Hi all,
i've got a normal nexus s, not rooted or anything, its running 2.3.2 as i haven't had the OTA yet. However strange things have started happening this week with regards to my battery.
I can no longer shutdown the phone whilst its plugged in, it goes through the motions, vibrates and then just hangs on the dimmed screen with shutdown on it. when i unplug the cable, it switches off. However, when i then plug the cable in, it starts up the phone, instead of just charging when switched off with that white battery meter.
It has also stopped recognising that it has been plugged in on the battery use info screen, so it is saying that i have been on battery power for almost 6 days now.
Its not a dealbreaker for me, but i haven't tinkered with anything, and its just plain annoying. I'm starting to think its just shizzle samsung hardware. Anyone any ideas? Or same thing happened? Cheers.

Hello,
recently, my 7Pro drained all the battery and turned off. When I got home, I plugged it in and waited to finish the charging. After 20 minutes I noticed that the phone powers on, put the announcement that the battery is critically low, stays on for about 3-5 minutes, then turns off itself. After that it shows big battery icon on a screen and nothing is happening. Again, when I plug the cable out and in again, the phone starts and behave again the same (stays on and then turn off by itself).
Does anyone encountered similar problem? Could it be faulty battery? I've tried 3 different chargers (including car), tried to charge it from my 2 computers, tried charging while in bootloader mode, also I've reset it to defaults (+; - ; power). Nothing helped so far.
I have it still in warranty, but I have cooked ROM made by ansar. I'm a little afraid to send it like that to HTC.
Any advices greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
OK,
I will answer myself
Do not give a phone to your younger brother! Little brat somehow changed USBMode to "diag" and uninstalled the app! I have restored the phone to defaults and managed to check that before it turns off. After switching to Zune mode, the phone is charging without any problems.
So anyone having similar problem might want to check it out before panicking like me.
today i woke up like any other day, turned on my Infuse after having a fully charged battery and after doing my morning routine i went to work. on the car i did a random screen unlock, and lock (just to see the battery level), but when i get to work my phone didnt turn on; so i removed the battery thinking it froze, and when i tried to turn it back on after re-inserting the battery nothing happened. i tried plugging into the charger but nothing happens (no vibration, no bottom lights). when plugged into wall charger, after a couple of minutes, (the right side of the back camera) starts heating up for no apparent reason. plz anyone knows whats wrong or any ideas???????
Looking for any help or guidance here. I searched the forums and have found limited info fitting my situation.
My S3 is rooted running Jelly Beans Build 15, today I was sitting here playing a game the phone was in use for a while so it was warm to the touch as it can normally become... mid game there was a slight flicker of the screen and it DIED.
Since then I can not get any power back. I pulled the battery, and tried to power up I get a vibe then nothing happens. I've tried to reboot into DL or recovery all it will do is vibe then nothing happens.
I plugged it into the charger and it will vibe, the LED doesn't come on, and the battery icon on the screen will flash on and off the screen, each time it appears there is a short vibe.. with all that the phone won't boot.
I've had it about a year. SO did it just sh!t the bed on it's own??

My first S3 did almost the same thing one day. My wife and I both got them on launch day and mine always seemed to run out of battery a bit faster than hers. One day, it got really warm in my pocket and the battery started draining out of control, it dropped 10% in a few minutes and just kept going until it was dead. Plugging it into USB to charge, it vibrated, I got the big battery icon on the screen, then reboot, vibe, icon, over and over again. I had to exchange it with Verizon.

Any chance you could get your hands on a different battery to try? I was in class once playing some dumb mini putt game some guys played next to me, and my phone just completely shut off. I couldn't get it to turn back on and at the time it turned off I had ~half battery. I got back to my room and put a different battery in it and it worked fine. I charged the battery that wouldn't work and it now works fine again. Not really sure what the problem is though...
But yeah. Find another battery to use to get it to boot back up
So the phone is alive and working. It seems there may have been an issue with the battery level and a bad reading. When the phone died it read 20%, I hooked it up to a usb power cable on my pc and work and it didn't work.
When I got home I plugged it into the OEM charger and it was showing the battery was essentially dead and charged the phone back up...
That's all that happened... strange but true

Then it didn;t brick itself..... it had help.
I think you have the same problem I did. When my phone completely dies and I plug it to the charger the battery charging icon goes on and off or if I get lucky stays on and charges it. But I put the same battery o. Another phone it charged instantly. I got a replacement from verizon.

