[Q] Problem Loading SHOWCASE EB11 - Cellular South Froyo Update by:phidelt82 - Samsung Mesmerize

I am trying to install the SHOWCASE EB11 - Cellular South Froyo Update and every time it loads the modem.bin it fails. I have even tried to load EB16 Mesmerize Odin & Pick-n-Pack ROM and having the same issue.
Anyone have any solutions or suggestions for this?
Thanks

Why are you trying to load both a mes and showcase file?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

Well I tried the showcase ROM and it fail so I just tried the mes ROM to see of it would work.
I was just wondering if there was a way to totally scratch the device like you can a blackberry with jl_cmder?

There are no odin files to reset back to stock for the showcase yet. This is why it is stressed that you read before you do anything. I'm sure one of the devs can attempt to help you out but this takes away from them being able to create new things.

Oh its no big deal, the device I bricked wasn't the device I use. It was an extra one I use as a guinea pig. Was just wondering if there was a way to fix it.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

Is there a way to just scratch the phone or just format it completely?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

You might be able to use odin files for the Mesmerize to at least get it working.

Did you have any luck getting your showcase to get past the modem bin load?

Is that a problem?

Yeah when the guy's only four posts are in this thread so he clearly doesn't come around and probably isn't going to answer your question.

It was worth a try.

Voodoo lagfix kernel for I897UCKB1

Guys:
Don't follow any instruction to flash this kernel on your captivate running official froyo I897UCKB1. I tried all advices and ended up bricking my phone. Luckily the unbricking method you can find.in xda saved me. But, i had to flash.back to JF6 (2.1 eclair stock) using odin3 and then went back to kies mini to get the official froyo. I am writing this for people who like to use stock froyo instead of any.custom roms. I had to waste my time because.some.people suggested a few methods without knowing it for sure. Most suggestions are great in this forum (thats how i used serendipity.for a while). But, some or one of the bad suggestions can brick your phone real bad. So, ask as many questions as possible before going with a suggestion you see. Preferably look at how to videos. If there are none out there. Then, WAIT!

Then xda should remove the link for "how to unbrick" link. Brick is of two types. Soft and hard. What you mean is hard. What I meant b was soft. But, even soft.can cause serious issues. Post a video if you can. That will help a lot.

I did the sgs kernel flasher method. Heard voodoo voice prompts at reboot. In the end it said "lagfix deleted". I saw the same stock kernel after that. So, what am I missing. I did everything as suggested. Didn't miss anything. I think there is something missing here. SERIOUS. I HAVE ROOTED, FLASHED CUSTOM ROMS BEFORE. I think this is.crazy.

[ROM][EC01] Evil Fascinate ver. 3.1 and 3.3 Fixed for Mesmerize

I made the edits for this to use on EC01 mesmerize.
Per the norm, I am not responsible if you jack your phone up trying to use this. I have done nothing to this other then edit it per dfgas's instructions to use on my Mez.

You also need an EC10 source Kernel
sent from my SFC+FIX, EC01, voodoo enabled, Samsung Mesminate.
OK... So, let me get this straight... This is what I need to do to flash this:
1. Disable Voodoo
2. Flash the stock Mesmerize EC10 image
3. Flash the EC01 radio using Odin (Flash it to where? PDA? Phone?)
4. Flash the Evil 3.3 rom
I feel like there's something missing here, or is there a kernel built-in?
Flash the radio to pda in ODIN.

Go to settings>applications. Choose app that is FC, and clear data. Email and keyboard need to have this done or they willcontinuously force close.

Go to > settings> applications > manage applications. Select all apps tab. Find app that is force closing. Select it and then clear data. One this is done it should stop force closing. Email and keyboard did it to me. Cleared data and no more problems.

[Q] help, digital roaming....

