My guess he's not looking for that
but the opposite
Ad-hoc to a Laptop Wifi and use the Laptop Shared internet
i've tried using the wpa_supplcant from the "Oxygen v2.0-RC7 for desire" and it worked fine.
Attached you can find the file you need to do it.

Is that a flashable?
Sent from 1.5GHz CM7 Nexus S.
No, it isn't.
You need to extract the wpa_supplicant file and put it into the sdcard root folder.
The commands are the following:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/bin/
cp wpa_supplicant wpa_supplicant-ori (backup for rollback)
cp /sdcard/wpa_supplicant wpa_supplicant
p.s. Requirement:
Phone is rooted
Android SDK 2.3 on your computer
CyanogenMod Alpha 2 is pretty stable, and flashing it will allow you to easily connect to ad-hoc networks without any hassle. It's great for me since I use my Droid to provide wi-fi to it.
Thanks for this.
Wonder if it will work with 2.3.3?

i have backup wpa_supplicant (oroginal, nexus s - i9023)
What do you do after you get wpa_supplicant file swapped? Does it work automatically?
And at this point, how do you remove the old wpa_supplicant file? Because it keeps on saying it's read only I can't do anything to it. And there's no cp command in android shell. Please advise. Thanks.
Okay I got the wpa_supplicant file to work.
Now my question is how to get wpa_cli? Does anyone have this file? Or is this file create from wpa_supplicant? I want to be able to manually create a network rather than rely on my laptop to create ad-hoc network.
Thanks.

Rooted Nexus S?
Hello,
I have a Nokia N8 and have an app to set my phone as a wifi hot spot. My wife's phone cannot see it, but Iphones, Nokias, Laptops and desktops can find it.
Her phone is a Samsung Nexus S, carrier Mobilicity and I think Android 2.3.x
To use any of the apps posted - do I need to 'root' the phone? Currently it is not rooted.
And how do I do that? Or do I need to?
(yes, I watched the hateful video and feel like a loser)

[Q] Can I give an app superuser status?

Hi all,
I posted this in another forum, but I still need help
Been using SPC (Super Private Conversation) for a while, been working good.
Now that my phone has been rooted to CM6.1.0-DS, SPC has not been working that good. The filtering is not working properly.
Maybe if I try to give this app superuser status, it will perform better or does anyone know of any app that can replace this SPC on my rooted Dream?
Thanks
Heeter
It probably flat out doesn't work with your current phone or rom. I've never installed this app but it doesn't mention su rights and so I don't think it would make a difference.

Loop Device support sense 3.5

Hi guys. Sorry if this has been mentioned before now but I really like using sense 3.5 but I would also like to be able to boot ubuntu. I had it running great between my phone and tablet via WiFi hotspot and vnc server/viewer. I recently flashed Endymion v1.1 and it doesn't support loop devices so I am unable to have sense 3.5 and ubuntu :-( any hints tips or can anyone point me in the right direction of a suitable alternative Rom/kernal?

Use terminal emulator - something like mount /sdcard/whatever.iso /mountpoint. If it says can't detect filesystem, try using the switch -o loop.
Thanks for your reply. I'm not to bad with Linux and command line but could you put what you said in a step by step with this post in mind

Would love to get this up and running along with sense. Would be my perfect phone then.
Thanks again in advance.

this will work on any android device right?
EDIT: lol woops, my bad... barely read the topic right....
I paid for this app and have been using it for months on a Samsung Galaxy S3, however I updated to 4.3 and the APP runs on my phone but fails to connect on my pc. Are there any updated ADB rivers for 4.3? I have also run this app on other android devices without any trouble and its worked fine. Thanks in advance guys, any help with this will be very much appreciated

[Q] Dsploit help please!

i have tried searching the forums but didn't find the answer and i have tried all over Google so my final decision was to make a new thread.
i have trouble with dsploit because i can see my phone, my network gateway/router and network subnet mask but i cannot see my PC. there was a thread on this site and the answer to the problem simply was that it is is a know issue and it will be fixed. but surely it is fixed now right? please can someone say if there is a solution, but simply as i am a complete noob
Odp: [Q] Dsploit help please!
Well if the pc is not using wifi then imo theres no option to hack it since dsploit hacks are based on WiFi (arp hacking i believe. Im going to confirm it and post back but im 90% sure im correct
