I really dislike typing out ADB commands. I'm sure some of you feel the same. This program combines some of the most common tasks we perform with ADB and automates them for you.
Where is Recovery Flasher?
All the features are built into this program. I have decided to expand this program's functionality.
Features Explained
Flash ROM - Place a ROM in the 'ROM' folder renamed rom.zip. Hit enter and the zip will get flashed to your phone automatically
Flash Recovery - Will help you flash a recovery to your phone. For the Optimus V users, it will help you install all the needed drivers as well as obtain root privileges. Optimus T, S, and One phones will be able to flash a recovery.
Wipe dalvik-cache - Self explanatory .
Mount /system r/w - Allows read/write access to /system
Push ROM to SD card - Self explanatory (pushes to root of sd)
Push framework-res.apk - Pushes framework-res.apk to /framework, wipes dalvik-cache, and reboots the phone for you.
Push bootanimation.zip - Will remove boot animation and replace with one of your choice. (removes from /data/local as well as /system/media)
Reboot - Reboot
Reboot into Recovery - Obv.
Recoveries
CWMA v1.2518.4 for V and S
drellisdee's Recovery for T and One (thread with dl link will open automatically)
Recovery Instructions
- Download
- Unzip the folder somewhere (desktop is easy)
- Double click RecoveryFlasher.exe
- Choose 'flash recovery'
- Place your phone in debug mode >setting>applications>development>USB debugging
- Choose what you want to do
- Follow the prompts and hit "any" key when told
- Your phone will reboot into the recovery for you, and from there you can mount your sdcard and transfer a new ROM to flash. Or even easier, use the new "Flash ROM to phone" feature
You're responsible for your own actions Mr. Sister

FAQ
Can I use this with a different recovery?
-Yes. Any recovery can be used for the supported devices.
-To use an alternate recovery for the V or S, rename the new recovery to vrecovery.img and replace the 'vrecovery.img' included with the new one.
-For the Optimus One, the recovery needs to be named grecovery.img.
I don't understand the version numbers. Why did some numbers get skipped?
-First digit represents a huge change. Second represents new features. Third represents a bug fix
-2.3.1 = Second huge update with 3 feature revisions and one bug fix

This is a great program! I'm surprised nobody else has jumped on this. It's nice not to have to ADB the hell out of your phone.

Hi, is this meant specifically for the LG line of phones? Or any brand?
this will help when someone steals your keyboard or cuts off your fingers. or both.
i sense the end of all the thousands of adb for noobs threads.
Dual boot HD2
Are there any similar tools out there for 'winmo'? would be great to be able to this on both my devices.
Hey mmmark, looks like my bump got your thread noticed. You were featured on the main page of XDA yesterday!

Hey,
Versions supported for colormod :
MAGIC/HERO/DREAM - 1.6.2 (Waiting for 1.7 sources )
Nexus - 1.7
cliq - 1.6.2
Desire - 1.6.2
Versions supported for noncolormod :
All recoveries, even koush's except you wont see the difference cuz he never calls on the png's
Thanks to amon_ra for his recovery and thanks to all those he thanked
Script is based on the dev kitchen by dsixda. I removed everything that was not needed for this task.
Requirements : Device drivers properly installed
Windows Operating System
Instructions :
1. Download the 7z file and extract.
2. You will get 3 folders and 2 batch files.
3. Run either batch.
INFO:
Noncolormod just allows you to change background image and progressbar
Colormod batch does what the noncolormod does + allows you to customize the colors inside the recovery
Guys 2 tips :
1. If image is layered please flatten it in photoshop or edit in paint.
2. Use this tool to configure a range of colors. Just grab the decimal values and feed in the script.
FYI: This will not work with Koush's recovery as he ignores the background png
PS : Donot ask for assitance from amonra if you are using the repackaged recovery image produced by this script. He WILL ignore u
PS : I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU ARE NOT CAPABLE OF FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS. I EXPECT A DECENT LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING/TECHNICAL ABILITIES FROM THOSE WHO ARE USING THIS SCRIPT.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Update
*Added menu with additional properties
*Can now flash/boot recovery from menu
*Added option for size check
*Allows customization of progressbars
*Keyboard-console fixed for G1 users
*Text-color customization
*Updatescript color customizable
*ProgressBar height adjustable
*A LOT MORE STABLE
*Thanks to amonra no more trackball issues should occur on Hero
----------------------------------------------------------------
Future Updates Expected:
Will bring this to the droid, cliq and desire
Will try to see what else i can make user-optional

