[Q] Restoring contacts to new Droid using Google Sync? - General Topics

Howdy. Sorry if this is a noob question but...
Today I returned my Xperia X10 and obtained an HTC Inspire 4G.
I made sure to google sync everything on my X10 prior to returning it.
How do I import all the contacts I google syncd back to my new phone?
Just pressing google sync on the phone doesn't appear to work.

[Q] Sony ericsson sync zone settings and apks needed

i am currently running wolfbreaks custom rom cm6.1.3, and is wanting to know what i needed to get the get access to the sony ericsson sync, as i have everything al saved to the site and cant restore anything, any ideas or tips willl be very helpful.
Forgive me for my foolishness, but I have an idea:
You can go back to 2.1 first, sync contacts using SE sync.
Then backup a vcf file to sd.
After that log onto market to activate your google account.
Delete all contacts stored on your phone, then restore all contacts to Google (Not phone memory!)
Contacts should be synced to your Gmail account if you have sync activated in settings.
After you have sorted the contacts, root, etc. and flash back to the custom rom you are using.
After bootup, log onto market. If you have sync activated in settings, contacts should be automatically syncing to your phone.
i would like to keep the feature working on the 2.2 rom. i know the arc and xperia play has the feature so it must be a small coding issue and install files. i have already tried the files from a 2.1 apks post, when i log in it crashs the process..
try the one from the arc system dump then
but i would still recommend the google method, who knows when you gonna leave SE and go for another android brand?
I have most of them copied now into the Google. I would like to try it and get it working. To see how Facebook contacts interacts with the sync.

Huge Issue - Deleted Calendar app AND Google Calendar Sync

Hey everyone,
So, long story short, I was moving from a Droid X to a Droid Charge, wanted to keep my apps etc, Titanium backup'd the Droid X stuff and restored on my rooted Droid Charge. Some apps were overlapped and issues arose. I sorted them all out except for the Calendar. It wouldn't launch so I thought I had to do what I did with the other overlapped apps and delete it. Welllll...now I can't re-install the Touchwiz calendar. Furthermore, I thought deleting all Calendar related APKs would be a good thing and now I don't even have an option to sync my Google Calendar on the phone, under My Account. Can anyone help me re-install it? Or any calendar for that matter?
Thanks!

[Q] Moving contacts from BB to Desire s

Hi all,
Im new with Android and was wondering how to move my contacts from my old BB 9000 to my new Desire S. Ive tried the bluetooth way as the phone asked me to, but only one has transfered. My BB is sinhronized with a Google account-do you guys think that helps?
Many Thanks
I think that if you add that same google account to your phone, it will automatically import your contacts for you.
If not, you could always use your BB to export contacts to SIM and then import them on your Andorid phone.
Good luck!

Sync to Google calendar on Litening Rom v2.3 failure
Hi,
I'm am currently experiencing a similar issue. I recently rooted a Samsung Galaxy S2 (i91000) with an original kernal (XWKK2) and flashed the Litening Rom v2.3 onto the device. Everything else works fine but the syncing with google calendar. I noticed in the changelog that v2.2 had added the google calendar but I'm unsure whether the syncing aspect was added. I was originally intending to post to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
but because I am a new member I am unable to. I'm wondering if other people are experiencing this issue?
The error message was very vague. I will include it on a follow up post. I am hoping to bump this post as I haven't been able to find a solution yet.
Many thanks for the help,
Pat
Edited text: I'm hoping to get a response first just so I know whether to install ADB - i.e. whether this is already a known issue or not.
I had this problem and solved the syncing last night. On your mobile device go into settings, applications, manage, all, then find calendar storage and clear data. Ok that and reboot. It will then resync with your online calendar.
See vmiller's post in following link.

Calendar was syncing with my kf but not my Droid X. Did this on my Droid x and it syncs fine now.
Thanks so much!
I'll try this soon.
Looks like this will solve the issue.
I'll thanks the post when I can - did more then 8 today
Cheers,
Pat
Oh, and only need to do that once.
It solved the problem of new events created online or on kf not showing up on my Droid and it solved the problem of new events created on Droid not appearing online and on my kf.
IMHO , when i log in my google account , the calendar start sync
Hi guys,
I've tried it on the phone and it seems to work after the restart. However, if you restart the phone again (for any reason), the sync issues reoccur. I've found that if I clear the data, restart the phone and re-sync it works but it fails to sync again once the phone is restarted. I'll stick with the workaround for the moment but I hope a fix comes about.
Cheers,
Pat

[Q] Nexus 5 won't sync gmail contacts?

Hi All,
I tried to find something similar but to the best of my searching abilities, nobody seems to be having the same issue.
I've been using an HTC One (a GNex before that) for the last few months. When I got it, like my other previous Android phones, at the initial setup it pulled down all of my contacts.
When I set up my N5, however, the contact list was the last one from my GNex! The hundreds of new contacts since then are not on the new phone. It's enough to make me want to just sell the phone instead of going through each contact individually.
On my HTC one in the People app it shows 494 contacts under my gmail address, and last sync was a few minutes ago. On the N5 I don't get the same screen, but I have a total of 123 people in the app, and it shows that it has synced with my gmail.
Does anyone know what's going on here, and how to get my contacts onto the N5?
Thanks!
You probably saved your new contacts on the htc on the phone not on google...
Change them to google or export them all and import into google.
ALSO, make sure you had the htc one set to sync contacts...settings..accounts...google...click on your email..

My contacts are saved to Google. In my People app on the HTC, When I click to choose source, "Google (my email)" is selected, with 495 contacts.
As I said in the original post, everything is synced, and the last sync was a few minutes before the post.
I tried the export and import but all that did was double the number of contacts under my Google account (gmail address).
Is there anything else I can try?
I am currently using an iPhone 4 and the idiots at Apple have removed the option to export contacts to Google in their iTunes program... SO now I have installed a little app called Bump, that should help me transfer all my contacts to the new Nexus 5 when i get it. You can try it with your two phones if you like. Seems pretty simple, however i have never used it yet...
Here is a link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bumptech.bumpga&hl=en
well if what you said is true, you should be in the htc one forum, not the nexus 5. Apparently your htc is what messed up.
I really have to go with user error here, its pretty basic stuff. I highly doubt your htc one failed to sync contacts even though it was set to sync google contacts...if so..you are the "one."
I know that sounds rude, but, really.....its basic stuff here.
GOOGLE how to backup contacts and restore them on an android phone, unless you want your hand held here.
Hey whatever happened to the OP's problem ? Did he/she fix it ? I have recently transferred all my contact from my iPhone to my new N5 with absolutely no problems with this app. I can confirm it works like a charm and totally recommend it. It takes less then 10 seconds to complete everything. The actual transfer took like 1 second !!!
I have a similar issue.
I too am coming from an HTC One, but I don't think that's the problem in my case. I've logged into my Nexus 5 using my Google credentials, but none of my Google contacts are appearing. I checked my contacts list in Gmail from my laptop to be sure, and all my contacts are there. I went back to my Nexus 5 and manually synced contacts in the settings, but nothing changed; my contacts are still not showing up.
I would love to know if anyone has found a resolution to this issue.
Have you made sure that "Auto-sync app data" is checked off,
"All contacts" is selected in Contacts to display,
and "Contacts" is checked off in your Gmail sync account.
Are you using a corporate Google account? You may need to ask your administrator for help.
Did you log into http://contacts.google.com and see if they are shown there? If so they must also be in My Contacts which the HTC might not be setting. Also on your phone, check settings and then check if they are in another folder just not being displayed.
