Does anybody know wich if any kernels are compatible with clockworkmod3? I have returned to stock eclair and am trying to flash just a kernel to stock but am having no luck. I thought maybe using an old version of clockwork to get it to work but I cant seem to get my phone rooted with anything but cwm3. If i cant flash just a kernel.....is bakedsnack or syndacite rom flashable through cwm3? Im really stuck here. I keep getting errors and failed attempts with all older versions of clockwork.
None, and wrong place for this (Hint: Q/A)
Yea I should have posted it in the q n a section. Didn't occur to me till after I posted , lol. So someone kindly move it please. But anyways , what version of clockwork can I use to flash just a kernel?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
For stock eclair, DI18, I would use clockwork 2.5.5. This supports rfs as to where cwm 3 supports EXT4 which is different. Not to be rude, but how did you miss the Q&A section?

I guess the same way all the others do to.

Didn't miss it. I'm aware its there ,lol. I just wasn't thinkin about it when postng. I should just exclusivley post there lol since all my posts are usually questions. Ok though , so to flash a kernel I do so the sameway as a rom?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yes, as long as it has been put in a flashable zip.
Currently, there are no kernels for 2.1 that have been modded to support ext4, but there is no reason that it can't be done.
I have also posted instructions several times on how to manually install a different clockwork, but the search is down at the moment.
well i see theres a camera fix with the genocide kernel.....can i use cwm3 on froyo to flash?
Wow well I finally got cw2.5 to work and flashed eb13 back and the genoice kernel. This phone is actually pretty epic now. Awesome.

I am attempting to follow the "Newbie's Step-by-step" guide for the Showcase on Cellular South. I have rooted my phone and downloaded the files needed to install RomManager and Clockworkmod Recovery (I haven't installed everything yet, still getting the hang of my root file manager).
Before I continue on, I wanted to make sure that I have the correct version of Voodoo for my phone. I am using a stock but rooted 2.1 os that comes standard on the Showcase. I followed the link to the Voodoo Kernel thread to download the zip file but kept getting error messages from the dropbox site. After a bit more looking, I found a Showcase Voodoo kernel. The name of the file is eb11_voodoo.zip
Is this the correct version for my phone?
I have been reading these forums for several days looking for this answer.
I would assume that since I would be replacing the kernel of the stock os that it would not matter what the original os version was, but I want to be absolutely sure.
Also, is it possible to use the Voodoo kernel while maintaining the rest of the stock 2.1 os? I really just want to be able to use lagfix and voodoo audio controls.

Small world im from brookhaven too!... But to answer your question that zip is for EB11 2.2 not 2.1. I am not sure right off what kernels are available for 2.1. I upgraded to 2.2 with the modem and used OTB 1.6 kernel when i did my phone. You should try pnp v1 for showcase it is a pretty safe and basic rom for staying close to factory and gives you 2.2.
According to cell south's Facebook page, they are suppose to release 2.2 for the showcase by the end of the week if you can wait. If not you will need a dj20 2.1 voodoo kernel.
Sent from my SCH-I500
You should probably just wait until cellular south releases 2.2, then use a voodoo kernel. I don't know of any voodoo kernels for 2.1 that include the audio controls.

I think I would wait for Phidelt82 to fix the new 2.2 build and flash it. I have never cared for, or been happy with CS released upgrades. I always give them a shot but end up flashing other roms within a week due to the disappointment in their versions. Just my two cents.

This is the Gingerbread KF2 leak from Krylon360, I just deodexed, added root and made flashable.
READ: YOU WILL LOSE CWM RECOVERY AFTER FLASHING THIS AND WILL HAVE TO USE ODIN TO CHANGE ROMS UNTIL CWM IS MODIFIED FOR GB
This is completely stock and contains all bloat.
Instructions:
1. Odin Kd1 (easiest method)
2. Boot into CWM recovery
3. Make sure mounts are correct
4. Flash via CWM
This does not fix the rainbow crap and the beginning, just wait it will boot.
Let me know if any bugs are found.

Thanks to Krylon360 for the KF2 leak and telling me how to add root.
Thanks to Chadster214 for testing.
is there an odin version because i already have gingerbread kf1 but would like to upgrade
I haven't found anything wrong yet besides that rainbow screen.

No odin version you will just have to odin kd1 then flash through cwm. It goes pretty quick.

