Home desk problem - Captivate General

The weather next to the clock does not change. Anyone else have this bug? I have removed my city and re added it and it still has the same temp and weather. If I go yo accuweater in the app it is correct.

Mine is having problems, but not sure if the same one. When I go into Daily Briefing the weather just keeps trying to load, followed by a forceclose. I will keep an eye on the main Home Dock screen to see if it changes.

I think it's some kinda outage because mine stopped working as well. I think it happened late Fri night or Sat. If you go to the app drawer and select weather (the HTC app, not News & Weather, Accuweather, etc.) and hit the update button, it'll show no data as well (see the screenshot below). Now, question is, who do we burn at the stake, Sprint or HTC…?*
I was just googling it right now, cause I have 2 Evos, one stock, one rooted Myn's and both have the weather problem.

Mine is back. Yay! I did one of my "daily reboots" and weather is back now.

How do I get the city to update as I drive around? It is stuck to city I picked when I activated the phone?
I am using the Motorola preloaded weather app. I have not downloaded anything from the market yet.

IF I do a rest to factory will I loose all my contacts?

#1 you don't. You can add multiple cities and manually change them as you go, or you can download either the weather channel or weather bug apps as they do a much better job.

Make sure you have your weather setup to use the phones location not a zipcode.
How do I set that up? On the Dinc it was in your face and easy. On this thing it has lie 3 sub menus for every dam thing.
OK I am looking t it right now where is the option to use phone /gps location not zip I must be missing it.
Bump! This would be helpful to know being a newbie Droid guy.
I say just drop the motoblur crap n download fancy widget or beautiful widget, looks like htc sense clock widget with: temp, location & time all in one.

Constant "refresh failed" message

I just searched the forum for this but came up empty. I am constantly getting a system message saying "refesh failed". I tried uninstalling some likely apps and disabling auto update on others to no avail. I asssume something is wasting system resources and i would like to correct it. Is anyone else getting this or have an idea of what app or service I should suspect?
Thanks
Same here. No idea what causes it.
In my case it has been caused by the Asus Weather Widget

Same here. Its when, for some reason, the widget isnt able to connect to update. Lose the widget and it goes away.
Same thing here. I can't figure out what makes the widget not be able to update (it happens when I have a great wifi signal), but once it does, it's like the TF decides never to update again -- I'll get the error midday, and by dinner it still has not updated.
So wait, that would mean that its trying to update even when not being used because I'm not even using it and I get the same message. I use Beautiful Weather instead. Are you sure its not something else that's causing it?

Place the asus weather widget on your desktop, then open it and from the options put the update frequenzy on manual and delete the widget. After that I havent received any error messages anymore.
I get his message as well. Very annoying, especially when you're reading an ebook. Will remove the weather widget.
tought it was my e-mail account thanks for this

That's great, unless you still want an automatically updating weather widget on the desktop. Any ideas on how to keep the widget and fix the error?

I'm guessing it is built into the rom so will have to be rooted to remove it. I'm not rooted yet but I system panel lite and don't see it active in there. Maybe if you put it back, disable all automatic behaviour, and then remove the widget the process will stop.

I experienced this same issue although the culprate for me was ES-Task Manager.
For me it was MyCloud

adw ex

Anyone else suffering from the update? Liked the extra additions but now it's as limited as stock launcher when it comes to screen real estate.Hopefully this can be fixed asap. I've contacted anderwebs and received no response. I wish I can roll back but now I'm gonna just have to wait it out. No more hubs for me
yeah i had to revert back to previous version.
Couldn't find the option to hide dock bar

I think it was made more for the phones seeing as the menu button is present. Hopefully he addresses this issue soon. I'd hate to troll back to launcher pro.

i sent them an email yesterday about the action bar... easy to hide but when the orientation changes it shows the action bar again...
Thank goodness I saw the reviews first before I hit the update button. I'm staying with the old version until this is resolved. I hate having a dockbar.
Reverting back to the last version.

Reminds me why I run Ti Back-up...that layout is awful. I like the changes to the folders and some of the other things but the layout is terrible if you are trying to run HUBS. Anybody notice the change to the apps bar? I played with it for awhile before I restored and I am already not a fan. You can only have 11 apps in horizontal mode? Why would you limit it and force it to scroll?
My only complaint with the update it seems it has slowed down a little and gestures are not working as they should swipe up is fine but swipe down doesnt work.
I think maybe it was a rushed release like a preview of look what we can do when icys is here and such.
Hopefully adw ex is back on game soon !!!!

Guys he responded to my inquiries on twitter and it seems he has no idea what we're talking about. Contact anderwebs in his twitter page, he responds a lot faster there.
Edit: He updated it again but the issues with tablet space is still there.
AAGGHH could he have left it out by mistake?

Update 1.3.3.55! (as usual )
I’ve released a minor update with the following additions/fixes:
Option to use the dock as overlay: this means your desktop will be full size and the dock will appear over it when you show it.
When you trigger the “hide/show dockbar” action/gesture, the new status will be remembered until you show/hide it again. This is like the old option “No dock”!!

