So natious was kind enough to give us at Honeycomb theme for our tabs. I am not a fan of gradient status bars so I made one with a flat black bar. All credits go to natious originally for the whole theme. I will be adding more tweaks that I like and will update the thread as well for those that are interested.

- adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
- make a backup of that file as it is your working original
- adb push /path/to/this/framework-res.apk /system/framework/
- adb reboot
*NOTE I did this in recovery, specifically CWM. Sory for no flashable zip file yet (I dont know how to make one)

v0.1 - Mar 5 2011
- initial upload of framework-res.apk
- only status bar is changed
Good job, funny tho, my next update was going to remove the gradients on everything, only problem tho it made it look like the status bar was connected to the drop down quick panel .
To make a flashable zip, just replace your apk inside the framework folder of my flash-able .zip

I am a bit new too this stuff. Can you tell me where do I find the framework-res.apk on my device and how do I then add the new honeycomb theme apk file.
The framework-res file is in /system/framework . If you do my install steps from my first post then what ever directory your on on your computer is where adb will put the pulled defualt system one. Then rename it or move it to a safe place and put my new one in the same directory and push it back to the device.

No, if you are rooted you can use root explorer to replace the apk, but cwm is always the best way

It went wrong, before I could set the permissions my Tab locked up and I had to use recovery mode, adb and rageagainstthecage to copy the original back into place - oddly enough I then tried to add the file from above using this method, set the permissions and ownership and my Tab refused to boot with it getting stuck in a loop while showing the Samsung logo.

Ah my mistake, was pretty much the stock 2.3.3 that's been going around on here so I think the problem was of my own making.

My tab is running on Overcome 2.0.0 RC1
I replaced the framework-res.apk with the one from you.
After the reboot my tab only shows the "Galaxy Tab SAMSUNG" screen who is blinking.

go re-flash the rom again or just restore if you got backup

You don't need to reflash an entire rom or restore a backup, pull tbw framework from the original rom and just replace the one that's in this zip

I flashed the rom again and now it still works.
That means that I can't use this status bar with my rom, right?

Instead of the first step 8 (lol) I recommend
/system/bin/mv HtcLockScreen.apk HtcLockScreen.apk.bak
Then if you want it back you can do it in reverse. Also make sure to get a different alarm clock if you use the stock one otherwise you can't shut it off without restarting the phone.

Dont think that its possible... the current clock on device was designed by HTC to go over the HTC lock screen. you will need the deskclock for the vanilla lock screen

you will need to do 2 things to your framework, first change the images for the background of the notification bar as well as update the jar file.

nice work! thanks for contributing!
This worked great for me. Thanks for all the work. BTW, I'm s-off using the deodexed 8/26/10 leak with bloatware removed. Also, I've tested the clock and it works fine for me. I use the stock app and don't back out to the lock-screen(just use the dimmed app setting). Works great so far.
Update: Desk clock didn't last through the night so I guess I was wrong, wrong, wrong. Oh well, everything else is awesome.
Phone: Froyo 2.2 with root and S-OFF
I am trying to theme the clock widget with no luck. All I am trying to do is replace the flip digits, AM, PM, and background with identical sized graphics. I have tried replacing them with WinZip and 7Zip. I am signing them with the test signature which works with every other type of apk file.
I mount the system partition and push the new version with adb and when I restart all I get is a blank widget. It also shows up in the widgets list as something like 01db as the name.
So, I suspect the signing is the problem. Could be some signature check within the widget causing it to fail.
Any thoughts?
If anyone has this widget working with a black background and silver digits I would be just as happy.
I'm afraid I can't be much help at the moment, since I'm away from my computer, but here is a mod from the hero forums that I used to use on my eris. It'll be mdpi instead of hdpi, but taking a look at its files might help you out.