No, only pushing files for the moment.
Wow k so im confused. I dont have the device but i saw the source up on his github and this video and assumed you guys also have a working amon-ra recovery.
So upon further reading, you guys have that step2-windows.bat file to run which loads amonra's recovery ? Any way for those asking, all you have to do is place "any" recovery image under /recovery/old and place 2 images under place-image-here named boot.png and boot1.png and run nocolormod.bat file. If you want to edit the colors by running colormod, make sure the recovery image you place under /recovery/old is amonra's recovery. For how-to help, run the batch file and select "How-to"
please...how to flash recovery image?
...help me please.
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Hey, im reading up on it. Im reading this and "essentially" he reboots into recovery through fastboot screen and then runs
adb shell nohup /sbin/recovery &
to bring up the menu. I did not realize it was this complicated for desire recovery. I thought its similar to nexus.
As for flashing, in my script i give the option of choosing boot/flash. You can try those, i doubt itll work on desire now tht i think about it.
Daneshm90 for the moment, the recovery for Desire is write protected, we can't change it to another custom recovery, at the moment, we only can launch it from red triangle recovery mode pushing files and using the command that you say.

This should work
Script updated!

Any bug?
Can't wait to try it. What exactly does this script? I mean how it is working
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
It works like that:
-It makes the BackupMarket folder in C:\
-It copies the com.android.vending-1.apk (which is in /data/app/ and this file could not exist!) in the phone to the C:\BackupMarket folder
-It copies the file Vending.apk (whic is in /system/app/ this file exist in every devices) from the device to C:\BackupMarket
-It copies the com.android.vending-1.apk (whic is included in the script) to the /data/app/ directory into the device
-It copies the file Vending.apk (whis is included in the script) to the /system/app/ directory in the device
-The script will reboot the phone.
This is how it works, if you wants the source-code, don't hesitate to contact me in PM or at [email protected]

Doesn't work for me - creates the directory and then sits there, doing nothing. No files copied. Debug is on, USB Storage off (also tried with it on). Unarchived and ran ADB in archive with "devices" - nothing shows as connected so that's probably why.
Will try again at home where I did the original root - maybe ADB is not working here. Will update later.

You have no ADB Drivers in your PC. I'm 100% sure of that, and now I will explain to you why is that:
The script controls that your phone is connected to the PC and that is correctly running with ADB. If the phone isn't working fine with ADB the script will NOT run until the phone is correctly running with ADB.
In english, that means that your ADB Drivers aren't installed properly
Let me know if the script works on your main PC

Yes, and I figured that out after awhile and tried to install them but was unsuccessful. I tried it again on the home PC (Vista64) where I had previously installed the SDK and it appeared to start but not finish - after showing the transfer statistics, it basically just stopped.
I did see activity on the phone, but not a full reboot. When I looked at the market however, it had definitetly updated it and it was working great. With the script still active and the phone connected, I did a manual reboot. At that point the script declared the update a success.
So guess the only thing it missed was doing a full cold reboot.
The new market looks and works great - thanks so much for putting this together for noob hackers like myself. In addition to making it easy, looking at the syntax of the script taught me a few things. Cheers!

