HTC USB driver help

Hey everyone, I'm a bit of a noob, so please bear with me. I'm trying to install the HTC USB drivers, so that I could root my device. Problem is, when I download them and follow the instructions to install them, windows comes up with an error that says they could not be installed. Anyone have a work around? Thanks!

Retry after a few minutes or hours or try to connect in a different time. Most of the time, their server is difficult to connect to when setting up. Experienced this on stock rom.
Thanks but I can go to other HTC hub pages like wallpapers... Any possibility that it might do with my custom Rom or root?

It has nothing to do with your rom. It is your wifi connection's/3G problem. I live in singapore and I cannot connect to the htc hub with my own network. After that, I tried connecting to the Internet via my bro's tether and everything works. Don't bother ringing htc, they'll probably tell you to send your phone down.

There are plenty of threads in the development section to help you with this.
When I rooted my phone i was also confused because my phone restarts like 10 times and i was so confused what to do so the only thing you can do is wait and if it doesn't solve your problem then try another usb port and if it doesn't work then you might have to try in another system or laptop

If you haven't touched it yet (software/ROM wise) use your warranty if the phone is still on it.

I have HTC Butterfly X920d with Android 4.3 stock ROM, no root, S-ON, locked bootloader. I can't connect to PC. I plug the USB cable in the devices and nothing happens. The phone is charging but no message for connection to PC, neither on the PC. Nothing. Put the One X+ with the same cable into the same USB and everything works. Please help me
Have you tried turning on USB debugging in settings?