Ya I saw the rainbow goes away with kf1 bootloaders. I didn't want to include them and have people getting bricks. But if people are comfortable they can follow whitehawkx method and get rid of the rainbow.

Followed all instructions per thread
Everything works that I can tell
GB 2.3.3 KF2 Rooted ...... Battery is much better on the KF1 then the KF2, don't know why. On KF1 it would last all day without moving... KF2 now on for a few hours and down 10%..... Yep Im sure!
Hope this can help

After I odin back to whitehawks and then flash this with unmount mount mount unmount I get a boot loop Samsung Galaxy S 4g screen... I do have the ext4 partitions... Can someone help me? Thanks!
I also noticed I can't unmount system after trying this 3 times.... I also redownloaded the rom just to be sure I didn't have a corrupt rom. I can't seem to correct the issue.
This is build is not half bad (minus the 800 quadrant scores that I've been getting Seems pretty stable and I've been running it all day. Might keep this as my everyday rom for now!
I truly believe quadrant is wrong this gingerbread runs smoother then any of the other roms I've had lol

So I had GB bootloaders and 2.3.4 installed on it. I was browsing through the forum and really liked Raver's Redux rom, but totally blacked out i have to change bootloaders back to Froyo ( still no idea how to ). So my phone got into a bootloop. The problem is, i tried to flash the phone back to GB rom, and was doing it using ODIN, and brother plucked the usb cable off during the flashing process. Now everytime i try to turn it on, it has a yellow triangle that says" Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. PLease select recovery mode in KIes and try again. " Tried Kies, no use. The same screen appears when i try to get into a download mode, tried usb jig . same screen. WHat should i do from here? i am out of ideas.
OK, i flashed Stock GB rom with Odin, even the dwld mode didn't appear on phone screen, but ODIN read it and i got a connection in with it. Now its on a bootloop again. It goes into the recovery menu (3e). Says E:Failed to mount /data (INvalid Argument). What should i do from here??? THanks
NVM , I got it working now But i still want that Redux rom My question is : how do i get back to Froyo Bootloaders? A specific instruction would be really helpful, what to tick and not on ODIN , etc... Thanks
Flash kd1 or Odin ravers kc1 with all 4 files. You'll have the froyo bootloaders. There at guides out there if you search. I'm in my phone, so I can't link then. Sorry.if you have trouble, let me know and I'll walk you through it

Ya know, I had no idea what FroYo meant until now... Interesting, but why is all of andriod os named from a desert?
I have searched the threads and cannot find any cwm flashable stock Froyo roms. When I got my phone I immediately put gingerbread on it and I would like to have a cwm stock rom to try out. I have the Odin ones that are posted but I can't customize them the way that I want to. If anyone has a link for one or can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Nope theres no cmw stock roms that i know.
Whats the difference in customization terms between cmw or Odin ones? You can also open the odin file with a zip manager and modify it within the original file. Also... if you mean in terms of framework or something like that you can do it within the phone.
Unless im wrong theres nothing "extra" you can do with a cwm file that you cant do with an Odin rom.
I figured that there was no cwm roms available. With having a cwm rom it is just a personal preference for me so that I can work on it on my computer, thats all.
Bionix has a cwm froyo rom ...its mostly stock...and infuse 1.6 also

Wevas devs are concentrating on gingerbread and ICS
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Ya, I understand that. If you read the original question that I posted, I asked if anyone knows where I can get a cwm stock froyo rom. I did not ask anyone to make one. I completely understand that there isnt one. I am fine with that. If you were really concentrating on gingerbread and ics you shouldnt be in a thread that has to do with Froyo.

Ok guys as i'm trying to fix my USB problem I am curious as to if there is any other way to give my phone cwm.
I'm currently running ravers 2.3.6 kj6 official GB ROM with root. I understand I would have to Odin a different kernel but I can't cause of the USB issue. When I had the vibrant I remember using rom manager and going to factory recovery and doing update.zip. I am aware of rom manager not working with this phone but could I do something similar? Or since I have root could I go into a specific folder and change kernels?
My best guess is no since I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere I just thought I'd ask. You never know right?

Get sgs kernel flasher from market and extract the zimage from the kernel zip. Once that is done use sgs kernel flasher to flash the zimage and you will have clockwork mod with voodoo.