Ill give it a try brb
EDIT: Its not up yet!! Market still shows 1.3.3.5
EDIT2: Tried it the dock does disappear but the sides (When viewing landscape) do not extendo to the whole screen, so it looks horrible
EDIT3: This is what he told me on twitter:
@mauaus there will be a release by a week with a configuration window for the screen margins. Sorry
Iv just bought this, i see the tablet layout is different from the phone, i never knew that, i used to think, why do peeps want their tablet looking like their phone lol, its actually really good and brilliant bargain at ten pence.

damn
i was just finished setting up hubs, then i updated and now everything looks bad.
a lot of work for nothing.
i hope the small screen issue gets fixed asap.
Bought this today to for a dime to replace LauncherPro (which keeps FC'ing). Looks nice, but scrollable widgets are downright unusable. There is a big-time lag in every scrollable widget I try (Gmail, Calendar, Bookmarks, CNN). I thought maybe it was the gesture feature interfering, but I have them set to none and still the scrolling widgets are just way too sticky. They scroll perfectly in LP and the stock launcher, so there's definitely an issue with ADW Ex.
Anyone else have this problem? It doesn't happen if you keep your finger on the screen while scrolling, just if you swipe-scroll (like flicking through a list of emails), which is why I think it's conflicting with the swipe gesture functionality.

Have you played with the desktop scrolling speed? May not impact the widgets at all...but I am not having the same lag you are describing.

Found another annoying bug

Well 1st there is no Tune-in Radio......and now it looks like my YouTube subscriptions from foreign countries are not showing up, it shows that i have 1 subscription, when open folder i see 2, and in reality on youtube.com i have 4
also i know there is a fix, but the lack on "settings" button is ridiculous, it doesnt even properly work in Google apps.
you mean FM Radio? It's there.

On my T-Mobile One S, Tune-in Radio is listed in the apps on the phone but is not listed in the app drawer.
However, it does have a widget, which can be added to the home screen.
I have no clue why they did it this way.
FM Radio is different that what the OP was talking about.
Another bug i noticed, cant share pictures with Picasa, i get "failed to retrieve account info" msg
this is while Pisaca sync works fine by the way, but i dont wanna sync, i always used SHARE option
also Geniewidget hourly weather results in FC.
Unfortunatly I was stupid enough not to do Nandroid backup and I cant test if thats my ROM or even stock ROM has those issues.
But development is SO slow on this, we dont even have stock ROM yet which I can flash.
I only have Nandroid of ROM with removed bloat and I still get ALL issues above

i have noticed this also .. it was there when i first got the phone and after some PLay Store updates now its not listed in the app drawer..personally i havent used the app before and dont really know if i were to root it if i would keep the app since i dont use it but i noticed it was gone the other day..
same thing happen to me last night when I got my one s
I updated tune in through google play store and the app icon is nowhere to be seen and I cant open it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but did not work.
I use this app everyday on my drive to and from work. I listen to 1310 sports talk radio in Dallas since I was relocated to Houston and I cant go without listening to this station!
I broke down and bought the tune in pro app and it works great and I have an icon.. something is definitely wrong with the included tune in app from T-Mobile..

Its not on the app drawer because its a widget. If a widget doesn't have settings it doesn't have a icon in app drawer. Some app just don't show up on app drawer like homescreen launchers. It's installed, but you can't get to It.

Its not a widget, Tune-In Radio is an app. Tmobile screwed up launcher settings. Work around it to use Nova or Apex launchers, they both work great.

Same problem here. I don't care much because the only reason I discovered it was clearing off photos before returning my phone. Disappointed, crossing fingers better luck with Galaxy S III.

HD Widgets

If you are using HD Widgets on your Nexus 5 , on which screen is it displayed? Screen 2 (home page) or other? Please reference the visual page indicator above the dock at the bottom of the display.

I'm noticing weirdness when it is installed on the home page (the page you go to when taping the home icon). The widget will be one part of the background and the current widget will display on top of the background image. The current (real) widget can be moved around on the screen revealing the embedded widget and if it is moved to a new screen the home page is deleted.
Screenshots included (had problems uploading from the Nexus 7).

Strange, never seen this before
Does this occur when you only have one widget? Or do you have two widgets on separate home screens? What happens when you try different sized HD widgets?
What about other widgets from a different app?
Looks like an app compatibility issue more than anything but try more experiments and see what you can reproduce.

The is the only widget on the home screen. I run HD Widgets on my N4 and N7 with no issues at all. I recently installed the GEL Launcher on the N4, placed the widget on the home screen and I have yet to see the problem there. So it appears to be only an N5 issue.
Last week end I installed the widget on another page that is not the home page and I have not seen this issue as of today.
I have two HD widget widgets on my home screen and they have run fine for the longest time, I have not see the issue that you descrive.
I started noticing my battery draining more than normal and looked it up on GSAM battery stats and HD Widgets was at almost 10% app useage. I have force stopped it and cleared data, going to leave it off for now to see how my phone acts and then try it again.