Actually no I haven't. Worth a shot Thanks
Well, that was weird... Pushing it unsigned worked. I never thought to try that since any add on apk's I have done needed to be signed.
Thank you
So, to summarize:
Code:
1) Open apk with 7zip and leave it open
2) Extract res folder to desktop
3) Modify graphics or whatever (I only did graphics)
4) Drag the res folder over the zip window and drop
5) Exit 7zip
6) Go into recovery mode and mount /system
7) Connect phone to pc
8) Open cmd and cd to your sdk folder where you put the apk
9) Push to original folder (in this case adb push HtcClockWidget.apk /system/app) on phone in recovery mode
Happiness
Awesome, glad you got it to work. The way I usually do it is to push any apk unsigned first, and if I have problems try it again but sign first.

I guess I just got hung up on signing since I have never had luck with unsigned. However, this was my first attempt at a built in apk.
Thanks again

I am assuming you have the USB drivers installed and not HTC Sync.
When I ran SRS 2.5.2 it had the MOD for the silver clock widget, I now have 3.1 RC3 but when I try your method, "adb push HtcClockWidget.apk /system/app" it uninstalls the stock one but does not install the new one. I have to flash a Nandroid backup to restore it. What am I doing wrong? I really liked the one from 2.5.2 and want it again.

I can understand it not working if you are on other than a stock 2.2 ROM since it is from the stock. What I don't understand is why pushing you original backup back isn't working.
Can you reinstall it from your Nand backup?

I had done it but the posts were lost when the site was recovered a few days ago.

Instructions on editing the sprint banner can be found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708419
To do this mod you wouldnt delete the original png...you need to replace it with the modded png file. I would make and save backup of the original on your local hard drive that way if you ever wanted to go back to stock or create a new banner with a different image you would have a copy of the non modified stock png to work with.
Thanks, I got the header and closer .png changed. Now to get rid of the pesky Sprint lettering.

when i do this procedure i get all kinds of force close errors. to the point of i have to do a nand restore. i edited a "status_bar_header_background.9.png" file from another theme. The .png image file is the same physical size, but the framework-res.apk file is now larger in size than the one i edited it from, does that have anything to do with it?
Im currently currently working on a fully Rooted Deodex OTA 2.2 with Senses like status bar (black status bar with white lettering) and transparent notification bar, with some build.prop mods:
1.To make the phone ring faster when dialing out, I changed
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=3000
to
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=1000
Now the phone rings pretty much instantly when dialing out.
2.To enable better scrolling speed through lists, I changed
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=55
to
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=60
Scrolling through the app drawer and contacts and any lists really is now smoother.
3.Now, to save battery by decreasing the amount of time Wifi looks for an access point, I changed
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval =60
to
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval =90
Now wifi will scan once every 1.5 minutes when not around a known location instead of once every minute which will save battery.
I also changed the Dalvik VM heap size from
dalvik.vm.heapsize=30m
to
dalvik.vm.heapsize=32m
Credits to LexusBrian400 for the build.prop mods.

will it include the new baseband and kernal? i see the sc... but didn't know if that meant the update would include those items.
If you already have the official OTA Froyo and just want the deodex'd files, they will be posted later.
cool. thanks. just didn't know if this was going to be the easy-update method or not.
so this is really more for folks who've done the official OTA update (e.g. downgrade from leak via sbf to 2.1 -> update to official OTA)?
OP, you should check out this
All the build.prop edits you mention are already discovered ..make sure to give credit to Lexus http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771232

I understand.. I was just showing you a place so you can "borrow" some stuff from so you won't have to do alot from the beginning. Like the black task bar.. I see your big picture and was no way trying to compare the two
Good luck. Can't wait to see the finished product.
For those of you who just want the deodex files, you can download the done folders and place them in the root of your sdcard and run the commands.
Deodex Files
1. Place phone in USB Mass Storage; place done_app and done_frame in root of sdcard.
2. Place phone in PC Mode; run commands below.
adb shell
su
stop
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/system /system
cp /sdcard/done_app/* /system/app/
cp /sdcard/done_frame/* /system/framework/
rm /system/app/*.odex
rm /system/framework/*.odex
exit
exit
adb reboot
3. Enjoy your deodex'd OTA Froyo.
So this can be applied with the clockwork recovery over the first leaked version of 2.2 with no problems?

this has a new baseland, so i dont know if problems would occurs, but they shouldn't since your getting all the info from this recovery backup.

