Ok again to my SMS problem:
I have made some tests, If I falsh the Finnland rom just like it is, and write a sms with more than 160 chars it works perfekt!
Then I restore SenseRom v0.1 and I don't can send SMS larger then 160 chars.
Can you please find out, which file i need to add to the Sense /System/ ???
That the SMS works like in the Stock Rom?
I already tried to install an other MMS.apk --> Same Problem SMS Less than 160 chars works perfekt --> SMS larger than 160 chars, only the first Part arrive...
Please help me, i need to send long SMS...
Its just a problem with the rom
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
And how can i fix it?
Use a different messenger or just wait for updates on the rom

Download root explorer from the market.
Download an mms.apk from one of the roms floating around the development section.
change permissions in root explorer to all boxes checked.
move to /system/app
it will say one exists just replace it.
reboot and your done
Wait ... but i think that is exactly the same i already did...
I only make permission:
r w
r
r
but i do it like your way
Ok it don't Work it is the same, only short SMS work! I take the MMS.apk from:
JBoogie3BlurlessGingerFroyo4Deblur
Was that right?
I searched a little bit in the Internet and find out:
The MMS.apk isn't important for sending SMS, there is a Film called SMSMessanger.java this has the code in it for the SMS sending... Could there be a mistake in the Rom?

Hi everybody. I'm italian, sorry for my bad english, I'm studying it and I haven't a perfect proficiency, and sorry if I put my thread in the wrong category. XD I've got a "little" problem with my Samsung Galaxy Y Pro...
I accidentally deleted mms.apk from /system/apps, and I don't know how to resolve this problem. I tried to use a substitute like "ICS Messaging Pro", but in absence of this file, the incoming messages aren't visualized, and I see them only one time, through "Popup Notifications".
Now, I found a mms.apk modded, but it's not for my phone, and it crashes every time I receive an sms, but now it saves the incoming messages in "ICS Messaging Pro".
Is there anybody that can send me mms.apk for my telephone?
I've got Gingerbread 2.3.6
Version of the firmware: B5510XXKK2
You can try go sms, handcent sms or any of those apks and it should work, if not, or if you still want the original apk, try asking for it in phone's forum, any user can pull it using adb or root explorer and give it to you... if that's the way, you'll have to push it into /system/app using adb or root explorer and setting permissions... but as I said, you can try another app like the ones I've mencioned avobe
Idk, I saw that without this file every messaging app I install gives the same problem: They don't save the incoming messages. I must wait for mms.apk ...

Video editor is ok.
Flash player doesn't work at all (solved by installing normally..in facts why do I have to prefer this instead of the default apk?)
Message.apk FIXED THE 80 CHAR problem
BUT asks me SENDER everytime! :/
Also it doesn't bring back imported sms (i suppose because it is not the default app).
Anyway to solve these problems? (or to modify the MMS.apk in the same way you did for the custom LG app?)
thanks!

Lol the entire sys dir untouched given the similarity of these devices and considering it's the only omap4 lg device that has official ics outside korea.
Just have to download and install the apk or what ?
Guys, I'm on ported ICS from XBSALL and I've installed defcomg's modified apk for the messages.
I also tried using Go SMS Pro too.
The issue here is that all my messages are always cut due to the character encoding and the recipients never get them correctly.
Do you guys know where I can change the properties to use such characters like çãéíóúêî for example? These are present in the portuguese charset.
Have you tried any custom roms?
Maybe this ROM will solve your problem..
Sent from my P920 using ICS 4.0.4 by XBSA
I did, and no luck so far.
Will flash XBSALL's new one and try again.
That ROM you pointed out doesn't provide me with a lot of confidence about it, so I will skip it. A friend of mine tried it and he regret flashing it, the word he used was "crap".

omgomg, any luck solving the sms problem?
Hi guys
I believe the problem lies in the lgtelephonyprovider.apk, i tried replacing with the l9 one but it fc.maybe try the prada one.also decompiled both l9 and ics port but dnt know how to edit the smali files.that is what is forcing every msg app to only send 80 characters.

I did, only a few days ago...
I don't know what exactly solved it, but it is somehow related to this thread.
So, step by step what I did: (DO NOT FORGET TO CORRECTLY SET THE PERMISSIONS FOR ALL THE FILES MENTIONED!!!)
1. Copied over Message.apk to the /system/app folder [Permission 644]
2. Copied over LGContacts3.apk [Permission 666] and LGContacts3.odex [Permission 666] to the /system/app folder
3. Copied over featureset.xml to the /system/etc folder [Permission 644]
4. Shutdown the phone.
5. Remove and then reinsert the battery
6. Install Go SMS Pro and never again use the stock message application.
7. And then it worked!
Before I fully shutdown the phone, my Contacts and Phone shortcuts disappeared. Possibly clearing the cache and dalvik could have helped, but I didn't remember doing that.
I installed Go Contacts to solve it meanwhile.
Do not forget to backup your original message.apk and lgcontacts3.apk before you do this, just in case.
I still can't send or receive MMS but I believe it is somehow bad APN configuration, I will have to look into that.
I did something similar, deleted the original message application, installed a modded one (turned its notification off) installed hand cent and selected as per the screen shot (Mms works as well) Settings - Send message settings - Split 160. It sends 2 (or 3) messages for long ones but it's the only way they will send, anything longer than 160 just won't send with out selecting the split option.

I don't want to take credits for this, but i don't remember which one of the posts really helped. I just know that this is the files that worked for me, because i remember i tried some options but this is the only one that works.
- Copy featureset.xml to /systm/etc, replace.
- Rename featurset.xml.txt to featurset.xml
- Copy Mms.apk to /system/app, replace if needed.
- Reboot.
I hope it helps and don't bother anybody.
thanks that worked. i installed darkroom v2 and it had this problem as did xperia rom, but this worked thanks!!!
I can't post in the development section so I post my problems here, sorry for that.
I flashed @Omar-Avelar's ROM over stock JB EU firmware but the 4.2 AOSP SMS app doesn't seem to be working for me. After I replaced it with deoxed Motorola's messaging.apk(deleted mms.apk and MmsDependencies.apk in /system/app/ in Omar ROM and set -rw-r--r--/644 permission for the newly copied Moto's messaging.apk at the same place) SMS could work again. Can anyone tell me whether my text messages were sent successfully according to the screenshot? Surely I never received any incoming messages as you see.
I really love the looking and some convenient features of the 4.2 AOSP SMS app but what should I do to have it work
BTW: In this ROM, Google voice search crashes when opened from either Google search widget or app drawer.

It's known issue. Some of people have problems with AOSP SMS app. If you read the whole thread with Omar's ROM you can find something about it. Nobody knows why does this problem appears.

Thanks for the information, I'll look further into it.
Has anyone got to the bottom of this yet? I have just installed Omar's latest ROM (3rd June) and I cannot receive texts. I tried installing shaftenberg's 'no limit' messaging mod instead but I cannot find the app - my old shortcut says app not installed and I cannot find it in launcher. The messaging.apk definitely exist because I can find it in root explorer or titanium backup. I know Omar gas hidden it somehow but nit sure how.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I really don't want to go back to the stock jb with moto blur. Thanks

You should have new shortcut in the list of apps. And try to search mms.apk or mmsdependencies.apk in your file explorer, that should be messaging .apk.
