[Q] Printing on the Xoom - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible that the xoom and honeycomb will get wireless printing support?
Thanks

Google has a cloud print option on Google Chrome. Try that?

You can set up cloud printing from Gmail afaik.

Actually I was hoping to be able to just connect to my wireless printer via my xoom without having to use a computer. Cloud print sounds cool and maybe after I set it up I will be able to use it like I want to. Guess ill have to try it out and see.
Thanks

I dont have a xoom.. But have you tried the Printershare app, not sure if it works with honeycomb. Works great on my phone, can print via wifi or bluetooth.

im also interesting in printing from my xoom. is there a print cloud solution?

Printershare is working for me, both directly to my HP4700 wireless printer as well as to other printers via Google Cloud printing.

Have used both Google cloud print and printershare. My experience is that printershare is much easier. But...you have to upgrade to the premium version for easy, simple, one click printing. I found cloud print to hang often, whether from chrome netbook or xoom and cloud print would/could not wake up wireless printer. Printershare premium was easy decision for me.

+1 on Printershare. Works great for me.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.pauloslf.cloudprint&feature=search_result is a free alternative to Printershare that still allows you to print to any cloud enabled device but does not limit you to a certain amount of devices or anything like that. There are no limitations that I am aware of just some ads you can get rid of for like 2 bucks.
I have been using it from my Xoom with good success. Even went out and bought an HP eprinter to play around with and it works great too, you can hook it up literally anywhere and get it on a wifi network and then print to it. You can put it on your phones portable wifi hotspot too

If you have an HP printer (wired or wireless network printer) that supports Eprint, HP has a free app on the market that allows you to print almost anything very easily. The app keeps a list of any documents you have viewd recently or all of the documents on your Xoom. You just select the document and it prints. Emails are printed by forwarding them to an email address that you are given for your printer. I have just started playing with it. I know you can print pictures on your Xoom (not sure about pix on Facebook or Picasa web.) Also have not figured out if it can print web pages. But it works for all other documents I have thrown at it. And it's free!

Motoprint will work well with local printers. Haven't found a good solution for traveling yet. I always keep a thumbdrive handy for emergencies.

Print from EVO?

Has anyone found a decent app that lets you send a document/email/photo to a printer, via bluetooth or wirelessly?
thanks!
If you have an HP printer then the HP iPrint Photo app on the market works well for printing phots directly through wifi. I haven't been able to find a solution though that will print everything without the need of a PC connected to the printer also.
Hah, i'm glad I can help someone. The perfect app for you is PRINTERSHARE. It's a paid app but if you search, you can find the apk.

Has anyone used "send 2 printer"?
I am a Hp rep. I print from my phone to the new hp eprint printer. No app required for any phone. The printer has its own email address and you send to it like any other email. Enjoy evo users!

Google Cloud Print via Galaxy Note!!

Google has put out a new service called Cloud Print now: http://www.google.com/cloudprint/learn/
Basically printer manufacturers are adhering to this spec now where you can print documents from your phone straight to your network connected printer without having to have a PC connected/turned on to that printer.
There is a free app in the Play Store that can print anything from your handset using Cloud Print:https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5wYXVsb3NsZi5jbG91ZHByaW50Il0.
It impressed me so much I wanted to share with you guys here. Let me know your thoughts.
This service was out for a long time in testing via Google Chrome.
I do not have a Cloud Print ready printer but I have successfully printed from my phone. I just need the Google Chrome browser window on my deaktop open, a bit troublesome but those Cloud print ready printers should work automatically via an Internet connection.

How to print a mail via gmail app ?

Hello,
I don't find how to print directly a mail (simply via wifi, not via printing a pdf of the mail and print the pdf, for example) via gmail app or the classic email app.
I've installed the Epson iPrint version 2 for android (I've got an Epson PX730FW) but It's not a solution...
Tks for your help.

You can download cloud print from the Google play store and use that to print from anywhere... only catch is that you have to have chrome on the computer you will be using to print to and the computer and printer must both be on...
Other than that, works great!

In Maine Terms....you can't get there from here....but it can be done.
Try out an app called PrinterShare from the Market. I believe it includes the necessary drivers for your printer. Once you have that installed on your tablet, open it and connect directly to the printer via WiFi.
After that is done, you send things you want to print to the printer via the Share function, it shows up as an option called PrinterShare. You should be able to try it out first before you buy the key, if it works for you.
The Google Cloud print option also works, but requires a PC connected to the Printer on the network, and the PC needs to be on. PrinterShare should let you go direct, and also supports printing from web browser or any other app that you can share from.
Hope this helps.