Ok I think i'll give it a try tomorrow. Can you apply any 2.2 status bar themes to it as you could to the leaked 2.2 versions?

Do you think if I applied this I would be able to use the clockwork recovery to go back to backup I made of the 2.3.9 I have now? Or would the new baseband files give it problems?
TBH i dont know since ur coming from a leaked 2.2 to OTA 2.2, back to leaked 2.2 though clockwork recovery...

why would you want the leaked 2.2 when u can get the official OTA 2.2 with all the same thing but with better performance...
Just want to be sure, I can apply the update.zip through clockwork over the leaked version and I'll be rooted, deodexed official 2.2?

Been running my x with this for 3 days and it is super responsive and fast. My question is what would happen if I did a factory reset? Will i still be deoxd froyod and routed?

Nexus One Retail Boot Animation - (ICS) Revised
What is it?
This is a modified CM5 boot animation, which itself is a modified version of the stock boot animation that the retail Nexus One devices have been shipped with.
What i changed?
To match my idea of an ICS version of the stock animation, i removed the CM Logo from the CM5 boot animation and made slightly changes to the base color to match the correct blue used in ICS.

How does it look?
Basically this is a stock Nexus One boot animation - with a touch of Ice Cream Sandwich.
Part0 of Boot animation:
Part1 of Boot animation (actual loop):
How to use?
To use it, use ADB to push the attached ZIP onto your device as follows:
Backup original
Code:
adb pull /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Push new
Code:
adb remount
adb push /local/path/to/bootanimation_passion_ics.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot
NOTE:
If you use a file explorer to copy files, or type in the commands (instead of c+p), make sure you change the name of the ZIP from bootanimation_passion_ics.zip to bootanimation.zip! The boot script is looking for /system/media/bootanimation.zip. If you have /system/media/bootanimation_passion_ics.zip (or anything else) it won't work!
UPDATE / MIUI MTZ VERSION
At request i created a mtz version of the boot animation. I've never used MIUI and never came accross this mtz file format before. All i did was following the suggestion i found here on XDA; Open an existing mtz file with 7zip and replacing the zip. I did not tested that version. Please let me know if it works.
Very cool! How long did that take you?

all together, round about half an hour
Very nice thanks.
I tried this last night and it didn't work
I downloaded the file, I used RootExplorer to removed the stock boot animation from the folder you suggested (running ICS ROM) and then I placed the new zip you created into the said folder.
When I reboot, my new boot animation (it did change) is a simple "Android" that has a silver "flash" look as if its shimmering.
Any suggestions?

First idea: Have you changed the name of the ZIP from bootanimation_passion_ics.zip to bootanimation.zip (maybe you forgot it, as you used a root explorer rather than copy the commands)? The boot script is looking for /system/media/bootanimation.zip. If you have /system/media/bootanimation_passion_ics.zip (or anything else) it won't work.

A) What phone model is it?
B) Have you tried to place the zip into /system/media anyway? And if not, what happens when you try that?

A. Nexus one (ch3ky's oxygen1mod)
B. Yea i placed it /system/media . Still its the same. No animations.
I tried it in /system/bin. No change again.
PS: The default bootanimation that i removed from /system/bin had no extension. I even tried to place it back as it was originally. Still the same mate

I can't find the oxygen1mod sources right away. but some roms will need the file in /local/data/bootanimation So you could try:
Code:
adb shell mkdir /data/local/bootanimation
adb push bootanimation_passion_ics.zip /data/local/bootanimation
adb reboot
Alternatively i found this thread, that might help (your ROM needs init.d support for that solution!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641189
Tried as u sed. But still the same.
Dev asked to jus place it in /system/media. No effect for that aswell.
While trying for this i once removed the bootanimation file from /system/bin and placed it later. Could that be the issue???

Works perfectly for me, thank you !
That's exactly what I was looking for!! Thanks! ... I dont like the boot animation that comes with my actual ROM....
@Bexton: Thank you for the animation file. I did hit the Thanks button . I assume that I will have to push the revised bootanimation every time I flashed a new ROM, right?
Very very nice thank u
