Just to verify, it works for me too. Nightly 8 and the audio fix.

Will we have to reflash this everytime we install a new nightly?

Are you guys running the Kernel that comes with the CM7 Nightly Ace Build - I flashed a Kernel that was supposed to fix CM7 for using with the Inspire without really trying to see if it would work without the fix?
I'll try the GPS / Audio fix ...

what kernal & radio are you all using? stock?

im so torn between cm7 and 2.3 or sense, what do you guys reccomend?

So what's the diference between this and the one in the dhd section and on clockwork?

id10terrordfw, did you just flash the nightly over the stock rom? sorry about all the noob questions but there are soo many roms, kernals and radio floating around, i just want to make sure whats the best combination for this awesome phone...thanks in advanced...

Wait...I thought we needed an Inspire kernel such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965208 .
So your saying you are running an Inspire on CM7 #8 stock kernel? All you did was flash that and then did not flash a kernel over it?
Also, are you still using the stock radio from the Hackerize kit?
Reason I ask is that I flashed hrkfdn's kernel over CM7 #7 with stock radio from Hackerize and I cannot get HSUPA.
If I flash CM7 #8 and do not flash a kernel, will I get the stock kernel? Thanks.

Now you no longer need to flash a separate kernel. Our kernel needs were recently merged after the source release and are natively supported now. You *will* need to flash this soundgps patch over each nightly for the time being as this has not been merged and may not since it messes with files the other dhd devices are dependant on.
HTC Inspire Clockwork Recovery * CM7(kang) * Eng S-Off

Is there a recommended radio for this Rom?

Stock radio per the hack kit. So long as you followed the instructions in the hack kit you already have it.

Yes, and since the sound fix isn't kernel related all you have to do is flash the audio fix turbonium posted. Overclocking is built into the stock kernel.

Read before flashing new radio combo

This is posted for info only. To those of you wishing to flash to the newest radio combo without flashing the new rom then you must (and must)
Flash the newest kernel that was released last night. This is directed mostly towards people still using sense roms with stock HTC kernels.
If you flash the new radio combo over some of the older HTC kernels you will get stuck at the white evo screen.
Also since this is being asked all over this forum...
There is nothing wrong with you HTC clock.
This is a issue on HTC side so don't wipe your phone expecting to fit it because it wont.
If you want that little animation then delete the widget. Add it back but this time do not select current location. Enter the name of your city I. Or the closest match and select it to solve the issue for now.
If you are running netarchys kernel then you may be OK but I would use the new kernel first.

and as it turns out, there is really no reason NOT to flash the newest rom, or some variant of it, since sprint re-integrated the numbering system for all evo HW versions as of this release
see www.goo.gl/grStG
I just updated without any issues. Booted perfectly fine. HW 0002
updated fine on cm6.1
To those that are successful post which kernel you are using so others will know.
The issue seems to be mostly on sense roms using some HTC kernels.
I personally flashed over netarchys kernel without issues.

Desire HD ROMs

I've found that you can flash some Desire HD ROMs to the inspire if you flash a compatible kernel over top of it.
I'm currently running Android Revolution HD on my Inspire (so far the only one I've tried, I haven't had any issues yet).
Here are the steps I used to do this:
- Copy ROM and Kernel to SDCard
- reboot into recovery
- Make a nandroid backup from Clockwork Recovery (I always make a backup just in case I need to go back)
- wipe data/cache in Clockwork
- flash ROM from Clockwork
- flash kernel from Clockwork
I used a Telus Desire HD kernel I found on the forums (same as Inspire) Sound and everything works.
I'll also attach the kernel I used for everyone to try it out.
Please report and other ROMs you have success or failure with so everyone can know what works.
EDIT: This isn't really needed anymore since the new source and kernels coming out support the Inspire. Just find a ROM that has the 1.72 kernel source and flash it, it should work as is.
I'm using Revolution HD that mike1986. posted in this this forum with no issues.
does CM7 work? I am scared to mess until I get an easy way to revert to stock like odin back to stock on the captivate. If someone knows an easy fail safe measure like the download mode on the captivate I would love to know then i will try anything!

[KERNEL] Stock Inspire 4G Kernel

Here's the stock Inspire 4G Kernel You can flash any DesireHD ROM, then flash this on top of the ROM to enable audio.
Basically, I just took the Telus kernel that's floating around here, and replaced the bcm4329.ko and boot.img with the ones from the stock ROM.
Happy flashing!
This is flashable with any desire hd? Does it have clean sound?

You should be able to flash this kernel with any DesireHD ROM. The sound quality is almost the same as the Telus kernel from what I remember.
I think the main problem with sound quality is compatibility between the ROM and the Kernel. Something is missing in the DHD ROMs that slightly degrades sound quality when used on an Inspire 4G. Hopefully someone figures this out soon
Oh ok. So what is gained from this kernel over the TELUS?