Ok, first off, i'm pretty sure this is all my fault, i recently rooted my mez and everything was great was running the h57 rom and was happy, then i was shown the cm7 mod and of course wanted to try it, no problems with the flashing it loaded up, but i had no internet etc. so i decided to go back now i thought i followed the steps properly(obviously i was wrong) but when i got back to h57 the only way i had a network was to roam, now i'm back to the stock build and still facing the same problem, any help would be appriciated

Help Needed! Possibly hard bricked Sgs4G

So I had GB bootloaders and 2.3.4 installed on it. I was browsing through the forum and really liked Raver's Redux rom, but totally blacked out i have to change bootloaders back to Froyo ( still no idea how to ). So my phone got into a bootloop. The problem is, i tried to flash the phone back to GB rom, and was doing it using ODIN, and brother plucked the usb cable off during the flashing process. Now everytime i try to turn it on, it has a yellow triangle that says" Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. PLease select recovery mode in KIes and try again. " Tried Kies, no use. The same screen appears when i try to get into a download mode, tried usb jig . same screen. WHat should i do from here? i am out of ideas.
OK, i flashed Stock GB rom with Odin, even the dwld mode didn't appear on phone screen, but ODIN read it and i got a connection in with it. Now its on a bootloop again. It goes into the recovery menu (3e). Says E:Failed to mount /data (INvalid Argument). What should i do from here??? THanks
NVM , I got it working now But i still want that Redux rom My question is : how do i get back to Froyo Bootloaders? A specific instruction would be really helpful, what to tick and not on ODIN , etc... Thanks
Flash kd1 or Odin ravers kc1 with all 4 files. You'll have the froyo bootloaders. There at guides out there if you search. I'm in my phone, so I can't link then. Sorry.if you have trouble, let me know and I'll walk you through it

Rooting Samsung Sgh-I896 on Rogers in canada

Hey everyone
I have been tiring to look up how to root my Samsung SGH-I896 that is on Rogers in Canada but have haven't been able to find and think that matches my phone info. I will list my firmware and other info if some can point me in the right way that would be nice.
Model = SGH-I896
Frimware = 2.3.3
Kernel version = 2..35.7-i896uxkh2-cl296008
Build number = GINGERBREAD.UXKH2
Thanks
I have the same phone and believe me it's not as easy as it is for the us users. Rogers actually takes code off the phone so that it's harder to root or unlock. I had to factory reset and use an at&t software instead of Rogers. After that everything was easy. Use one click root or anything like it
Sent from my SGH-I897 using Tapatalk 2
I dont recall having any issues with rooting my phone back in the day. I recall being able to use superoneclick to get the job done on stock gingerbread.
Although if you are planning on installing a rom on your phone then root isnt required. Just flash CWM and then flash a rom. The roms come with root already installed on it.
I have tried super oneclick and it hang up at step 7 but maybe iam doing something wrong. I will try again later tonight. Thanks alot guys

I have the rogers version, I've unlocked it to use Koodo as a provider and have also installed CM10 (runs beautifully!). They are the same phone, ours just does not say at&t at the top of it (Samsung instead). I never bothered with rooting, which was a waste of time anyhow... move on from Gingerbread and you wont look back, I swear!

So I'm a total newbie here... so I don't have to root to get ICS or JB on my Captivate with Rogers? How exactly? I looked at the Heimdall method, but I still don't really understand.

I used Superoneclick with both Froyo and Gingerbread stock Rogers versions and it rooted just fine. Just need to follow the instructions.
I think for Froyo you had to do some really stupid stuff, like plug it in and take it back out 2-3 times but other than that it always worked great.
Worked so well I even made a donation to the developer.
If it hangs on you, I would suggest reading the thread to see if somebody developed a method that works. My Froyo image wouldn't root so I read the Rogers captivate thread and somebody posted telling me how to unplug and plug it back in, worked well.
I think I might have screwed up... I installed the unzipped ROM onto my external SD rather than the zipped one... what do I do now???

In that recovery go to mounts and storage. Then select mount usb. Then u can copy from ur pc to ur phone.
