partition, cache partition and dalvik cache partition, then perform the wipe. Custom recoveries are designed to wipe /data but not /data/media, /data/media is where all your stuff in internal is located, that does not get wiped unless you choose the advanced wipe and then select the internal storage partition when performing the wipe.
Your /data/media will survive through any wipes or flashing that you do in TWRP, it will never wipe your personal data unless you specifically instruct it to.