I have a Samsung i727R. I’ve had the phone for about a month. Have not used it a lot, no rooting, just ‘normal’ usage. I have not downloaded anything interesting at all.
The problem started a couple weeks ago. It started when I plugged the phone in to charge and nothing happened. I could still turn the phone on and everything worked fine, but it just would not charge. This makes me believe it is not the battery.
So I bought a new OEM cable. It still would not charge (not into the wall or computer. BTW my computer has never recognized that my phone was plugged into it since I’ve had, which I assume is an unrelated issue). But I decided to leave it plugged in longer, and after about an hour, it started doing a short vibration every few seconds, and every few minutes it would just turn on and stay on until I turned it off. Still does not charge. This makes me believe it is not the cable.
I have read about the sticky power button. The power button seems to be working fine (it feels fine / not sticky), and I can turn it on and off without a problem, and operates normally. It just starts on its own as well when plugged in.
Could it be the charging port? I’m unsure because the vibration only happens when I plug it in, so the phone is recognizing that it is plugged in; it’s just not charging.
If not the charging port, what else could it be?
any takers? if you know the answer is posted elsewhere, please direct me where to go. I don't think its the sticky button problem, so not sure what next.
ok, I've had no responses from other members, so I dismantled and checked out the power button, as my problem has some symptoms of the power button problem. but after cleaning, pushing, reassembling, there is no change from the situation I described above.
there is one bit of new info: I left the phone plugged in (it turned on after about 4 vibrations, as usual), but while it is on and plugged in, every minute or so the message indicates it is charging! this lasts for about 5 seconds, and then it proceeds to tell me to plug it in again.
really sounds like it would be a poor connection (replace the charging port?), but seems odd that the pattern of events would be so consistent. if the phone had a poor connection, I would think it would work well for a bit, and then not work at all for a bit, etc.
please help!

u answered ur own question, bad connection, its either the cord or charging port or batterycontacts or even a bad battery but more likely a connection prob
S2 SKyrocket wont start up!
k, so here is the scenario. I have rooted and have jelly bean running since the official update came out from at&T. It has been working fine. No issues just some bug with the camera and the pictures that I managed to deal with. 2 Days ago my phone after battery reached 1% went dead. It has happened before, I just plug it in and charge, everything works smooth. Until, the phone never charged and when I attempted to turn on it just vibrates once , Samsung logo quickly comes up and disappears.
I know its not a sticky Power button issue as the phone does not start up when I insert the battery. I attempted to go into recovery mode but nothing happens.
Don't think the phone is bricked since it shows some kind of life. Not sure if I should buy another battery or charge the battery on another device...While I try to troubleshoot this. Does anyone have any suggestions, and IF i have missed a sticky please direct me to it, since their is so much content here.
Thank you in advance!
Hello Everyone,
So I am in a bit of a dilemma, I am fixing a screen on my HTC One M8, I thought I had the phone fixed and ready to go, everything worked perfectly except when I plugged in the phone to a charger on the screen the phone said charging however in the upper screen where the battery icon is there was an exclamation point over the battery logo. So I used the phone normally (again everything was perfect) until the phone naturally died. So I thought I would try again, I plugged it into a charger and the phone blinked on and showed the battery at 0%, the orange charging light came on, everything seemed normal. However about 5 seconds later the orange light started blinking and the 0% battery logo was replaced by a battery with an exclamation point over it. I took the phone apart again and made sure everything was connected properly. I am just wracking my brain because the battery was fine previously, and obviously the charging port was working (because the phone was turning on and recognizing that it had been connected to a charger) and the phone worked fine and discharged at a normal rate after fixing it. However I cannot get the battery to recognize that it is being connected to a power supply and charge up it seems. I just do not get it, any insight to this issue would be much appreciated! Thank you all!

Probably not what you want to hear but it probably needs opened back up. Sounds like part of the battery connection is loose or severed.

Hello, thanks for the reply. I actually have it apart now, and there is only one place where the battery connects to the phone, and since the battery was working (the phone was powered on) I assume it was connected properly however I do not know for sure. This is really annoying!
Same thing for me
I had my screen replaced by UbreakIfix and had a terrible experience, so bad that they refused to fix my phone when the screen broke again. I replaced my screen and the phone works and recognizes when the charger is plugged in but I have the same issues. Gray battery icon with exclamation and a flashing orange LED when plugged in. The charge has shown 27% and 33% but it won't charge. I tried wipe partition cache, factory reset, battery Calibration app, and the battery data wipe (holding power, volume up/down for 2 minutes) Whats left? I'm on a Verizon M8 running lollipop 5.0.1
