[question] how to make second task bar always present - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I'm trying to make a second task bar that just sits there but is always showing even when other apps are open. How would I achieve this? I searched but bring a novice I don't think I was using the right terms.
It wouldn't be something I can drag down. It would be similar to a notification bar but under the task bar. And unlike the task bar it would even show when using there browser and other apps.
Any help is appreciated

TyTn V1605 bottom menu bar ?

I have a V1605 vodafone UK at the bottom of the today screen, it has a small section displays battery icon and comms icon. When programs are running, they do not appears in the bar, however tomtom does, if tomtom is running you can see tomtom icon in this bar.
Can anyone tell me should I see all running programs here ?
Is there anyway to remove this bar ? Its using up vital real estate.
Bottom menu bar is the tray. Apps can stick whatever they want in there - check out PHM Tray Launch of VJTrayLaunch. Only selected icons appear, not all running apps (although I think the O2 extensions makes this an option).
I don't like the tray, and made solutions in the past to remove it, but it needs updating for WM5 (VJToggleToday).
There are a couple of other apps that do the same, try reading the end of my thread to find the name. A Russian program I think.

I was looking for a task manager.
I found valksoft true toolbar, its fab, it uses that tray area and shows running apps, you can switch to or close them, now that bar is useful.
Can I also had VJtray launch would they work together ?
In your pics I see it using the area where the hard button menu is, is that what it replaces ?
PHM Tray Launch is a better app then VJTrayLaunch due to the fact that I haven't rewritten VJTrayLaunch yet...
But yes, a tray launcher should co-exist with other tray apps.
I Use VJToggleToday II to remove my softkeys/start bar. Search on this forum for info.

TMO HD2 - How do I add the time and battery meter on the tast bar?

I can not figure it out. Everytime I choose the option to show time on the task bar the battery meter disapears, and visa versa. Can someone help? Thank you!
are you running custom or stock? Is there any thing installed that may interfere/influence the behavior of the task bar and it's icons? Recently i had a similar issue with my tp2 taskbar and i figured out that i had disabled the battery and icon through the sk tools applications by modifying the registry. I had to reverse my actions in order to get them back. Some more info about your rom and programs may help us hone in on the issue.

[Q] Pull Down Hidden Status Bar

Looking for a theme (or setting) that allows you to pull down your status bar while it is hidden. I currently have my status bar hidden, but I must open up an app in order to pull it down.
I couldn't find a thread for this idea. I apologize if I am doubling up on threads if one exists. Anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance.
Launcher Pro (and I believe a few other homescreen apps) allow you to assign a button to show the status bar (or notification panel). I have it set so that the home button shows my notifications.
Best of luck!
ADW can set this on swipe up/swipe down so that you would swipe down just as if the Status Bar was there even though it isn't.
Thanks for the responses. I've tried both and now have to decide which one I like more. haha

Launch apps directly from notification bar?

Looking for an app to launch apps/shortcuts from the notification bar.
I have the recent tasks thing on my pull down, and I'm looking for something like that but where I can pick my apps/shortcuts. (IE, pull down the notification bar and one ONE line have 4+ icons of my favorite apps. Slide the bar left & right for more apps).
I don't want a program that I can launch from the notification bar that in turn pops up a folder of icons (Folder Organizer, App Launcher both can do this). That's one click too many.
No home button or hold search either - if I wanted that, I'd go back to Power Strip
Thanks for any help. Having no luck in the market again. I'm starting to think it's simply not do-able or I'd have found it by now.

ToggleBar is the closest I've seen.
Thanks, that's one I have not seen. I like how it's a combination launcher/toggle/contact. Needs some work. Would like to know why we have to do the extra step (pull down bar, launch this app, launch app you actually want to use).
Also suffers from ugly icon on tray (I guess I can modify the apk). Also wonder why you have to have an icon (an invisible square is no help either) - other apps don't need to have something in the bar to be available on the drop down.
Will try this one out.
Currently using Calendar in Status bar Trial which I have set to launch Organized Drawer - but at least the icon is functional (showing the day & date).
Also - noticed an app called ncut, but crashes on my phone, possible gingerbread problem.

[Q] Any way to make status bar longer / wider to show more icons / notifications ?

Hi guys,
Is there any way to make our status bar longer / wider ? It really irritates me that some notifications do not show up on the status bar (like GMail, Facebook, Tapatalk etc.), because there are other apps occuping the place in status bar permanently (like CPU Usage Monitor, Battery Indicator Pro, Tasker or Avast! Mobile Security). So sometimes if I don't catch the notification sound I can't tell there is new email, facebook event or tapatalk post just by looking at the screen. I need to click on the status bar to see all the notifications. I turned off permanent notifications for some programs like Tasker or Avast, but this way they are not prevented to be killed by internal task manager. Taking into consideration the fact that status bar occupies only small part of the screen I would say it is a huge waste of space. Is there any way to hack it and make it longer / wider to display more icons / notifications ? My HTC Sensation shows more icons in the status bar and it has this nice arrow sign to indicate there are additional notifications. Here we don't have such indicator.
I'm not absolutely sure about the stock ROM -- although I think I do know and that the answer should be in the negative -- but on CM10, for example, there is an option to display the number of open notifications in the task bar. I haven't tested it so far -- if I remember to, I will give it a shot and report back in.
Bottom line: probably on a custom ROM.
