I have been seeing a recent trend lately so I thought this may help.
How to Search XDA Forms
If you are a noob, or if you just have a general question and you are feeling a little too lazy to read through other forms then this is what you do before you start a new thread about your problem.
(99% of the time your problem has already been talked about)
XDA App Search Feature
For the XDA app go to the °more° tab and click on the little eye glass and simply type in your question or some key words of the problem you are having.
XDA-Developers Website
This may be a little more difficult but stick with me. There is a bar that says search, type in your question or key words of your question and see if you can find what you are looking for. Now for the advance users look around for a topic that you have a question about in the respected form area (I.E. development or Q&A) and search key word of your problem and search that form for your answer
Recommended method you can read the form in its entirety!
Hope this helps and it’s not meant to be rude it’s a noticeable problem.
Probably will be ignored by those who need this most but thank you for saying it.

Clearly someone who is new wont even consider a search button, but nice nice try.

Hey you never know!
Thats how most forums are, so either get used to it or dont come lol. I don't think I've ever seen a tech forum that wasn't inundated with the same question over and over.

That's not necessarily true. I came from the Evo 4g and the forums over there tended to be pretty clean with that stuff. The mods were all over the forums and older users helped the new users on how to search. I don't know what the Evo forums were like when the evo first launched but at least now there isn't much of the same BS that is running rampant over here.

Knowledge is power bro! These forms will be what we make them if we let people post non-since then we will always have that problem. I am also not dumb enough to think multiple questions will not ever happen.
i take the most issue with the app. it doesn't allow the searching of a forum or a thread... it searches ALL of xda for your terms... which is useless... you might make a few searches work, but over all what you need to a search of the forum you're viewing... i mean i could really care less about the rooting issues on a WP7 device when i'm trying to search for SGS3 info...
but over all the search on the website is stellar

While I agree worth your point, its frustrating not being able to use 'search this thread'in the app, you do know you can limit it to categories at least right? For example you could specify to search just the Verizon SG3 forums instead of all of xda.

OK yea I have to agree with that the app could use a couple more features. Its pretty solid though.

This would be helpful but I don't have any search options on the app, it always searches all of xda

I'll try to see if a moderator can get me contact with an XDA guy to address this and see if they will work it into an update.

Isn't the app a version of tapatalk? Go to the more button, do the search and there should be 'advanced options' where you select the forums...

I'm not seeing that on the free version. Once I do a search, all I can do is scroll down those search results. I can't click "More" as its occupied by the search.

Then they'll have to update their app. You can do that with the full tapatalk app.

perhaps i'll just start using the tapatalk app... i don't browse any other forums on my phone so it never made sense, but if it will improve search functions then i'll switch
thanks for the info

If you do go to purchase it choose your color first. What I mean its if you want one of the ICS compatible colors those are separate apps. It's the same functionality you just have to buy the theme separate. But you don't need the original tapatalk to make the themes work. Make sense?
It's would be nice if the search feature was built into the application better. Is it possible to search a specific forum rather than the entire xda?

With Tapatalk, not with the XDA-Developer app
A perk for not being cheap and supporting the site.

Does anyone else have issues with mobile version of xda stopping unexpectedly when trying to click on view original thread in news topics? I have the issue no matter what I try, I get error message and xda closes. The only workaround I have come up with is to click on the author of OP and view their threads, kind of a pain in the ass. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Side note I am not sure if this issue exists on the full Site.

I'm not having this issue but if you mention it in the following thread, you should be able to get some assistance - XDA Android App - Problems / Bugs / Feature Requests etc.
I'm a product of the system I was born to destroy!
Sir, please do a search before posting and read the stickys provided. See link provided above for a better understanding:
Thank You.

I always wanted to try Google Now but being stuck on Gingerbread... left me with no choice.
I know XDA has their Google Now project for ICS but I am not even on ICS.
I was however able to find a really good Google Now Alternative called Maluuba. It is works like Siri and Google Now combined. It will remind you about your upcoming appointments and other stuff. You can also use your voice and ask Maluuba to set an appointment, check the weather and even check movie showtimes.
It can do a lot of things and urge all you to check it out. To learn more about the app, go to the following:

Well.. I feel that the app was really good and deserved to put out there..
I am glad someone else out there thinks the same way
(I was unaware that there was another thread about this)
Your response doesn't justify a repost. A thread was already created about this app. If you like it so much, reply in the original thread. You know how many useless threads we could avoid if people just used the search button before posting?

I am sorry mate but at the time of this thread posting... I didn't know that there was another thread.
The app actually added a few more features now...so its actually a siri alternative as well
Hello all,
I have an idea that I would like to present to Google. I believe this is a revolutionary idea, and want to to share it with them so that they can use it thoroughly. I have searched and searched but to no avail. I have been looking for a way to present my idea to Google either in person or digitaly. Does anyone have any pointers? Or a place I could start at?
I'm fairly sure this is the right place to post this... Sorry if I'm wrong...
Thanks!
Anyone?

i had a quick look for you and its as expected, youll have to go on their individual websites and follow their instructions...
for exmaple...

sharing apk's are something frowned upon by google and recent updates are doing their best to protect developers and their hard work.
