I upgraded my Captivate to Froyo and now Beautiful Widgets loses all it's settings and skins everytime I reboot my phone. The developer is aware of this and says there's a way for root users to fix the problem. He said the fix is posted somewhere here on XDA but I can't find it. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.
strange, i never had that problem?
do u have root?

Weird, I've been running Froyo since the early leaks in November and never had that problem.
Me either. Not once.
I had the same issue some months ago...couldn't get settings to stick and lost all skins when rebooted. Never could find out why but after about 3 weeks and numerous custom roms it finally went away.
I had this issue when I flashed Perception, and ended up emailing the dev about it because I couldn't figure it out. At the time, they said it was an issue with Galaxy S phones and they hadn't found a solution.
What fixed it for me was this: I cleared app data and cache for Beautiful Widgets from the applications manager, then uninstalled. I then rebooted into CWM and cleared the Dalvik cache. Finally, I reinstalled the app from the market, and have had no problems since then.
The developer mentions on the market page for Beautiful Widgets that a fix is available here on XDA for root users, but I haven't looked into that. Otherwise, they suggest a factory reset of the phone. It's a very annoying problem. I hope you get it fixed one way or another.

No issue for me ever, but I'm on custom roms.
Running great here ..

I had thought my weather skins disappeared too, but I noticed that when I re-installed a couple of skins, they saved to a folder called data/beautifulwidgets/skins. But there's another folder on my phone called sdcard/data/beautifulwidgets/cache which has files related to my clock and weather skins that I've downloaded before. Not really sure how to fix it though.
I can report the same issue on a i9000. Someone found the solution for root users here yet?
Like I said, try this first: Clear data, uninstall, clear Dalvik cache from CWM, reinstall from Market (not from a backup).
This worked for me. I don't know where the fix is referenced by the app developer. I am not able to search XDA using either the app or the website from my phone, otherwise I'd try to find it.

I can say that the problem happens very infrequently for me. About once in the last week. My solution so far has been to backup all my skins and settings to another folder and whenever they disappear I just copy them back into place. It's minor annoyance for me at this point but hopefully the dev will find a permanent solution.
I had the same problem. Finally I can fix the bug.
This is for root users.
With "Root Explorer" app go to this location:
/dbdata/databases/
Then looking for com.levelup.beautifulwidgets folder. Delete this folder (com.levelup.beautifulwidgets). Reinstall the app (from market or apk, I reinstaled from apk).
Now the app shoulds work fine.

I'm not sure if the OP is a troll, or just stupid... How hard is it to give ACCURATE information on what you are trying to do.
Trolled. Perhaps.
Troll or not , I have had this issue when trying to update apps. I haven't really figured out what's causing apps not to load. I get "app not installed, no usb or SD card found".
Ill be vague just like the op. Here's what you do clear cache and defaults on the market.

Yeah, I've had the same problem, but usually just trying to update the app again works (at least, for me).

I get it when the download interrupts and the file is corrupted. So it can't install. I usually just redownload and its fine.
Try unmounting ur SD card, then installing. I had a problem awhile back with specific apps and that fixed it.

I am having the same problem and it is driving me insane. I have cleared cache in the market. I have rebooted, reflashed, reset to factory, Took out the SD card, put it back in, unmounted it, booted without it.
It doesn't matter what rom I flashed as I have tried several. I just restored my phone with CWM to a backup I made right after I first rooted and the market still doesn't work.
Are you rooted?? Its most likely a bad previous install that needs to be removed first which can be quite troubling because some show that they aren't installed when in actuality they are just not properly. IF YOU ARE ROOTED try using Titanium Backup Root to remove the bad install.

yeah, I am rooted. have been for a while. I have flashed and used several roms/ kernals etc. The thing is, even if I reset the phone to factory it still does it. I went into Titanium, what or how do I find a bad install?? Is there something to look for?

Possibly the ROM's included the app but have a bad install inside the ROM. I seen this issue with a couple apps specifically FLASH PLAYER. Which app are you having issues with?? When in Titanium Backup go to the Backup/Restore section and it should show all of your installed applications..scroll to see if the application you are trying to install is on the list...if so uninstall it. If this doesn't work its possible there is a previous apk file on your phone of this app which is corrupting the download which can be removed with an app like "ROOT EXPLORER" unfortunately it costs money. To do that you would venture into the system/app folder and delete the apk file if in fact there is one in there. To check to see if there is one most file explorers will allow you to go into these folders but you cannot access anything.

I have Root Explorer. Thanks. seems this is a common problem after searching google. No know solution as everyone has got theirs to work doing something different. I have not made any backups with Titanium as the roms I have used auto re-installed everything. I am wondering if it has something to do with that. Any time I flash a rom now, it says "starting download" for all my apps in the market. They never start though.
it's working now. not sure what I did though. I wiped everything and flashed BAMF remix (what I was using originally) and when I went through the setup I did everything like I did before. Only thing I changed when swapping roms was I would not set up my HTC account in the setup.
I'm not rooted (yet!) and I've been having the same problem with the market for the last two days. Probably half the apps I bought/downloaded hung on authorizing. When finally authorized it took quite a while to download and show under my apps. One took almost an hour to show up. Email notifications were also delayed. Tried clearing the cache but that didn't help...

for some reason the last 3 apps i've installed all FC on me. at least 2 were from the market. prior to this i've installed a ton of apps from the market and TB.
open maps, movies, yelp.
i managed to install yelp after i uninstalled movies. not sure why that mattered. i actually got the FC message but then it went away. movies still didn't install correctly. i've completely removed open maps.
i've heard fixing permissions in cwr can work but i've screwed up my phone on a prior rom doing that so i'm really weary of using it. also, why would i need to fix permissions if it's a new install?
Update: fixing permissions did nothing. Does clearing dalvik do anything?