You can accomplish this with a printer that support CloudPrint. The device is registered with your Google ID and the cloud print app will allow you to print to that printer without needing Chrome on your PC.
I have a Kodak Hero 9.1 that does this flawlessly.
I use PrinterShare too with Google Cloud Print! Works very well.

I use Let's Print Droid (free from Play Store) for CUPS-connected printers at work and PrinterShare ($) for my home wifi printer. Let's Play Droid also has options for LPR, Google Cloud Printing, SMB, and FTP but I haven't tried these modes.
I bought PrinterShare.....
I bought PrinterShare, and it prints fine to my HP printer, however, it will not print to my Dell Laserjet. It seems that it has something to do with dell and releasing drivers or something like that. So, do you guys think google clould print would work for me?
Am I missing something...the original post asked about printing from the gmail app. There is no share button in the gmail app unless I'm missing it, so I don't think it can be done from the app.
PrinterShare has an option to print gmail.

Yes.
But seriously, if you have a google cloud capable printer and install the cloud print app you can print from pretty much any app at that point.

I had no idea PrinterShare had the capability to print from within it. I've always clicked Share, then selected it to print when the Share button is available in an app. I don't really print or try to print that often though. The idea behind the tablet to me is to avoid having to print things.
That being said, unfortunately, I think the fact remains that printing is not available for the great majority of apps, so "pretty much any app" means 10% or less of apps. For instance, I can't print from Google Maps. Another thing I've never found a good way to print...a web form that I've entered data into. Sending it to Cloud Print prints the form, but with none of the entered data.
Although I'm sure someone will give me the process almost as soon as I post this
I mean a screenshot would at least get what youre talking about done better then not... And then you have to figure there is an app that will wifi print those screenshots. This is obviously not too useful when the document is multiple pages

MyCloud is ASUS's app for cloud storage, not any "Android 4.0" app.
So I just reloaded Cloud Print (it's actually been awhile since I used it on my old Prime and had not yet put it on my Infinity). I had forgotten that in order to print mail easily, you have to install the K9 mail app to use in conjunction with the Cloud Print app.
Once you have K9 loaded, you simply go to your inbox and long press on the mail you want to print. When the context menu opens, click "share" and you will have the option of sharing with cloud print. Once you do that you simply need to click the "click here to print" button.
I prefer the Gmail app's UI by a long shot. I install K9 and disable notifications and syncing and just refresh manually when I need to print an email.
You can also print attachments in Gmail with the cloud print app by clicking the attachment and downloading, then choosing "share" and sharing it with the cloud print app.
I hope this helps!
YES. I am So tired of new attitude the kids have of "Oh I don't know the answer, so let me just make one up".
Google forums are full of crap answers these days. Someone needs to tighten it up.

[Q] Cloud Printing to Epson Printer

I just picked up an Epson printer that works with Google Cloud Print, however, my Nexus 5 only lists my Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5, and Save to Google Drive as options to print. It doesn't seem to recognize the printer for some reason. My LG Gpad recognizes the printer and a whole list of other devices that the Nexus doesn't. I've tried searching the web and the forums here, but can't seem to locate an answer. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? I am able to print using the Epson app, but I would prefer to just use Google Cloud Print if possible.
I figured it out. There was a setting I missed where I was able to change the email address I had associated with the program.

[Q] Print email from OEM Email app?

OK, I'm hoping I'm missing something very obvious... but I cannot find an option to print an email from the OEM Email (not GMail) app that comes installed on the Nexus 5?
Unfortunately, it has to be printed from this app (so other working options like login via browser, print from PC etc. are not viable for me).
I've already searched extensively and have not been able to find any information. Can someone please advise on how to accomplish this? Surely you have to be able to print an email from within the app!?
If you have a wireless printer, there are a few good printing apps out there. The printer and phone have to be on the same wireless network to work. Epson printing app works great. Good luck.

Thanks but printing apps are not the issue, it's how to initiate the Print command from within the Email app itself. I can't find a menu option or equivalent anywhere.
You cannot print directly from the stock email app. Maybe Google will add this in a future update. If you are using a wireless printer then you might try installing the app for the make of printer you have and then you may be able to share an email with the app for print. I have an HP printer and have been unable to get the email share to work with the HP app. Only option I know of is to forward the email to your GMail account and print it from there. Not great but its the only way to print emails.

Thanks for confirming what I already suspected was the case, but still find a little hard to believe! Seems like an odd omission. Hopefully they'll add decent Share functionality in a future update.
