I currently am running cm7 on my inspire, I installed and am using swype as my input method. Whenever I double tap a word for the swype suggestion box I also get a box from the messaging app listing cut, copy, etc. how can I get rid of this as it gets in my way. Thank you!

Disable auto adding http:// to url in browser?

Any way to disable adding the http to the url/search box in the browser? It's pretty annoying having to delete it each time I want to do a Google search. The Nexus One doesn't automatically add it and I like that a lot better. Thanks.

Hit the physical search button at the bottom takes you to a search only box. That is how I got around it at the store hope that helps

Stock Messaging App- Pressing enter to send?

Is this possible? I really like the stock texting app, but I am unable to have a text sent without having to click on the touchscreen. Every other app in the world allows you to hit enter to send, but this one gives a new line. In a text. Which is pointless.
Any help would be great.
Go into settings in the stock app there's a option to send with enter click it

Hmm, I've gone into the settings again, and see no option for it. I am running stock KD1 with the stock messaging app. In the new message (aka universal composer) screen, settings only lets me choose which services to show. In the all messages screen, settings gives me a bunch storage and options, but none are related.
I am familiar with the plain vanilla android messenger app's setting for send on enter, but the sidekick I got doesn't have that.
And you have a different Rom listed on your signature. Could that have a different messaging app than me?
I understould wrong I thought u ment aosp messingin yes the stock sidekick messenging dosent allow it

Personally I prefer it this way, after having sent piles of half-finished texts from my G1 while trying to backspace or go for a letter. It's nearly impossible to send a text by accident now.
Where did Menu + M go? It should have been included.

When in Handicent, click menu and choose settings, > Application Settings and Defaul Messaging.
This supresses the native Android notification.
Good luck
I did that...i selected disable...and when i get texts...i still get both notifications ...weird...?

APK files

I've downloaded a keyboard (from abso tools to be specific), I moved the file to system/app and installed it and its still a no show.
Rebooted and still not there.
What else can I do? Thanks guys

You don't move files to the system/app folder and then install. Leave it on your sd card and run it from there to install. First thing I would do is go it out of there. Then see if the keyboard needs enabled in your phone's settings under Language & Keyboard. Then open up a text box to type in. For example use your text messenger. Long press in the text box, release finger, and choose Input method. Then choose your new keyboard.
Done all the above.
Downloaded again, installed from SD card. Went into setting and enabled swype, long pressed on text box, selected swype and got a force close repeatedly.

Swype is free in beta form and can be gotten from swype.com. I know nothing of the version you are installing as it can be incompatable with the Inspire. There are many versions for many phones.
I'm installing blue swype from the absolution tools.

Did you uninstall Swype and reboot before trying to install the abso keyboard?
Uninstall swype that's already installed on the phone?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Yes. Uninstall, reboot, then install the Abso Swype.
Where would the swype be located? I can't find it
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I usually uninstall with Tibu. But you can also go to settings/applications/manage applications and uninstall there.
There wasn't a swype in there.
I'm confused lol. Ill just make do with the gingerbread stock keyboard.

Ok, if Swype wasn't there is not installed. I don't know what to do.
I read in another thread where someone was having a similar problem. They moved the apk to sys/app and it worked. Tried that and still a no go. Installed from SD card, rebooted and still not there. Idk what else I can do.

I've tried several different keyboards with no luck. I got then to install, but i would keep getting an update notice
If you are getting update notices for swype then all those versions are out of date. The version I am running is 3.26.92D.36178.t0. If the number is lower then it is outdated.
Did you try the swype beta from swype.com?
Let me get this straight. In order for me to use the blue swype keyboard from absolution tools, I first have to DL the beta from swype.com?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I didn't understand that you had to have this BLUE Keyboard. I thought you just needed swype. Since that version wasn't working I was giving you a way to get swype.
Give me the link to this blue keyboard and I will have a look at it.
Edit: I see that Absolute Tools is included in the Absolute ROM. So why would you not be asking this question over there in the ROM thread? You seem to be holding a conversation of non informational chit chit over there so why not ask this there where they can help you?
Because this isn't just about the keyboard. I've had other problems with apk files also, just used the keyboard as an example hoping the resolution would help with other issues.
Also, I've found out that none of the keyboards work anyways.
Thanks for your help though.

schunter, post your question in the Abso Q&A. I don't personally use swype but I had no problems getting it to install. However, I did get the update notice and it does not function as expected(swyping to type), I had to type normally for it to work.
I'll get w/the team leader to try and resolve this.

Any app that can remember phrases, sentences, etc?

I want to be able to use a gesture / shortuct to be able to paste a remembered phrase or sentence. Does this exist?
I'm using CM9 and the stock messaging app I'm using has the feature. If i go in the app, and go to setting s, it's at the bottom under sms template. It will allow me to make a gesture path and attach whatever phrase or sentence i want by making the gesture on top of the messages. For instance i use an 'L' gesture to send my wife a quick 'i love you'. Hope that helps!

I wanna be able to use this in emails though too and forums.
As far as my knowledge goes, that's the only thing I've found that does that. At least that is one thing you can use it for! :-D

Not exactly... but Clip Ninja (paid -- around $1.45) is a sort of Textarea Cache/Lazarus for Android. Anything you've typed (except passwords) is saved for 7 days by default. You can star stuff to keep it. Then you can paste it into anything. Not via gestures though, but the app resides in your notifications, so you can get to it easy enough.
Multi Ling keyboard from the play store has an add-on called auto-text, where e.g. BB automatically inserts be right back. And you can define your own abbreviations and texts/phrases. But you'll have to use the keyboard in order to get it working.
Paranoid Galaxy Note N7000 - PARANOID ANDROID (CM9)
SwiftKey keyboard has this.. Kinda..
It learns your speech patterns and then suggests the most common words you typically use...
I'm my text message app before I type anything it offer "hey" then the choice of "dude" or "love". As I usually start texts like this to my buds or my wife.
I can send texts without "typing" a single word... It also works in a lot of other apps like xda premium
