Have you tried using google voice? There is an sms option, it's in browser though so I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.

An SMS is an SMS. It doesn't matter which method is used to send it, the recipient will receive it on whatever phone they own. As mentioned above you can send it via IM, Website..etc.
Doesn't Skype have this ability?

What he's saying is that he wants a slice of the free cake I guess.
He wants to be able to send something (which costs the network operator money to send it to someone else) for free.
I guess there's nothing like that for you, sir.
I do know that certain network operators in my region (Singtel, Starhub of Singpaore and Maxis, Digi of Malaysia) allow customers to connect to their website and send a WebSMS from their own sites but there is a certain limit a day. However, this only applies to SMS sent to their customers who are on their communication network though.
maybe you can try textplus. Search for it on Market because the system doesn't allow me to post outside link 'cause i'm new user try it!
Im looking for something like text plus but in this app I can send a free sms only to usa and canada. Im looking for something what will work in UK

We know what he's asking and he's already been told how! Several times with many different methods.

I just got an invite to the Vonage Mobile app this weekend from a friend of mine. I get a bunch of invites for different apps from friends, but got told to download this because it has free calls to any US or Canadian number. I tried the MagicJack app earlier for free US calls and the quality was pretty bad.
It looks like its using VoIP for calling and they have a peer to peer service for free calls between other users. Looks like it has texting too with photo sharing.
Has anyone used this app? Is it really free to call? Seems like a lot in one app, but wondering about the free US calls....
Not tried Vonage, but Skype and Viber will do the job, just uses either Wifi or data allowance, but calls are free.

Hi guys,
My name is Tzahi and I work at Vonage mobile development center.
Yes, in addition to free app-2-app calls with great audio quality (and messaging - including photo & location sharing), we offer, for a limited time, free calls to any number in the US, Canada or Puerto Rico.
Why don't you give it a try and let us know what you think?
If you have any questions or comments, I'll be happy to assist.
Enjoy our app!
Tzahi Efrati
I was looking at the Verizon Messages app, and it sounds interesting, but I wanted to verify some things.
I read that you need to subscribe to get integrated messages to text from a tablet, is this free?
Can I send text messages from a tablet for free without integrated messages(assuming they cost money)?
I have unlimited texting with my current plan if that makes a difference.
Thank you in advance,