Clear cache and dalvik and try again. If you still have problems, then reflash your ROM on top of your existing ROM without wiping anything. If you still have problems after doing this, then backup your apps/app data with Titanium and then do a full wipe (system, data, cache; everything). Then reinstall your ROM, then install Titanium and restore your apps (do not restore system settings; only restore apps and app data).

recently some apps do not have a download button in the market but others do. ive uninstalled the update to market hoping that would do something but no avail. and ideas?
try clearing data and cache.
can you still download these apps from market.android.com? are these apps compatible with your phone?

im not entirly sure what wiping data encompasses. i have wiped cache, same problem, and unless facebook suddenly dropped 2.3 for support, my phone can support it. ive had it installed before.
update: i tryed installing facebook from the site, it says its unsupported. i havent changed roms since last time i installed it. :/
I have the same thing, I cleaned market cache but that did not work.
I tried to install Goweather, I had it installed via a APK file I downloaded.
And found that there was a Update but in the market the Update did not showup. I was using 1.9.8 and in the markted there now is version 1.9.9
1.9.9 showed up as installed (not so because I have 1.9.8) So I uninstalled 1.9.8 and wanted to install 1.9.9 But no download button.
So I tried to install it via Web market and there it says device not supported..
Weird..
I have the same problem, it says that my device is unsupported.
Have the problem since I downgraded from cm7 to cm6 on my milestone.
Clearing cache and app-data didn't help
I had a nandroid and could extract many apps that market says are unsupported and all of them work.
Sounds like the version your running isn't compatible with the app. Can you list a couple of the apps that you get the download link and a couple apps where you don't?

primarily maps and facebook to not work. its a growing suspission that its my lcd density variable in my build.prop that i changed to make smaller on my screen. i verified that the rest of the file is the same.
chompsms as well doesnt but it seems that many of the games work
another update, build.prop doesnt seem to be affecting it
Have you tried APbrain or another pseudo market. APBrain has a instant downloader. Just sayin.
.... that doesn't seem to work for anybody
I've got absolutely no clue what's causing this but the release notes of the most recent CM7 version for my Optimus One P500 mentioned that this has been fixed. I'm not sure if this is specific to the P500 version, but if it isn't, then upgrading to the most recent CM7 version might help. In any case, looking through the commit log should tell you what the fix actually was and allow you to apply it to your version.
truthfully ide like to stick with google market. as much as fixing the phone and such so the check can go through, its moreso fixing symptoms than the problem(a descussion for another day)
ive been using cm7 nightly 144 for a while now. im not entirely sure if the new market is the problem or the nihtly. anyone else have any details on it?
Sometimes it happens if DPI is changed.

Screen resolution was the culprit for me. Changed to default, clear market data/cache, go to market, download, change resolution back. Stock, rooted rom, nexus s 4g.
I had that problem too on my tattoo, i just backup only market (NO Data app) with titanium then wiped cache, and restored and it work again.

I have this same problem, and yes I have my dpi set to 190 when the default is 240.
Hey guys. I've scoured the web and haven't found anything on this so thought id ask the experts.
When I install a new app from Market, the notification bar shows the "successfully installed Droid DJ Lite" popup for the new app, but also displays "Updating Droid DJ Lite".
Clicking on the "Updating" entry brings up the market page for a totally different app. In this case it pulled up Google Reader.
This happens with every app I install, and clicking "updating..." brings up a random app every time.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this or knows what's causing it.
I'm running kh2 with CRT on/off with drhonks kh4 kernal, and ext4 is enabled.
I recovered my apps via Titanium Backup after flashing, and have run fox permissions via rom manager.
Thanks in advance.

you might want to try the factory reset, wipe cache, and dalvik cache after you flash a rom and before you use tb to restore all your apps.

I should clarify that I was only using Rom Manager to fix permissions, and wasn't actually managing any roms with it.
I flashed back to ICBINB and ran back through the whole process of installing KH2 again this morning, and then wiped cache's and data, and it looks to have fixed this issue.
Linda is still whining about space on my SD card, but I've figured that one out before.
Can't take credit for this, as I found it on AndroidForums, but I was having this annoying issue on Viper 2.0 and though I would share this just in-case others were having the same issue. This worked for me.
ROM Manager recently updated, and for some unholy reason, decided to drop a ".nomedia" file into your SDcard. This means any media contained within your SDcard does not show up anymore. Here's what you do.
FIrst, uninstall and delete ROM Manager from system/app.
Second, find any and all .nomedia files in your sdcard folder and delete them.
Third, clear the caches of any and all affected apps, such as Gallery, Media Storage, Play Music, etc. Update: you may need to clear data in the Media Storage app as well.
Fourth, reboot your device into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik.
Fifth, reboot and it should be fine.
Any and all other fixes should be listed in here as well.
Do not reinstall ROM Manager until this issue is fixed; even with the new update users are still finding the same issue, so I'd wait a few days.
No one uses ROM manager in the HOXL forums because it has many bugs. Most of us use TWRP/GOOManager