Honestly, I have no clue. Some people have said the Telus kernel is unstable for one reason or another so I figured why not just rip the kernel out of the stock ROM It might or might not be more stable
I haven't noticed any instability.

Clockwork Failing? help?

ok, so I picked up the Cappy tonight, did alot of reading,
PLEASE NOTE, I have a Rogers Galaxy S Captivate SGH-I896, On Froyo 2.2
I successfully rooted the device with superoneclick,
downloaded Rom Manager, Flashed Clockwork recovery for Galaxy S Captivate
Reboot to recovery, select re-install packages, FAILED Signature...and aborts,
What am I doing wrong here?
Is there a better method? Every guide I read said to do it with rom manager...do I need to flash the stock rogers GB with bootloaders? then retry clockwork again?

one question tho, while cm7 would install fine i initially tried to flash the ICS port by teamhacksung and it resulted in a bootloop, is there some step im missing? are someupdates only installable from internal sdcard?
You must be on a mtd based rom, which cm7 is, (touch wiz roms are bml based) before flashing to ics. U should be able to flash ics with no problem now.

Enjoy, it's quite different
Well, ics successfully flashed this time.
Only difference from my last attempt was I flashed a cm7 nightly instead of stable, also once on cm7 I flashed a newer radio as well as the glitch kernel. Dunno what had affected it before but its now running nicely on ics build 9.
Thanks for the help guys, I guess where I got hung up is where cwm resides in the kernel on this device? Where on all my htc's we simply flash cwm over the stock recovery. Anyways thanks again!

The glitch kernel is not compatible with ics, as of yet. It was over written when u flashed ics I'm pretty sure.
Well being completly new to this device was a lot of learning, I still have no idea what I did wrong initially to get stuck in bootloops, but I somehow managed to get cm7 working and then up onto ics so all is well as far as I can see now. Its a backup device for us so I'm pretty sure I will only be flashing ics as it matures. Must say the ics on the cappy is pretty far ahead in terms of usability compared to the desire z, great work here from your devs! And thanks for the pointers guys!

How do I do an ADSP firmware update?

I installed the JB ROM JellyTime Beta 7 fine. When I installed JellyTime Beta 8, it hung on the Jellybean boot screen. The OP of the JellyTime thread told someone else with the same problem to update their ADSP firmware for new kernels. I searched and searched, but I couldn't find a reference to how do do that or what it even really was. Could anyone help point me in the right direction?

It worked for me as well.
along the same discussion I'd like to ask another question about the new 3.0 kernel.
I'm a weekly ROM changer and usually run IceColdSandwich. Once I switch back to ICS and want to reflash JT to check out the latest improvements/updates, do I have to re-flash the GizRoot_v_2 with the 3.0 kernel then flash JellyTime? Would it work If I did a backup of JellyTime and tried to restore it when a new update comes out or does it become non flashable once I've returned to the older ICS kernel?
In other words, can I flash between ICS and JT without having to go through all the steps to reload the 3.0 kernel?
Thanks in advance to a great community!

IceColdSandwich runs on a 2.6.5 kernel, and will not work with a 3.0 kernel. Jellytime runs on a 3.0 kernel and will not work with a 2.6.5 kernel. Both of those ROMS have their respective kernels included. You only have to flash the ROM. I'd also recommend a full wipe before each flash as well.

usspatriot is actually referring to a separate question. Some of us need to update our firmware to run JB, which can only be done by flashing the latest stock before flashing JB. He wanted to know if the updated firmware would be overwritten by flashing ICS, requiring a reflash of stock before reflashing JB. The ICS and JB kernels are not at issue.
I wonder if this has anything to do with my issue with JB on a Desire HD:
I came from SmartDroid_Reloaded_wwe_1.5.2, did a full wipe, installed, everything works fine for me except for cellular data.
I'm wondering if it's something to do with JB not liking my phone? I've also tried a couple of ICS roms.. See below:
SmartDroid_Reloaded_wwe_1.5.2 = cell data works
Sabsa_Prime_v5.0 = cell data works
TrickDroid_v1.1.1 = cell data works
cm-cfX-20120925-OFFICIAL-ace = no cell data
cm-JellyTime_R10 = no cell data
cm-JellyTime_R10.1 = no cell data
cm-JellyTime_R11 = no cell data
i set my APN's to suit my network (crazy johns in australia) but nothing works..
If i connect to wifi, both the wifi signal and cell signal turn blue, if i disconnect from wifi, both turn grey.
MMS, SMS, Phone calls work fine..