- Updated Superuser to v3.0.6
- Root / Unroot from CWM recovery
- More options added to CWM recovery (backup to internal sd supported, for the guys who got 16GB internal memory );
- Busybox can be installed now over the minimal BB already provided.
- Fixed backup of ".android_secure" instead of whole of internal sd card.
- use "bootanimation.zip" instead of "sanim.zip"
- More features which I don't recollect as of now . Find and let me know.
If you have just reinstalled the new PDA over the old version (that means if your ROM version is still the same e.g. XXKPQ), then the settings are not regenerated. You need to perform the following steps, in order for the new settings to be in effect:
Code:
adb shell
# sysrw ; rm -rf /system/cfroot/ ; sysro
# reboot
Changelog: (moved to 2nd post)
It is intentional in this recovery to NOT backup the whole internal sdcard. Wipes should not be touching the sdcards (internal & external). Only the ".android_secure" [The apps you install/move to SD card], should be backup up and restore should work fine. Please report in case you observe any issues.
Attached you will find the CWM ... just flash with ODIN selecting in the PDA source the CWM file. Also you can find the version to flash from CWM Manager app.
Restart the phone (if things are not working as desired after first reboot)!!!
Also, since the Superuser version is updated, do the following steps:
- Goto [Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Superuser] and "Clear Data". ***
*** This is because the earlier versions permissions conflict with the newer version.
P.S.: Please contact me via PM if you find anything inappropriate here
Just press "Thanks" if you like my work...!!!
Changelog:
(2011-11-24)
- Updated Superuser v3.0.7
- Advance Backup support individual partitions
- Added "Reboot Download" option
- Some other minor fixes in restore
(2011-12-01)
- Added more options in TweakManager app
- Various tweak values in "00tweaks" has been optimized
- Lot of fixes in base CF-Root
- Fixed: sysrw & sysro working
- Fixed: bootanimation.zip compatibility
- Extra version includes param.lfs for using custom boot logo (instructions on next post)
(2011-12-17):
- Updated CWM Manager v3.0 application
- Fixed few bugs for recovery mode.
- Root/Unroot actually works now
- RFS <--> EXT4 conversion addon application added
(2012-02-01):
- CWM Touch recovery
- various improvements in CF-Root
- New: Overclock Kernel (with 6 OPPs) [Inspired by: DooMLoRD, XDA_Bam, and other wonderful devs. ]
- Fixed: RFS <--> EXT4 conversion addon application
The custom boot logo works like this:
1) After flashing the extra version, logo.jpg is not available initially. Hence you see garbled screen.
2) However, this version enables the ability to copy your custom boot logo.jpg to "/mnt/.lfs/" folder. (you can use Root Explorer to do this by mounting it R/W first)
3) After placing your custom logo.jpg, reboot and then you should see your own boot logo.
Attaching the original logo.jpg, if you want to use the stock one.

Credits:
Original version created in the summer of 2011. Thanks to birbeck for the usual random java guidance, slushpupie for his previous java guidance, dodgejcr for extreme amounts of testing, and one_love_420 and shift for some great graphics!
testers: JT-, couga6442, happytweak and many others I might have forgot in the furry of three days I built the initial app from scratch!
Thanks to SDX
Requires:
Unlocked bootloader and root access!
Background:
flash_image (bmlwrite) is an extremely useful utility for flashing custom kernels, boot logos (so far ONLY Samsung devices) and recoveries. This binary has made it possible to easily flash all these items and is used almost everywhere behind the scenes (i.e. in custom recoveries, packaged into a kernel /sbin directory, included in custom ROMs, etc).
Description:
This android application, FlashImageGUI, is basically a GUI interface for the linux binary, flash_image provided by google in AOSP for loading custom kernels and recovery images onto the phone.
This app allows the flashing of kernels and custom recovery images in normal android mode!
Current Device Support:
Full Kernel (Anykernel and boot.img) Flashing and Recovery (zip file or image) flashing: HTC One M8 (GSM), Moto G, Sprint Galaxy S4, International HTC One (M7), T-Mobile HTC One (M7), Sprint HTC One (M7), HTC EVO 4G LTE, HTC One S, HTC EVO 3D CDMA and GSM, HTC One XL, HTC Droid DNA, HTC Amaze, HTC Vivid/Holiday, HTC EVO 4G, HTC EVO Shift, Google Nexus 5, Google Nexus 4, Google Nexus 10, Google Nexus 7, Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S/Nexus S 4G & LG Optimus
Full Kernel, Logo and Recovery flashing: Samsung Moment, Transform, Intercept and Acclaim - the s3c6410 series of devices
Full Kernel (zImage) Flashing: Samsung Epic
Check application version for updates
Future Support:
Let me know if there are any issues. Feel free to post the encountered issue and a link to the exact file that was flashed. Thanks for the support!
Install Directions:
Install process is the same as any other .apk. Download to computer and adb push or mount sdcard on computer and copy over or download directly to the phone. Use any file manager, adb, connectbot/terminal emulator to install.
My preferred method, maybe a bit technical: ./adb install c:\downloads\FlashImageGUI.apk
Download Locations
Market (99 cents!): Flash Image GUI
Release version (free): Flash Image GUI
Contact:
Any questions, comments, concerns, or issues, please post in this thread or send me an email! Thanks for all the help and support!
FAQ:
Q: Will this app support a marketplace to pick and chose kernels from?
A: No.
Q: Can I flash nandroid kernel backups?
A: Yes. Rename the specific image to boot.img and select from inside of Flash Image GUI. **Make sure to also load the associated modules or WiFi might stop working!

Users Guide for flashing ONLY a Kernel (zip file):
1) Ensure the bootloader is unlocked and root access is properly setup
2) Make sure the selected Kernel is compatible with the currently loaded ROM. If not, this will result in a lot of frustration!!! See troubleshooting steps below.
3) Download kernel zip file to /sdcard.
4) Open Flash Image GUI, browse and select kernel zip file, downloaded/loaded to sdcard in previous step.
5) Flash Image GUI will validate that the kernel zip file contains the minimum required files
6) Select the Flash Image button and Flash Image GUI will load the kernel and the kernel modules from the source kernel zip file.
7) Reboot
Troubleshooting after Rebooting:
First step, when experiencing issues flashing is to RE FLASH the files again. Many times, re flashing again will clear up any issues. If not, see the issues/solutions below.
Issue #1: If the device hangs or reboots while on the splash screen, the kernel itself or the ramdisk packaged in the kernel is NOT compatible with your device!!!
Solution for #1: Have to boot into fastboot (or directly into the custom recovery) and load the custom recovery to flash a known good kernel or restore a previously known good nandroid backup. Command: fastboot boot c:\downloads\cwm-recovery.img
Issue #2: If the device hangs or reboots while on the boot animation, the ROM is likely NOT compatible with the kernel!!!
Solution for #2: Have to boot into fastboot and load the custom recovery to flash a known good ROM/kernel combination either from a zip file or restore from a nandroid backup.

I'm always interested in adding support for more devices to Flash Image GUI. In order to provide the highest level of service, I need a user knowledgeable with ADB and the custom recovery who can help test all the functionality. This process usually takes around an hour and I prefer to work in real-time as I can provide guidance throughout the process.
If you or somebody you know feel qualified to help, let me know and we can set up a time! Thanks for your support!

Hi guys,
Have you ever installed a mod without making a backup before? Did the mod break your system or was not working the way you expected? The only way to recover the system to the previous state was to restore an old backup and loose all new data.
Thanks to my mod, this won't happen again! I present to you "I Don't Want You!".
It means NO NEED TO ALWAYS MAKE BACKUP BEFORE INSTALLING A MOD!
How it works?
It creates update.zip containing apps changed by mod in comparison to stock system and deleting files added by the mod to our system.
What it does?
-creates update.zip
-signs the zip
-Additionally: pulls /system from the device (using adb) (you need to do that once before installing mods instead of unpacking system manually form FTF/.zip file)
Requirements:
-Windows
-.NET Framework 4.5 or higher
-files installed/changed by mod (the content of mod's .zip file without META-INF)
-Recovery installed on your Android device
-Rooted android device
-Java
Compatibility:
Every device and every Android build!
It does not fully support mods with AROMA Installer
Currently It works only with mods influencing /system.

Would you like a port of it?
Can the update.zip be flashed with stock recovery?
(Probably not, but I don't have my PC around to check )
Sent from my D620r [Stock 4.4.2]

Update.zip made by my tool should work on all recoverys using edify language. Please provide me an example of flashable zip for your recovery and I will check.
If It comes to porting the tool for linux, I need help in that matter as far as I am not using Linux and I haven't made any program for that system yet. Of course I will provide source code. Please contact me via PM. However you can try opening the tool with Wine. The ADB wont work but you can copy your /system manually and provide path to it in program.

Great job man!
Would you mind to put up kind of a noob tutorial with a brief description/explanation of what each option would exactly do?
...dont need to explain what the option "EXIT" will do though! Lol

Crashed
Looks like it copied /system but then failed at the last minute
Like jshare, crashed in last minute!
crashes during cleaning up process.....maybe add code to kill ADB and restart it before cleaning
@Vagelis1608
It should work
@ChazzMatt
Of course it doesn't! Currently it works only with /system mods.
@RMarques
The only options you need is:
1. For pulling system from your phone
2. To make update.zip (all other options are included in this one)
@jshare @Limac @Manvindar
Yeah, I forgot to add line for killing "adb" process in latest version, because I slightly rearranged whole code. I will upload fixed version in 10 min
UPDATE
I have uploaded fixed version!
